Crossing The Line

Clark woke up to Diana still in his arms. He smiled and buried his face into her soft hair, kissing the back of her head. Diana groaned softly, snuggling more into him and holding onto his arm tighter. Clark was quite surprised by Diana's actions, however it could only be because she is sleeping and being incoherent, she doesn't know what she is doing. Though, he couldn't help but to enjoy this closeness with her.

"Kal?"

His heart jumped opening his eyes. He stayed still waiting for what she would do or say next.

"Are you awake?"

He hesitated to answer. "Um...yeah..."

"My dream...it was so beautiful at first. The world accepted who we are and trusted us wholeheartedly to protect the innocent and bring peace. You and I were so happy. But then, everything changed. Cruel reality of it all to where we are now."

"Diana..."

"We've already dealt with this even going so far the league getting involved. I don't want your job...being Clark Kent be affected by this infatuation Welman has for me."

"Diana, turn around and look at me."

She turned to him, her cerulean eyes piece into his ocean blue.

"I made that mistake once. I'm not going to do it again. You and our truth is far more important than trying to hide and protect a lie. It was selfish of me and I'm sorry. Things will get better. I pro-"

Diana placed her finger over his lips and shook her head slightly. "No promises. Whatever the path fate takes, we must accept."

Clark looked at her a bit bewildered. Diana got up from the bed, going to the bathroom for her morning shower. Clark sighed and turned to lay on his back, looking up at the ceiling.

He then held up his hand looking at his ring.

"I promise you, Diana," he said to himself.

Clark finally got out of bed and made the bed before leaving out to get himself ready for the day and start breakfast.

40 minutes later...

Diana was making her morning tea as Clark was cooking breakfast. She sighed as she was slowly stirring the sugar.

"Hey..." Clark took her hand and pulled her into an embrace.

Diana couldn't help but to relax in his strong arms and embrace him back.

He kissed for forehead and cheek as he pulled back slightly.

"I'm right here with you."

Diana nodded and smiled.

"Here...made your favorite."

"You always make my favorite."

"Extra mushrooms and spinach," he smiled and winked.

"Thank you. It's quite a joy to have my own personal chef that knows my every liking and disliking."

"At your service always, Mrs..." he paused.

"Mrs. Kent? I am a married woman after all."

They both smiled at each other.

"I plan on talking to Lois. I have to get through to her with whatever deal she is trying to make with Martin."

"Kal, I don't want anymore animosity between you two and it being caused by me."

"No, Di. You didn't do anything. Lois is thinking of nothing more than some big headline like she always does. It's based on nothing but lies and personal bias. I'm not about to let that ruin your reputation."

"You are so concerned about my reputation, but what about yours?"

"I'm still doing my job both as a reporter and your husband."

Diana's heart fluttered.

Her phone then started to ring.

"Oh, that's Etta."

"Good Morning, Etta!" Diana said answering and putting it on speaker.

"Good Morning, Diana! I hope I didn't wake you."

"Oh, no...I'm just having breakfast with Kal."

"Oh, lovely. Sweet love birds!"

Clark and Diana glanced up at each other.

"Well I won't keep you long. I just wanted to let you know Martin Welman's files and data have been completely erased off the data server."

"What?! How could that be?"

"That's what we are trying to figure out. But don't worry, Diana...we will figure it all out. Welman will be exposed. I will let you know if there is anything else we find out."

"Ok...thank you, Etta. Please be careful."

"You, too, Diana."

Kal placed his hand over Diana's. "We'll get him."

Diana smiled. "Thank you, Kal." She squeezed his hand. "I have to get going to the Embassy."

"Right. I got to get going too." Clark leaned over and kissed her cheek. "Call me if you need anything, okay?"

Diana kissed his cheek back. "Okay."

2 and half hours later...Daily Planet

"Clarkie! Clarkie!" Cat called.

"Hey, Cat! Where you been?"

"Oh, you miss me?! Do I have to tell Mrs. Kent, you are worried about another woman?" She teased.

"Funny. Real funny. I'm just asking."

Cat laughed and hit his arm. "I know! I know! The only woman on your mind is that gorgeous wife of yours."

Clark couldn't help but smile.

"Oohhh! I knew it! You are so in L-O-V-E! I hope you two will be at my birthday soirée?"

"Of course, Cat."

"Great! I'm so excited! I have so much more planning! Also, have you seen, Jimmy? I hadn't seen him all day. Actually, Lane isn't here either."

