International Rabbit Day
AN: Okay, I'm a day late for posting this one, but, here it is! :D Tada! *jazz hands*
Nick didn't know why he was doing what he was about to do. This...insane, stupid, and probably-going-to-be-put-up-on-EweTube-for-everyone-to-see, stunt of his. It was something that he might have done with Finnick as a distraction for a hustle, or something he could have convinced his tiny, angry friend to do if he was drunk.
Staring down at the white one piece he was wearing, while zipping up the back so his tail wouldn't get caught, Nick could only sigh in exasperation. He knew why he was doing this, and said reason was the adorable, grey, fluffy bunny in the other room who had absolutely no clue what he was about to do.
Steeling his nerves, Nick readied himself for what was to come. One deep breath was followed by a second, then a third, then an extreme desire to take the onesie off immediately and toss it into the nearby flaming trash receptacle on Pack Street.
You can do this Nick. You know you're going to adore that smile and laugh she'll have when you walk out there...and embarrass yourself beyond all comprehension.
"Hey Nick, you okay in there?"
"Coming!" he shouted back. He'd given her the excuse that he was needing to find something in their room before coming to dinner. They'd taken the time to prepare a lovely carrot ratatouille, garnished with so much seasonings and herbs from Judy's family farm that the dish probably could work as an advertisement for them.
This costume was the final topper for the night. Something he hoped Judy would never forget.
He knew he never would.
With a final, baited breath, Nick opened the door, glad to see Judy was leaning into the fridge, searching for something within its chilled walls. A few steps across the carpet of the living room left his claws tapping against the cheap, patterned linoleum, Judy's ears twisted to face him as he walked up behind him.
"Ah good," the bunny exclaimed as she reached up for a top shelf. Could you grab the carrot shavings up on the top shelf. I don't remember putting them there..."
Nick reached over her, grabbing the tupperware she was pointing out.
"...last night..." Her eyes trailed along the white furred arm that grabbed the dish and placed it in her awaiting paws. With her nose twitching, Judy slowly turned around to see the white furred arm connected to a completely whited out Nick, save his slightly nervous smile and crinkled cheeks.
"Happy International Rabbit Day...?" Nick said, waving his arms with a flourish, showing off the Bunny onesie he was wearing. He tried to find one in grey to match his bunny bride, but, they only had this white one with black stripes across his back and cheeks.
A second of silence turned into several, followed by even more as Judy's nose twitched, her eyes roving over her husband's figure. The longer it stretched, the more worried he became.
Eventually, his nervousness won out. "Sorry, I uh...I remember what you did for International Fox Day, with that adorable vixen onesie you found and wore so uh...I...wanted to do something...for you..."
Nick was cut off by his rabbit beginning to giggle, shaking her head and walking the short foot towards him. "Nick," she breathed out between giggles. She gently clasped his red furred cheeks within her paws and pulled his head slowly down towards hers. "Happy International Bunny Day, and thank you."
She gave his own twitching nose a quick kiss, allowing a smile to spread across Nick's face as he let out a breath he hadn't known he was holding in. "Now," she began, giving him a quick hug. "I can tell my foxy bunny has been preparing this for a while, so, let's celebrate this wonderful day together, hmm?"
The back of Nick's suit began moving, as his tail, stuffed as tightly as it was within the suit, tried to wag. Judy let out another round of giggles as Nick attempted to curb his tail's movement.
"I think you had it easier with your little fluffball, Fluffball," Nick griped, much to Judy's amusement.
The bunny smiled. "Did I have it an easier time? Yes, yes I did." She turned around and poked him in his stomach. "Which means, I want you to be comfortable so as soon as dinner is over, we are getting you out of that onesie and into something more comfortable."
A smug grin came across Nick's muzzle. "But what if I'm not wearing anything under this?"
Judy shot him a sly smile of her own over her shoulder. "Sounds comfortable to me."
Nick's tail wagged again.
