White Clouds
Day 1 of the Verdant Rain Moon
There are new places for Bambietta to explore in the monastery. She received 4,000 G from the Church of Seiros as funding for this month's activities.
Audience Chamber
"I have a new mission for you, Professor." Rhea declared. "I would like for you to take your students into Kingdom territory to eliminate some thieves."
"They stole a Hero's Relic from House Gautier of the Holy Kingdom of Faerghus-the Lance of Ruin. Their leader's name is Miklan. He is apparently a disowned son of House Gautier." Seteth explained.
"Why was he disowned?" Bambietta asked.
"I believe it has something to do with his lack of a Crest. Such happenings are fairly common within the Kingdom." Seteth answered.
"The Crestless cannot unleash the goddess's power, even if they possess a Relic. Nonetheless, they are still capable of simply wielding those weapons." Rhea said.
"The Heroes' Relics are immensely powerful weapons. We must meet this threat with adequate force. Unfortunately, most of the Knights of Seiros are away from the monastery purging the apostates of the Western Church. So we are entrusting you with this mission. After all, you wield the Sword of the Creator, which is more than capable of opposing any Relic." Seteth told.
"The Sword of the Creator is a powerful weapon, well beyond the other Relics. You have nothing to fear." Rhea assured. "However, to ensure that no harm comes to the students, we will also send the monastery's most skilled individuals to aid you."
"I must remind you that you are expected to conduct yourself in a manner befitting the wielder of that holy sword. Also, you should know that Professor Hanneman has been looking for you. That is all." Seteth sent off.
Bambietta encounters Claude. "Hey, Teach. I gotta say, I never would've guessed you were a descendant of the King of Liberation." Claude reported. "You didn't forget, did you? That story I told you about a Relic that could cut a mountain in half? That Relic was the Sword of the Creator! The very same used by Nemesis, the King of Liberation."
"Huh? What are you talking about? I'm not his descendant. Stop talking grade-A nonsense!" Bambietta ordered.
"Don't be coy, Teach. The Sword of the Creator could only be wielded by Nemesis. If you can use it too, that can only mean you have that bloodline's Crest." Claude explained.
"I don't understand..." Bambietta replied.
"Fine, keep your secrets. But just so you know, "I don't understand" isn't gonna cut it here at the monastery. Speaking of, Professor Hanneman has been looking for you."
"So I've been told."
"He probably wants to examine your Crest with those crazy instruments of his. Actually... sounds amusing. Maybe I'll tag along."
"If it isn't my little Claude! What has you so worked up?" A woman with brown hair and dark golden and black clothing asked as she appeared.
"Judith!? What are you doing here?" Claude asked back.
"That's Lady Judith to you, boy. I told you, until you're in charge, I expect you to address me with all due respect. Anyway, I'm here to retrieve you. Duke Riegan's condition has taken a turn for the worse." Judith told.
"Are you saying the old man's on his death bed?"
"No, it's not that bad. But in the state he's in, he won't be able to participate in the next roundtable conference. He wants you to go in his stead. I volunteered to play the messenger."
"Well, thanks for that. Oh, and Teach, this is Judith. Also known as the Hero of House Daphnel." Claude introduced to Bambietta.
"So you're little Claude's teacher, are you? How much trouble has he been giving you?" Judith asked.
"Eh... Not too much." Bambietta answered with a so-so motion.
"If her nickname didn't give it away, you should know that Judith-er, Lady Judith is the leader of the famous House Daphnel of the Leicester Alliance. She used to be a big deal at the roundtable conferences, but it seems of late she's been reduced to a mere-"
"You had better shut that mouth before I put my boot in it, you tactless nuisance! Now come on. Let's get going." Judith ordered. "Sorry, Professor, but I need to borrow the boy for a bit."
"I suppose we'll have to finish our chat later. Sorry, Teach." Claude apologized. "But don't you worry. I'll be back in time for our next mission. All right, Judith. Let's get going."
"It's Lady... Ah, I suppose you are the active leader for the time being. Fair enough, boy. Fair enough." Judith grumbled as she and Claude leave.
