Sleep
It was a sleep filled, peaceful night at Wawanaka. All the remaining campers were all asleep, content in their dreamlands. Hidden in the trees outside were the thousands of Swarm bots, all carefully watching if Mimic or anything else just as dangerous. Unaware to all, however, on the other side of the island, a monster stepped out into the night. Nightmare, having finally escaped the underground staff facility, began to make his way through the forest towards the cabins. Despite being a 9 foot tall animatronic with a metal endoskeleton, he was as silent as the wind that rustled the leaves. Nightmare growled as his glowing red eyes darted around, taking in the surroundings. That's when he noticed it.
A camera.
He just stood rooted on the spot, staring at the camera like a deer caught in front of a car. He made sharp, yet almost unnoticeable, movements. On the other end of the camera was an intern. He was one of the few who ran the nightshift, having to watch the cameras to find the slightest bit of extra footage. He was half asleep, not noticing the large black bear with blood red eyes on one of the screens. When he finally looked, Nightmare was gone. The intern huffed, spinning in his swivel chair. When he spun to face the entrance of the surveillance tent, he stopped. Nightmare was there, bending down so the intern could see his toothy smile, teeth so pointed and sharp that Black Hole would be jealous. The intern did nothing but pale. Nightmare began to enter the tent, opening his mouth to reveal several sets of teeth. The intern tried to scream, but Nightmare pounced before anything could happen. In less than a second, the tent was empty. No intern. No Nightmare. Only the presence of the dead.
Back at the camp, MW had woken up. He checked the clock that was attached to his hammock's support.
12:00 AM
He quietly groaned. Ever since Phobia Factor, and in turn his traumatizing encounter with Siren Head, he has had a lot of trouble getting to sleep. MW looked around the cabin. Everyone else were still asleep. He decided to have a walk, so he put on his shoes, grabbed his flashlight, and exited the cabin. When he stepped out, he took in the fresh forest air. He made his way down the cabin steps, only to notice... five... people gathered at the end of the dock. He began to make his way over, quickly able to tell the mysterious strangers were Galaxy, Gwen, Trent, Leshawna and Courtney, all happily chatting. Galaxy was the first to notice him approaching. He waved MW over.
"Hey guys", Milky Way said, "What are you all doing up? At midnight, none the less."
"Couldn't sleep." "Same." "Ditto." Gwen, Trent and Leshawna said respectively.
"Yeah, none of us could sleep", Courtney said, "I see you couldn't, either."
"You can thank that speaker with legs for that", MW said, a hint of anger in his voice.
Galaxy shot him a sympathetic smile. "We know, MW. You don't have to worry, we'll be here for you."
MW smiled, a smile that grew when Courtney stood up and pecked him on the cheek. Courtney led MW to the others, and they continued to swap stories. Unknown to them, off in the woods, a monster watched them.
Nightmare stood at the edge of the woods, watching the six with laser focus. His breaths were slow and low, almost like a growl. His fingers twitched, each time causing his claws to glint in the moonlight. His golden hat and bowtie sparkled, seemingly attracting a camera towards him. When it looked where he was, Nightmare was gone. Now, he poked out from behind the Gophers' cabin. His eyes never left the teens. His mind was working overtime to come up with some sort of plan. Then it thought of something. Instantly and silently, Nightmare darted back into the forest. This plan would take time. He'll get those teens.
Another time.
After their chat, the merry band of six were able to finally get some sleep, and were now happily chatting with their respective teams. Heather was still shivering and sneezing, wrapped up in a thick blanket. She sneezed again.
"Wow, and here I thought your heart couldn't get any colder", Galaxy taunted, earning a snicker from Trent, Gwen and Leshawna. Owen was to busy stuffing his face to care.
"Oh, ha ha", Heather fake laughed, her teeth not chattering as hard as yesterday, "You'll regret the day you met me!"
"To late", Gwen muttered to her friends. They snickered. Heather sneezed again in response.
"Ugh! I hate this place!"
With the Bass, Courtney was busy chewing Duncan out for attempting to steal a mug. MW watch their argument from afar at his usual spot at the table. Andromeda was talking with Bridgette, Geoff and DJ (who had Bunny in his lap), and Black Hole was simply playing with food, a bored expression on his face. Chris' voice echoed across the camp.
"Everyone at the dock in five!" He announced. At this, the campers made their way out.
All the campers stood at attention as Chris paced back and forth in front of them.
"After the last challenge, it seems there's some problems with the Gophers", He said, smirking. Heather entered a glaring war with Galaxy, Gwen, Leshawna and Trent. "And I'm sensing some funk in the Bass pond." MW and Courtney shoot a glance at Duncan, who simply smirked and winked back. MW scoffed. "So that brings us to today's challenge: Trust. Follow me, everyone!"
Confessional
Galaxy - "Trust... That is a good idea. I doubt Heather would care. Once we win this challenge, she'll just be her usual, b*tchy self."
