Chapter 12

For Whom The Bell Tolls

As night fell on the city, storm clouds had begun to form over the city with it looking all too likely that a heavy downpour of rain was about to engulf the city. For one certain character out of all the millions of people who lived in New York, the stormy weather and sound of growing thunder seemed so fitting for how he was feeling about the situation he was in. Peter Parker.

Sitting up on the roof of the bell tower on a church, Peter sat with his knees up, his hands draped over them and his head hung low, he reflected not only the past few hours but ever since he had first came into contact with the Symbiote and wondering if all this time if it had been worth it. At first when he felt the power from the Symbiote and how good it made him feel by making him stronger and he did admit that black seem to go well with him, at least what Felicia seemed to think.

A shuddered sigh was emitted from Peter as thoughts came for his wife. His emotions were being twisted and turned by the Symbiote and his mind was all over the place which made left distressed yet confused as to why Felicia didn't lash out on him when he confessed to her that he had been responsible what the horrible actions he'd done when instead she blamed the Symbiote for all of this.

"What am I doing?" Peter uttered to himself as the sound of thunder seemingly responded to his question. He slowly raised his head up to stare at his Symbiote cladded hands before looking at the rest of his body that was covered in this quite literally alien material. Ironically, he did feel like an alien in a city that he knew almost every detail about and wonder if he was just an inch away from becoming an actual alien. Was that possible? He did not know though given everything that had happened Peter supposed anything was possible.

Do I sense you wish to break our bond after what I have given you?

Behind his mask, Peter's face was filled with anger. "What you've given me?! You've only given me the power to cause someone's death!"

But his worthless life was indeed justified for his own demise you will agree.

"At what expense?! Some power that I can't control over?!" Peter snapped, but the voice in his head chuckled at his response.

But I can feel your anger and that gives you your ultimate power. Why should you reject it?

Peter didn't reply yet for some reason he felt something in him that he hadn't felt in what felt likes ages…understanding. Understanding as in now his wife's words of Peter not truly to blame for this suddenly became clear; the Symbiote was to blame in all this and Peter had been used as nothing more than a pawn for this alien menace attached to him.

There was now only one choice for Peter, something he should've done the moment the Symbiote first bonded to him…get rid of it.

He grabbed a section of the Symbiote on his left arm and he began to pull on it but instead of ripping, it seemed to be sticking on like glue and even as Peter tried using all the strength that he had in him to the point where he could see the bare skin of his arm, the Symbiote was still trying to be stuck on like slime leaving black trails trying to stay on.

What are you doing Parker?!

"Staying goodbye to you!" Peter replied.

However suddenly he felt great pain grip him as the whole suit seemed fight back as if it were trying to bite into his skin and Peter let out a cry of pain and nearly fell off the roof due to the amount of struggling he was trying to do in fighting off the Symbiote.

This struggling would of course see him roll off in the struggle and he might have fallen to his demise from such a height though but good fortune, both he and the Symbiote landed just a few feet down on a brick ledge that on one side was the huge drop and on the other side led into where the church bell was held.

"I…I won't…let you…beat me!" Peter cried out in the battle with the Symbiote as he was doing all he could to pull chunks of the Symbiote off him, but the Symbiote was far from over.

I've tried to be helpful for you and give you all your heart's desires, but you leave me with little choice to now bond with you permanently!

As Peter was quite literally fighting his own demons up in the church tower, down below and entering the building was a solitary figure in the form of Eddie Brock. The church in question was one based right on the edge of the city in what was quite a suburban area of the city in which much of the wealthy families of the city resided. Eddie had in all his time living in New York never been to this part of the city, yet it was the only he could see in walking distance that had a church, plus with it about to rain he had to find shelter one way or the other.

He was relieved that the church was opened ("Guess they are right in saying that a church is always opened," Eddie muttered to himself upon seeing this.) and went to sit down in one of the front pews. He could not see anyone else in here and with only the sight and smell of the burning candles in various areas of the church, it did give a rather eerier yet oddly comforting feeling being the only one here.

