So I just finished up this chapter and I have to say that Sinnoh by far has some of the coolest only anime areas. I look forward to going through some of the more distinct areas. Now Cynthia in this chapter doesn't act like the champion Cynthia. I went off the way she described herself at the beginning of the journey, that pivotal moment hasn't happened to change her yet. Even in this chapter, she won't outright change. I think it'll be a more slow build-up for her personality change. Anyway, I hope you guys liked it. I don't own anything. Feel free to leave reviews.

It was a catastrophic blizzard that threw hard, strong, and extremely cold missiles from the sky creating a vivid image of a country in the state of war. The wilderness was almost instantly paved with a thick, cold, and elegant coat of white. The trees were freed from their green clothes and bushes were crushed due to the grave burden of snow upon their heads.

The wind had howled at an extremely high pitch and threatened anything in its undefined route, and yet I stood there looking towards the cave entrance even as the mountains themselves crumbled with shivers whilst being bombarded with lightning-fast snow ascending towards the face of the mountains.

I was pulled into this nightmare. The warmth of the sun was blocked due to a cover of a hideous, dark, and thunderous blanket of clouds separating the area from the sight of a scorching bright sun, hence bringing an unwanted gift of darkness and great terror.

The snow continued to embark upon the land for what felt like hours. The trees were slaughtered limb by limb and hedges butchered to death. The blizzard at this point seemed to be considered as a brutal warlord attempting to lay an air siege as the mountain was sunk by snow from head to toe, and left dislocated as an 'active war-zone '.

The immovable mountains were left shattered and bruised. Every living and non-living thing was scarred deeply all due to the relentless calamity notoriously known as a 'blizzard'.

The demolition brought fear and hammock to all Pokemon as if a god had razed the area. No man could survive in this weather. My hands were only a blur in front of my face. Yet, I felt no cold. All I could feel was the blazing heat from the white stone on my chest. It was comforting to know that the weather couldn't touch me. I trudged through the snow to a small I could just make out in the blizzard.

Once I had made it to the cave entrance for the first time I felt biting cold. The stone did nothing to stop the slow tingling going up my arms. The cave floor was solid ice and had a fresh blanket of snow. The room was quite dark, but faint streaks of light came from holes in the top of the cave. I tried to walk, but as soon as I took a step I slipped and a loud echo shot across the room. A large lump of snow started to shake and move. I slid close enough to see the moving mass of snow was the ice dragon Kyurem. Its sickly yellow eyes glared down at me and I slowly pushed myself up. Even standing up Kyurem was massive and yet it continued to stare down not at me, but at what was on my chest. It lowered its head and I was close enough to feel its glacial breath.

Kyurem started to growl at me and then the beast growled out "Fin sot kulaan"

I wasn't exactly sure what I should do here. Kyurem had said something to me, but I wasn't sure what it exactly was. Kyurem continued to stare as if he was waiting for an answer. My face became hard and I said "Forgive me, but I do not understand you".

Kyurem snarled and said "Fin yol fen kos consumaan Naal iiz. Sot kulaan, hi fen dreh thdro voth zu'u because hi lost fin sil do aan dova".

Kyurem then leaned away from me and blew out icy cold breath. After the ice move hit me I snapped out of the nightmare. I looked over to see N still sleeping peacefully. He was completely curled up in his sleeping bag. He had a firm hug on his Zorua. I looked to my other side and saw that Mordor was staring at me. I sighed and quietly rubbed his fur. It was soft and the warmth was welcomed. I stayed in my sleeping bag and continued to watch N breathe in and out slowly. We had left Elesa and Aurea back in Nimbasa city. Elesa had decided on tutoring under Titania and Aurea didn't want to pass up on studying the tree. Kukui on the other hand was all for exploring other regions. We left this morning and planned to arrive at the resort in the next few days. I had talked with Cynthia earlier and she said she would be at the resort when we got there. I may have to talk with Cynthia's grandmother and try and figure out what Kyurem had said to me. I soon felt myself fall back asleep and prayed to have a dreamless sleep.

