Welcome back Ultras to the latest chapter of The Ultra 10 Chronicles! This one is so action packed, that I wrote it in one sitting! From about four in the afternoon to one in the morning! I've done some editing and reviewing, but I really hope that it flows smoothly and is as exciting to read as it was to write!
*IMPORTANT MESSAGE*
I know some of my weaknesses in writing, and in an attempt to build a better U10-verse, I have been thinking about offering some other authors on here to write a chapter here or there, or parts of chapters. I've gotten the base plot already written out for the first installment of the U10 Chronicles, and so I would message you several plot points for you to work with, and give you two weeks or more to complete it. (Of course, I will attribute the chapter or parts of a chapter to you.) You can also simply suggest story arcs or plot points for chapters you're not working on! If you, or another author you know of, are interested in possibly contributing one or more chapters, or parts of a chapter, please private message me, and we can talk about it. I am also open to side-stories, fill-in or filler stories, or alternate stories within the U10-verse. If you let me know your ideas, I can provide some further details as to how it can tie in. (This also helps my writing as it gives me better plot-points to which tie into or grow the story from.)
I am in no way trying to record everything that happens within the U10-verse, nor everything that happens with Ben, Gwen or their journey. This is a chronicle, and doesn't contain everything that I've thought of. Just the main highlights of their journey. (That is why some chapters take place over a day, and others over months.) In fact, there is a MAJOR story arc down the line that takes place with Ben and Gwen's interactions with their alternate selves from other universes. The U10-verse is large, and I can't write it all. So it is open to anyone who would like to add to it! Thanks for reading the message!
*END MESSAGE*
There are several trigger warnings that apply to this chapter. First of all, there is a lot of death, though none of it is violent or graphic. (A battle scene.) It is just about the latter half of the chapter. There are also several instances of choice words. The first one is two paragraphs after, "Last warning!" The officer said, backing up. Step back!" (Sorry, that's about as specific as I can get.)
The second instance is in the beginning of the paragraph after, "I didn't know that anyone lived here, Gwen apologized." The last instance is in the paragraph after, "All of a sudden, from behind them, the back wall exploded..."
The first soundtrack for the chapter is "Fight Song" by Rachel Platten. It summed up Gwen's rising to the occasion with her fight with Charmcaster. You can listen to it on Youtube. Youtube watch?v=XbxNtPiCBK8.
The second soundtrack for this chapter is "Blow Me Away" by Breaking Benjamin. I felt that it really well complimented the second half of the chapter, Vilgax's attack. You can listen to it on Youtube. Youtube watch?v=svdR8_w1N0Y.
Enjoy the chapter!
The Ultra 10 Chronicles: Volume 1: The Beginnings of Ultra 10
Chapter 22: An Uninvited Guest
In Bellwood, at the old fishing docks
A hooded figure slowly made his way through the dark streets of the industrial district. Although the fishing industry had just about died out years ago, the majority of the industrial district was still pumping away with the factories and warehouses.
All of the pollution from the factories combined together with the fog from the bay to produce a dense cloud of smog that lazily wafted through the abandoned streets. It didn't happed every night here, but it was often enough to even spook off some of the local gangs from prowling around here at night.
They were smart to do so, too. Bellwood was at a center of magical convergence. So much mana would surely play tricks on a person's mind if they allowed fear to dominate for too long. This of course played into the rampant crime in the city, that is, until the hero Ultra 10 and his sidekick Lucky Girl, showed up.
However, this didn't interest Hex too much. Bellwood wasn't his city. He'd chosen the swamps outside of New Orleans as his residence. There the magical convergence was many times more powerful than Bellwood, which allowed him to exercise his magic virtually without limits. So he cared very little about Bellwood's crime rate.
What he did care about however, was power. His power. And the Arcamada Book of Spells was his gateway to greater power. It would lead him to the last of the Charms of Bezel. That is why he was here. When he had fought Roselyn Arcamada all those years ago, he'd managed to collect some of her blood. Not enough to summon the book with, but just enough to imbue a knife with. A knife with the purpose to kill Roselyn and her descendants, once and for all.