Up in front of him he stared up at a golden statue of Jesus Christ on the cross and pondered what to do say. Oh yes, he was going to try and speak to the almighty. Throughout his life Eddie had never been religious and this might've been a waste of time, but what else did he have to do? With these thoughts aside, Eddie began to speak up towards the statue.

"Hello," Eddie uttered like a scared kid. "It's Brock Sir. Eddie Brock Junior. I come before you today…humbled and humiliated to ask you one thing." He paused briefly taking in an intake of air. "I…I would like…for Peter Parker's demise, sir."

The statue remained still, motionless and quiet. Eddie sighed sadly placing his head in his hands and pondered about how hopeless the situation was. The sound of thunder outside was getting louder but Eddie's head rose up when he swore he heard another sound that sounded like a person crying out.

Eddie looked back towards the other end of the church and thought the sound was coming from someone wanting him out of the church but alas there wasn't a soul there, only Eddie in this vast building.

The cry came again, and Eddie stood up quickly and his head looked around trying to see where it was coming from…then sound of the church bell reverberated through the air and Eddie began putting two and two together and realised that the sound was coming from a doorway that led to the base of the bell tower.

Vigilant about whatever was going on, he slowly got up and began walking towards the doorway and the cries seemed to be getting angrier or painful depending on who you asked. Was there a fight going on or, dare Eddie think about it, discover that New York had it's own Quasimodo? Ok the later was a longshot though a small thought crossed Eddie's mind that if so then it would have brought his already dead photography career back to life.

"Damn it," Eddie muttered as he realised he hadn't brought his camera with him. Nonetheless as he arrived at the base of the tower, he peered up and witnessed something he never thought he'd ever see.

High up by the bell was Peter Parker fighting the Symbiote and he was trying everything he could to rip it off, mostly trying to peel of the 'mask' of his face but the Symbiote would fight back and try to force him to the ground. However, on one occasion, the Symbiote forced Peter back towards the bell slamming into it and the noise and vibration from the bell was painful as it was deafening.

Though on the first time when they first slammed into the bell, Peter was stunned that upon impact the Symbiote reacted with what could only be said to be pain. Half of the Symbiote attached to Peter from the waist down seem to try and detach itself from Peter and from it there was the black and slimy form of what looked like some alien creature forming a human form the 'face' being striking having the Spider-Man eye like lens but had a mouth with what looked like teeth.

It made a high pitch roar and Peter then began to think that the sound was causing an effect on the Symbiote. As the ringing went on, the Symbiote seemed to be losing it's grip on Peter and this would allow from to use the opportunity to rip more of the Symbiote off from him with small fragments of slime falling down the tower where down there was as stunned Eddie Brock who, while not finding a Quasimodo character, had found something even better…the discovery of who was Spider-Man.

"Parker," Eddie uttered, frozen to the spot watching the drama taking place above. Suddenly one of the small bits of Symbiote landed on Eddie's shoulder and he was horrified as he saw this strange bit of black slime wriggling and trying to move towards Eddie's face.

He quickly pulled off his jacket and threw it to the corner. At this point Eddie should've run for his life and get away to safety, but Eddie was so stunned at his discovery that he couldn't move. At the top of the bell tower, Peter had now the upper hand on the Symbiote and he fell to his knees, punched the floor which saw the Symbiote starting to slowly fall off his hand, then his arm and finally the rest of his body as it fell further down the shaft. But not without one last firing shot in Peter's mind.

See you in hell, Parker!

At long last and with the bell ringing in his ears, Peter was finally free from the Symbiote and dressed in nothing but his boxers and socks he had prior before the Symbiote bonded with him, he lay there exhausted, weary but nonetheless relieved that it was over. If Peter though had been thinking straight, he would've made sure to secure the Symbiote and make sure it didn't escape and then destroy it somehow, however he was so tried after everything that he didn't care anymore and wanted to get home soon as possible.