"They're on an assignment."

One that Clark was even curious of.

"Oh...well..I'll see him later then. Ciao, Clarkie, I have other things to do! Need to talk to Perry first."

Clark's cellphone then started to ring.

"Tiff?! What's up?"

"I have a little something something for you and Diana."

"Tiff..."

"It's nothing too out there as my usual. It's perfect for you two. Think of it as a wedding gift. Now it's not complete because I wanted your input on a few things."

"Have you talked to Diana."

"No, just you for obvious reasons."

"Ah..." Clark smiled. "I'm on my way then."

Meanwhile...The Embassy

"Thank you so much, Jaime! This is wonderful! I'm so excited for the Parents and children dance! This is what's needed."

"I couldn't agree more Mrs. Kent!"

Diana's heart skipped a beat and blushed being called Mrs. Kent.

"Im very excited to meet Mr. Kent, by the way. He isn't like other reporters. I've read his articles. He is very passionate about advocating for world changes and exposing some very scandalous crooked businesses and suits. You know the way he writes, it's kind of like something Superman would say."

Diana smiled proudly. "Yes. He he is very much an advocate for awareness. He loves helping children and anyone in need...even volunteers at times at the local recreation center in Metropolis."

"Wow, Diana. You clearly have your own Superman and I'm sure he thinks of you as Wonder Woman."

Diana smiled again. "Yes, he is my Superman."

Atlanta, Georgia...Club Odyssey

"Clark! My sexy Superman!" Tiffany said as she ran up to him and hugged.

"Glad to see you too, Tiff!"

"I'm so excited! I hope you like it!"

"I'm sure I will!" Clark smiled reassuringly.

He followed her up the stairs.

"Okay, so...y'all are already hooked up with the VIP room. But I know how inconvenient it is for you two to come through the front entrance. Especially if there's some kind of emergency. So..." They walked into the VIP room. There was a new door. "This leads to the grand gift!"

She opened the door and there was more stairs which lead to the rooftop deck.

"And here we are!"

"Wow...this looks amazing!"

"Gorgeous view of the city, very private, table for an intimate dinner and here, large sofa for...you know...lounging and such."

Clark quirked his brow. "Diana and I are not doing that here..."

"Oh, come on! Like I said it's private. It's fun and I want super nieces and nephews!"

Clark chuckled. "We have to get over this trial first. I um..." Clark sighed. "I overheard her talking to her mom. Diana doesn't believe having kids with me, at least, is possible anymore."

"Clark, y'all have been through so much hell. When y'all broke up, it was like a grey cloud over us all. Nothing seemed right. You both seemed so angry with each other."

"I wasn't angry with Diana. I can never be. I was angry with myself."

"And that's how she felt. She loves you and you love her. At that time, of course that life both of you have talked about wanting seemed impossible. But now, the door is wide open. It will take time but I know, both of you will get through it. You two never gave up on me when I was in a coma after that pile up. Right there with me as my guardian angels. I don't have powers or anything but I'll do all that I can anyway to help the two people that have changed my life for the better."

"Thank you, Tiffany. That really means a lot. I do love Diana. Very much in love with her."

"Then let's get to getting it, finishing this on up!"

Embassy

Diana sighed looking over documents about Welman Victor and Bruce ap had given her. It wasn't exactly giving her anything she thought was quite useful for them to get ahead of whatever his plans were and find him.

"Marriage actually is working quite well for you, Cousin."

She looked up with a raised brow. "I don't know, Eros. Having someone coming after me, the man I love and my friends isn't what I would call working quite well."

He appeared with a grin. ""The man you love...So you finally accept your hearts true desire. The Kryptonian is the most suitable mate. Why not take the next step in your heart?"

"No...we're not ready. My feelings for Kal have never been denied. Of course I love him. That's why it was so hard for me to end what we had."

"Are you sure? You were quite comfortable in his arm in bed together and I'm certain he loves you too. "

"Eros, that's not-"

"Do you really think it was a coincidence for you two to walk into some intergalactic being's shop so easily? Diana, you of all should know everyone is watched over by higher powers."

"Watching over and intervening are two different things."

"Yes, well, sometimes things need a little push. The stalling, the diversions...things need to start moving along. Rightful heirs of Olympus and.."

"Heirs?! Oh Olympus?! Eros, that's not where we are...and even if we were, our children would not be raised on Olympus."

"You were once and will be again."

Diana shook her head.

