Edward - EPOV

I run from the house the moment I hear Jasper's thoughts on training with the Volturi. I wasn't going to be around them if I could help it. Seeing my Bella with that monster is just too much. Why am I the only one that can see through this whole charade? I make my way to the meadow and sit down in the middle. I look at the abundance of flowers and smile softly as I remember how enchanted Bella was when I first brought her here.

We shared so many beautiful and loving moments in our time together, more than some people get to share in a lifetime, and that's why I'm certain that Bella and I belong together. She was created for me. She will see sense the moment the barbarian is dead and then we will be happy for the rest of our existence. I just know we will.

I let my mind wander for hours until I smell the easily recognizable scent of Jacob Black. He smells absolutely horrible. I stand up and as he slowly walks my way.

"You made up your mind, Jacob?"

He huffs as I call him by his given name. He keeps on calling me names like bloodsucker and leech, but I refuse to give in to that childlike behavior. I was raised better than that.

"He's going to pay for what he did to Bells. I'm in."

The disgust is clearly visible on his face as he says the words and it almost makes me laugh. The great Jacob Black, the descendant of Ephraim Black and rightful alpha, is actually going to help me, his mortal enemy. Our love for Bella is what links us together. Both of us will do anything for her. He will get his revenge for losing Bella to vampirism and I will get my Bella back, safe and sound in my arms. That's what I call a win-win-operation.

I tell him that further contact between the two of us must be limited to phone calls. I've got a feeling that Alice is getting suspicious. After my last encounter with Jacob, she totally freaked out on me. She said something about me disappearing from her visions and has been watching me with this strange look on her face ever since. The fact that she didn't see my meeting with Jacob is an unexpected bonus. He is my ultimate weapon and no one will know he's coming. Demetri Volturi will be dead before the week is over.

I laugh out loud as I run back to the house and confine myself to my room. I don't need to speak to the others at this moment. They're all traitors as far as I'm concerned. It will take me a long time to forgive them for turning their back on me. I will take Bella away from here when this is all over, they don't deserve her company anyway.

Alice – APOV

Edward is up to something, I just know it. He returned to the house an hour ago. I tried looking into his future a couple of times over the last few hours, only to have him disappear from my visions again. I have to figure out what he is up to. I have only one problem; I can't follow him when he leaves the house, because he can hear my thoughts from a mile away.

I sigh as Jasper walks into our bedroom. He rushes to my side and I can feel his concern as he pushes his feelings my way. I give him a quick peck on the lips and take his hand in mine. I stand up and pull him toward the window. He nods as a sign that he understands what I want. We jump down into the garden and run into the forest until we're out of hearing distance from the house. Jasper pulls me close and says: "what's wrong, darlin'?"

"Edward is up to something, Jazz. I just know it. I can't see the outcome of the battle anymore; it started when he disappeared from my vision. He's planning something and I bet that it has to do with Bella. Why can't he leave her alone? She's so happy, Jazz! She deserves this after how we all treated her. There's no way that we can follow him to find out what he's planning, he will hear our thoughts and run. I… just… aaarrgghhh!"

Jasper snickers as he kisses the top of my head. "Calm down, Alice! We will keep a close eye on him and I'll make sure nothing happens to Bella or Demetri. You're right; we owe her that much for leaving her the way we did. She's my sister too, Alice. I'll protect her."

I hug him tight and inhale his scent as he sends calming waves my way. My Jazzy always knows exactly how to calm me down. I tense again as a vision washes over me. The decision is made; the newborns are leaving Seattle in a few hours. I gasp for unneeded air as the vision stops and say: "It's time; they will be here in twelve hours."

Demetri - DPOV

The training session with the Major had been quite interesting. His knowledge of newborn vampires was impressive and I wish that we had met sooner. Bella is right, I really like Jasper. He is a force to be reckoned with and he loves my Bella as a true sister. He will protect her and that makes him a good guy in my book.

I walk out into our bedroom and smile as I see my Bella, curled up on the couch near the window, totally engrossed in one of her books. God, she is so beautiful, she takes my breath away every time I see her. I walk over and place a kiss on the top of her head. She lifts her head and gives me one of her gorgeous smiles. I lean in to kiss her as my phone rings.

I frown as I see Jasper's name on the caller ID and pick up: "What's up, Major?"

