-Jager POV-
"Well, Ela, your gunshot wound is completely healed, as is everything that comes with it." Gus spoke as he finished observing Ela's back. Ela beathed a sigh of relief.
"That mean I can get out of here?" she asked. I chuckled at her comment, as did Gus, who nodded.
"Yes, you can. As of now, you are officially discharged from medical. However, if anything is bothering you or you feel unwell, come back and see me right away." Ela nodded, thanking Gus as he took his leave.
"Finally" she cheered, hopping up from the medical bed. I laughed, draping my arm around her shoulders.
"How do you feel?" I asked. Ela gave me a confused look as we exited the medical wing.
"Fine. Why do you ask?" she confirmed.
"Just making sure. I get worried kinda easily" I admitted. Ela chuckled, giving me a hug as we made our way to the mess hall.
"I like that about you, not gonna lie" she spoke as we rounded a corner.
"You do?" I asked, skeptically. She nodded, pulling us to a halt, and turning me to face her.
"I do. I enjoy having someone who...who cares" Ela trailed off a bit at the end, and I could tell she was fighting back tears. I immediately embraced her in a tight bear hug as she started tearing up. I cooed her as best I could as she cried lightly. When she sounded like her tears had dried up, I gently pushed her away so that I can look her in the eye.
"Ela, what's wrong? What's making you so upset?" I asked her. She seemed not to want to answer, as she just simply shrugged and looked away. I sighed, leading her to the lounge, where we dropped onto the couch. I took her hands in mine, and looked her in the eye. "Babe, you can tell me if something is bothering you." I told her.
"I know, it's just…" she trailed off, letting out a shaky breath.
"Just what?" I prompted, trying not to sound pushy.
"I just like having someone who cares" she repeated. I cocked my head a bit in response.
"Was there someone who didn't care?" I asked, skeptically. Slowly, she nodded. "Who?" I asked, hoping that no one tried to harm her. She mumbles someone's name, too quiet for me to hear. "Babe, speak up?" I asked her. She took a breath before repeating.
"Oliver" she spoke. My eyes went wide as I tried to process what she said.
"Our Oliver? Callsign 'Lion'?" I asked, just to be sure. She nodded slowly again.
"He asked me out a few months ago. I agreed, stupidly. I've never been in a relationship before, and I was wanting to get one started." she sniffled. "He turned out to be the worst boyfriend ever. He preferred hanging out with the guys over me, he never payed me attention, and he would constantly loose it at me." I must admit, I was shocked. I knew Oliver for a while. Never in a million years had I thought this was his true nature. I guess some people just reveal themselves over time.
"He didn't, like, try anything, did he?" I asked, pulling her closer to me. She said nothing, but started crying into my shoulder. I got very heated at that, plotting ways to murder Oliver for even trying to harm Ela. After a minute, Ela sniffled.
"It was my fault" she mumbled, pulling away slightly. I shook my head.
"No, Ela, it wasn't your fault. He tried things with you, that's on him and-"
"He was drunk, Marius!" Ela cried. I cocked my head at her, giving her a questionative look.
"That kinda makes sense" I nod. She sniffled again.
"He was so scary when he was sober, that I didn't want to get him pissed when he's drunk. So I just let him do what he wanted." she spoke very softly, leaning more into me.
"Ela…" I sighed, wrapping my arm around her shoulders. "You gotta protect yourself when something like that happens-"
"I know!" Ela cried out, pulling away, bringing her legs up onto the couch, wrapping her arms around her knees. "I didn't know what else to do! That never happened before, and I thought if I just let it happen, it would be a one time thing" she spoke into her knees.
"It wasn't?" I asked, wrapping my arms around her. Leaning into me, she shook her head.
"Everytime he got drunk, sex was a guarentee. Even if I didn't want it, he would convince me otherwise." I let out a sigh, and just sat there holding her. I seriously wanted to do something, probably give Oliver a piece of my mind. Something, however, hung in my mind.
"Did he remember what he did to you when he sobered up?" I asked her, rubbing her back. Slowly, she shook her head.
"Initially, no. He was hard drunk. However, me being a damn idiot, I mentioned to him what happened. After that, we became regulars at the bar" she chocked up, letting a few tears roll. I decided right then and there that I would get back at Oliver...somehow. For right now, I just sat with Ela, comforting her and making sure she was okay.