That is why he was here. If he was going to be able to defeat Lucky Girl, whom he knew to be a descendant of Roselyn, then the knife would be his tool to do so.
However, Bellwood's mana was different than New Orleans' mana. Here the mana was more raw and unrefined. The Voodoo witches had been cultivating New Orleans for centuries, and the mana was very powerful and orderly. It wanted to obey. Here, it was more chaotic. Magic here tended to want to return to the ether. It desires to return to chaos. And so his magical knife, once lost, had been very hard to find.
Hex continued down another alley, feeling for his knife. Searching amidst the smog and darkness for something that was familiar to him. He'd been covering this entire district for weeks, and he was very close now. He could sense it. The faintest hint of his mana had grown as he had come closer. Like a bloodhound, he could almost smell his knife trying in vain to return to chaos.
"That's it," Hex muttered. He turned from the alley he was walking down and headed towards the bay. Yes, he was definitely onto his knife now. He continued towards the dock. As he approached, he felt the aura of his knife stronger and stronger. The knife was begging him, pleading to be left alone. To return to the Earth. To not be used to kill. But its desires were futile.
"Insolent weapon," Hex spat. "I am your master, and you are my slave. You do as I command! I will use you as I will!" With his fury, Hex could feel the knife's resolve again fade away, as it submitted to his will. Finally, he could feel the exact location of the blade. Hex sat crossed-legged as he began to hover in the air above the bay. His eyes glowed a dark red as black lightning arced all over his body.
"Telepustae noceren locum admanum conserverea metreon doga revelum!" Hex chanted the dark magic words. The smog swirled around and around until it plunged into the sluggish water. A moment later the water began to move. It bubbled as something from beneath rapidly came up to the surface. Then it emerged.
A creature made of mud, stones, seaweed and sticks burst up from the water. In its muddy paw it held the knife. The blade was covered itself in just as much foul-smelling substances that the gollum was made of, but its runes glowed with a golden glow.
Hex grabbed the blade, and with it, floated back over to the shore. The golem followed its creator, a sluggish pace behind its master.
"Come, we shall return to New Orleans," Hex commanded the creature.
"Yes, master," the golem complied. The two made their way down the old streets of the fishing district. As they turned onto a wider street, a police car flashed its siren at Hex. However, Hex wasn't interested in complying.
"Take care of the non-magical," Hex ordered the golem without even breaking his stride.
"Yes, master," the golem muttered as it turned towards the police, who was getting out of the car.
"Hey, I'm going to have to ask you what your friend is doing with that knife," the police addressed the golem. "And ask you to take off the suit."
"I protect the master!" The golem said, as it slammed its fist down onto the police car. The car's front hood was dented in, sending the car's sirens blaring.
"Woah!" The officer shouted, noticing that he was outmatched in the strength department. He quickly drew his pistol. "Step back, sir!"
"I protect the master!" The golem said again, stepping closer to the officer.
"Last warning!" The officer said, backing up. "Step back!"
"I protect the master!" The golem said again. The cop pulled the trigger, firing a round into the golem's chest. The bullet passed right through the golem, exiting out the other side. The creature was unfazed.
"What the hell?" The officer said, and fired several more rounds into the golem.
"I protect the master!" The golem said again, as it lunged forward at the officer.
"Ahh!" The officer shouted as he reached for his radio. However, the golem quickly covered the cop, absorbing him into his muddy figure. "Hel-" The officer's shout was cut off as his head was absorbed. A moment later, and the golem appeared to melt away, reducing into little more than a muddy puddle filled with sticks and rocks. In the center of the puddle was a mud-covered officer, laying still as death. He no longer drew breath.
"A shame that the creature fulfilled its order," Hex sighed as he continued through the abandoned streets. "He could have been a useful servant."
Swamplands outside of New Orleans
"I saw those charms laying out, and instantly knew that none of these useless creatures are that dumb!" The angry girl said, pride evident in her voice. "Now who the hell are you?" Gwen slowly turned around.