Later, Hanneman's Room
Bambietta talks to Hanneman. "Good of you to come, Professor Bambietta. I've heard much about you lately. Specifically, that you were able to awaken the Sword of the Creator's power. Thusly, it seems the true nature of your Crest has been uncovered. I had, of course, seen your Crest before. However, at first, I failed to recognize its true nature. Eventually, it dawned on me that what is visible is perhaps merely a small part of a greater whole. In other worse, your Crest is too significant to be detected when using normal instruments. After this discovery, I began researching Crests that might fit that description, which allowed for a temporary hypothesis. However, I could not be certain. The Crest my conclusions led me to was far too unusual. A Crest thought to have disappeared from this world in the millennium since the fall of Nemesis, the King of Liberation. The Crest of Flames. That is what you possess." Hanneman explained.
"The Crest of Flames...?" Bambietta repeated.
"Your ability to wield the Sword of the Creator has unequivocally proven my hypothesis. A legendary power, dormant since time immemorial, and now resurrected... There can be no doubt that this ancient power resides within you." Hanneman declared.
Day 3 of the Verdant Rain Moon
Bambietta POV
It's Manuela's birthday. I gave her flowers.
Day 10 of the Verdant Rain Moon
I decide to explore for the day. I first talk to Sothis. "A stone? A stone... I do not understand. Yet as I think of it, the pounding in my chest grows faster still. But is that me...or is it you? Hmm..." Sothis hummed in thought. I go to Seteth.
"Ah, Professor. Jeralt was looking for you." Seteth told me.
"He was? Where is he?" I asked him.
"It seems he has gone off somewhere. If he is not in his room, then surely someone has seen him. Ask around." Seteth asked of me.
As I made my way through the second floor of the monastery, I see Leonie and talk to her about Jeralt. "Oh, Professor! Are you looking for Captain Jeralt? I just saw him in the knights' hall a little while ago. He was talking with a female knight, but I didn't get a good look at who she was." Leonie reported.
"Thanks. I think I know who that female knight was. At least, one whose face I can actually see." I thanked her. I went into the Knights' Hall to talk to Catherine.
"Oh, Jeralt? He said something about visiting a grave. There's a graveyard attached to the monastery, so you'll probably find him there. I can't remember where the graveyard is, but I bet Seteth knows." Catherine said.
"Thanks. I'll ask him about it." I said as I attempt to leave.
"Hey, Professor." Catherine suddenly called. "You're good-looking, you know that?"
"Excuse me?" I asked. I didn't really expect that from Catherine, of all people.
"At the same time, you look like someone who was born to fight. I bet we'd get along. I'm also good-looking and born to fight, heh! Need any help with your class?"
...Well, that's a question I have to answer...
"Yeah. Sure. Thanks for the help." I nodded.
"Feel free to call on me when a fight's brewing. Thunderbrand and I will be there when you need us." Catherine declared. She is now going to work with me.
I'm sure I know where the graveyard is too. After all, I did see it on my way to a Priest. I find Jeralt looking over a grave. "Dad!" I called as I run to him.
"Hey. I wanted to ask you to join me, but I couldn't find you. So here I am. I was thinking we should visit... your mother. She's resting beneath this humble grave..." Jeralt told me.
"Huh? Why is her grave here?" I asked him.
"Hm? Oh. Of course you would ask that. I wouldn't know where to begin... I suppose I haven't talked much about her. She was gentle and smart. So smart. A wonderful cook. Always kind to everyone. And...she loved flowers. Whenever I brought her back an unusual flower, her face would light up. I cherish those memories. I can't count how many times she made me happy just by smiling. And she smiled the most... when she was pregnant with you." Jeralt started to answer.
...My... My mom...
"She died right after you were born. She wasn't able to spend much time with you. But she loved you with all her heart. That's the truest thing I know... Never forget it. This ring is the only keepsake I have of her. In time, it will be yours. One day, I hope you'll give this ring to someone you love as well as I love her." Jeralt hoped.
"Dammit, Bambi... Don't... Don't cry... You're... You're supposed... to be strong..." I sobbed to myself as I tried to wipe my tears away.
"Hey... It's okay to cry." Jeralt told me. "It's a sign that you are truly alive."
After crying my heart out...
"Thanks, dad... I'll... always cherish this moment..." I declared. I report to Seteth.