The next morning I was cutting through the clouds on Ancalagon. Even with all my bad experiences with flying it felt amazing riding on Ancalagon. The only problem was he needed a special saddle for me to ride him. Ancalagon's scales while useful for battling were awful for flying. They would dig into my skin so I ended up buying the saddle. The leather was made from Bouffalant fur and leather. The Bouffalant fur was meant to absorb the damage from the harsh dragon scales. It was costly, to say the least. Ancalagon seemed fine with the saddle though. N had decided to start training with his Zorua, so he opted for his Zorua to morph into a Braviary, and N was able to fly next to Kukui and me. The longer we flew the giddier I felt. Ancalagon seemed to pick up on my mood because he was slowly increasing his speed. I was excited. Sinnoh was one of the most religious regions in the world. The lake trio was one of the most interesting pieces of lore. The trio had given humans willpower, emotions, and knowledge. It was strange to think the three pokemon had given us these things considering that my old world had to go through hundreds of thousands of years of evolution to gain all three of these.

Lush green land started to appear just on the horizon and Ancalagon moved even faster through the sky. Ancalagon approached the island and a blue bullet shot straight towards us. My Garchomps muscles tightened and he immediately torpedoed down. I admit I may have screamed. I think Ancalagon took massive amounts of joy in seeing me scream because he only pulled upright as he was about to hit the water. He then gently rose and I was able to see what that blue bullet was. It was another Garchomp and Cynthia was riding it. She had a coy smile on her face and was cheekily waving at me. I huffed at her and guided Ancalagon to the resort land. I looked back to see N and Kukui had finally caught up.

Ancalagon followed Cynthia to her home at the resort. He landed with a thump that caused dust to shoot up into the air. Meanwhile, Cynthia's Garchomp landed gracefully. I shot Ancalagon a dirty look. He knew what he was doing and I had already paid for enough damage that he caused. Cynthia quickly got off her Garchomp and ran over to me to hug me. I quickly returned the hug. Cynthia said, "It is great to see you".

One of my eyebrows rose and pulled out a box of candies from my bag. I asked, "Are you sure it's me you are happy to see and not the famous Unovan candies?"

Cynthia shrugged and said, "The candy is an appreciated surprise."

She then slyly said, "I heard from Professor Rowan you only had four badges. It looks like I am way ahead of you right now. I just got my last badge".

I tilted my head and thought about it. Cynthia most likely stomped all eight of the gyms. I rubbed the back of my head and asked "So you are doing a gym rush then?"

Cynthia's smile turned into a frown and she pointed one of her fingers at me. She accused "You forgot we made that bet."

I groaned and started to wave my hands up in the air. I reassured her "No of course I remember the bet. How could I forget something like that?"

She slowly lowered her finger and asked "Then what was it?"

I turned my head and saw that N and Kukui had landed next to us. I was quick to use this as an excuse to avoid looking at the angry future champion of the Sinnoh region. I said to Kukui "Looks like Ancalagon is still faster".

Kukui just smiled and waved me off. He responded with "I wouldn't worry too much. Braviary is slowly catching up".

I could feel Cynthia seething behind me. She asked, "Who are these people Aragorn?"

I turned back to the angry blond and pointed towards N and Kukui. I said, "This is Kukui. He comes from Alola and was traveling through Unova. We met up not that long ago. He wants to see all of the regions".

Kukui waved and said, "Yo what's up?"

I then pointed at N and said "This is my baby brother. His name is N and his partner is Zorua".

Cynthia's mouth was hanging open and yelled out "You have a little brother? Since when? Does Professor Rowan know? When did you meet him? Why didn't you tell me?"

I held up my hand and pleaded "One question at a time Cynthia. I met up with him in Unova as well. Gramps knows about him".

Cynthia seemed to want to ask a million more questions, but then N came up and asked "Who is the pretty blonde lady?"

I smiled and ruffled his hair. I said, "That pretty blonde is a close friend of mine. Her name is Cynthia and she is really strong".

N looked at her wide-eyed as Cynthia's Garchomp walked next to her. He pointed out "You have a Garchomp just like my big brother. You must be strong".

Cynthia smiled and proudly stated, "Yeah. I bet I can beat your big brother now. My pokemon have gotten stronger. I even have more badges than him".

