It was registration day at Monster High. Rochelle, Frankie, Robecca, Lagoona, and Abbey were sitting at their desks in homeroom.
"I can't believe we're already sophomores!" Lagoona exclaimed.
"We not sophomores yet. We still freshmen" Abbey said. "What classes is everyone signing for?"
"French" Rochelle said. "It'll be a free A."
Her friends laughed.
"I'm taking Unorganic Chemistry" Frankie said. "I've heard it's very easy."
"Maybe for you" Lagoona remarked. "You come from a long line of scientists."
"I'm thinking about taking French too" Robecca said. "I've always wanted to learn a new language."
"French is a great language to learn" Rochelle said. "It's beautiful and easy to learn. I'm always willing to help you study."
"That's really sweet of you" Robecca said, squeezing her hand gently.
The bell rang. The friends slipped into the crowd of students trying to get to first period.
"Robecca and I have to get to Pre-Clawculus" Rochelle said. "We'll see you ghouls later."
She pulled Robecca around the corner. "When should we tell them?"
"When we're both ready" Robecca answered. "Have you told your parents yet?"
Rochelle nodded. "They said you're a very pretty ghoul." She pushed a lock of hair behind Robecca's ear. "I agree."
Robecca giggled. "You're so sweet. My father is excited to meet you."
"I'm excited to meet him. I think we should wait just a little while longer to tell our friends. They're sweet, but they tend to overreact to this sort of thing."
"I concur" Robecca said. "Besides, it's kind of exciting. The fact that no one else knows makes this relationship thrilling."
Rochelle squeezed her. "You're the most adorable monster I have met."
Robecca kissed her on the cheek. "I can't compete with you."
She started pulling Rochelle away from the wall. "Come on my love. We have a Pre-Clawculus test."
Rochelle groaned. "Do I have to?"
"Yes!" Robecca insisted. "Your presence makes math more bearable for me."
Robecca released her girlfriend's hand and the two monsters joined the throng of students. Their love was a secret, for now. They were still trying to determine just how serious their relationship was. One day they would.
