Her head was pounding, and her mouth was dry. Lyanna groaned as she sat up slowly in the bed, small rays of light trickled in through the curtains of the window. It was quiet in the hotel room. When she glanced at the clock she realized why, it was 9:15am and the boys were probably out getting something for breakfast. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a glass of water and two pills on the table beside her, she had to remember to thank Sam when she saw him. Lyanna popped the pills in her mouth and drank half the glass. She slowly slid out of the bed and walked to the bathroom. Her hair was in a messy bun and most of the makeup from yesterday was gone from her face, she looked like she had a rough night. She also wasn't wearing any pants and seemed to be dressed only in Dean's plaid shirt from the night before, she cringed internally, had something happened? She honestly couldn't remember anything after Jake calling and dumping her over the phone. The rest of the night was a hazy memory, maybe if she had a shower and some food in her system she would be able to remember.
Twenty minutes later Lyanna was showered, her hair was brushed and she was dressed in a pair of comfy track pants and an oversized hoodie. She felt immensely better but still couldn't remember the last few hours of her birthday celebrations. Lyanna was folding up Dean's shirt when she heard the door open and the two brothers walked inside
"Hey, she's alive!" Dean grinned as he nudged the small blonde standing in front of him
"Barely." Lyanna laughed, "Thanks for the water and the pills, Sammy."
Sam nodded as he handed her a coffee, "This should help too."
Lyanna grimaced as she handed Dean his shirt, "I think this belongs to you." she said tucking a piece of hair behind her ear, "Did-did anything happen last night?" she asked quietly
"Well funny-" Dean started with a little smirk
"No. Lya, you passed out right after we got back from the bar, and Dean gave you his shirt and put you to bed." Sam cut Dean off, giving his brother a sideways glance
"Ah, c'mon dude, I could've had fun with her!" Dean teased looking at Lyanna, "You puked your guts out for a half an hour and then yeah, it's just like Sam said." he shrugged with a smile
Lyanna let out a relieved sigh, but noticed the hurt look Dean was giving her, "Hey, look, it's not that I didn't want anything to happen. I-I just didn't want it to be like that, I wanted it to be organic-natural, and, well, y'know at least something I remembered." she laughed, wrapping her arms gently around Dean's waist
At this Dean seemed to perk up, "Oh, we got you something." he smiled, slipping out of her grasp and grabbing a box from the table. When he opened it there were three cupcakes with candles placed on each one "Happy official 25th birthday!"
Lyanna's eyes lit up as a big smile appeared on her face, "Aw, you guys didn't have to get me anything!"
"They're double chocolate."
Lyanna had to blink away a tear as she looked at the brothers "What in the world would I do without you guys?" she smiled, sticking her finger into the icing on the cupcake and licking it off, "Mmm, so good."
"Probably die." Dean laughed as he lit the candles and Lyanna blew them out, "Gonna tell me your wish?" he smirked
"Hmm, it won't come true if I do that, silly." Lyanna purred, it felt nice to flirt with Dean again without feeling guilty
Sam grabbed his laptop off the table and started packing it up along with his other stuff, "I guess if we don't have a new case we could head back to Bobby's?"
Lyanna nodded, "Sounds like a plan." she said, turning to grab her duffel bag
There was a knock at the door and the three stopped talking, Lyanna grabbed the gun from the night stand and slipped it behind her back cautiously approaching the door. She clicked the lock open and pulled at the door, when she saw the person standing in front of her on the other side her jaw dropped, "Jake?"
"Hi, Lyanna." Jake said, his posture was tense and he had slight bags under his eyes as if he hadn't slept
Lyanna inhaled sharply, "I have nothing to say to you." she huffed, going to close the door, but a hand flew up and pushed it back
"I drove all night to get here." Jake said quickly, "I just wanna explain. I want to apologize."
Lyanna stared at Jake for a few minutes then gave him a slight nod, "Just give me a second, I'll come out." she said, closing the door and turning to look at the Winchesters
"You're not seriously gonna talk to him are you?" Dean asked incredulously
Lyanna exhaled and shrugged, "He is my fiance…"
"Was. And he dumped you, remember? Over the freakin' phone!"
