Barry sped Skye and Trip to the room where the rest of the teams was. He could hardly believe what he had heard, how did the U.S government find them? This was one of the most classified S.H.I.E.L.D. bases in the history of classified things. It must have been Hydra.
"What's going on?" Barry asked
"The U.S Army's infiltrating the base, under one General Glenn Talbot." Coulson said
Barry had heard that name before, he'd read it in one of his level 9 access files. Talbot lead on of the best Special Forces units in the world, he made the Navy and the Marines look like little kiddies playing war games and dress up.
"What do we do?" Ward asked
Coulson turned to Barry in desperation. "Barry. You, Skye, Ward and Simmons get out of here. Take the bus, find Garrett and stop him, we'll take care of things here."
"Are you crazy?" Barry replied "We're not-"
"Please Barry, just go." Coulson asked "Would Fury want you to be captured?"
"No." Barry replied softly
"No." Coulson said repeating Barry's answer "Now, get Skye, yourself, Simmons and Ward out of here."
Barry nodded as he disappeared in a flash of lightning taking Ward and Jemma to the bus, Barry came back and took Skye as he stopped in the hangar of the Bus. Ward closed the hangar as it covered the Bus.
"Ward, can you fly this?" Barry asked the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent
"Yeah, I can." Ward replied "We'll need an arsenal from the Triskelion."
"We get it there." Jemma said "We took it back, it should be Hydra-free."
"And if it isn't?" Skye asked
"Let's just focus on getting out of here, for now. We'll talk about it while we're in the air. Ward, fly us out of here." Barry commanded
Ward nodded as he, Skye, Jemma and Barry made their way upstairs. Barry, Jemma and Skye stayed back in the living room as Ward made his way to the cockpit. Ward turned on the necessary controls as he got the Bus into the skies and took off, leaving the rest of the team at the base. Skye looked out the window as she last saw the base before it vanished out of her line of sight.
"Will they be okay?" Skye asked, looking at Barry.
"I hope so." Barry said as Jemma went to the cockpit and sat in the co-pilot's seat next to Ward.
"Be careful, you never know what you touch." Ward warned
"Right." Jemma said as she noticed the sadness filling Ward's eyes "Are you okay?"
"No." Ward replied "I just abandoned my team, left them at the mercy of some government agent."
"We all feel guilty. Coulson and the team... they're strong." Jemma assured "They'll find a way out, they always do."
"They better." Ward said as he put the plane on autopilot "Cause if they don't, the only base they'll be in is prison."
"I know." Jemma said as she pulled Ward into a deep kiss.
S.H.I.E.L.D. Base
"They did it." May said looking at the plane's location "They got out."
"Good." Coulson said
"Now, what do we do?" Fitz asked
"Let's deal with this, the more peaceful way." Coulson said "You guys stay here."
"And let you go out there?" Trip asked "I don't think so."
"They're the U.S Army, Trip." Coulson explained "They hope to do this the easy way, and so do I."
"Alright, if you say so." Trip said
Coulson nodded as he stepped out of the room and walked towards the hall where the unit was. Coulson stopped at the intersection as he looked and saw Gen. Glenn Talbot, there were about 5 soldiers (excluding Talbot) behind all pointing guns at Coulson.
"Agent Coulson." Talbot greeted
"General." Coulson greeted back "This is one of the most classified bases to ever exist, how'd you find it?"
Talbot stepped to the side, revealing Maria Hill to be standing behind him.
"'Cause I told them." Hill answered
Coulson stared in shock, he couldn't believe what he was seeing. Maria Hill give up the location of a S.H.I.E.L.D. base? Everything really is changing Coulson thought to himself.
"So," Talbot said as he faced Coulson "I assume you have a place where we could talk in private."
"Follow me." Coulson said coolly as he walked to a room, Hill, Talbot and and one of the soldier from the unit followed him
Coulson opened the door as he invited Hill, the soldier and Talbot inside. Coulson stepped back as the soldier that followed Talbot closed the door and locked it behind him.
"So, let's talk business." Talbot said
Back in the room, May, Trip, Fitz and Simmons all stayed in their seats as the four soldiers stood guard watching them. May gave a glance towards Trip as he looked back at May, May nodded at him as she and Trip each jumped at one of the soldiers. May knocked the her's in seconds as she moved on to take out another one whereas Trip had a hard time. The soldier went for punch to Trip's face, Trip skidded to the left as he kicked the soldier in the stomach before knocking him out with a punch. May finished taking out the soldier she fought as she and Trip looked at the remaining soldier, before they could do anything, two shots from an I.C.E.R. hit the soldier as he fell to the floor unconscious.
"Well done, nerd." Trip complimented
"Well, I did say I'd help." Fitz replied
"We need to get Coulson and find a way to reach Barry and the others on the Bus." May said
"I've got that covered." Fitz said, pulling out a sort of communication device from his pocket.
"Good." May said
"Let's go get Coulson." Trip said as he, Fitz and May left the room and headed straight for Coulson.
In another room, Coulson and Talbot continued to argue with each other as Hill tried to be of assistance in an attempt to come to Talbot's aid.
"Alright Phil, I'll make you one last deal." Talbot said "Barry Allen and Grant Ward for your team and S.H.I.E.L.D."
"What in the hell makes you think I'm gonna take that offer?!" Coulson spat
"You can save S.H.I.E.L.D. and your team, all you have to do is give me two men." Talbot tempted "We both know you're burning to say 'yes', what's stopping you?"
"My soul and my conscience." Coulson replied as he looked at Hill "Now would be a good time."
