FIRST BLOOD

YOHN ROYCE

He is known as Bronze Yohn and is the Lord of Runestone. House Royce is the most powerful banner serving House Arryn. Yohn Royce is a military man and is always ready for war. When the Raven arrives his ten thousand troops move out towards Gulltown to sail the army to the Capital or land at Duskendale.

Because Runestone sits close to Gulltown Yohn Royce arrives first. Within three weeks the armies of the Vale are assembled. The food and supplies are loaded onto the ships first. "DRAGONS!" A man screams ringing the bell in the harbor tower. Two Dragons descend on the town and roar causing chaos. People run and scream as the Dragons swoop down in a threatening manner.

The Rider on the large Black Dragon fires an arrow into the courtyard of Grafton's Tower. Only when the two Dragons fly away do people come out. The Lords of the Vale meet in the main hall to read the message and discuss their next move…

To the Lords of the Vale

You will disband your armies and return to your homes…If you take the field against me…I Aegon Targaryen son of Prince Rhaegar and Princess Lyanna Targaryen will rain fire upon you…

With Regards

Your King

Gerold Grafton had read the note out loud. The main hall breaks out into an uproar. Some one to fight, others wish to disband. "Men of the Vale!" Yohn Royce yells standing up, "Steel yourselves! If we wish to survive…If we wish to protect our loved ones, we must see to ourselves…I will not tell you what to do. Each Lord must decide that for himself. I will not fight…"

AEGON

He stands beside Rhodan on a mountain, his eyes are white as he forces the Raven sent from Gulltown to the Red Keep. Aegon rewrites the message and sends the Raven on its way. Then he mounts his Dragon and flies southwest to his army waiting at Harrenhal.

ROBERT

To King Robert Baratheon

The Nights of the Vale are with you my King…We will land our forces at Duskendale…Long live King Robert…

With Regards

The Lords of the Vale

"See Jon…We may win this after all."

"And what of Ned? Are you really going to have your…"

"He betrayed me Jon! Curse him to the seven hells!"

Robert rides out of King's Landing with eighteen thousand men. Many of them are conscripts that had been training under Lord Jamon Gaunt. The rest are soldiers from houses in the Crownlands still loyal to Robert. From King's Landing they ride to Duskendale which is ruled by House Rykker. They reinforce the port town and press more men into service. Men as young as fourteen.

"Duskendale is yours my King." Lord Rykker says.

"The Knights of the Vale are coming…We will have thirty thousand reinforcements soon." To sail from Gulltown to Duskendale takes seven days. On the morning of the seventh day it is not the fleet of House Arryn they see, it is the fleet of the Step Stones and Dorne that come. "Where the fuck is the fleet of House Arryn?"

"Your Grace!"

"What now?"

It is Jonathan Rykker that calls to him, "My King they are here…The Starks, the Tullys, and Lannisters."

Robert rides to the Northern gate and gapes at the massive army. "I would say…Twenty thousand Northmen, Sixteen thousand men of the Riverlands and fifty thousand men of the Westerlands." Lord Gaunt says.

"Why would Jaime Lannister turn on his own sister?" Lord Rykker asks.

"Your Grace we should parlay."

Robert would rather die. His pride will not allow him to go down without a fight. "All we need do is cut the head of the snake." A few hours later Robert rides out to meet with Aegon Targaryen. He rides out with Ser Barristan, Ser Oakheart, Lords Gaunt, and Rykker. They are greeted by A man dressed in black Dragon armor with a red sash and red cloak. A white Dire Wolf walks beside his horse. Also with him are Eddard Stark, Brynden the Blackfish, and Jaime Lannister. Robert stares hatefully at his former friend.

"So Usurper we meet face to face. I thought you'd be fatter."

"Nephew." Ned says.

"I will deal with you boy the same way I did your father!" He says pointing his war hammer at Aegon.

"I think not!"

"And you!" He says looking at Ned and spits, "That I ever called you brother!"

