In the weeks they waited for a final decision on the house Jamie kept a close watch over Eddie as he progressed with the pregnancy. As she was able to he took her to forty second street , union square and on the ferry. Jamie went from night shift to morning tours happily for both of them.

While he worked Eddie studied but by midweek she pushed the books aside around noon. Stretching out with a quick look at the time she suddenly felt stir crazy and needed to get out. Books aside she went and changed in a flower dress, hair down and sighed at herself. In the mirror Eddie smiled, cupping under her obviously pregnant belly. "Wait til Jamie sees," she whispered.

Taking a over the shoulder hand bag Eddie went out to the nearby train station into the city. One sleepless night she found the 12th address so all she had to do now was pay attention.

The train was crowded but not overly packed allowing Eddie to sit in one of the corner seats. She brushed her hair back, looking out the window until they pulled Into the station. Keeping a hand over her bag she exited with a bunch of other passengers heading to lower Manhattan. Following the path of stores familiar from the map to a small park she turned a corner until the twelfth came into view.

Two officers having a conversation on the top step of the precinct moved aside and opened the door for her smiling. "Thank you," Eddie said before walking in.

Eddie had never been in a police precinct so she didn't know what to expect but certainly not what she saw. A desk sat right in front of her, armed with a officer wearing white lines on his sleeve. Other officers milled passed her, some handing in paperwork, others guiding a person they arrested. She approached the desk slowly, "Hi, I'm here to see Jamie Reagan. I'm his wife."

"ID please," the sergeant turned a book around towards her so she could sign it. He watched as she furrowed through her purse until she came up with her state ID. While the sergeant checked it she signed it.

He handed her id back smiling, "Reagan is processing a collar so he'll be out in a few minutes. You can have a seat while you wait."

Taking the ID back into her wallet Eddie accepted the offer to sit in plastic chairs by the desk. It gave her a view of the comings and goings while she waited. Cops in uniform, those wearing dress clothes and some with white shirts walked with no attention to the guest. Two cops pushed a middle aged man coughing as he struggled against them.

"Eddie?" She turned quickly from two female cops walking in together to Sergeant Renzulli walking over from a hallway. "Hey, are you looking Jamie? I can take you back to see him. We're on meal now so you have time."

She followed him down the long hall he just came from smiling. More cops past her as they rounded the winding hall. "You popped since I last saw you. Is this your first time in a precinct?"

"Yeah, I didn't know what it would look like," she admitted quietly, continuing to look around while they walked. Her hands cupped underneath the enlarged belly when he mentioned it. "I did. Jamie didn't see it yet."

Chuckling quietly Renzulli led her through a double door that led into another hall. Taking a right they stopped inside a smaller room where Jamie sat waiting at a table with one single fridge and a counter with a coffee machine. "Hey kid, look who came to surprise you."

Jamie picked his head up from the two cans of soda he purchased in the machine for them. Seeing Eddie standing next to his sergeant he went around the table smiling. "Hey Eddie," he circled his arms around her waist and kissed her. Keeping his hand there he looked down wide eyed. "Eddie."

"Yeah? I popped I know. I was bored at home and wanted to see you so I hope it's okay," Eddie bit her lip.

Smiling Renzulli took a quiet exit to give them privacy while he ate in his office. Jamie cupped her waist, kissing her again, "Of course it's okay. I just can't believe you're showing. " Jamie slowly rubbed along the sides of her belly, ignoring the whistling from cops passing by.

He found himself once the shock passed. "Here, you should sit down Eddie. Welcome to the 12th."

"I've never been in a police precinct before so it was interesting. A lot of cops I guess in different uniforms . It seems pretty busy, is it usually," Eddie crossed her left leg behind her right since she couldn't over.

"it usually is but it's good. The cops here are cool. I'll explain all the uniforms at home maybe over dinner. I was thinking of a special candlelit dinner. What do you think," Jamie leaned forward in the chair until he cupped her hands.