"Dean.." Lyanna frowned, "I owe it to him to at least talk… I'll be back in a bit, just give me twenty minutes." she sighed, as she turned and left the room.
Sam glanced at Dean, "You alright?" he asked, when Dean didn't respond he continued to packing his stuff
Dean approached the window and looked outside. Lyanna was leaning on the Impala and Jake had his arms crossed as he leaned on his car, "I don't trust him."
Sam looked over his shoulder and shrugged, "You don't have too. But Lya seems to trust him, look, all they're doing is talking maybe she won't take him back."
Dean sighed, "Yeah, right. She's loyal to a fault Sammy." he said
A bit of time passed and Lyanna appeared back inside the hotel room with an unreadable expression on her face. She was quiet as she dug through her duffel bag and pulled out a change of clothes
"So you're taking him back?"
Lyanna shut her eyes tightly and as she continued to fiddle with her bag, "He's taking me to dinner. He-he apologized, he didn't mean it, he was angry and-and hurt…" she sighed
Dean frowned as he gently turned Lyanna around, "He doesn't deserve you."
"Dean…" Lyanna whispered, "I-I made him a promise when I-"
"And he broke it when he ended it!" Dean shouted, "You know you're not right with him. You should be with me, you're supposed to be with… me." he added, his voice lowering a little
Lyanna sniffled as she looked into Dean's eyes, "I'm so sorry." she said, placing her hands on his cheeks, "I keep hurting you, and I'm so, so sorry." she sighed
Dean's eyes begged Lyanna to change her mind but after a minute of silence he realized she wasn't going too, so he stepped away from her and let out a breath, "So is this it?"
Lyanna shook her head, "No, I'm having dinner with Jake then he's gonna drive me back to Bobby's." she said with a half hearted smile, "I'll meet you guys there."
Sam cleared his throat and nodded, "Ok. Be safe and text us every once in a while ok? Just so we know what's going on." he smiled
Lyanna swallowed the lump in her throat but nodded, "I will." she said as she slung her bag over her shoulder, "Peace out bitches." she smiled as she left the room.
Lyanna sat in the passenger's side of Jake's car, her mind was racing with so many thoughts and feelings. Guilt, she felt guilty for leaving Dean. Again. But she felt even more guilty for lying to Jake for all these months, it was really the only reason she agreed to take him back, and he had seemed so genuine as he explained his reasoning for breaking up earlier. They had a nice dinner at a small little cafe just outside of town and then Jake told her he had a surprise for her.
They drove for a while before Jake pulled over at the side of the road, "Okay. So, don't kill me but-but I have to blind fold you for the rest." he grinned, "So it won't ruin the surprise." he said sweetly as he wrapped a piece of fabric across her eyes
"This is borderline kinky!" Lyanna laughed, "And if I didn't know you so well, I'd be a little worried." she smiled
Jake smirked as he pulled back onto the road, his eyes shifting to black momentarily than back to their normal blue hue, "Promise you're gonna love it." he whispered
Jake pulled up to an old abandoned warehouse and opened the car door for Lyanna, helping her out and leading her inside, leaving her duffel bag and phone sitting on the front seat
"Can I take this off now?" Lyanna smiled as she gripped Jake's hand tightly, there was a small feeling of doubt settling into her stomach, something just didn't feel right
"In a minute…" Jake said quietly as he led Lyanna to the center of the room and sat her down on a chair that was there. It wasn't until she felt something cold click shut around her wrist that she frowned, "Jake? What the hell?" she snapped
"Well, Jake's not really… in the building anymore." Jake smirked as he pulled the blind fold off and showed Lyanna where she was.
Lyanna let out a shaky breath as she took in her surroundings. It looked like an old warehouse, and it was dimly lit with no real furniture besides the chair she was sitting on and a few old tables, "What's going on?" she whispered, "Jake what are you doing?" she pleaded, watching as her fiance started tying her legs to the chair with rope
"Well, he brought you here to meet me." a voice spoke from the shadows, "Don't be angry with him. He was just following orders."