"I still consider you to be my friend and in the name of that friendship I ask you to stand down…"

"You are dead to me Eddard Stark!" Now he looks at Jaime Lannister, "Your father would be proud of you Lord Jaime."

"I failed Rhaegar when I allowed my father's men to run a muck in the Red Keep…Princess Elia and her children were no threat to you…And yet you reveled in their deaths…You have always been unworthy of the Iron Throne…And even more unworthy of my sister!"

"You cannot win Usurper…The Knights of the Vale are not coming I have seen to that…For I intercepted their message and told you to meet them here…You are trapped…By now you'd be dead, but for my Uncle's plea of mercy and the fact that we share blood."

"You are no kin of mine Dragonspawn."

"You forget your heritage! Orys Baratheon was half-brother to Aegon the First…Your Grandfather married a Targaryen."

"I forget nothing! Live or die…Know this…You will fall like your father by my Hammer!"

"As you wish. Fire and Blood Usurper."

"Ours is the Fury! Dragonspawn!"

Aegon looks at Ser Barristan, "Ser Barristan."

He urges his horse over to Aegon, "You treacherous fuck! I spared your life and this is how you repay me?"

"You are an unworthy King Robert…Had I known Rhaegar's heir was alive all this time I would have left you long ago."

AEGON

Aegon rides back to his army while Robert rides back to the gates of Duskendale. "Let them charge out of the city…This will not be a long battle…"

"My King!" Eddard says, "You have the men…You don't have to use the Dragon."

He sighs, "I'm sorry Uncle, but I do." Aegon rides to a makeshift pen, where Rhodan is hidden. There are tall polls with cloths attached hiding the Dragon. When Aegon enters the Dragon raises its head. Aegon speaks to it in Valyrian, then he mounts the Dragon. A man nods to him and they take off. Rhodan roars and the charging army pauses at the sight of the Dragon. From the back of Rhodan Aegon looks at Robert and sneers, "Dracarys!"

Rhodan inhales and then releases a torrent of flames, that rip up the ground. Men and horses are turned to ash and as the flames approach Robert, his horses rears and he raises his middle finger. The army scatters in all different directions as Aegon pulls up on Rhodan. The Dragon loops around and pauses in the air our of arrow range. Aegon signals his army by raising his sword and his heavy Calvary charges the field with a shout.

EDDARD

Eddard walks the ruins of the massacre Some bodies are charged and you cannot tell flesh from armor. In some places there are piles of ash. Then Eddard comes upon a war hammer lying in the burnt grass. He sighs, "Robert you damn fool." He whispers. Robert's body sits atop his horse, both are ash, but look more like molten rock. Then it crumbles into a chunky pile of ash. Eddard bends down to pick up the war hammer with his gloved hand.

He finds a horse and rides to Duskendale. The Town had surrendered when they saw the Dragon. The few survivors scattered into the countryside. Some made it to the wall of the town, but were not let in. They threw down their arms when the Calvary road up to the gate. The men on the wall had abandoned their post.

Eddard is joined by Ser Brynden, "I don't think I ever want to see a Dragon used in warfare again."

Ned nods, "Aye neither do I." The Rykkers are stripped of their titles and lands. A new family is made lord of the Town. The woman are sent to the Silent Sisters or the Septons. The men are sent to the wall. A decree is posted up, that all men who fought for Robert should head to the wall or face the King's wrath.

KING'S LANDING

RENLY

One man managed to break away and ride to King's Landing to deliver the news. "What news?"

"I am sorry my Prince…The King is dead…He and his army was destroyed by Dragonfire."

"What?"

"Aegon Targaryen has a Dragon."

"What of the Knights of the Vale?"

"They never came."

Renly looks at Jon Arryn, "I did not betray Robert."

"I know…I just…What do we have left in regards to troops?"

He sighs, "2,000 men of the City Watch…A hundred Baratheon men…Two thousand Conscripts…My own household guards a hundred men…"

Renly shakes his head, "We will have to prepare to surrender." A week later a Dragon flies over the city and the armies of Aegon Targaryen march into the city peacefully.