I rolled my eyes and said, "And she's modest".

Kukui laughed and clapped me on the back. While Cynthia fumed at what I said. Cynthia then pointed at me and said "Don't think you are getting out of our bet".

I sighed and then Kukui spoke up "Oh a bet. What is it?"

Cynthia slowly lowered her finger and said "It was the next time we met. We would see who had more gym badges. Whoever had fewer gym badges would treat the other to an expensive dinner".

Kukui smiled and asked, "Would you mind if we tagged along? I could always use an expensive dinner and since Aragorn is paying I may get something special".

Cynthia was about to say something when I said "No Kukui you can't come. I didn't make the bet with you".

Kukui shrugged and said, "That's fine. N and I will just go grab some food somewhere else in the resort. I can see where Aragorn gets that steely determination".

Cynthia smiled and said, "I made a promise to be the strongest trainer and I am going to follow through with that. No matter who stands in my way".

Kukui nodded and I frowned. That was not something older Cynthia would say. She would always talk about strengthening the bonds between Pokemon and people rather than strength. My best guess would be that Cynthia hadn't had that push to change her yet. Cynthia guided us to her house. It was a mansion, but I wasn't complaining. Once we had been settled in it was almost dinner time. I had lost a bet and I intended to keep my promise. I walked out to the porch of the mansion and looked at the beautiful island. Waves were lapping on the shore and Wingulls were chirping in the distance. The temperature was most likely due to the heat from Stark Mountain and Heatran. It was something that I would look into. While we were unpacking I quickly called up a restaurant to make a reservation for dinner.

I heard Cynthia say behind me "Where are we headed for dinner?"

I raised an eyebrow and said, "I thought you were going to pick a fancy place and I would be paying".

She punched my shoulder and said, "Stop being annoying. You know I wouldn't do something like that".

I turned and smiled at Cynthia. She was right of course, but it never hurt to be too careful. I threw out one of my pokeballs and Ancalagon appeared. Cynthia smiled and took my outstretched hand. I quickly swung up onto Ancalagon and Cynthia followed suit. She quickly wrapped her arms around me and Ancalagon shot off into the sky. It was a quick flight to Almos town and I was quick to start a conversation with Cynthia. I asked, "How did you get all badges in only a few months?"

Cynthia shrugged and said, "Once Garchomp evolved I had already caught four other pokemon and we trained hard in those few months. So I decided to fly on Garchomp and challenge each of the gyms".

I turned in the saddle and looked at Cynthia. I asked, "What about all the memories you would have made if you walked through each of the major cities"?

Cynthia seemed confused and asked, "Why does that matter? My pokemon have gotten stronger and beat all eight gyms. Now I can focus solely on training to stomp the league".

I grew quiet after that. I'm going to enjoy the look on her face when she sees where we are going. We continued to soar through the sky and eventually, we made it to Almos town. The main part of the town is on top of a large mesa in the middle of a lake. There is a bridge connecting the mesa to the mainland. The area around Alamos Town is heavily wooded with many hills and plateaus. Almos town was a small town that not many people knew about, but I was one of the lucky few. It was considered a city of modern art due to the many great painters and artists that worked in the town. Museums and galleries were spread across the whole of the town. I have no doubt Cynthia would love it here. We landed just outside of the city and I was quick to call back Ancalagon.

Cynthia smiled at me and said "It's beautiful here. Where are we going to go first"?

I smiled and was quick to throw out Mordor and Mandos. Cynthia followed suit and threw out her Roserade. I wonder which pokemon she didn't catch yet. She had her Milotic and Garchomp. It would also be interesting to see how her team would change from the games. Mordor curled around my neck and with Mandos at my side I headed towards the market. The market in Almos town was bustling with people looking for dinner. Before we went to get food I bought a small basket to put our food in. I guided Cynthia and me to a small standoff to the side and bought a few different types of food. The three things I bought from the vendor were Empanadas, Gambas al ajillo, and Bacalao. Now that we had the food we could finally go to the spot I had picked out. We brushed past the guests and headed towards the Space-Time Towers. The Space-Time Towers were fascinating and I have no doubt Cynthia would love to see them. The walk to the towers was calm and easy-going. Cynthia and I had shared small talk. The small talk stopped once we had made it to the towers.