Lyanna jutted her chin out as she tried to make herself look braver than she felt, "Show yourself." she demanded
"My, my, you are feisty." the voice snickered, and a man appeared to Lyanna's left, "Hi, Lyanna." he smiled as he approached her and knelt down so he was eye level with her, "You know if it wasn't for those Winchesters we would never have gotten the chance to do this!" he grinned
"Lucifer…" the name fell out of Lyanna's lips like poison
"The one and only." Lucifer beamed returning to his full height, "You're much prettier than Jake said."
Lyanna frowned at this, "What have you done to him?" she asked
"Me? Oh, I didn't do anything." Lucifer shrugged, "Seems like your dear old lover fell victim to, well, a possession."
"What? How?"
Jake stood beside Lucifer and gave Lyanna a smirk, "Because of you! The demons sure are interested in you, princess."
Lyanna licked her lips and shifted, wondering if she'd be able to get her phone. Then she remembered that she left it in Jake's car and she frowned, "Whatever it is you think you can get from me, it's not gonna work. I'd die before I'd tell you anything." she spat
This only caused Lucifer to laugh, "Maybe I want you dead."
Lyanna's eyes widened and she looked at Jake, "How long?" she asked, "How long have you been wearing my fiance as a meatsuit?"
"About ten months." Jake shrugged, "By the way… are you that… giving… to all your boyfriends? I can see why Dean's still hung up on you." he smirked
Realization flashed on Lyanna's face, "Oh my God… You weren't-Jake wasn't…"
"That's right, I was pretending to play Jake at that nice family dinner we had."
Lyanna kicked her legs trying to loosen the ropes, "As nice as this catch up has been, I'm kind of over being the damsel. What the hell do you want?" she asked glaring at Lucifer
"I need to have a little chat with Sam." Lucifer grinned, "And you're gonna get him here."
Dean and Sam were half way to Bobby's when they decided to stop to grab something to eat and gas up.
"I've tried her four times and it goes straight to voicemail." Dean grumbled as he tossed his phone onto the table
"Maybe she's just enjoying her time with Jake…" Sam said carefully
Dean shook his head, "Nope. Something's wrong, Sammy." he sighed, "She wouldn't go this long without at least texting us."
Sam took a bit of his burger as he checked his phone. Maybe Dean was right, it had been four hours since he'd text Lyanna and she still hadn't replied
"We gotta go find her."
Sam sighed, "I know." he nodded, "Luckily, I put a gps in her phone a few months ago." he smiled, pulling out his laptop and bringing up the phone tracker program he had, "Huh, well… according to this she's still near Nashville, about forty minutes out."
Dean shoveled the rest of his burger into his mouth, "Alright let's go get her."
Sam nodded as he finished his burger and closed his lap top, "Keep calling, maybe she'll pick up."
Lyanna spit blood onto the floor a smirk playing on her lips, "You hit like a girl."
Lucifer frowned at the small blonde, as he towered over her, he narrowed his eyes and slapped her. This time it was hard enough that Lyanna's eyes fell shut and her head hung awkwardly on her chest, "And you talk too much."
Lucifer watched as the girl remained unconscious then he called Jake over to him, "Go get her stuff." he said, "She's gotta make a phone call when she wakes up."
"Yes, sir." Jake nodded as he quickly disappeared out of the warehouse, returning a few minutes later, "Sir, I-I don't mean to over step… but, won't she be kind of useless if you keep pummeling her?"
Lucifer smirked, "She's not like ordinary witches. She can handle a little rough housing."
"What is she?"
Lucifer licked his lips as he paced across the room, he didn't know for sure what exactly she was either, but he wasn't about to let that secret out, "Why would I tell you? You're nothing but a grunt." he frowned, "You brought her to me and I thank you for that, but, I think you've overstayed your welcome." he shrugged as he brought his hands to Jake's head and killed him, his body crumpling to the ground.
