Chapter 10: "She is the Evil Queen!"
Enchanted Forest
Emma's eyes snapped wide open when she heard that familiar voice. Shit, they've been spotted. She moved her head away from Regina's and the mayor was looking at her with wide eyes, trying to communicate with her that they should just bolt out of here.
"Is something wrong, your majesty?"
"Perhaps…I heard something behind those trees," the Evil Queen told her guard as she maintained her regal posture.
The guard nodded and began to approach the area the queen was referring to, already with his sword out and aimed. "Come out now!" He shouted.
Regina raised her hand and Emma noticed that the brunette was ready to use her magic to get them out of this situation but if she did that, it would bring way too much attention to them and she is pretty sure the Evil Queen wouldn't take it so kindly to see another person using magic, especially one that looks exactly like her. – So, the savior quickly grabbed the mayor's hand and shook her head, "I got a plan…you just run as fast as you can and don't look back, okay?" She whispered and noticed that Regina was ready to talk back. "Please, just trust me this time…between you and I, you are the best chance we've got to save our kids, alright?" She gave her a soft smile, her lower lip trembling for just a second. – 'our kids' just saying that made things feel even harder, it was like Emma could have a completely different reality, one that she dreamt about but never got.
"Whoever is out there, come out and face me!" This time it was the Evil Queen shouting, already raising hand with a fireball ready to strike.
The savior blinked her eyes rapidly before take a deep breath and plant a gentle kiss on the brunette's forehead, it was a kiss that lasted like three seconds, once it was over, Emma looked at the direction she needed to go and whispered. "Okay, go now," after saying that she quickly stepped out from their hiding spot and raised her arms up in the midair, so she wouldn't get attacked right away.
"There you are!" The guard quickly grabbed Emma by the arm and tossed her to the ground, right in front of the Evil Queen.
"Watch it, punk!" She groaned a bit in pain due to the sudden faction, then her green eyes stared at the hem of the long royal dress, she slowly began to look up at the queen and suddenly forgot how to even breath. She was here…right in front of her eyes, she had her back.
"Who are you? And what are you doing hiding behind those trees?" The Evil Queen almost barked as she extinguished her flame.
But of course this woman had no memories of her and this was even more painful to witness due to the fact that this Regina is actually the one she had a relationship, memories, feelings, almost everything that she ever dreamed, she had it with this Regina, so seeing how dark brown eyes don't recognize her at all, hurt her even more than when Regina showed up at her doorstep with Daniel. "Regina…" she mumbled her name and rose her hand towards her.
Huge mistake because the guard was there in a flash and smashed the hilt of his sword against Emma's temple to stop her from touching his queen. "Keep your filthy hands away!"
Emma yelped in pain and fell on her side, hand to her temple. The hit wasn't that strong, but it was strong enough to split her skin because when she looked back down at her hand, there was blood. She also noticed that Regina still hadn't run away as she told her to and it was obvious the mayor wanted to fight back and didn't want to leave Emma behind, especially after what had just happened, but Emma couldn't let the mayor get involved in this, Daniel's safety was way more important than anything else.
"What are you staring at blondie?" The Evil Queen commented as she noticed that Emma was still staring at the trees, so she figured there was somebody else. "You brought company?" She said while approaching the trees.
"Wait!" Emma shouted, quickly getting on her fours. "I am the only one!"
The Evil Queen coldly looked over her shoulder "I doubt it," and then she kept going towards the trees.
And that was where Emma saw no other choice but to attack, so that's what she did. "Don't turn your back on the enemy, majesty," she taunted her and then quickly shot bolts of white light from her hands to the guard, easily knocking him out.
Obviously, this quickly got the brunette's attention, she just stared a bit at the guard, confused to what had just happened. "You have magic?" she asked slowly turning her body to the blonde's direction.
Emma internally cursed, knowing very well that now she'd be in deeper trouble with the queen, she had hoped that after sharing a few words, she'd be released and she could continue her search about her son, but now that the queen say she has magic, she knows that is going to interest her very much and probably get her all paranoid. "Sort of? Just a little bit, really," Emma tried to laugh it off, even showing a sheepish smile.
