Chapter 10: Finale

"Hmm...where to start…" The officiant muttered to himself.

Drew looked at the officiant. "You can just start at the 'I dos'." He looked back at May's eyes and May blushed.

The officiant smiled at the happy couple. "Very well then. Do you, Drew, take Princess May to be your wedded wife? Do you promise to love her, comfort her, honor and keep her, in sickness and in health, and to remain faithful to her for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." Drew said.

"And do you, Princess May, take Drew to be your wedded husband? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honor and keep him, in sickness and in health, and to remain faithful to him for as long as you both shall live?"

"I do." May said.

The officiant handed May and Drew each a ring. Drew lifted up May's right hand and slid the ring on her ring finger. May then did the same to Drew.

"Now, without further ado," the officiant started. "I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride."

Drew took the lead and he took a step closer to May. May flushed when Drew's face leaned in closer to hers. Drew ran his hand through May's hair, tilting her head more up. They both closed their eyes and Drew pressed his lips on May's. The ballroom erupted into applause.

May and Drew stayed like that for a few more seconds before pulling away from each other. They both smiled at each other.

"Your Majesty." Drew bowed. He then took May's hand and held it up chest level. "May I have this dance?"

May giggled. "You may."

Drew led May to the center of the ballroom and they got into the slow dance position like in a fairytale. Drew had been given a tuxedo to change into before the coronation. May had changed into a shorter dress as well that doesn't drag on the floor. The slow music started playing and they started dancing with all eyes on them from the edges of the room.

"So, King Drew," May started. "You look really handsome tonight."

"Thank you." Drew said. "And you, Queen May, are very beautiful tonight."

May giggled and blushed. "Thank you."

"I'm really glad that today worked out."

"Me too. I really couldn't bear to be apart from you forever." May said.

"Right back at you. You truly mean the world to me. And I can't go having you marry some other person, now can I?"

"I guess not, but...I have a question for you."

"What is it?"

"What about your...fiancé?" May asked.

"Harper? You know that she's never been my fiancé." Drew said. "I never proposed to her and I never agreed to marrying her. I'm all yours."

May blushed. "But...won't your parents be upset that you married me without even telling them?"

"They might. But I don't care." Drew said. "I won't let them separate us."

May smiled. "Thank you. I love you, Drew."

"I love you too. And don't worry about Harper. She can't separate us either."

"Your Majesties, there's people at the front who want to have a word with you." A guard said.

"Okay. Thanks." May said.

"I wonder who it is." Drew said.

"Let's go see." May took Drew's hand and dragged him out of the room.

"I'm coming, I'm coming."

May and Drew walked to the front of the castle, exiting the front doors. Drew gasped at who was there. His parents.

"Mom, Dad." Drew said. "What are you guys doing here?"

Drew's Dad furrowed his eyebrows at Drew. "We would like to know why there are banners and posters all over the city that say 'King Drew' on it."

"Oh. Umm...those posters…"

May stepped forward after seeing the nervousness on Drew's face. "Drew's the King. That's why."

Drew's Dad looked at May. "The King? I don't think so." He looked at Drew. "We want an explanation, Drew."

"Well…" Drew started.

It's now or never.

Drew stepped forward and took May's hand, looking his parents directly in the eyes. "She's telling the truth."

"What do you mean, Drew?" Drew's Dad asked angrily. "You're not the King."

"Yes I am." Drew said quickly after. "It happened today, but…" Drew wrapped his arm around May's waist and pulled her to him. "May and I are married."

"What?" Drew's Mom and Dad asked suddenly.

"And it happened so fast that I couldn't tell you." Drew continued. "And I know that you would probably say no anyway. But I'm in love with May and you can't separate us from each other. I love her and not Harper." May blushed.

It stayed silent after that. Drew's Dad and Mom are in shock at the fact that Drew is talking back to them. And they're surprised that Drew is actually the King now.

Drew's Dad sighed, anger gone. "Well, it's not like we can really punish the King, right?"

Drew's Mom smiled. "Welcome to the family, Your Majesty."

"Thank you." May said. "And also...you're the parents of the King, so you're allowed to punish him whenever you want."

Drew looked at May. "Why would you tell them that?" He whispered.

May giggled and looked at Drew. "You got married without telling them. I think you should get some sort of punishment."