Hill pulled an I.C.E.R. from her gun holster, aimed it at the soldier at the door and fired it as he dropped to the ground unconscious. Talbot, out of impulse, went for a punch to Coulson's face. Coulson was quicker as he stepped back, aimed his I.C.E.R. and fired it at Talbot. Talbot fell to the ground as he lost consciousness.
"Thanks." Coulson thanked "You gave me a scare there."
"Well, I had to get to you somehow." Hill replied "Wonder why he wanted Allen and Ward."
"That's not important right now." Coulson said "Garrett's the clairvoyant, he's Hydra and so is Hand."
"Hand?" Hill said, shocked by what she had just heard. "I mean I got your message about Garrett, but Hand. She vetted me."
"Let's just make contact with the Bus." Coulson said
"Where are Ward and Allen exactly?" Hill asked
"On the Bus." Coulson answered "They escaped before you got here."
Suddenly, the door opened as Trip and May came out with their I.C.E.R.'s around the room, noticing what had happened.
"She with us?" May asked, asking about Hill.
"Yeah, you guys good?" Coulson asked back
"We're doing okay." May replied
"Where's Fitz?" Coulson asked, noticing that the young scientist wasn't with them.
"He's preparing the Quinjet in Hangar One, we'll take off soon." Trip said as he looked at Hill "Can you fly one of those, Agent Hill?"
"Sure can, Agent Trip." Hill answered as she and May left the room for the hangar.
"She knows me?" Trip asked Coulson as they followed the ladies to the Quinjet.
"She kinda knows everyone." Coulson replied as they made their way inside the Quinjet.
"Fitz, we good to go?" Trip asked
"Yeah." Fitz replied as Hill took the pilot's seat and turned on all of the controls.
The ceiling opened as the Quinjet took off. May, Coulson, Fitz and Trip all strapped in their seats as Hill flew the Quinjet through the roof and into the skies, after a few minutes, Hill put the Quinjet on autopilot as it flew on it's own.
"Alright, we're in the air and we should be good to go." Hill said
"Wait sir," Fitz said "What about Agent Koenig?"
"He'll be fine." Hill assured
"We need to contact Barry and the rest of the team and we need to do it now." Trip said as he looked over to Fitz
Fitz pulled out his communications device as he tapped on it a few times before it turned on and kept beeping. The team waited patiently as the device continued to beep, signaling the rest of the team.
"Please work, please work, please work." Fitz muttered to himself
The Bus
"Hey guys." Skye called as she entered the cockpit with Barry. "I've got something."
"What'd you get?" Ward asked
"We're getting a call from an unknown source. We haven't answered it yet." Barry explained
"Well, let's find out who's on the other side." Jemma said as she, Barry, Skye and Ward made their way to the briefing room.
Skye pulled up the call on the screen as she pressed the 'answer' button.
"Barry? Ward? Guys?" said a familiar voice
"Fitz?" Barry replied
"Barry, hey." Fitz said "Are you guys okay?"
"Yeah, we're fine. What about you? Did you guys get out of there?"
"Yep, we're on a Quinjet and we're coming to you." said a familiar female voice
"Hill?" Ward called
"Hey Ward." Hill replied "You and Simmons, huh? I always knew there was something between the two of you."
"Oh forget that, where exactly are you?" Fitz asked
"We're headed towards the Triskelion." Jemma answered
"Alright, we'll meet you there." Hill said as she ended the call
"Finally, some good words." Skye said
"Guys." Ward said "We're landing in ten minutes, suit up."
Eventually, everyone got ready as they lowered the Bus' hangar door.
"Alright, I'll take Skye with me to the command center. You guys search the area for anyone inside." Barry commanded
"Got it." Ward replied
Barry raced off with Skye as he ran through the Triskelion in a flash of lightning, Barry stopped as he and Skye reached the Triskelion. The two looked around in shock to see everything destroyed, the place was empty as no one was inside. Back in the hangar, Ward looked at Jemma as he knew what the two of them would have to do.
"Let's go." Ward said
"Okay." Jemma said as she loaded the I.C.E.R. Ward had given her.
Ward and Jemma exited the plane's hangar as they went towards the Triskelion building, but suddenly, Ward felt something hard hit his neck as he fell to the ground. Ward pulled out the projectile and looked at it, it was a tranquilizer. Jemma looked at Ward, shocked.
"Grant!" Jemma cried "Are you-"
Jemma was cut off by a tranquilizer hitting her neck, she dropped to the ground and lost consciousness. Ward looked and noticed two figures with his blurry vision, he knew who they were: it was Deathlok and Garrett.
"Well, well, well. How the tables have turned." Garrett said, remembering when Ward had shot him while Ward lied on the ground, unable to move as the effects of the tranquilizer took over his body.
"Put 'em in the plane and let's take it." Garrett commanded Deathlok as Ward lost consciousness and the whole world darkened and faded around him.
Back inside, Barry had decided to call in Ward and Jemma.
"Guys, the coast is clear. You can come now." Barry said into comms
Barry and Skye heard nothing but comms static from the comms channel, Barry gave Skye a confused look as Skye tried to call in the other two S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
"Ward, Simmons. Come in." Skye said into comms.
"Come and get 'em." a familiar voice replied
"Garrett." Barry realized as he grabbed Skye and sped outside.
Barry was hoping to catch Garrett, but it was too late. Skye and Barry looked up into the skies as they saw the Bus flying away.
"NO!" Barry screamed
"Ward... Simmons." Skye said softly as she turned to Barry "What do we do?"
"We wait for Coulson." Barry replied "And we get them both back, no matter what."