There in front of her stood a woman. She looked to be about sixteen years old. She had long, silvery hair. It was pulled back into a ponytail, and fell all the way down to her waist. She wore a magenta colored, trench-coat type of coat that was split into several tails that fell down around her ankles. It was highlighted with purple which matched the purple leggings she wore.
Around her waist she wore a satchel. It was overall tan, but had stitching on it resembling a creepy face, like a shrunken head. Its mouth was the zipper, being zipped shut. Up and down her sleeves she had runes stitched into her coat, and although they were black now, they reminded Gwen of the runes etched into Hex's knife. She had a pretty face, with bright violet eyes that grew darker as they moved towards the pupil. Overall, although she was physically pretty, she carried a creepy, voodoo-like feeling about her.
"Well? Who are you?" She demanded. "I'd like to get your name before I kill you."
"I'm Lucky Girl," Gwen said.
"And I'm the Queen of England," the girl said. "If you were lucky, you'd have never come into my house. And now you're going to pay for it!" She spied the two charms that Gwen had connected to her sash.
"The Charms?" The girl asked. "You have the remainder of them! And you thought that you'd steal the others?"
"I didn't know that anyone lived here," Gwen apologized.
"Like I give a damn about that," the girl fired back. "I'll kill you, and then give those charms to my uncle as a trophy! That will prove my ability to him as a sorceress!" With that she reached into her satchel and pulled out two small pebbles. She threw them onto the ground, where they glowed with purple mana.
Immediately, the two pebbles began to grow in size, taking on a appearance that was roughly humanoid. They were were hunch-backed with powerful forearms and a sloping back. They appeared somewhat like a gorilla, except that they were covered with glowing runes. Their eyes were empty pits that glowed with a ball of mana.
The two creatures charged at Gwen, who leapt over them, landing on her feet. The two creatures tried to skid to a stop, slamming into the wall as they did so.
"Flame!" The girl shouted, as a ball of fire lit in her hand. She threw it at Gwen, who ducked to avoid it. Behind her, the two golems charged her again. She jumped up, trying to leap over them again.
"Flame!" Another fireball shot towards Gwen as she was in the air. It struck her, burning a hole through her legging on her calf.
"Ahh!" Gwen shouted in pain as she was burned and fell to the ground. However, the girl had been too intent on Gwen, and hadn't noticed the two golems that were barreling towards her. They slammed into her, sending her flying into the air.
"Oof!" She gasped as she also landed. Gwen reached down to her burn on her leg.
"Calor subsisto," she muttered, and felt the heat subside. She stood up and got ready for another attack.
"You stupid golems!" The girl shouted at the rock creatures she'd created. Get her!" The creatures turned around and ran at her again.
"Bombarda!" Gwen shouted, as she saw one of the creatures explode in a shower of dust and debris.
"Malgante!" The girl shouted, and hit Gwen with a powerful blast of mana. Then the rock golem hit her, sending her into the air. She landed on the ground hard.
"Now, golem," the girl said with pleasure. "Crush her!" The golem charged her again. Gwen was in a lot of pain, and she tried to get up, to to focus enough to cast a spell. However, she was just a bit too slow, and the golem ran at her. She squoze her eyes shut, ready for the impact.
Then she opened her eyes to see an odd sight. The golem was tangled up in a mass of branches. The branches lifted it up and threw it out the window, shattering the window and breaking down a portion of the wall as it did so. Gwen got up to her feet.
"You! How did you do that?" The girl asked. "Agh! It doesn't matter! You're still going to die! Malgante!" Another powerful blast of mana was hurdled at Gwen.
"Wall!" Gwen shouted as a wall made of her own mana sprang up in front of her. The mana blast completely shattered her wall on impact, though Gwen was alright.
"Malgante!" She shouted again, to which Gwen summoned up another wall. It too shattered on impact. Gwen was starting to feel drained from using so many spells so quickly.
"You're weakening," the girl said, picking up on Gwen's weakness. "Your mana is strong but unrefined. You're no match for me!"