Despite the cold chill in the air and the first signs of rains starting to show outside, Peter slowly stood up and webbed around him a temporary web like suit that was to keep him warm until he got back home. Question now was would Felicia still be willing to let him in?

Before he leapt from tower and swung back home, Peter was struck by something he hadn't felt in what seemed like a long time. Silence.

Silence as in that there was no voice in his head either encouraging or mocking him. Just pure silence and weight seemed to have been lifted from Peter. Whatever the circumstances, he was simply happy to feel free and be his own man again. Though as he left thinking that his troubles with the Symbiote were over, down below where Eddie stood, they would be anything but.

From the moment the last of the Symbiote left Peter, several smaller fragments of the stuff were falling and thus ended up on the shoulders of the still stunned Eddie and he desperately tried to pull the alien substance off him but not only was it sticking to him but trying to merge into a much large substance. Looking up briefly again, the last thing he saw was a huge line of black slime falling towards him and he did not have time to react as the Symbiote quickly engulfed the unfortunate man who just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and no matter how hard Eddie tried to pull himself out from the Symbiote, it now had a hold on its new host and Eddie was now engulfed in a black cocoon.

Eddie found himself in a world of darkness in which he could see or move and Eddie might have thought that he had suddenly died and he was now panicking that this was the case, then a voice entered his mind.

Don't fear, Brock.

"H-How'd you know my name?!" Eddie called out, his voice echoing out into a world of nothing.

I sense everything about you and that you want revenge on Parker.

The disgraced photographer was taken aback about Peter Parker. "You…what'd you want?"

I sense that you were left humiliated and that Parker is to blame, is this correct?"

"I, I guess…"

"I know all about him. He is a traitorous being and like you, I would like to see his demise and the rest of those close to him."

Eddie didn't know what but although what this thing was suggesting was a cold-blooded murder, a strange feeling griped him that seemed to make him feel like that it was, for lack of a better word, fine. "What'd you want me to do?"

The voice in his head chuckled.

Bond with me. Together we shall gain our revenge and experience power you will never thought possible.

Eddie felt himself letting go as the Symbiote seem to take over him as many of Peter's memories seem to flood into Eddie's mind.

Aunt May. Uncle Ben. Many villains, Kraven but above all…Felicia. The latter Eddie knew what to do and his response to all this was one word.

"Yes."

On the outside of the black cocoon, it began to morph into a standing up position in which the being turned into a huge figure about eight feet tall, huge muscles and looking like a larger version of the symbiote Spider-Man outfit which included a large white Spider symbol on the front and back, though it was the face that was different. What was different was it had a large mouth with rows of huge teeth and a long tongue emerge from the mouth and what stood there where once Eddie stood was nothing sort of an abomination standing on the surface of the Earth.

Then with a final roar from the creature standing there to announce its arrival to the world, it had only one thing to say.

"WE…ARE…VENOM!"

Well, there we are though with now Peter's memories now in Eddie's mindset, this'll add more drama to the situation! Anyway now on to those who have reviewed:

Jay Youngblood - I think you might be right on a team up there! But where could Kraven be...?

Akira-Hayama - I get the 2021 will be a strange year about all, though might have a happier ending at the end of all this. LOL about Felicia's wifey powers, seems she is taking to being a house wife well it seems, haha! No Felicia and May interaction just yet (this chapter mainly brings us Venom) but we will get into that soon and you don't see many fics in which Felicia and May are interacting about something. Now with Venom being bonded and the memories of Peter now exposed...could be a little bit close to home for the Parkers!

NeoTyson - Felicia is indeed a real keeper and knowing that the Symbiote is to blame for all this. Now the Symbiote will want revenge and I do like writing it as the real villain which is acting as the lynchpin of the plot.

Anyway, hope you enjoyed this and I will reveal that I'm serious considering writing out a Batman Returns fic which includes some BatmanxCatwoman fluff for sure though I think it'll be be different to film though it's on the backburner as I have to get this story finished first. Until then, catch you all later!
