Bible Teachings:
What is the Christian Life?
Welcome brothers and sisters to another Bible Teachings. Today I want to answer a question some are wondering or want to clarify what is means to be a Christian. Now before we begin let's take this moment and actually split the words apart. By doing this we have two separate words that says Christ-ian, now this wouldn't make sense but take a moment and look how Christian without the i-a-n is by itself. Now your asking yourself what does that mean or why is that so important. The simple answer is because Jesus Christ is the name of our Lord and Savior, that being called Christians is borrowing the word Christ is place in our lives. And if your familiar with Jesus story or have at least heard of him then you know how he lived.
For his life is without sin and lived perfectly by following our Heavenly Father commandment. Jesus showed how we can live like Christ and how we should live in our days, but make no mistake we are not perfect. We are perfectly created, but we are now living in a sinful world that is dying by the day. How to live as Christian is to live Christ-like, mainly how to live like Jesus. In Matthew, Mark, Luke and John we are told stories of how Jesus made many miracles, preach the gospel, and went where he's suppose to go. We also know that when his time came Jesus knew that he would die on the cross for all our sins.
From all of this and many more we can say how Jesus is describe as serving people, self-sacrifice his time for others, and to endure hardships that would have us mock, scorn or other ways this world will try on our lives. Many times we tend to forget when we commit ourselves to Jesus as Christian it's not just about committing to religion or some other belief, it's about having fellowship with God and people. Able to everyday serve God with our worst and best of times, sacrifice our free time and times we spend on our own achievements we should focus our attention towards God. Most times we try and do our own ways when they are a vain as our lives when we die. This is because when we live by Jesus we are not only glorifying and pleasing our Lord, we are also filled with Joy, peace and fulfilled life by his presence.
As Christians we are to serve everyone around us as Jesus had in his time. In Matthew 9 verse 37-38, here Jesus talks about the harvest, yet there are fewer laborers. Mainly in God's eye he talks about us and how there is many people are lost and he held compassion for them. More times we walk around the streets and we try not to greet random people, while that is fine and good. But if God told you to talk with someone just as you walk the 3rd block and this stranger who is old and homeless, would you talk to him about Jesus and the good news God has on our lives?
When we surrender and submit ourselves to God, our ways become his ways, our goals become Gods, our ambitions are change to Gods. We give our total surrender of our beings, our life, our things in the house, even our families as parents. God isn't demanding you to surrender, he commands you. Cause once you name yourselves as Christian, God must take first place and we as second. I know this sound hard and it is, but you can't quit if you fully committed to serving Christ Jesus. Yes you will make mistakes and yes you will feel you are two steps back, but then you are pulled forward and you keep moving from there.
Folks sometimes we tend to forget or make mistake that happens on our daily life, and sometimes we tend to be distracted by somethings. One of those current weakness I can say is watching or listening to many music or youtube videos. Most of them I shouldn't even watch or entertain and things I shouldn't even see. I'm not saying I am perfect nor am I saying we should just live how we like. But being a Christian is always work in progress, yet at certain point when we reach certain point we should say with boldness about the good news and preach to others through ministry. Most times we tend to forget this and we just live the life we have made or given. Lord Jesus commands us to follow him in every step and how the Holy Spirit to guide us.
Nothing is ever easy, nor will it be given because we have our rights or privilege. In fact many of us since living in sin are pre-destine for hell, and that is something you can't ignore. Yet God made a way for us to be saved, and we are given this in arms reach from Jesus himself knocking on our doors. This gift is freely given not because we earned it, but because he wanted us to have it. Yet even after receiving this gift we are still work in progress known as sanctification, we need to diligently work as much as we can. Even in times where things are bad or worse, that's when we need to give all we have towards God.