Static
Black Hole - "I'm the most untrustworthy person here. I've been a hitman, murderer and psychopath." He laughs. "I am a monster. And I'm proud of it." He begins to laugh hysterically.
Confessional End
Chris had led the campers to a tall rock wall... one with odd footprints at the base of it. Nobody seem to take notice except Black Hole. He eyed them suspiciously before turning his attention back to Chris.
"Your first challenge is a simple belay rock climb", he explained, "The team for this one are Heather and Gwen for the Gophers and Duncan and DJ for the Bass." Chris tossed the pairs their belay equipment. Black Hole kept getting these chills while Heather once again barked orders at Gwen. While Trent and Leshawna scowled at the queen bee, Galaxy noticed Black Hole's odd behavior.
"What's wrong?" Galaxy asked as DJ and Gwen began scaling the rock wall.
"I feel... something", Black Hole responded, "I just don't know what."
"Well, try and find out what it is."
Black Hole saluted and vanished. Unbeknownst to him, or any one for that matter, an odd plush cupcake with fangs was watching everything from a top the cliff, before hopping back into the woods. Just then, Gwen made it to the top, the back of her skirt missing (courtesy of Heather). As she cheered, she thought she saw a pair of glowing eyes, one red and one white, staring at her from the trees. She did a quick double take, only to see nothing. She just shrugged it off and began her climb down.
The next part was a simple cook-off, and only those needed for it were required to be in the main lodge, so everyone else took this chance to have a nice break. Black Hole was still searching for the mysterious presence, Milky Way, Courtney and Andromeda were hanging out with Galaxy, Gwen and Leshawna (Trent was at the cook-off), and everyone else were busy keeping themselves distracted. Black Hole asked Swarm if it saw anything. The berps BH got in response said it all.
No.
BH was beginning to wonder if he just didn't sleep properly. He was a ways away from the camp, so he decided to head back. As he left, however, he saw it.
The same footprints that were at the base of the cliff. Only there were so many more, almost like... a hoard of creatures came by. BH, using his animalistic abilities, took a big wiff of the surrounding area's scent.
...
Oil...
...
Fire...
...
Bear...
BH sighed. It wasn't enough, but something else was definitely here. BH was about to continue searching when Swarm alerted him the final part of the challenge was half done. BH quickly made his way to the others. Not to far away, Nightmare growled as the maniac ran, his red eyes watching it leave. Behind Nightmare stood two others; a yellow chicken and red fox. Both were in the same state of ruin and with the same pointed teeth as Nightmare. The chicken was carrying the cupcake from before in her left hand, and the fox had a hook where his right hand would be. Both were as tall as Andromeda. After Black Hole vanished from sight, the three vanished.
Black Hole caught up to everyone just as they began the blind toboggan race. DJ and Geoff for the Bass, Gwen and Leshawna for the Gophers. When BH stood next to Galaxy, he quickly filled him in.
"Trent's in the infirmary for eating a poisonous pufferfish, Milky Way took a volley of apples for Courtney, and Heather fell in a pool full of jellyfish."
BH nodded and turned his attention to the two sleds. Gwen was screaming as Leshawna dodged countless explosions, DJ and Geoff doing the same. Right before they reached the finish line, Chris triggered another explosion, both teams dodged, the Gophers getting the slightest edge, making them the winners.
"And Gophers win!" Chris announced, "Bass, I'll see your buts at-" but before he could finish, something big and metallic crashed right next to everyone. A large cloud of dust was kicked up, forcing the others to cough. BH could have sworn he saw the silhouette of something dart back into the woods. BH's concern grew that bit more. After that, everyone just shrugged and walked back to the campground. BH quickly glanced over it's shoulder as he left, unaware to the fact the silhouetted beast was watching them leave, her voice emitting a broken police radio. Her second head just twitched every so often. The beast then disappeared into the woods.
The Bass had assembled at the elimination ceremony like always. Chris held the platter like always. Nightmare watched from afar, hidden behind some trees.
"Those of you that are safe", Chris began, "Come received your marshmallow."
...
"Geoff."
...
"Bridgette."
...
"Harold."
...
"Duncan."
...
"Courtney."
...
"Milky Way."
...
Andromeda held a neutral expression while Sadie looked scared out of her wits. "The final marshmallow goes to..."
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
...
"Andromeda."
At this, Sadie shot up. "You know what, fine! It's not like I need you guys!" She snarled. She stormed off to the dock, fighting back tears, only to squeal with joy when she saw Katie on the Boat of Losers waiting for her. The Bass made their leave to the cabins, exhausted cause of today's challenge. As they left, Chris made his leave only to feel something breathing down his neck. He quickly turned around, only to be greeted with nothing. He darted his eyes around nervously, only to shrug and continue walking to his cabin. From the shadows, Nightmare revealed himself, laughing quietly to himself. He walked back into the woods, where several sets of glowing eyes were waiting for him. The eyes vanished as Nightmare entered the darkness.
Tomorrow, the campers worst nightmare will come true.
They are at the mercy of the master of fear.
And so Nightmare puts his plan into action tomorrow...
