Robby pov
"Did you hear that?" Murphy says as he walks back to the edge.
"Hey. Hey someone's down there," Monroe says pointing to a branch sticking out of the cliff where a hand is clasped tightly around it. The whimpering hasn't stopped. I can't even imagine how scared she is. Imagine waiting a lifetime to get to the ground only to have your ship crash, your people die, and be hanging on for dear life on the edge of a cliff. Talk about a warm welcome.
"Hey! Up here!" Bellamy says.
"Please help me!" The voice shouts.
"Mel?!" Sterling says suddenly.
"You know her?" I ask.
"Yeah she's my friend we have to do something," he responds alarmed and looks around frantically.
"Of course we will. We need to find a rope or something," I say and look around.
"Help me! Sterling please!" She shouts as Sterling and I walk to look for a rope in the wreckage.
"Just hold on! Hold on Mel!" Sterling says in an encouraging tone.
"You can do it! Just a little bit longer!" I yell down.
"Robby we don't have time for this," Finn says grabbing my shoulder.
I've had it with Finn's bullshit. He's been getting on my nerves ever since we've left the dropship and I've had enough. Everything he's done since we left Camp Jaha has been selfish and downright cruel.
"Get the fuck off me," I say gritting my teeth.
"Robby we—" he starts to say.
I clock him in the nose as hard as I can. Unlike the last time I punched him where I was bloodied and bruised from training, I was fully functional besides a recovering broken nose and some healing slash wounds.
"What the hell?!" He says holding his bloody nose.
"I've dealt with your bullshit long enough! I've had it with you all about me attitude. You just want to find Clarke and God fucking damn everyone else right. If Clarke was with us, I bet you wouldn't give a shit about everyone else. Tell me if I'm wrong! The war with the grounders left scars on ALL OF US, NOT JUST YOU. So QUIT ACTING LIKE A NARCISSISTIC PIECE OF SHIT! I want my fucking brother back cause your not him!" I say and walk away.
"Robby—" he begins to say.
"NO! We save who we can today," I say and leave to help Sterling.
"Hold me," Sterling says.
"I got you," I say.
"Murphy tie a knot on that rock. Please," I follow up to avoid one of his dickish remarks about me giving him orders.
"I'm starting to like this new you," he says smirking.
"Shut up Murphy," I say.
"Looks like we're taking that break after all huh?" Murphy says sarcastically to Bellamy.
We hold the rope as Sterling slowly climbs down.
"You doing alright down there?" I ask Mel.
"I'd be better if I was up there," she responds.
"That's the spirit!" I say encouragingly more so to myself than her.
To be honest, I'm shaking in my boots right now.
"I'm almost there! Once I have her, pull us up!" Sterling yells up to us.
"I'd say he's heard one to many of your motivational speeches," Murphy says in a snarky voice.
"Shut up Murphy," Bellamy responds.
"Murphy, your sarcasm isn't needed right now," I say annoyed.
Suddenly we hear a whiplash and I'm pulled forward and begin to slide rapidly toward the cliff. I let go of the rope out of pure instinct to not fall off the cliff.
"No!" Finn shouts and grabs my arm to stop me from sliding off the cliff.
"Sterling!" Bellamy yells.
I listen in horror as Sterling's screams grow quieter and further away until his body smashes against a rock and flings further down.
"Fuck! Fuck!" I say punching the ground.
Monroe puts her hands on her head and begins to pant.
"Mel! Mel! Hold on!" I say and go to find another rope.
"Focus on me you can do this!" Bellamy yells down to her.
"Nooo!" She says in distress.
"Yes you can you're strong!" Bellamy yells down.
"I'm not strong! Stubborn maybe!" She yells back up.
If it wasn't for the dire situation, I'd have probably laughed at that.
"So be stubborn a little longer!" Bellamy instructs.
"Yeah, we're not gonna let you die. You hear me?" He assures her.
She frantically nods as she holds on for dear life.
Finn begins to protest, but Bellamy cuts him off. Finn begins to yell at Bellamy before I cut him off.
"Clearly I didn't punch you hard enough! You're still acting like a selfish lunatic!" I say.
"Finny, we save who we can today," I say more calmly.
"Sterling was one of us. She was his friend. I'm in," Monroe says.
"How do we do it?" Murphy asks.
"Go find new rope from the wreckage. Wires, seatbelts, anything," Bellamy instructs.
Murphy and Monroe leave to look for more rope.
"I hope you guys are right about this," Finn says angrily and storms off.
"So do I," Bellamy answers.
We spend the next half hour assembling a rope out of seatbelts. Bellamy volunteers to go down. I'm reluctant to agree because I can't lose another friend, but I ultimately let him because someone has to.
"All right ease it down slowly," Murphy says.
"Got it," I respond.