Lyanna snapped her head up as she glared at Lucifer, "Are we done yet?" she asked, "If you're gonna kill me, just get it over with.."
Lucifer shook his head, "Your boys have been calling you off the hook!" he smiled, "It's only polite to return the call." he added, "Tell them you're okay, and that you and Jake blew a flat outside a warehouse off 95."
Lyanna let out a breath as she watched Lucifer dial Sam's number and put it on speaker phone
"Lya! Are you alright? We've been trying to get a hold of you for hours." Sam's voice sounded worried
"I-I'm fine." Lyanna said, "Look, it's really a funny story." she laughed, "Remember that time in Poughkeepsie? Or was it Hell's Kitchen? It's just like that with that junker of Bobby's… Jake and I got a flat just off 95." she explained. She prayed the boys still remembered their safe word, and they knew they would be walking into a trap, she added Hell's kitchen hoping one of them would connect it to Lucifer
There was a minute of silence and then she heard Dean's voice through the phone, "Hold tight, Buffy, we'll be there as soon as we can."
Lucifer ended the call and tossed the phone onto the table behind him, "So what should we do while we wait?" he grinned, "We could talk. You could tell me exactly what you are."
"Not a chance in hell."
Lucifer narrowed his eyes, "I'll figure it out sooner or later, you know."
Lyanna shrugged, "I bet you will, but we'll still win. We're the heroes, they always win…" she smirked
Lucifer laughed, "You keep telling yourself that, blondie."
Lyanna glared at Lucifer, "At least let me out of the restraints." she said, "Or are you afraid of a little witch?" he voice was mocking as she held her handcuffed wrist up
This only caused Lucifer to smile, "You're in those for your safety not mine."
Lyanna raised an eyebrow, "That sounds made up." she smirked, "C'mon Lucy at least make it a fair fight."
"Be careful what you wish for." Lucifer chuckled as he tossed Lyanna and the chair across the room, the ropes loosen enough for her to kick her feet out, but before she could get her balance Lucifer dragged her to her feet and uncuffed her hand, "Show me what you're made of little witch." he sneered, slamming her into the wall and lifting her by her throat
This was the first time panic set in and Lyanna cursed herself for being so brazen. Lucifer continued to smirk as he tightened his grip on her neck, "I thought you were the hero!" he taunted
Lyanna could feel the breath constricting in her lungs, if she didn't do something he was going to kill her. She tapped the wall behind her with her foot and found a decent footing and she used what little energy she still had to push herself off the wall, using her other leg to kick Lucifer in the hips, which caused him to stumble back and lose hold of her throat. Lyanna gasped deeply and quickly as she stumbled to the ground, "I am!" she grunted as she pushed her hand out in front of her "Immobilis." she chanted, causing Lucifer to halt in his step
"You can't hold that forever." Lucifer laughed, "Impressive though, I wasn't expecting that much power out of you…"
Lyanna inhaled deeply as she continued to hold her hand up, focusing her thoughts onto the spell that was keeping Lucifer at bay. But she could feel her power slipping, she didn't practice enough to sustain spells for longer than a few minutes, she just hoped the boys would get her soon, and that they had a plan.
Dean had called Bobby and had explained that Lyanna was in trouble. It had taken him a few minutes but he got Lyanna's message when they had talked. She was with Lucifer and he was setting them up for a trap. When all Bobby could think of was to contact Castiel Dean got frustrated and hung up, now he was sitting in silence trying to think of anything better
"I think it's our only option." Sam said from the passenger's seat, "We can't just storm in there, but maybe Cass can."
Dean groaned, "Ah, you're for this too?" he asked, "No, Cass can't save Lyanna and take on Lucifer."
"Okay so all three of us-"
"Nope. You need to stay away from him." Dean interjected, "If he gets into your head we're toast dude."
Sam sighed, "So what? We let Lyanna die?"
Dean shook his head, "You wait in the car. I go in with Cass, get Lyanna, then let the angels duke it out." he replied, "It's not a great plan, but all I really care about right now is getting Lyanna away from that asshole."