"Well, how about you give him his punishment for us?" Drew's Mom asked.

Drew and May looked back at Drew's parents. "Me?" May questioned. "Why?"

"Because you gave us permission in the first place."

"I think it's best that you really do give Drew whatever punishment you think he deserves." Drew's Dad said.

"Hmm…" May said, glancing at Drew.

Drew looked at May and gulped. "You really...won't punish me, right?"

"We'll see."

"So," Drew said, trying to get May's mind off of punishing him. He looked at his parents. "What will you tell Harper?"

"That she never really had a chance with you." Drew's Mom answered.

"That's what I've been trying to tell you guys for a long time." Drew said.

"We know. And we're sorry. To both of you. Harper was the reason you ran away from Drew's mansion that day when we visited, right?"

May nodded. "Yeah. She was."

"Well, just wait until she hears that you were actually the Princess."

"Who will tell her?"

"We will of course. You might have her as a visitor sometime soon."

"That's fine, I guess." Drew said.

"Well," Drew's Dad started. "We're so proud of you, Drew."

"You are?" Drew questioned.

"Of course. You married a beautiful girl. I hope for the best for both of you."

May and Drew smiled. "Thank you." They said in unison.

And so...after the wedding and coronation of the King and Queen, May and Drew told each other how much they missed each other when they were apart. And they both spent every day strengthening their relationship. While ruling the kingdom of course.

"Your Majesties, I have some terrible news. A school was just burned down in a fire." A guard said.

May and Drew both gasped. "Was anyone hurt?" May asked.

"Everyone was safely evacuated."

"That's good."

"So what do you suppose we do about the school?"

"Hmm…" May looked next to her at Drew. "I've taught you some things about being royal in the past few days." Drew looked at May. "So what do you think we should do about the school?"

"You want...me to answer?" Drew asked incredulously.

May nodded. "Show me what you've learned about being royal...King."

"Well...I suppose we could put in the money to rebuild it."

May smiled and gestured her hand to the guard that's waiting for an answer. They both faced forward.

Drew took a deep breath. "Get construction workers rebuilding the school. Tell them we'll pay for the entire reconstruction."

The guard bowed. "As you wish, Your Majesty." With that said, the guard left the Throne Room.

May placed her hand on Drew's and they looked at each other. "Good job." May said.

Drew smiled. "That was the first time I ever gave an order as King, so those words mean a lot."

May and Drew ruled together as a happy married couple like they both wanted. Ever since they got married to each other a month ago, Drew always saw that bright smile on May's face that he loved. And every day, Drew thinks of when he promised Norman before getting married. Drew promised to always make May smile and to protect her. And Drew has done amazing keeping those promises.

"June, close your eyes." Drew said.

"What? Why?" May asked.

"Because I have an anniversary surprise for you."

"A surprise?" May asked excitedly.

"Yes, but you need to close your eyes."

May closed her eyes. "Kay."

Drew walked to his desk and opened a drawer. He pulled out a small black box. He walked back to May, standing in front of her.

"Hold out your hands." Drew said.

May held out both hands to Drew in a cup. Drew placed the box in May's hands.

"Can I open my eyes?" May asked.

"Yes." Drew answered.

May opened her eyes and looked down at the box.

"I hope you like what's inside."

May smiled and took the lid of the box off. She gasped at what was inside. There's a gold-chain necklace with a red rose pendant. May took the necklace out and held it up.

"It's beautiful." May said.

"Read the back."

May handed Drew the box and then she turned the pendant around, looking at the back of it. There are words inscribed on the necklace.

"To my beautiful wife and the love of my life." May read. She blushed afterward and looked at Drew.

"Like it?" Drew asked.

"I love it. This is the sweetest gift you could ever give me." May held the necklace out to Drew. "Put it on me."

Drew took the necklace out of May's hand and he walked around her, facing her back. He reached out in front of May and put the necklace around her neck.

May lifted the pendant up with one hand and she smiled down at it. She then felt Drew's breath against her cheek. She turned her head to look into the eyes of Drew.

"Happy anniversary." Drew said.

"Happy anniversary." May said. And then Drew leaned in and kissed her.

No one will ever separate them. And their love for each other just keeps getting stronger and stronger. They had been together for at least a year and they still fall more and more in love. One thing's for sure. This married couple will always be together. Always and forever in love.

The End.