"Alice had a vision. The decision has been made. The newborn army will arrive in twelve hours."

"Okay. I would like to inspect the clearing you spoke of right away. I want to get a feel for the terrain. Could you accompany me?"

"Of course, I'll pick you up in five."

I pocket my phone and take Bella into my arms. I kiss her passionately, before looking into her eyes. I can see her love for me shining through and I feel my undead heart swell as I realize once more how lucky I'm to have her in my life. I kiss the tip of her nose and say: "I'll be right back, tesoro. I bet you won't even miss me if you start reading again."

I chuckle as she swats my head playfully, before picking up her book and returning to her spot on the couch. I turn around as I hear Jasper nearing the cabin and start to make my way to the front door. Bella interrupts me before I can exit the bedroom, as she says: "I love you, Demi."

I turn around and I see flashes of worry in her eyes. I rush back to her and cup her face with both my hands. I stare into her beautiful crimson red eyes and say: "I love you more than life itself, amore mio. You're my salvation. I won't be gone long. Do you want Jane to keep you company?"

A very soft 'yes' leaves her lips and before I can say anything, Jane enters the room. Privacy is truly an illusion when you're a vampire. I give Jane an appreciative nod and move outside to find Jasper waiting for me. He gives me an understanding smile and motions me to follow him. We make it to the clearing in no time. I take a quick look around and understand immediately why Jasper picked this spot to meet the newborn army head-on.

I can see the small town of Forks in the distance, but the clearing is far enough away for the townspeople to be safe. It's strange that a clearing of this size exists in the middle of a forest but it's perfect for our plan. Jasper points out where Alice sees the army entering the clearing and we discuss our positions one more time. We both don't want any surprises.

I can see that something is bothering him and I raise one of my browns questioningly. He snickers as he says: "And I thought that I was the empath. Alice has trouble seeing the outcome of the battle. It was clear until Edward started disappearing from her visions. Alice fears that Edward is up to something and I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. He is projecting the weirdest cocktail of emotions, but the smugness and mirth that I've been reading since yesterday, point in the same direction. We'll need to keep a close eye on him."

I nod and we continue to walk through the clearing. I let Jasper's words run through my mind and realize that Edward is hell bound on disrupting Bella's happiness. Knowing that I'm to one that stands in his way, his plan will automatically include me. He knows as well as I that I will give my own life for hers. I stop dead in my tracks and Jaspers turns to look at me questioningly. My face is filled with worry and uncertainty as I say:

"Jasper, I want to ask you something. You already know that I will give my life for my Bella. She is my number one priority; her life matters more to me than anything on this planet. If this battle somehow leads to my demise, promise me that you'll take care of her. Escort her home and help her through it. Tell her how much I love her and that I will always be with her."

Jasper nods and sticks out his hand. I shake it before running back to the cabin. I run straight into our bedroom and pull Bella into my arms. Jane gives me a startled and worried look as she leaves the room.

Bella – BPOV

Demetri's action startles me and I can see the shock and worry on Jane's face as she leaves our room the moment Demetri rushes in. I push him back a little and lift my head to look into his eyes. He smiles at me lovingly, but the smile on his face doesn't quite reach his eyes. What the hell happened in the clearing?

"Is something wrong, Demi?"

He stares at my face and moves his hand to stroke my cheek. It's a gesture that normally sends shivers down my spine, but now it has me worried like never before.

"Demetri Volturi, you better tell me what is going through your mind right now or I'm going to beat it out of you!"

He chuckles before kissing me passionately. I arch my back as I feel his hands roaming my body and moan in his mouth as his hands grab my ass to pull me closer. He moves his mouth to my neck and whispers: "I love you so much, Bella. Even when my life ends tonight, I will die a happy man because I got to love you with all my heart."

I take a step back to put some space between us as I look at him questioningly, before asking: "Where is this coming from? Alice saw the outcome of the battle. We're going to fine. Tell me that we're going to be fine!" I stop my rant as I realize that I'm yelling. Demetri leads me back to the couch and pulls me to sit in his lap. I can feel his hand stroking my back and I relax as I lean into him. "Tell me what's going on, Demi… please…"

"Alice can't see the outcome of the fight anymore. Something changed the moment Edward disappeared from her vision. Alice and Jasper fear that Edward is up to something and I share their opinion. We can't trust him. I'll have Jane keep an eye on him and Jasper will do the same. I just need you to know that I love you, Bella. You're everything to me."

