Disclaimer: I do not own General Hospital or the characters, just the story line.
Jason looked over at Carly, his mind trying to process all the many different thoughts that were floating inside his head. Was Carly going to wake up soon? Was she going to wake up at all? Why was he calling her his? Jason stared at Carly as he ran his fingers through her blood encrusted blonde hair, taking in her broken, lifeless appearance for what seemed to be the millionth time in an hour.
Jason was angry with himself. He was angry that he didn't take Carly with him and the kids. He was angry that he let himself walk out of the door without making sure everything was okay. Most of all, he was angry for not following his instincts that were screaming at him to read further into the situation, but he ignored them. He blamed himself for everything. Jason jumped as he was brought out of his thoughts by a knock on the door.
Looking back, Jason saw that Monica was standing in the frame of the door, holding a cup of coffee in her hand. Jason sighed and waved her inside. "Hi mom." He whispered. She handed him the cup of coffee and he nodded, knowing what she was silently trying to tell him. Jason took a long sip of the scalding hot liquid, relishing in the pain of the burn, believing he deserved it for not protecting Carly more. "Son?" Monica asked. "Tell me whats going on in that head of yours." She ordered softly. Jason sighed and stayed quiet for a moment.
"It's my fault. It''s all my fault. I should have took her with me, or left guards with her, or done something more than what I did. I should have never left her." He whispered brokenly, still looking at Carly. From the corner of his eye, he could see Monica shaking her head in disagreement. "Son, how were you supposed to know that someone was going to come after Carly? Or that they were going to leave her like this? It's not up to you to do everything." She told him. "Have you gotten any sleep at all since you brought her in?"
Jason shook his head. "Not really. I dozed off a couple of hours ago, but that didn't last very long. I had this really weird dream." He admitted. "Carly and I were at Jake's playing a game of pool, and when I leaned in to grab her and give her a kiss, she vanished in my arms. All that was left of her was a thick, hazy fog." Jason described to his mother. Monica nodded. "That happens. When two souls are connected, there is no breaking that, not even a coma. She might have been trying to tell you something." She explained.
"I love her mom." Jason finally confessed. "I love her, and I don't think I ever stopped. The moment I woke up, was the moment I realized that I was still in love with Caroline Jacks." He swore to himself that he was going to try his damdest not to let her go again. Monica leaned over and gave Jason a tight hug. "I know son, I've always known." She told him.
Awe major Mother-son moment. Jason finally realizes he loves Carly, so sweet. I honestly didn't expect it to go like this lol. I hope this chapter wasn't too much of a disappointment. Again, I'm sorry for the late update. Please review and let me know what you think or if I need to work on anything.
