(The morning after Thomas's rediscovering of Great Waterton, Sir Topham Hatt spoke with him through the phone.)
STH: (through the phone) Since you found Great Waterton, I've decided to place you in charge of overseeing it's restoration. This job is important, and once you've given the tasks to the others, I want you to see if you could find more track.
Thomas: Yes sir!
(As Thomas then thought of how good of a job he would do being in charge, he didn't take in what the controller said next.)
STH: Good to hear. As you do this job, our new student that's arriving today will do you your usual duties. (ends call)
(As Thomas then smiled broadly and went to tell his family about his job, Sir Topham Hatt, James and Henry were at brendam docks excitedly waiting for the new student and engine. Suddenly, through the thick cloud of smoke, out came a new shining 0-6-0 Tank engine. It was much shinier, and stronger than Thomas's.)
STH: (as the new student stepped out from his engine's cab) This is Stanley Hudswell. Our new tank engine driver and student.
Herny: Oh my. His engine is certainly nice. I wonder what Thomas would say.
(Later, Thomas had been driving his E2 outside of Great Waterton. He had found a lot of hidden tracks and had placed markers by them to let the staff know all that he found. As he then stopped his engine by the junton he smiled with pride as James came up in his class 28.)
Thomas: James! You won't believe all the tracks I've found.
James: (obviously not interested with what Thomas was saying.) Nice. But did you know there's a new tank engine driver student on the island? His name is Stanley, and boy is he friendly.
(As Thomas then took in the news, he suddenly felt that the tracks he found were no longer important. The next day, Thomas picked up a train of stone from the quarry. However as the E2 driver went, he found Percy and a guy he had never seen before at the wash down with their engine's. The teen in silver was laughing very loudly as he and Percy covered their engines in bubbles.)
Thomas: (in mind) So, that must be Stanley. (looks at Percy) Hey! Percy!
(But Percy did not hear nor notice his best friend. He was too busy having fun with Stanley. As Thomas then sadly drove his E2 away, he began to feel something he truly hated. Loneliness. Loneliness that no-one bothered to notice him. Loneliness that no-one even said hello to him. As Thomas drove his E2 throughout the day, he was getting more and more frustrated. So much so, that he didn't even bother to check his speed as his E2 and his heavy load then raced round a bend and toppled off the track. Luckily he was not severely hurt, but when Sir Topham Hatt arrived on Edward's K2, he was very cross.)
STH: I'm very ashamed of you, Thomas. You were being quite careless on this bend. Now Stanley will have to be in charge while your engine gets repaired.
Thomas: Yes sir.
(As Thomas's e2 was then loaded onto a flatbed behind Edward's K2, Stanley and his engine passed by them and was given a loud and warm welcome as he then arrived at Great Waterton. As Thomas heard it, his blood boiled and his teeth gritted. NO-ONE was that happy when he arrived, let alone talking to him on other than work related topics. As he served with anger, Thomas wanted nothing more than to have things go back to how he knew them to be. The next day, Thomas's engine was fully repaired, and the Billinton was quite eager to get back to work. As the E2 driver then rode into Great Waterton, he gasped in amazement. The town had really been worked on.)
Thomas: Wow. It's really been worked hard on. It will be back to its former shape in no time flat. (looks ahead and frowns.) Oh. There's Stanley. (sighs) (in mind) Why must he be noticed? Why does he have people by his side and not me?
(As Thomas began to ask these questions within, he suddenly saw Sir Topham Hatt waving to him to come over. And so, as Thomas did, his face was sad and solemn.)
STH: Right. So since Stanley has been doing such a good job with being in charge, I've decided to keep him at his current post, and have you help him.
Thomas: (solemnly) Yes sir.
(A little later, Thomas reluctantly came with Stanley to some sidings where trucks of gravel sat. As the E2 driver looked about, Stanley spoke to him.)
Stanley: I hear that you're an excellent shunter. So I need you to have your engine shunt me a train of these trucks to take to the wharf. I'll be back a little later.
Thomas: (As he saw Stanley leave.) (muttering) Oh so you want me to make you a train? I'll give you one alright!
(As Thomas then opened the regulator, his E2 biffed the truck fiercely. Later, when Stanley returned, he gasped as he saw a long line of trucks waiting for him.)
Stanley: My goodness. This is a long line.