Eddie smiled, "That sounds good to me."

Their visit lasted until his meal was about done, when Jamie insisted on walking her out. They barely turned the corner of the front desk when Frank's large frame came through, stopping every cop in sight. Jamie snapped at attention, feet and hands at his side before the command was issued. Beside him Eddie watched intently amazed at the obvious power the commissioner held to have everyone stop and salute him.

"As you were," Frank smiled until his scan found Jamie on duty holding Eddie's hand. His youngest remained posed as per protocol until directed otherwise. He approached quietly, "As you were officer. Jamie, Eddie. Did I interrupt something?"

Shaking his head Jamie shook his head, "No. Eddie was just visiting while I'm on meal sir. "

Nodding Frank's eyes scanned his youngest's girlfriend unable to get past her belly. "Well you must be Eddie, Frank Reagan. It's a pleasure to finally meet you. And my goodness you're showing already. How far along now?"

"I'll be four months in a week," Eddie shook his hand politely and trying not to show intimidation at the much larger man. "It's nice to meet you too. I'll let you get back to work. Jamie, be safe okay? I'll see you at home." Quietly slipping past them with a hand on her stomach Eddie walked down the steps and disappeared from view.

When Frank turned back to his youngest Jamie shook his head slowly. "Excuse me sir. I have to get back to patrol."

"Jamie just hold on for a second. I know we didn't leave off on the best of terms and I am still disappointed that you got a girl you didn't know, one who isn't your wife pregnant. Pop had a nice, long talk and he told me that you did marry Eddie at City Hall," Frank pushed his glasses up the bridge of his nose.

When the statement received no response Frank continued, "You did good marrying her though you shouldn't have put yourself in that position. We taught you that to protect you Jamie. All of that is to late now though. I will never approve of how it happened but I want to move past that."

"Will you ever get over it though dad? Eddie is my wife and mother of my baby and that's all that matters to me. Is this really about protecting me or protecting the family from embarassement," Jamie past his father without saluting to search for Renzulli.

Jamie left the 12th at exactly end of tour to hurry home. He met Eddie coming from the bathroom after another bout of sickness, lifted her up in his arms and pressed their lips together hard. She smiled, letting it linger for a minute before pulling back. "What was that for?"

"Just because I can and want to. Hope you're hungry because I have a your favorite dish from Anthony's," Jamie slipped his hand in hers smiling all the way to the table.

She pulled back just enough to get his attention. "Jamie, does this have anything to do with your father at the precinct earlier? You can talk to me remember? Did you get in trouble because I was there today? "

"No," Jamie chuckled. He rested a hand over her waist smiling at her. "No I didn't get in trouble. We talked, he said he's disappointed that I got you pregnant before we got married but he wants to move past that. He won't though, dad is stubborn and I can be too. I know how I was raised but I don't regret the decision to make love to you or that you got pregnant because of it."

"Jamie he's still your father. I don't regret sneaking out to see you or any of the nights we shared together and especially that I'm going to have your baby. Even if it scares the hell out of me," Eddie chuckled lightly. They leaned in closer until their heads touched. "I love you. My parents disowned me but I don't want yours to."

Holding her waist as he took a step closer Jamie only shook his head. "You're my family now. You and the baby. Pop will be there but I want us to show that we can do it. Now let's eat."

That was his signal the conversation was over so Eddie quietly helped him take everything out. He bought her favorite pasta and grilled steak with mixed vegetables while he had just pasta and a side salad. Eddie knew without him saying that it hurt his family wasn't more involved, that he missed Sunday dinner but maybe it was better so Jamie didn't get hurt.

She knew the feeling of being betrayed and didn't want Jamie to go through that. She didn't mention his father again but questioned Jamie about everything she saw at the precinct. Jamie happily went through different protocol situations, uniforms and some procedure like roll call.

Soon they would see Dr Brian for Eddie's four month check up but that wasn't the only surprise coming.