"I know what you truly feel, Diana. You can try to deny all you want but that dream of yours is as much the dream of the Kryptonian. That is what those rings mean."

"Eros..."

"It's better you two get through this, this way than my idea of using these beauties," he smiled holding up his guns. "A golden bullet, one the kryptonian can't stop."

"No, Eros. The choices we make within this trial is our truth. If it is to be, than it shall be."

Eros smirked. "Then it shall, Cousin."

Eros disappeared leaving Diana stunned.

She looked down at her ring and sighed.

"A baby...our baby..." Diana shook her head then smiled Picturing her and Kal happy with their baby...or babies. "Maybe."

"Diana? Come in. Diana?" Victor came through on her communicator.

"I'm here, Victor. What is it?"

"We got a lock on something in a warehouse in Wyoming."

"Wyoming?"

"Yeah. It's been abandoned for years. Superman, Batman and Flash are already on there way."

"Alright. I'm on my way."

Abandoned Warehouse

"Ah, man, even in daylight, this looks extremely spooky," Flash said.

"Superman, is there anything?" Batman asked.

"I'm hearing at least 7 heartbeats and-" he paused and turned seeing Diana flying down towards them.

"Victor contacted me," she said seeing the worried look on Kal's face. "I have to be here."

Kal sighed and nodded slightly. He opened the door.

"Oh what the hell?!"

7 people were hanging by their arms to the ceiling. They all had a few stitches on their faces, arms and legs.

"They're all still alive."

"Flash!" Batman said throwing a batarang at the strings.

"On it."

Flash caught every victim and laid them gently on the ground.

"Who the hell did this?"

"Hm..." Batman examined one of the victims. "This was done professionally."

"Professional?" Wonder Woman questioned.

"The incision patterns are too precise," Batman said.

"It's like a code, message or signature."

"I've seen this before," Flash said. He think quickly turned around. "Batman look out!"

Batman jumped out of the way as a surgery knife was flying towards him.

"Dr. Amar!" Flash said.

Dr. Michael Amar, once a respected surgeon, had a psychotic break and started a killing spree to stop the voices in his head. Amar was moved convicted and sentenced to death. But it was soon discovered that Amar's blood was so abnormal that lethal injection could not kill him. Later, in the is a maximum security correctional facility, Iron Heights, Amar cut out his own tongue and sewed his mouth shut, becoming the killer known as Murmur.

"He's fast?" Superman questioned.

"Seems like some kind of enhancement," Batman said.

"I got him."

Flash had caught up with him but as soon as Flash was about to grab him, Murmur, turned to his surprise and stabbed him in his shoulder.

"Ah!"

"Flash!"

Wonder Woman and Superman quickly flew flew after him.

Wonder Woman used her lasso, his right ankle getting caught making him fall.

Superman quickly tried to grab him but Murmur turned stabbing him in his side.

"Superman!"

"It's...laced with...some kind of...magic..."

As Murmur yanked out his knife about to stab him again. Wonder Woman dashed toward them and blocked his attack. Murmur kicked her then quickly jumped on top of her.

"Oh, no you don't...!"

Superman used his heat vision to melt the knife. While he was distracted, Wonder Woman head budded him. His grip on her loosened and she managed to punch him in the face then kicked him off of her.

Upon him falling, a small vial fell out of his pocket.

"Hold him down," Superman said. "Flash!"

Flash quickly got a steel beam and Superman wrapped it around MurMur.

"Well can't get anything out of him."

Batman picked up the vial. "I'm taking MurMur to Arkham and getting this tested. The vial will tell us all we need to know. Ambulance are already on their way to take care of them."

Batman the suddenly vanished.

"Why does he always have to do that?!"

"It's for dramatics, Flash," Superman joked. "Ah..."

"Kal..." Diana held him up.

"Just a trip to the fortress after we get the victims to the ambulance."

"Don't worry about me, guys! I'm fine too!" Barry said sarcastically and laughed.

"Sorry, Barry."

"I'm just kidding. But I am glad you two are back to normal."

Diana frowned confused. "What do you mean?"

"Hated seeing you guys mad at each other and arguing. This marriage thing as weird as it is, it's a good thing. You deserve happiness and we all see it between the two of you together."

"Thanks, Barry, for your support," Clark said.

"I don't mean to be all sappy but after marrying Iris, I just want all my friends happy."

After the ambulance left, Barry headed back to the Tower while Clark and Diana headed to the Fortress.