"So, you found Jeralt visiting a grave, did you? Interesting. I would not have expected him to know anyone buried here. Still...none of my business, I suppose." Seteth said as he rewards me with Duscur Bear, two Mint Leaves, some renown, and 500G.
I accepted some quests here and there, one that, once cleared, allowed me to use the Blacksmith store. Another gave me access to the Sauna. I then went to speak to Linhardt.
"I admit I wish I could've been there to see it all, even if it does make me queasy. But I was there too early. I'd gone first thing in the morning. At noon, one of the monks chased me out saying I'd been there too long. Who were they to decide when I've been somewhere too long?" Linhardt asked.
"I dunno." I shrugged. "Say... You mind joining the Golden Deer?"
"Your class seems pretty...relaxed... My Professor is so strict. So is the house leader. What do you say? I believe I'd enjoy being a member of your class." Linhardt declared.
"Hey, I was asking you first. Heh. Anyway, yeah. You can join my House." I nodded.
"Wonderful. I look forward to watching you close-up. Uh, that is to say, observing your teaching style. By the way, I'll need some for naps. Two hours of class time should be sufficient." Linhardt said.
After that, I had three of my students participate in the House Vs. House Lance tournament we had this month. Sylvain managed to win it for the Golden Deer. Damn Dimitri...
Either way, I got the Intermediate Seal and a total of 700G for it.
The bell tolls, ending my free time for today. Whoops.
Day 11
I start instructions with Lysie. I get to work on her Faith, allowing her to access the white magic Heal.
I instruct Hilda on authority. I then work on her lance skills, giving her the Combat Art Knightkneeler. I then gave her one instructing session on Bows.
I instruct Catherine and Linhardt on two things each and that was it.
I began my lecture, but before I could, Ingrid came up to me with a question. "Art has never been my forte. Even when I apply myself and sketch a ton, I don't seem to improve much. I can envision an image so perfectly in my head, but turning it into something physical that I feel good about eludes me..."
I give her an answer that leaves her mildly motivated. She then gives me a suggestion to her goals. "I've studied the sword since I was young, but seeing how far some of the others have come has made me keenly aware that my own skills could use refining. I'd like to focus on my sword skills to excel as a sword fighting class."
"Sure. Why not?" I shrugged.
Day 16
Claude and Mari report their perfect success.
The students report their findings in training.
Claude learned the combat art Monster Blast and the ability Bow Prowess Lv 3.
Ignatz learned the combat art Grounder.
Lysie learned the ability Reason Lv 3.
Mari learned the combat art Grounder.
Leonie learned the combat art Monster Piercer and the ability Lance Prowess Lv 3.
So did Sylvain.
Day 17
I decided to go for some certifications. Hilda first. It's between an Armored Knight and a Brigand. I flip a coin and it landed on Tails. Brigand it is. She passes the exam.
Next up is Leonie. It's between Cavalier and Archer. I flip the coin again and it landed on Heads. Cavalier it is. She passes the exam. She obtained a bonus in luck.
Next is Ferdinand. It's between Cavalier and Brigand. Armored Knight too, but that's not a guarantee. I flip the coin again and it landed on Heads again. Another Cavalier it is. He passes.
Next is Caspar. It's between Brigand and Brawler. I flip the coin again and it landed on Tails. Brawler it is. He passes. He obtains a bonus in magic. ...For some reason.
Next is Sylvain. Like Ferdinand, it's between Cavalier and Brigand. I flip the coin again and it landed on Heads. ...Another Cavalier. Sheesh. Whatever. He passes.
Next up is Ingrid. It's between Mercenary, Thief, Cavalier, and Pegasus Knight. I flip the coin again. If it was Heads, it's between Mercenary and Thief. If it's Tails, it's between Cavalier and Pegasus Knight. It landed on Heads. Okay. Now for the second flip. Heads. Mercenary it is.
Okay. Now that that's over with, time I did more exploration and fully motivated six of my students. I then felt like I could do more for instructing and exploration. I also felt like I could receive more funds for monthly activities! I then learned about Adjutants and Master Classes.
Day 18
I first instruct Claude on Faith, getting up to E+.
I move on to Raphael and instruct him on Faith as well, doing the same.
I instructed Ignatz four times on Reason, getting him to excel in Reason and giving him the ability Seal Strength. I instructed him once on Faith.