Thomas: (crossly) I'd doubt it'd be a struggle for a strong engine as your own.
(As Stanley then sighed, he coupled the trucks to his engine and began his way to the wharf. However as Stanley brought the trucks to the hill before the wharf, the coupling strained and strained until it snapped. As the trucks then rattled down the hill, everyone watched in shock as they then crashed into the tower, causing bricks and dust to go everywhere. The extenise work has been wasted. As Sir Topham Hatt came to see Thomas, the E2 driver felt very bad and ashamed for he knew that THIS was all his fault.)
STH: Thomas. Why did you make Stanley's train too long?
(Thomas said nothing, for he knew why he did it, but, he didn't want to have the other to know about it. As the students then murmured to one another, Thomas just drove off in his E2, feeling very sad. As the boy then found an old siding, Thomas then climbed out of his engine's cab and onto it's boiler. He was very frustrated and he felt smaller and lonelier than ever. feeling the very things he hated most, Thomas began to sob, for THESE feelings within him, were the same ones he felt back in Brighton, where he was bullied quite a bit. As Thomas sobbed, Stanley saw him from a track that oversaw his, and couldn't help but feel bad for him.)
Stanley: (in mind) Thomas feels so alone. All he wants is to not be pushed into the dark, but with my arrival here, he has. Oh I wish there was something I could do to help.
(As Stanley thought of ways he could help, he couldn't figure out the best way and so felt even worse than ever. Later Sir Topham Hatt called the students for a meeting at Great Waterton. He had bad news.)
STH: It appears that Great Waterton will now not be ready in time for Sodor day. So, tonight, Jack's team will be clearing away the rubble, and then all of you will have to take them away.
(As the Engine drivers then nodded, and drove away, NO-ONE said a single word to the E2 driver. As Thomas watched everyone depart, he felt very heart broken. He had let EVERYONE down. As Thomas then returned to his home that evening, no-one in his family had noticed him come in, which made him feel even worse. As Thomas then went into his room, he planted his face into his pillow and began to dwell over the fact over his big mess up.)
Thomas: (in mind) No-one wants me anymore. Not even my family. Why did I get mad? Why did I let everyone down? Why did I have to shunt too many trucks?! (an Idea then strikes him.) Wait... Shunt. If I can shunt those trucks of rubble before the morning that will greatly help everyone.
(As Thomas then wrote a note onto his desk, he leaped quietly out of his bedroom window, and went quickly to the engine shed. Later, as Thomas then drove his E2 to Great Waterton, he found all the trucks loaded with the rubble and all ready to be pushed away. As Thomas worked throughout the night, he wanted to do something right, and make up for his mistake. However, as he then shunted the last line into place, he noticed that one of the trucks had rolled to the outside of an old mine shaft.)
Thomas: (sighs) You just got to love the laws that Issac Newton discovered. Oh well, not the first time this kind of thing happened to me. I'll soon fix this. (drives E2 towards the truck, but, to only bump it.) Whoops. I'd better go after it.
(As Thomas then drove his E2 into the mineshaft, he was grateful that it had a bright lamp. As the driver then looked about the old tunnels, he suddenly spotted the truck rolling farther and farther away.)
Thomas: I must go and retrieve it! (opens regulator)
(As Thomas's E2 then went down the steep slope he suddenly found the track to be turning into a scary yet thrilling ride as the rails dipped down and rose up again. However, the teen did not notice the fork up ahead, and went down the left as the truck went to the right. Then as the teen saw the blocked up section ahead, he applied the brakes, but it was too late.)
Thomas: WAH! (as his E2 lands on a raft made up from the boards he crashed through.) My Goodness! This tunnel is flooded! (feels a strong jerk that made him fall onto the cab's floor) Whoa! Oh no, I landed in a place with a current!
(As Thomas's E2 floated down the current of water, Thomas pulled the whistle chain, but to only have no-one hear it. The teen was was cold, alone, and very scared. He wanted to do something right, but to only have it go wrong in the end.)
(End of Episode)
Stanley: Time for the next episode's preview. When we arrive at Great Waterton the next morning, we discover that Thomas was missing and all of us went looking for him across the Island. I just hope he's okay, for everyone seems very worried about him and that I need to make amends for making him feel so alone and sad. Next Time. One's whereabouts.