Fortress of Solitude

"Rawf! Rawf! Rawf!"

They heard as they flew in.

"Rawf!"

Krypto excitedly ran fast toward Diana.

"Krypto, no! Sit! No!" Kal yelled.

But Krypto wasn't listening and jumped to Diana making then fall backwards. Kal winced.

Diana gasped. "Kal!"

"I'm...I'm alright."

"Oh, Krypto!" Diana laughed. "I'm so happy to see you too, you big puppy!" She tried sitting up. "Kal is wounded. I need to tend to him."

Krypto whimpered and whined.

"Geez, thanks for your concern, you big snowball."

Diana giggled. "Come now, Kal."

She helped him up and they floated to the lab.

Kal laid on the table for the examination.

"Just press-"

"I remember, Kal. Just be still."

He smirked and closed his eyes.

Diana smiled and blushed as his suit degenerated leaving him in only his boxer briefs. The man had the body of a God sculpted by Apollo.

She remembered the first time seeing him shirtless. The way her body reacted was such a surprise to her. She had never felt that before and was quite surprised. She remembered the first time he held her in his arms. So warm, strong yet gently. The first time they laid naked together, making love. Beyond magical. Gods, how she wished that could be once more. Maybe it truly can.

"Analyzation Complete."

"The wound wasn't too deep, thank the Gods. You are healing already. Just need to be bandaged.

Kal sat up and sighed.

"What's wrong?"

"Nothing..."

Diana raised her brow then walked over to get the bandages. As she bent over Kal couldn't help but stare at her. Diana felt the heat of his stare and look back at him. Though Kal quickly looked away.

She smirked walking back over to him. "So about what Barry said...?"

"He's right."

Diana titled her head wanting him to continue as she placed the bandage gently over his wound.

"Diana, you are my best friend. Arguing over basically nothing isn't us. I do want us happy. What will make me happy is you being happy. Whether or not I'm part of that...I want to be but if it's not meant for me to, that's okay because whatever or whoever makes you happy is all that matters."

"Kal, you are part of my happiness. It was a mistake for us to point our anger toward each other. I expected this marriage trial to take an even harder toll on us because-" she paused for a moment.

"Because it felt like it was digging more into the wound of what we once were looking forward to."

Diana looked down and nodded slowly.

"Diana...I don't know what will happen when this ends but I don't want us going backwards. I want us to continue in this better place."

She smiled and leaned over to kiss his cheek. She pulled back slightly, their faces only centimeters apart.

Kal was stunned. He had to hold back his body from reacting especially still only being in his boxer briefs.

"Should we go back to Metropolis or stay here for the night?"

"I'm sure Krypto wants us to stay. So we can for a little while longer then head back, grab something for dinner."

"Alright." Diana patted Krypto's head. "Come along, Krypto."

Kal got up and his suit regenerated. He shook his head and smiled. It was so natural for Diana to be here. He remembered those time when she wore one of his shirts, her robe, or nothing at all around. He meant what he said. He wants Diana happy. He wants to be the one to make her happy. He was damn sure determined to do so. But if after all of this, it isn't meant to be. He wants nothing but the best for her.

"Kal?"

"Oh...uh...yeah, Di?"

She smiled. "You need rest. Krypto will try to take up the entire bed," she giggled.

Kal laughed. "He should know better. His spot is at the foot while ours-" he stopped abruptly.

"Ours is in the center...or I'll take up the bed too," she teased.

"Race you?"

"Kal-El, you're injured. It wouldn't be fair."

"Diana, you know I can do a lot even injured."

She smiled and blushed. "Yes...yes, I do know." She bit her lip as her mind drifted for a moment. She floated over to him and took his hand. "No racing. Let's just go together."

Floating off to the bedroom, Diana's heart skipped a beat. She hadn't been in the room in so long. More memories and feelings came rushing back.

Krypto was already laying at the foot of the bed with something familiar to Diana.

She tilted her head. "My scarf? Oh, goodness!"

"I told you, he missed you."

"Awe, Krypto...I missed you, too!"

"Did you want to change?"

"Oh...yes."

Kal's suit degenerated again as he went over the the drawer to grab a shirt.

"I know I've said this a thousand times, but I'm just so amazed by how you've made this so comfortable. Its everything and more here."

"I thought that if I ever had to get out of the city, I'd make this the place for me to live in. I wanted a home away from home. With it being called the Fortress of Solitude, it's I'm saying it's a more sophisticated way of saying man cave but it's not that. It does feel like a home."

