Moving Forward ch22

Harry stood beside Winky and Dobry as the curtain around the statue that marked the main entrance to Bathesda Gardens was pulled away. Before them stood the twenty foot tall visage of Dobby a single finger raised and the most determined look on his face. The statue had been carved using his memory of Dobby shouting "You will not harm Harry Potter!" And flinging Lucius Malfoy down the hall.

He placed his hand on Dobry's shoulder as he read the dedication plaque.

'During the second blood war, Dobby a free elf saved the lives of two witches, four wizards and a goblin at the cost of his own life. Let his life remind us that no matter how humble our beginnings with ambition, intelligence, dedication, courage and love, our dreams can come true.'

"Your father was a good man Dobry." Harry said before wiping his tears.

Auror Susan Bones walked the red light district of Bathesda Gardens. When she was first assigned to the Gardens she had been mortally offended that such a place would be allowed to open. It had only taken a few days of talking to people to change her mind.

Every reputable prostitute from Knockturn alley was begging for the chance to work in the Gardens. Here their health and safety were paramount. Here they had protections that ensured that the majority of the money they made stayed in their pockets.

Susan soon figured out that any brothel left in Knockturn alley had to be up to something illegal because why else would they be there?

The vampire bar was also a surprise. She knew from her Auror training that vampire venom gave those bitten a pleasant body buzz similar to the muggle drug ecstasy, without the danger of your spinal fluid drying up. And many people sought out vampires to drink from them to get high. Here was a place you could go ride the fang in safety. Who would have thought of that?

The sex toy store proved to her that people were strange. She had seen a dildo nearly as big around as a quaffle and longer than her arm. Who is that for? Are there people who like the feeling of giving birth?

Working the Gardens was quite nice, a lot of walking but it was all inside and warm. There were a few shoplifters, but the wards stopped any magical violence before it began. She had occasionally had to break up a fist fight but being keyed into the wards, she could just stun them. Most of the job was reuniting lost children with their parents, which felt rather rewarding. When the Bathesda Dragons played it was all hands on deck for crowd control though. How that team attracted so many foreign wizards to the games, she didn't know but every business in the Gardens benefitted from it.

Petra Sinclair looked around the locker room of her new team. This was obviously designed by a quidditch player. Each locker had a push button obscuring charm. No more would she have to put up with male teammates oggling her while she changed.

Individual shower stalls, soaker tubs, a team meeting room with comfortable seating to discuss strategy. Work out room with magical and muggle exercise equipment. A kitchen full of snacks and water. An Infirmary. Individual bedrooms with ensuite bathroom, for those days you just can't make it home after a hard game or the rare twenty four hour game. This place had everything.

The team provided a nutritionist, personal trainers and medical services to ensure you were fit to play. Part of the contract included visiting hospitals, coaching kids, exhibition games and many other fan building exercises. It also made the team a real part of the community.

Penny Clearwater was over the moon with happiness. She a muggleborn witch was now the Chief Operations Officer of Potter Enterprises. Take that purebloods!

Harry was still the boss but she was the number two in magical Britain's first ever corporation. Under the corporate umbrella was Potter property management, Potter amusement, Ogden's distillery, Elf services limited and the Potter investment group. Each had their own president and they all reported to her.

Potter Enterprises was an equal opportunity employer. Witch, wizard, werewolf, muggle, goblin, unicorn didn't matter so long as you could to the job. Penny was so pleased about that.

The Bathesda Dragons formerly known as the Chudley Cannons had been completely overhauled. The previous owners started the team as a pet project so their children could be professional quidditch players. For nearly two hundred years all you needed to get on the team was to know the right people. Needless to say not a single Cannons player or employee had made the transition to the Dragons.

No one was drafted for the team. Many professional players had been invited to the training camp that was open to anyone. The invitation had included a possible salary and information about the benefits the team offered.

No other team offered a percentage of merchandise sales. That had drawn many to the training camp. In the end the team consisted of:

Oliver Wood - Formerly starting keeper for Puddlmere United.

Petra Sinclair - Star chaser Canadian national team.

Angelina Weasley - Second string chaser for the Balycastle Bats

Kate Woodruff - Chaser Second string chaser for The Norwegian National Team

Elgin Summerby - Rookie beater from Scotland

Eugenia Canastansa - Beater Cuban national team

Harry Potter - Seeker Welsh national team.

The team also had a full reserve roster and a practice team.

Harry had to earn his spot at training camp.