Cynthia asked "What is this place? I've never seen anything like this."

I had to agree with her on that. The towers sprouted up from the ground and looked to be a Late Gothic look by design. The two spires had semi-circular arches, the flying buttresses, pointed arches, and its massive heights. Large stained glass windows were depicting a scene of two massive pokemon fighting. I nodded to her and said "They are called the Space-Time Towers. I came across it in an old book I picked up back in Galar."

Cynthia turned to look at me and asked "Why would a book in Galar talk about something in Sinnoh?"

I shrugged and said "I don't know. The book talked about the myth of two pokemon and a fight that broke out between the two of them. The book also said that the fight destroyed the town, but it also noted that the whole Sinnoh region and many others were affected by this clash between the two pokemon. Apparently, it was one of the reasons for Groudon and Kyogre waking up or at least that is what the book said".

Cynthia nodded with stars in her eyes. She seemed to be caught up in the story. I quickly grabbed her hand and pulled her into the tower. We needed to have dinner after all. The inside of the towers was just as beautiful as the outside. We walked into the lobby and the floor was white marble with splashes of greens and golds. In the center was a mural depicting a girl sitting on a tree branch and playing a melody to a group of wild pokemon. I walked right in front of the lobby and asked Cynthia "Which tower do you want to eat in?"

Cynthia asked, "Which one is which?"

I pointed to the left and said "That is the Space Tower. It has large, pink-colored spheres rotating on orbits".

I then pointed to the right and said "That is the Time Tower. It has large, blue-colored pendulums swinging back and forth".

Cynthia looked around the room and said "This is all so beautiful. I think we should go into the Time Tower".

I nodded and the two of us walked into the Time Tower. Just like the rest of the structure, it was beautiful and the architecture illustrated Dialga's incredible power. I quickly placed down the small picnic basket and we sat down. Cynthia's Roserade sat next to her, meanwhile, Mandos took a seat on my right, and Mordor was still curled up around my neck. Our pokemon had eaten before we left. Cynthia wasn't sure where we were going and wanted to make sure our pokemon had eaten. We pulled out our food and ate under the large swinging Pendulums.

Between bites of food, Cynthia asked "Do you know why they built the towers?"

I shook my head and said, "Nope. The book only briefly mentioned the towers. It didn't even mention that they were in Almos town".

Cynthia tilted her head and asked, "Then how did you find it?"

I scratched the back of my head and said "I asked Gramps for a good place to take you. He mentioned that you liked history and Mythology and that he visited a place in Almos town that you would love".

A small smile formed on her face and she said "I will have to thank Professor Rowan then for the wonderful choice".

We fell back into a comfortable silence as we continued to watch the Pendulums swing in an almost hypnotic state. I eventually said, "I wonder if those are real diamonds"?

Cynthia stared at the blue diamonds and said "I would guess that they are. They represent the Legendary Pokemon Dialga. Have you ever heard of Dialga's story?"

I nodded my head and said, "I've heard of it, but would you mind telling me again?"

Cynthia smiled and started "It was said that long ago Dialga, along with the other legendary Pokemon Palkia, had created our world with Roar of Time and Spacial Rend and this erected a pillar in the middle of the world. This would become the Spear Pillar. From the Spear pillar, the two legendaries battled endlessly. Dialga and Palkia both suffered immense damage. The blood slowly seeped from Dialga and it formed into the cycles of day and night. Palkia suffered immense injuries as well and his blood led to the stars littered across the sky. Even with the immense injuries, the two continued to battle and were beyond reasoning with. The two Pokemon are extremely territorial and eventually, the creator of the trio had to create two separate dimensions for Dialga and Palkia. The two pokemon now that they were satisfied left our dimension to explore their new homes. No one truly knows what Palkia or Dialga looks like. All we know is that they were dragons and had two distinct colors. They were Blue and Pink".

I had long since stopped eating and I was enraptured by the story. I eventually said, "That was much better than the story I heard. You would be one hell of a teacher".

She just shook her head and said "I promised to be the strongest trainer in the world, not a teacher."