I crash my lips on his and kiss him with more passion than ever before. His hands move into my hair as he grabs hold of it and tries to pull me even closer. We fight for dominance for several minutes until I let him win. His soft growl goes straight to my core and I know that he can smell my arousal. His growl intensifies as I whisper: "Make love to me."

"God, Bella, you're such a temptress. Can you feel what you do to me?"

He shifts our position so that I'm straddling him and I moan as I feel his rock hard member against my heated core. I move out of his lap and pull him toward the bed. I slip out of the dress that I'm wearing and watch as Demetri's eyes turn pitch-black. He quickly undresses too, before throwing me on the bed and moving to lie in between my legs. He moves inside me slowly while saying how much he loves me and it almost sends me over the edge already.

I can feel the tension building inside me as Demetri starts moving in and out of me. It's slow at first, but he moves faster and harder with each thrust. I dig my nails into his shoulders as my walls start to flutter around him. God, I love it when he loses control like that. I lean up to mark him as my orgasm crashes over me and that pulls him over the edge with me.

He moves his mouth to my neck to mark me too and I scream in pleasure as his venom triggers another mind-blowing orgasm. He moves to lie down beside me and pulls me close. I put my head in the crook of his shoulder and let my fingers wander along his torso. He kisses the top of my head and moves to pull the covers over us. I sigh contently as I cuddle up against him. "I love you so much, Demi. You're my life, I'm nothing without you."

"You're the most amazing woman this world has ever seen, my Bella. I still can't believe that faith picked me to be your mate. Don't ever forget how happy you make me, Bella, even when something should happen…"

Oh no, we're not going there again. I put two of my fingers against his lips to shut him up and move into a sitting position. I pull him up so that I can look straight into his eyes and say:

"You promised me forever, Demetri Volturi, and I'm not settling for anything less than that. I will kill everyone that tries to come between us and I know that you will do the same. I'm yours and you're mine, for eternity. Now stop worrying."

He leans in and places a soft kiss on my lips, before saying: "You're absolutely right, amore mio."

Demetri - DPOV

Bella is right. I need to stop worrying, it's throwing me off my game and I need to stay focused. I would have guessed that Edward was going to be in trouble. The Masters predicted it weeks ago. The remaining hours till the battle pass relatively fast and before we know it both covens are gathered in the clearing.

Jasper, Emmett, Felix and I are standing in the front, with the rest a few meters behind us. We are going to take the first wave of the attack. Bella is standing right behind me, together with Alec and Jane. They will stay together throughout the entire fight, just as the rest of the Cullens. We all tense up when Alice says: "They're here."

Seconds later twenty-four newborns come rushing into the clearing and the fighting starts. I notice immediately how important Jasper's training was. Newborns have a very basic fighting pattern but they are so much faster and stronger than the rest of us. Jasper and I successfully kill four of them in the first minute. Emmett and Felix move throughout the clearing together and seem to be having fun. They have incapacitated three of them by the looks of it.

Jasper moves on to the next newborn and yells: "Keep up, Demetri. I've killed three already, you're falling behind." I snicker and rush to my next target. The fight is long and I can see that everyone is on edge, but it looks like we're gaining the upper hand. I smile as I hear Jasper yell: "Five!" I twist the head of the newborn in front of me and say "Five!".

He snickers and moves out of the way as the next newborn lunges directly at him. He knocks him in the side midair and sends him flying toward Emmett, who easily takes him down. Esme and Alice are starting the fires so that we can dispose of the newborns. I take a quick look around and count no more than six newborns.

Bella and Jane are finishing one off; Alec has another one under the influence of his gift. Carlisle and Esme are fighting one newborn as are Alice and Rosalie. Felix and Emmett move toward the last two. Edward is standing at the edge of the clearing as if he's waiting for something and I can see Jasper looking his way too.

Suddenly a large wolf enters the clearing at my side. He looks at me with a menacing look in his eyes and I know that Edward has something to do with this. I can hear Bella screaming from somewhere behind me but I also realize that they're all too far away to help me. I think about how much I love my Bella as the wolf lunges for me and I brace myself for impact.