"Sort of? I think you have more than that, dear," she took steady and regal steps forward, closing the distance between them, "and your magic…so pure, so white," she almost spat out the last word.
Regina was still watching everything from behind that tree, so when Emma put her life in risk like that, she knew that the savior would never forgive her if she didn't keep her part of the deal, even though she didn't agree to it but she knew she had to do it. So, after a deep breath, she closed her eyes briefly before swiftly leaving the area and when it was safe to, she began to run as fast as she could. She had to go find their kids and then worry about getting Emma back.
"Oh well, you know, it's really just a hobby of mine," Emma chuckled nervously but the queen keep approaching her, even dared to grab Emma's chin, raising her head slightly while bending her own, they were almost eye to eye, but Regina kept above to show her power.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" The Evil Queen asked with a frown and stared deep into green eyes, that looked at her with such familiarity.
Emma gasped at the sudden touch and even though she was in a dangerous position, the reason why her heart rate was higher, wasn't because she was scared. "I am nobody, I was just passing by," she struggled a bit to say those words, her voice was shaky.
"What is your name?"
"Emma."
The Evil Queen kept staring at Emma's eyes for a few more seconds, completely silent and her guard was already gaining back his conscious, clearly confused about what happened.
"Your majesty," the guard quickly got up on his feet, ready to apologize for his incompetence.
"Chain her," she said while basically pushing Emma's chin away from her own grip, "she is coming with us."
"Yes, ma'am!" The guard hurried his way over and grabbed onto Emma's arms, that's when the blonde began to struggle, trying to make him let go of her.
"This really isn't necessary! I was just a wanderer, passing by!" She tried to explain but when the Evil Queen makes an order, you must take that order till the very end.
"I don't believe you," said the brunette, raising her hand and conjuring a ball of fire on her palm, "and if you try to resist, I will burn you and send a search squad for your companion and burn them next."
Emma stopped struggling when she heard those words, of course the other woman was stubborn and intelligent as well and equally paranoid, needless to say that the brunette has many enemies, so this attitude was obvious but something Emma was trying to avoid.
"Move along," the guard said while tightening his grip on the blonde woman, whom still struggled but obliged, nonetheless. Shit, Regina please find him. She thought to herself, feeling slightly defeated.
Neverland – A week later
"Hi, Dani! I bet you two fish that you can't hit that apple with your arrows," Eli teased the blonde boy.
"Of course, I can," Daniel said with a strong frown and a small pout, almost a mixture of expressions from both his parents.
"How can you?! You've only learnt how to use that thing a week ago," Eli teased him again and even stuck out his tongue at him. Eli has become one of Daniel's closest friends, both boys were the same age and both blonde but that was the only thing they had similar to each other, because Eli was the brave one and for a little kid he knew how to fight, while Daniel was still stuck to his arrows and still didn't had the stomach to skin a rabbit but now he didn't mind cleaning out fish, so that's good.
"But…" Daniel mumbled, feeling a bit self-conscious.
"He bets three fish that he can hit that apple and you have to give him your blueberries," this voice was completely different from between the boys, it was Fiona speaking.
"Fiona," Daniel almost chocked while saying her name, why was she raising the bet! He didn't want to give his blueberries to Eli if he lost.
"Oooh, really?" Eli said with a perked-up eyebrow. "Okay, that's a bet then!" He fist-bumped Daniel's chest.
The blonde boy winced a bit at the fist bump then stared up at Fiona's green eyes and he could see in her eyes that she believed in him, that she knew he could do it, so that filled him up with self confidence and he slowly rose his bow and arrow, taking his time to aim. Fiona watched the younger boy's movements and after a couple of seconds, she said, "now!" And Daniel obliged, his arrow went flying towards the apple tree, hitting right in the middle of one. The force of his arrow made the apple fall from the tree.
"Awe, shit!" Eli whined.
Daniel's face slowly broke into a big smile as he took in his achievements. "I did it!" He jumped in joy.
Fiona almost shoved her palm against Daniel's blonde hair, ruffling it. "'Course you did, you are a natural at this, kiddo." Daniel kept his big grin and looked up at the teenage brunette, not even caring she was messing up his hair that was now almost covering his eyes. Eli was behind them, with a big pout and taking out his blueberries from his pocket, counting them.