"That may be," Gwen said. "But I'm strong enough to stop you!"
"We shall see about that!" The girl's runes on her jacket lit up, as her eyes glowed the same deep purple that she wore on her leggings. Her hair began to flutter as she floated in the air. "Ventus!" She shouted, stretching her arms out towards Gwen.
A massive gust of wind blew at Gwen, completely making her loose focus as she struggled not to fly up onto the far wall. However, as she lost concentration, so too did she loose her connection to her mana, and she started to slip.
"Anchor!" She shouted, trying to keep herself on her own feet. But her mana would not respond. The girl's mana was just too strong. She was just about to fly back into the wall when a branch flew in through the window and slapped the girl right in the face, forcing her to lose her concentration.
"You stupid-" she started to scream.
"Fire!" Gwen shouted and blasted the girl with a fireball. She flew back against the doors leading to the hallway. The branch rushed forward and wrapped itself around her, especially around the mouth. Within a moment, the girl stopped struggling, and the branches pulled away. The girl was still breathing, but she was obviously knocked out.
"Where did those branches come from?" Gwen asked herself as soon as her heartbeat subsided to something close to normal.
"They come from Lumie," the small creature walked through the broken window. Or the section of wall where the window had been. As he came in, the branches retracted back out of the wall, back to whatever tree they were a part of originally.
"Why did you help me?" Gwen asked. "And what are you anyway?"
"Lumie is a wood elf," Lumie introduced himself. "You saved Lumie from the masters, who torture and hurt Lumie, so Lumie decided to help. Lumie is still in your debt for saving him."
"But why were you in the cage to begin with? And if you were so strong, how come you couldn't just break out?" Gwen asked the creature.
"Lumie is a wood elf, and metal hurts Lumie and his power. Lumie was weak in the cage. Lumie was going to die because Lumie is a bad servant. But you saved Lumie's life, and Lumie is indebted to you until Lumie dies or saves your life." The small creature bowed down to Gwen. "What is Lumie's new master's name?"
"It's Gwen," Gwen said. "And you don't have to serve me, you're free. Now let's escape!" She exited the destroyed library and onto the yard. The small creature followed her.
"It is in Lumie's culture to repay a life-debt," Lumie explained. "To serve until the life-debt is fulfilled. If Lumie doesn't, he can never return to his people. Lumie must serve Master Gwen."
"Alright, if you're sticking around, then it's just Gwen, except when I'm in my Lucky Girl costume. Then it's Lucky Girl. And we are going to be equals, ok? No servants."
"If that is master's wishes, Lumie will comply." Gwen was about to protest when the small creature jumped up onto Gwen's shoulder. "Lumie already likes Gwen. She is kind to Lumie. So where is Gwen going?"
"I'm headed out of the swamp. I've got a friend waiting for me." She pulled out her magical map to try to figure out which way she was heading. "Looks like it's that way."
"Is Gwen exhausted?" Lumie asked. "That was a hard fight with the Charmcaster."
"Yeah, I'm pretty tired. I don't think that I can fly us out of here," Gwen admitted. "I don't suppose you could help us?"
"Lumie is a wood elf! Of course Lumie can help!" With a few muttered words, Lumie waived his hands around. A small sapling pulled itself out of the swamp and came over to Gwen. "Lumie has provided Gwen with transportation!"
"Cool!" Gwen climbed up the tree and sat in one of the branches. The tree started moving very rapidly towards the edge of the swamp, back towards Maddi. "So you called that girl Charmcaster?"
"Yes, Lumie did," Lumie responded. "She is no longer Lumie's master, and neither is her uncle."
"Who is her uncle?" Gwen asked.
"Lumie doesn't like to say his name," Lumie apologized. "He is feared among all of the elves. But for Gwen's sake, Lumie will say his name. He is Hex, Sorcerer Supreme."
"Hex?" Gwen asked surprised. "I know him! I fought him before."