Sam exhaled and let his shoulders fall, "Alright, I guess. But be careful, Dean. Get Lyanna and get out, we still don't know exactly what we're dealing with, with Lucifer."
The brothers pulled up to the entrance of the warehouse, about a hundred yards up Dean could make out the car that Jake had been driving, "Alright, right place." he said, then he called to Castiel a few times before they heard fluttering and the angel in question was sitting in the backseat
"We need your help."
Castiel looked between the brothers, "Where's Lyanna?" he asked
"That's what we need help with." Sam said, "Lucifer's got her. And they're in there." he nodded to the warehouse
Dean pushed the door open and got out of the car, walking around to the truck and grabbing a few weapons he thought might help. Castiel approached him, "I can't take on Lucifer."
"Don't need you too." Dean shrugged, "I just need you to hold him off long enough that I can get Lyanna back to the car with Sam."
Castiel inhaled sharply, but nodded, "Okay." he said as he followed the eldest Winchester into the building
Lyanna had fallen to her knees and her face was twisting in an effort to keep Lucifer still, but he was slowly pushing through her block, when her nose started bleeding she collapsed in a heap on the ground
Castiel noticed Lyanna first and pointed to her, "You've got minutes, maybe." he frowned, as he watch Dean take off in her direction, once he was out of his eyeline he moved his focus on to the archangel, "What happened to you Lucifer, you used to be one of the good ones." he called, causing Lucifer's gaze to turn towards him
Dean took this chance to sprint towards Lyanna, who was trying to get herself to her feet, "Dean!" she whispered, relief washing over her features when she saw the familiar hunter
"Hey, I got you." Dean smiled, slipping his arm under her legs and picking her up bridal style, it would just be easier for him to run than having to worry about her falling behind. He heard Lucifer and Castiel taunting each other then he saw Castiel trying to advance on the archangel as he made it to the exit doors, he just hoped Castiel could survive a few more minutes
Sam had been watching the doors of the warehouse with baited breath. This plan was a weak one at best, but it might just work, after all they just needed time to escape, once they got onto the highway they would be safe. At least for a while. Two figures came into view a few minutes later and he climbed out of the car and opened the backseat before crawling back into the passenger's seat. Dean quickly got behind the wheel and gunned the gas, spinning the wheels as the Impala sped out of the parking lot and back onto the highway. After a few minutes of silence Sam let out a breath, "I can't believe that worked."
Dean nodded in agreement, "I hope Cass got out ok." he said, then he glanced over his shoulder into the backseat, "Are you alright?" he asked softly
Lyanna gave a nod, "I'm ok." she replied, "I'm so sorry guys." she cried, "God! I was so stupid!"
"Hey, hey! It's alright. No one would have known that was gonna happen." Sam hushed Lyanna as he shook his head
Lyanna sighed, "Jake was a demon." she admitted, "It was all a trap to get me to Lucifer, to get to you Sam."
Dean's eyes fell back onto the road, "I didn't trust him today. Looks like I was right. Again."
"Dean I'm sorry." Lyanna squeaked, he was angry with her, and he had every right to be "I promise you from this moment forward, I'm only gonna be with you. I'll always choose you." she stammered, as she slipped her engagement ring off her finger. She studied it for a minute and then rolled the window down and tossed it onto the road.
Dean watched Lyanna from the rearview mirror and let a small smile spread across his face. Yes, he was still angry that she had chosen Jake over him, but in the end when it was all said and done he had once again gotten his girl back, and this time it seemed like she wasn't going anywhere ever again, "Why is everything you do so dramatic?" he teased, looking at the blonde in the mirror, "We're good Lya, let's just haul ass to Bobby's so we can figure out what the hell we're gonna do about this apocalypse, yeah?" he questioned as he looked from Lyanna to Sam
"Home sweet home." Lyanna hummed as she sat back into the seat and slowly drifted off to sleep. That night her dreams weren't filled with monsters, angels and the gates of hell, instead there were nothing but happy memories, Dean and Sam Winchester and a few somewhere over the rainbows.