My smile slipped again and I asked "What about after?"

She tilted her head and asked, "What do you mean after?"

I just shook my head and said "What about after you become the strongest? What do you want to do then?"

She had a determined look on her face and said "I will hold my title and continue to get even stronger".

I just sighed and stood up. I pulled Cynthia up and dragged her outside onto the long and thin winding staircase that led to the top of the tower. Once we reached the top I paused and looked out over the edge. We were so high up that the people below looked like nothing more than ants. The sun had faded and the moonlit up Almos town. I turned to her and said, "Strength isn't everything Cynth".

She laughed mockingly at me and said "Like you would know. You trained and researched years before most of us. All you do is train and push your pokemon. You're a hypocrite".

I scowled and started to rant "You think I want to push myself this hard. Strength isn't something I crave. I would be as happy herding Mareep as becoming the Unova champion. No, I push myself because I know what's out there. Even in your brief description of Palkia and Dialga, it was clear just how strong they are. Palkia's blood formed the stars of the universe. That isn't even mentioning all the crime syndicates in the regions. No, I'm doing this because one day someone is going to push a legendary too far and it is going to go on a rampage. Thousands could die and no one could do a thing. I don't want to be the strongest because I can be. I have to be the strongest. There is no other way".

Cynthia pulled away from my biting response and didn't respond. I took a few deep breaths to relax. It was unfair to yell at her, but all the tension from the past few days had been building up, and hearing her talk like that was not something I wanted. Mandos was quick to place a hand on my shoulder in reassurance. It only made the resentment worse. My Pokemon, my friends, were going to have to fight legendary Pokemon. It was a terrifying thought. I didn't want to put them through that, but they were adamant about staying with me. So I would make them stronger, but the way Cynthia was talking right now reminded me far too much of Paul. She obviously cared for her Pokemon, but she didn't seek out that Pokemon and human bond. I looked over at the still silent Cynthia and said "I'm sorry. I've been under a lot of stress lately. I shouldn't have yelled at you. Let me just have a moment".

Cynthia slowly approached me and asked, "Is it about the story of the Dragon king you told Augustine, Claire, and I about?"

I didn't turn this time and I didn't answer. I continued to watch the night sky and the town below. Soon fireworks shot off in multiple colors and lit up the night sky. It was beautiful. I slowly gripped the white orb on my chest and eventually said "No. Yes. I don't know. The Dragon King is impossibly strong. He is a goal. Something I need to overcome with my Pokemon".

Cynthia leaned on the railing next to me and asked "Then what does worry you? You don't usually lose your cool".

I sighed and looked out at the well-lit city below. The firework show had stopped. I eventually said, "I've been having dreams".

Cynthia looked at me for a second and then she started to laugh. She eventually stopped and said, "I'm sorry. It's just funny to think the untouchable Aragorn is worried over something he has been dreaming about".

Emerald green clashed with smokey grey. The next thing I said was barely above a whisper "I dream of fire and ice every night. War after War. Brothers killing brothers. Pokemon being used as objects of mass destruction. Then sometimes those bodies on the ground have faces. Faces of family, enemies, friends. Everyone is there. Then there is a hill with a lone figure in white armor standing on top of it. Every time I climb that hill to see who would do something like this and every time it's me standing on that hill. I have a dead look in my eye as I watch fire and death rage on."

I pause for a moment and then I continue to explain just what the dreams are "Then I'm pulled away. I find myself in a land of snow and ice. This dream is different though. The snow doesn't make me cold. It is almost like something is protecting me. Keeping me warm. I always have on that same white armor, but there are no flames. There is no war. The only thing in the dream is a small cave. I always walk into the cave and I always meet Kyurem. Kyurem simply being there makes me shiver. Each time I enter the dream he says the same first three words. "Fin sot kulaan", but it has been getting worse. Now he says more and I never understand him. I don't think I want to. Then snow falls into the cave and I can finally feel it. The sharp biting of the cold. I'm thrown out of my dream".

Cynthia slowly places my head in her hands. She forces me to look at her. I wasn't looking at Cynthia, the future champion of Sinnoh, but Cynthia, my friend who I had grown close to over the years. She says "Look at me Aragorn. That isn't you. You would never do something like that. Claire, Augustine, Professor Rowan, and all our other friends are here for you. We will always be ready to help you ".