"This surprises Lumie! Hex is more powerful than Charmcaster." The wood elf smiled to himself. "Lucky Girl is a good name. It suits Gwen." It was only a few minutes before Gwen came up to where Maddi was camping out. It would be an understatement to say that she was freaked out to see a tree practically running at her. But in short order, she saw Gwen and put one and one together. It was Gwen's magic.
"So, when did you learn that trick?" Maddi asked.
"Oh it's not me! This is Lumie's magic!" Gwen pointed to Lumie on her shoulder.
"Ok, I give up. What is Lumie? Is it one of the charms?" Maddi asked as Gwen climbed down from the tree. The tree turned and wandered back into the swamp.
"No, Lumie is an elf. Don't you see him on my shoulder?" Gwen asked somewhat confused.
"Lumie can only be seen or heard by other magical beings," Lumie whispered. "The girl cannot see me because she isn't magical."
"See what?" Maddi asked. "Maybe we should call Leroy… I think the swamp gasses are getting to us."
"Alright, let's call him." Gwen shrugged. "You're probably right." She took out her cell phone and called the taxi driver.
PLUMMERs Containment Facility, Mt. Rushmore, North Dakota
"How are the security systems?" Agent S17 asked his coworker.
"Everything is up to code," Agent S32 replied. "Most of the new arrivals figure out that there is no getting out within a reasonable amount of time."
"And what about inmate 67-282? That new bounty hunter?"
"You mean Six-Six?" The agent asked. "He seems to have figured it out faster that the lot of them. Within an hour or two he seems to have figured out how things run around here."
"Huh, I'd figured he'd put up more of a fight. Being a bounty hunter and all. Those guys usually put up one hard fight."
"He's probably trying to play nice. As soon as we contact his planet, we're shipping him off from here. He's probably hoping that we put in a good word for him. As if!" The two security agents laughed.
"Well let me know if there's anything unusual that happens," Agent S17 said. "I'm going to finish my checks, then I'm on break for a bit." He wandered off to see to his duties. Meanwhile, Agent S32 continued monitoring his computer screen. His was a boring job, but it really did pay well, which is why he got it. Now he was just putting his time in to graduate from being a security agent to the real thing. The "Big League."
He reached over and took a swig from his water bottle. Suddenly, something caught his attention from the corner of his eye. He set down his water bottle and checked the screen more closely. Nothing seemed to be wrong.
"Huh, maybe it was just a glitch," the agent rationalized. He ran the replay over just to make sure. That is when he saw it. For just a second, there was something that showed up on the radar screen. Something big and moving fast. Then, just as quickly as it appeared, it disappeared. "I'd better report it anyhow." He reached over to the intercom button and spoke into the receiver.
"Agent S17, this is security requesting oversight. Over," He spoke into the radio.
"Agent S17 is on his way. Over," A moment later the agent was again at the console. "What's the situation, Darren?" The agent asked.
"Just a moment ago there was a blip on the radar," Darren explained. He ran the replay for his supervisor. "It's pretty big and headed this way. But then it disappeared."
"Could it be a plane?" The agent asked.
"No. A plane would show up, but it wouldn't disappear," Darren explained.
"Hmm, we'd better call it in. What's that thing's ETA?"
"If it continues at its velocity," Darren said. "It would flyover the mountain in a little over two minutes." His supervisor picked up the intercom microphone.
"Security, this is Agent S17. We have a possible bogey headed this way. Please be advised. ETA is 1 minute. Stand ready for deployment." At the announcement, there were a flurry of action as men grabbed their gear and ran to their positions. They waited in silence for their next order.
"Has the object been picked up by any of the other scanners?" Agent S17 asked.
"No," Darren responded. "It could be a glitch."
"The PLUMMERs always take precautions first," Agent S17 said. "Open a video channel to the outside. Let's get eyes on whatever this thing could be." Darren nodded his head and punched a few commands into the console. The video feed flashed on, just in time to see a giant red and brown drone land on the top of the mountain. Simultaneously there was a giant boom that echoed from the ceiling of the base. It sent bits of dust and rock fragments raining down.
