Chapter 11

Later that night, Leonard went inside Abby's building to pick her up for their second date. Abby opened her door and Leonard was surprised seeing her all made up and very pretty.

"You look amazing!" he said. "I brought you these." he said handing her a bouquet of flowers.

"Aww, these are beautiful Leonard. I love it." She said while smelling the flowers. "How did you know that tulips were my favorites?" she asked, surprising Leonard.

"Uh I didn't know. Lucky guess!?" he said, laughing a little.

"Okay, you're off to a good start." she said smiling at him. "Where are we going?" she said as they walk out of the building while holding on to Leonard's arm.

"Well I made a dinner reservation not far from here." He said as he opened the car door for her. He then got on the driver's seat and drove the car out into the road ahead.

They arrived at the restaurant and was shown to their table and served some red wine.

"Leonard this place is so nice." she said. "This must be pricey?" she added then turned to the waiter serving the wine. "Uh he can't drink wine, he's under medication." she said.

"Yeah, I almost forgot." said Leonard smiling at her. "Uh, can I just have an orange juice?" he said to the waiter while taking their orders.

They continued talking while waiting for their order to be served.

"I'm surprised that your mother didn't stay after you got out of the hospital." she said.

"My mom and I have a somewhat 'complicated' relationship." he said.

"Really? How so?" Abby said.

"Let me see, I don't celebrate my birthday because it's her accomplishment, not mine. We don't celebrate Christmas. She never supported me in literally anything, she never says she loves me and to top it all off, she would rather talk to Sheldon than me." he said.

"Why?" she asked, slightly curious.

"Because she's the worst!" eh said making Abby laugh.

"You cannot be serious! How could you say that about your own mother?" Abby said.

"You should read about what she says about me in her books." he said while drinking his orange juice. "Then you'll know my comments about her are actually compliments." he said laughing with her.

"Really?" she said.

"One of her books is called 'Needy Baby, Greedy Baby'." he said.

"No!" she asked, surprised with what Leonard said.

"And guess who's that baby?" he asked.

"Unbelievable!" she said shaking her head. "That's why I'm not that close to her, although, I would prefer to stay further away from her." he said making Abby laugh out loud.

"That's not funny Leonard." she said smiling as their order arrived and served by the waiter. They began eating while continuing to share stories about themselves, their work and their friends and sometimes sharing a joke or two with each other.

After a couple of hours eating and talking in the restaurant, they decided to call it a night and pay for their meal, leaving an extra tip for the waiter.

Leonard pulled the car over on the curb, near Abby's building entrance.

"I had a wonderful time Leonard. Thanks for asking me out." she said.

"Thank you for feeling bad and saying yes." he said making her laugh out loud.

Abby then looked him straight in the eye and without warning, grabbed him by the coat and kissed him on the lips. Leonard was surprised but gladly let Abby have her way as he tasted her sweet lips. They broke off, leaning their foreheads against each other, breathing heavily.

"Leonard." she whispered.

"Hmmm?" he uttered while touching her face.

"Do you come up and have some coffee?" she asked.

Leonard smiled, feeling lucky for himself. "I've been through this situation before and I'm not gonna say no this time." he said, kissing her quickly on the lips.

"You're so cute!" she said. "Come on." Abby added as they hurriedly got out of the car and walked straight into the building.

Once inside Abby's apartment, she grabbed Leonard's hand and pulled him into her bedroom, pushing him on the bed. She then joined him as they kissed while trying to remove their clothes. Abby slid her hand on Leonard's body, feeling the scars of his wounds. Leonard laughed a little, feeling Abby's hand slightly tickling him.

"That tickles!" he said.

"I know." she said while beginning to loosen his pants and shirt. Leonard did the same, undoing her dress while trying to focus on kissing her.

"Hey, uh, is it safe for me to, you know?" he asked as Abby continued to kiss him.

"Leonard, baby, once we're done, you're gonna want to thank the guys who stabbed you." she said as she pinned Leonard down and continued kissing him as they finally got out of their clothes and pulled the sheets over them.

A few hours later, Leonard took a puff from his inhaler as Abby laid her head on his shoulder, happy and satisfied with her boyfriend.

"Are you gonna be okay?" she asked, looking up to him. Leonard nodded as he waited for his medication to take effect. Abby rested her head back on his shoulder and put her arm around him. "You did great honey. Considering you almost died a few weeks ago." she jokingly said.

"Well, you saved my life so it's only proper that I repay you!" he said making them explode with laughter.

"That was funny!" she said, kissing him on the lips.

"Too bad the police never caught those guys huh?" he said while playing with her hair.

Abby looked at him. "Hey, why don't we go to the beach? Might help easing up your asthma." she said.

"l read about that. It says that the salty air helps clear the air passages." he said.

"It does." said Abby. "What do you think those nasal sprays are made of?" she added.

"You're right I guess." he said. "Okay, lets go to the beach. !f you want, we can make it into a regular thing?" he said.

Abby nodded. "I'd love that. We'll get a nice tan and maybe you can apply some sunscreen on me?" she said teasing him.

Leonard pulled her close and kissed her. "That would be the best part." he said smiling at her.

"Let's get some sleep honey, and maybe we could have round to later." she said.

"Amen to that." he said, hugging her tight and smelling her hair before closing his eyes to sleep.