A sad look came into my eye and I said "That's the point. I don't want anyone to die for me. If I could I would leave all of my Pokemon back at the research lab and face this alone, but I can't. No, each one of them wants to fight next to me and it terrifies me. I need to be strong enough to fight these threats alone. I won't risk your lives with these Legendaries".

Cynthia frowned and let go of my face. She then proceeded to hit me and said "How dare you think we are so shallow. You think any of your friends would hide away while you fought off Pokemon that destroyed full regions. No, you don't get to be that selfish. You can't come into our lives and then simply vanish because you fought something too strong for you. No, I won't stand for it".

I shook my head and said, "Better me than you".

Cynthia pulled away from me and then instead of slapping me again, she started to beat on my chest. I wrapped my arms around her and waited till the blows stopped coming. I eventually looked down to see my shirt had gotten wet. Cynthia scowled and backed away from me. She said, "You are a jerk. You don't get to be a martyr Aragorn. Promise me now you won't do something suicidal. I still need to beat you in a pokemon battle when you are at your peak".

I closed my eyes and imagined all the future problems I would have to deal with. I never was good when one of my friends cried so I forced a smile onto my face and said "I promise I will do my best to stay alive. I need to hold my zero loss record against you don't I".

Cynthia smiled and we continued to watch the city for a while longer. She eventually said, "I think I understand now".

I looked at her and asked, "Understand what?"

Cynthia elaborated "I understand why you got so annoyed when I said I wanted to be the strongest trainer. It wasn't because you were intimidated by me. It's because you are worried about what I'll do once I get there".

I shrugged and said "You are partially right. I was worried, but it's more than that. Being strong is a good goal, but it shouldn't be your only goal. If it is you start to lose yourself to it. I don't want you to make that mistake. I want you to do something you love. Trust me when I say you should never give up a happy middle in the hopes of a happy ending. I care about all of you and I will protect that".

Cynthia scrunched her nose up and playfully hit me. She said, "You sound like an old man. Stop worrying and follow your own words of advice. Enjoy the moment".

I smiled and nodded my head. We sat there for a while and simply enjoyed the view. Eventually, we left the towers and went back to the resort. It was nearly twelve when we got back, but I did enjoy the dinner. All things considered. Yet, I knew that the dreams would plague me tonight just as they did every other night. This one would be far worse than the others though. It always was. I sat on the porch and held up the fossil I still had from my run-in with Team Cipher and Team Plasma. I would need to use a fossil machine to welcome the next member of my team.

Now I thought I'd put a small spin on the lore in the region. Not even really change it, but more like just patching in details. I also had Kyurem speaking in the Skyrim dragon language. I felt since he was a legendary it would have a way to communicate even if it was a lost language. I hope I described the Space-Time Towers well enough. I always thought they were super interesting. I hope the slow build-up in Cynthia's personality was good too. The next chapter may have a battle or two and some more exploring of the Sinnoh region. The next team member is coming too and it's a fossil. Let's be honest all fossils are awesome. Feel free to review.

Aragorn's team:

Smaug (Arcanine) moves:

Thunder fang, psychic fang, fire fang, play rough, ember, extreme speed, quick attack, flame thrower, fire burst, will-o-wisp, flame wheel, crunch,

New moves: flare(a blinding light that stuns enemies), eruption (Flames spread across the floor that erupts like volcanoes), Magnetism (a field of electricity that is used like protect that can paralyze opponents when one touches it), Fire control (takes extreme concentration to use and leaves him extremely tired), Ameterasu (Smaug has only done this attack once, but it is a pure white flame that can only be put out due to time)

He controls the blood in an opponent's body), icy domain (Mithril freezes the floor around him and skates across the floor), Water torrent (Water forms around Mithril's flipper and spins in angry torrents. It greatly resembles Sasuke's Chidori in a water form. It has the same power as one of Blastoise cannons. Aragorn has been trying to mix it with other moves to increase its power even more), more moves to come, Water javelins (they are water javelins)