"Awe, Fiona is actually being nice," this was another person speaking, Peter Pan. "Such a weird sight, to see, isn't it? I haven't seen you touch other boys other than punch them."
"That sounded weird, please don't say that again," Fiona said with a frown as she crossed her arms over her chest and discreetly taking a step away from Daniel, a move that went unnoticed by Eli and Peter but not by Daniel, who found it very weird.
"Pan!" Eli shouted out as he rushed towards the older boy. "Did you get anything from the village?" Usually Pan would go to the village and get them other types of food they couldn't get from the island.
"Hey, kid, sure did!" Peter told him with a grin and then pointed his thumb to the boat behind him. "Go check it yourself."
"Awe, yes!" Eli jumped and then grabbed Daniel's hand, basically dragging the blonde boy with him so they could go check the boat, leaving Peter and Fiona behind.
"So, I was wondering," Peter started.
"Don't care, won't say," Fiona quickly dismissed it.
Peter perked up an eyebrow at her, "why so defensive? I just wanted to know why you like the new boy so much," he found it very weird that Fiona clicked so well with Daniel because she'd usually be on her own and most of the other boys were scared of her.
"I don't and why do you care?" After saying that, she just began to walk away because she wasn't going to have this conversation with Peter Pan. You see, Fiona never trusted this boy and she never will and Peter was always a bit more defiant with Fiona as well because they were the older ones of the group and he already caught her trying to escape a few times, but he couldn't let that happen because of an old deal he had made with Rumple. For some reason he could never let Fiona out of this island, and he wasn't going to question that deal because he also benefits from it.
Eli and Daniel just keep searching around the boat and Eli was very happy that Pan brought them some bread while Daniel was just looking for other things than food, that's when he found a flyer. "Wanted…Evil Queen?" He mumbled those words and then gasped in surprise when he saw the portrait, that was his other mom!
"What do you got there, Dani?" Eli asked as he chewed on a piece of bread.
"It's my mom!" He exclaimed happy, completely oblivious of the situation. Eli got confused at that and walked up to Daniel, checking the flyer, he even yanked the flyer out of Daniel's hands. "That's not your mom, dummy, that's the Evil Queen," he said while giving the flyer back to the blonde the boy.
"No, that's my mom, I am pretty sure of it," Daniel insisted, "and don't call her Evil Queen."
"Don't be stupid, Dani. The Evil Queen is so evil, it's impossible for her to have kids, I bet her kids would even be scared of her and she'd burn them," Eli commented, still happily chewing on his bread, not realizing how much effect his words had on Daniel.
"Don't say that!" Daniel quickly got defensive, he couldn't believe his friends words, there was no way his mother was the person eh was describing. "She is my mom and I finally got a portrait of her; I can take this to the village with me and try to find her."
Eli frowned his eyebrows, thinking his friend had gone mad. "Are you serious?" Then he saw Daniel's determined gaze which made him laugh out loud, almost choking on his bread. "Can't you read? It says Wanted! The nearby villages are plotting something against her, she is evil Dani, she hurts innocent people, she even killed Fiona's dad!" Eli remembered that story, sense he noticed that he was very close the teenage girl.
"W-What?" That's not true…" Daniel stuttered a bit, there was no way his mother was this evil person they spoke of.
"Bet your ass it is, go ask Fiona, that's basically the only thing we know about her," Eli shrugged as he jumped out of the boat and before he could tell, Daniel was out of the boat as well, running past him.
There's no way, that's true, little Daniel thought to himself as he began to run in search of Fiona. She wouldn't lie to him; she'd tell him the truth and then he'd have someone by his side that believes in him and can help him find his mother.

While in the big, tall tower of the Evil Queen's castle, there was a Emma Swan, prisoner: frustrated, starving and now with some puffy dress because even if the Evil Queen treated her life a prisoner, she refused to let the blonde being a dirty and ugly prisoner. Their journey to find their son and daughter seemed to be so close yet so far and Emma could already hear familiar footsteps coming towards the door of her cell.