"Code Red! All available agents to their stations! We are being sieged!" Agent S17 shouted into the intercom. There were a flurry of movement as turrets were booted up and weapons prepped. Several more gigantic booms were heard as more drones landed on the mountain. Large cracks formed in the ceiling. The sounds of giant drills were heard as the drones began digging their way into the base.
A large chunk of stone broke away and fell, agents scattering to avoid being crushed by the rock. Several other breeches were made in other areas as there drones drilled through the stone. The sound of the turrets and cannons could be heard firing on the drones from the outside, seemingly to little success. Then the first drone dropped from the ceiling.
"Open fire!" An agent shouted, and a stream of laser fire was shot at the drone. Most of the laser fire bounced off, being reflected by the drone's armor.
"It's ray-shielded!" Another agent shouted. "Use concussion shots!" A second drone dropped from the ceiling. They began firing their own lasers at the agents, causing damage to the facility. Several more drones began dropping from the ceiling.
"Darren! Seal the breeches!" Agent S17 demanded.
"Sealing the room," the agent replied. Massive particle-shielded doors slid closed, trying to trap the drones in the administrative area. The drones began attempting to drill through the doors.
"All agents, fall back to the prison! We will set up a stronger defense there!" Agent S17 called on the intercom. On a separate channel he contacted headquarters.
"Headquarters! This is Agent S17 at the prison complex!" He was interrupted momentarily by a loud boom as the drones decided to take a whack at the doors. "We are under siege by heavily-armed drones! We are falling back to the prison for a defense! We need additional reinforcements immediately!" With that he shut off the command center.
"Come on!" He shouted to Agent S32. "Grab a gun and get to the prison!"
Darren did as he was told, his training kicking in. He opened his armory and donned a personal shield protector and the highest-calibre gun he had. Then he ran like hell towards the prison complex. All around him debris rained down as the drones were forcing their way through the doors. The particle shields were not going to hold up for long. Already the other agents were setting up a defense turret grid in the prison complex. Several mobile turrets and tanks were already set up and trained on the door. More were rapidly being deployed.
Finally the last agents ran through the door, and they were closed, another particle shield going online over the doors. Just in time too, as it sounded like the drones broke through the first set of doors.
"We haven't even been able to take down one of those!" One agent lamented. "How are we going to take down them all before they release the prisoners?"
"Silence Agent!" Agent 99 said. Agent 99 was the supervisor over the facility, and at her command, all dissent was silenced. "We have contacted HQ, and they will send us air support. Our job is to slow down the drones until they get here! We do that, or we die!" There was a cheer let out among the agents, as the drones slammed into the final set of doors.
The drones slammed again into the door, and the particle shield crackled. for a moment. A third slam, and then a fourth one. Every agent was silently waiting with dread in their chests for the drones to break through. Another slam, and the particle shield wavered for a moment. Another slam, and another. Finally, the particle shield fizzled out as the generator exploded.
"Here they come!" Agent 99 shouted, as a small hole was drilled through a section of the door. "Precision cannons, fire!" Several beams of energy shot ion blasts at the drone. Its ray started to deteriorate. As it went down, a stream of laser fire shot out at it. Slowly, it started to blast away at the drone's armor. The drone continued to rip at the door, slowly making the breech larger.
"Pour into it, boys! Give it everything you've got!" Another shout as more laser fire, concussion shot and ion blasts were shot at the drone. In a flash of light, the drone's circuitry was reached, and an explosion sent the drone stumbling backwards. A cheer was briefly let out, as the second drone threw aside the first drone, and took its place.
"We took down the first, we can take down the rest!" Agent 99 shouted. Another cheer was heard as ion blasts fired into the second drone's shielding.
From a cloaked ship above the Earth's atmosphere
"What is the progress?" Vilgax demanded.
"The siege drones have successfully breeched the western edge of the base. One siege drone has been destroyed, and the second is taking heavy damage. At this rate, all drones will be offline in fifteen minutes. However the door will be breeched in two minutes."
"And their puny call for aid?"
"They are still eight minutes out," the android reported to his master.
"What of the carrier?"