We slowly walk toward the edge as Bellamy finally gets low enough to grab Mel. I can't hear what he's saying, but I can tell he's trying to calm her down which makes me feel better. When Mel grabs on to Bellamy, the extra weight causes forces us to pull harder, but we don't let go.
"I got her! Pull us up," Bellamy says.
"Don't you worry Bellamy! I won't drop ya," Murphy says sounding genuine.
"Just pull Murphy," Finn says in a struggle.
We struggle, but are making slow progress.
"Come on Murphy," Finn says through gritted teeth.
"We're almost there come on," I say through gritted teeth as I struggle with everyone else.
The rope suddenly snaps and everyone falls back except Murphy and I. The rope burns into my hands and I bite my lip hard as I grab on the metal seat belt clip. Murphy also holds on tight as he grabs my arm to keep me from slipping and falling.
"Aahhh little help," Murphy says frantically as Finn and Monroe move to help us.
Finn moves and we all grunt loudly as we pull with all our might. Lincoln would he proud of me because I'm definitely getting my workout for the day. I'd still rather haul the rocks and logs across that damn river though.
"What the hell is happening up there?!" Bellamy asks in a frantic terror.
"Just hold on!" Finn says.
Suddenly an arrow flies and lands beside us.
"GROUNDERS!" Monroe shouts.
"Hold em off. We got this for now!" I yell at Monroe who scrambles toward a gun.
"How many are there?!" Bellamy yells.
"We can't see them!" Finn answers.
"In the trees! Aim for the trees!" I shout.
An arrow flies right by us and we roll to the side while still holding on tight. I'm praying to whatever God is out there that I don't slip on the dirt or Bellamy and Mel are dead.
Monroe let's put a scream of pain as an arrow flies into her leg.
"He's gonna need to cut her loose we can't do this," Murphy says in a struggle.
"Eeeerrrrghh no! Just keep pulling!" I say through gritted teeth.
"Cut her loose! Cut her loose!" Murphy keeps yelling.
"No!" I yell back.
Suddenly a foghorn blows loudly.
We all go silent, but keep pulling.
"Monroe! Back on the rope come on!" Finn yells in desperation and his voice cracks a little.
After a lot of struggle, we finally pull the two of them up and we all collapse in exhaustion.
I'm laying on my back panting like a dog and looking at my raw, bleeding hands. I look over a Murphy who is sitting there next to me.
"Thank you," I say genuinely.
He nods at me as we lay there. Mel collapses on top of Finn. Bellamy pats Murphy, Monroe, and I on the shoulder.
"We have to take cover from the fog," Finn says.
However, a voice that I've been waiting a lifetime to hear startles the hell out of me.
"Bellamy!" A very familiar voice shouts.
I breathe very anxiously as I'm tempted to look at the source, but somehow am too nervous for no apparent reason. I guess I had a hundred different plans for our reunion, but what am I gonna say. I slowly turn my head to see none other than Octavia, the love of my life standing there looking at us in awe. She looks the same as the day she left except she changed her hair. It's slicked back and has braids that almost look like a grounder. It looks incredibly sexy. Her sword is in its holder on her back and she's holding the foghorn in her hand. She begins to walk toward us with an awestruck expression on her face. I want to throw myself into her arms and stay there forever, but I'm too tired to move.
"She blew the horn," Murphy says.
"Octavia," Bellamy whispers in utter shock.
They walk up to each other, pause, and then hug tightly. I finally force myself to my feet and walk toward her and Bellamy.
They break their hug and she looks around for a second.
"R..ro where?" she begins to say between breaths
Bellamy stands aside and gestures to me.
Before he finishes his gesture I smile and say "right here."
Finally our eyes meet. For a moment the world stops moving, time stops flowing, that moment of eye contact lasts an eternity, but lasts no more than a second before we're running toward each other. She throws herself into my arms and hugs me so hard I can barely breathe. I pick her up and twirl her around in pure joy as she laughs.
"Octavia, I love you more than anything. I love you more than this damn planet itself," I say and we hug again.
"I love you so much," she whispers in my ear.
"Oh, also, I love your hair," I say.
She smirks and our lips collide. The kiss portrays days of longing and every thought of relief and it's a moment I never want to end. We break apart even though I do not want to in the slightest.
"You two done yet?" Murphy's sarcastic voice.
We both freeze and separate a bit embarrassed. I completely forgot that everyone was here with us. I look at Bellamy and give him an embarrassed smile. He shakes his head and curls his lip into a half smile. I put my arm around her and we walk toward the rest of the group and begin to prepare to head back to camp.
Authors note: this chapter was fun to write. I apologize if people felt like Robby and Octavia's reunion stole from the blake siblings' reunion, but I had to make it emotional. Octavia and Bellamy's reunion was a moment in the show that I cherished, but I've also looked forward to having Robby and Octavia reunite in this season also.