As per your design, it will have breeched the eastern edge of the prison complex in approximately three minutes. With their attention focused on the siege drones, it will be quick work to break the bounty hunter Six-Six out of confinement. We then have to five minutes to clear the atmosphere before their firepower arrives." The android finished his report.
"Excellent," Vilgax said. "The PLUMMERs don't suspect the true attack at all…"
PLUMMERs Containment Facility, Mt. Rushmore, North Dakota
"That's right! Take it down!" Agent 99 shouted as the second drone exploded. The breech in the door was large now, but by her count, there were only three drones left. They began firing again at the third drone to begin tearing away at the door. It wouldn't be too long before all three could make heir way through.
All of a sudden, from behind them, the back wall exploded. Bits of stone and rubble flew at the unaware mass of agents and equipment. Agent 99 spun around to see what was happening behind them. A small carrier ship flew through the breech, being followed by dozens of androids. They began firing their lasers at the agents, many of whom fell wounded or dead even before they realized that they were being fired upon.
"Shit! We're being flanked!" Agent 99 shouted. "The drones are a distraction!" Several dozen agents spun around and began firing at the androids, trying to stop themselves from being overwhelmed. The carrier flew through the prison confines until it came onto one specific cell. It landed, and two androids jumped out. They immediately started hacking into the cell's security system, trying to override it.
A moment later, they got through the security terminal, releasing Six-Six. He shoved them aside as he boarded the transport. The two androids boarded with him as the ship lifted off and flew to the exit. In a moment, it flew out of the breech and into the night sky. Sensing that their directive was accomplished, all the remaining androids and siege drones retreated, also taking off into the night.
As they were taking off, the PLUMMERs air support arrived, laying down fire on them. Their star fighters blew up two of the drones, while shooting down dozens of the androids. However, one of the siege drones was just too far away, and quickly outpaced the star fighters. Finally, the air support landed in the destroyed base to provide aid and support to the facility.
"Thank the stars you arrived!" Agent 99 exclaimed when she found the commander that had led he reinforcements. "We tried to hold them back as long as we could, but the androids caught us completely off guard. I'm sorry, but they got whatever they came for."
"You did everything you could," Agent 10 responded. "This was an obviously well-planned surprise attack. There wasn't much more than anyone could have done. What we need to do now is find out what they came for, and why. And get this facility even more secure than it ever has been. Now that this facility's knowledge isn't secret, we have to find out who attacked us, and how they got their information."
"Yes sir!" Agent 99 saluted and turned away to attend to her new orders.
A/N:
And that is where I am ending it today. What were your thoughts about the chapter? How was the PLUMMERs base siege? Or Gwen's fight with Charmcaster? Vilgax acted slightly out of character with how quickly he swooped in to break Six-Six out of prison. Any ideas or critiques, please leave in a review! Also, any reviews that you don't want posted in the story for whatever reason, let me know and I'll leave it out. Please drop a favorite and a follow, and I'll see you next time!
Thanks for reading, and have an awesome day!

UchihaNaruto247: I'm going to take a wild guess here and say that's our first intro to Charmcaster in this story, Gwen's rival, and from the way things are starting, I already feel like Charmcaster is going to hate Gwen even more than usual in this story, cause she's literally trespassing into her property or base. This time it's not who gets the last stones like it's some kind of race, Gwen came to snatch it out of her home. Can't wait to see Vilgax's reaction to when he sees the most power object in the universe is on the hands of a child. Lol! Glad you found my Gordon Ramsey joke funny, anyone who has the name Gordon, I always think of the chef for some reason, so I always call the person Gordon Ramsey.
Haha, that is hilarious about Gordon Ramsey! As for Charmcaster, yeah, she is really going to hate Gwen. But if you read their encounter carefully, I've included a few hints into her motivation. Should that motivation change, her purpose in life could also change. It also might hint a little bit as to what kind of person Hex is, even to his own family. And I've got several future conflicts planned for Vilgax and Ben, so he isn't gong to be a "one-hit-wonder." We've only been building up to their first encounter. (Which is going to be soon!)