"I know now definitely isn't the right time but my hope and wish is that one day you can share some of this with the world. Let them know of your findings that can change the world for the better."

"One day, Di, for sure."

They laid on the bed together, Kal on his back while Diana on her side with her head propped in her hand.

Krypto whimpered and moved between them wanting Diana to pet him.

Kal frowned. "Really?"

Diana laughed. "Oh, Kal, leave him be. I miss him just as much."

"You spoil him."

"Yes, well, he's just too adorable. I can't resist."

Krypto rolled on his back and stretched wanting Diana to rub his belly.

Diana bursted out laughing seeing Kal's expression.

"Both of you are adorable."

"Diana, this isn't adorable at all."

She laughed again.

"I'm glad to hear you laugh though, Di. Things will get better. I want you to know that."

"I know. I trust you, Kal."

Undisclosed location

"Hmm...the experiment with MurMur was not to my satisfactory. She is much stronger than I expected," Dr. Isabel Maru, also known as Dr. Poison said.

Doctor Psycho smirked. "She's much stronger physically being the King of the Gods daughter but her weakness...her weakness is Clark Kent."

"Superman?"

"I've already been in communication with his colleagues. Lois Lane will help us take him down," Martin said. "Once we have Wonder Woman and Superman under our control. All the others will fall in line. The entire Justice League will be ours. Then on to our next plans of every official at our feet."

"Correction Mortal. All of you will be at my mercy."

"Who the hell are you?"

"I am Adjudicator. I will be the judge and executioner of not only the Amazon's life but of this pathetic world."

The being known as the Adjudicator belongs to an unknown but massively powerful alien race. Deemed insane by his peers, his overseers gave him a starship and permission to play with worlds they didn't care for, on the condition that he never bothered them or thought about them again. He spent eons visiting worlds, judging their civilizations' level of development, and obliterating them when found wanting. Throughout that time, he ended forgetting about his overseers and deluded himself into thinking he was a judge of worlds.

2 days later... Embassy

Diana couldn't stop smiling to herself thinking of Kal.

2 nights ago, they had decided to stay at the fortress for the rest of that night with Krypto but early the next morning went back to Clark's apartment.

Although still recovering from his wound, he made sure to have breakfast and dinner ready for her. They even watched movies together, taking them back to those moments they had missed so much. Whether it was falling asleep on the couch or in bed, being in each other's arms again, felt so right. They were both even so much more comfortable with Diana wearing just his t-shirt and underwear and Kal in his boxers. She wanted so badly to take the next step but her heart and mind were still in a constant battle.

"Excuse me, Diana?" Gwen said standing at her door.

"Yes, Gwen?"

"You have a visitor."

"Oh? Who is it?"

"Ms. Lane from the Daily Planet."

"Oh? Send her in."

Gwen turned and nodded.

Lois walked in with her arms folded across her chest and a slight glare.

The sudden thick tension was quite obvious even for Gwen.

"So...um. I'll hold all calls?"

"Yes, please. But with Senator MaClary, tell him we will be moving forward with the plans."

Gwen smiled. "Great!"

Gwen glanced at Lois, who had her eye brow raised looking around Diana's office, and slightly frowned before closing the door.

"Lois...please have a seat."

Lois still hadn't said anything but her demeanor and expression had said so much already. She sat down and crossed her legs.

"What brings you all the way here, Ms. Lane?"

"Well Diana, when I'm following a story to get to the absolute truth, I make sure to be thorough. Even if it does mean over night flights."

"And the story that you are following has led you here?"

"Listen, Diana, I think we've had enough of playing coy. Let's have a real talk...woman to woman. You and Clark are married. I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time believing it. You don't even have any pictures of him anywhere. Is this a real marriage or is it based on something political? Clark is very secretive. He plays the nice guy but there's something about him. I don't know. I just wouldn't think he is your type."

"I see. Well, Lois. I don't believe having pictures all over my office would make a difference. You want the truth, fine. Everything on record. Clark is a very private man and I've learned to not only understand but appreciate that. He is a respectable, honorable, trustworthy and honest man. We have nothing to hide but our life is ours. It's private as it should be. Lois, I understand that you and Clark were involved and-"

"Let me set that straight. I wouldn't call cheap take out an involvement. I felt sorry for your husband. Thought that he needed a little boost of something. Talk around the office of him being a loner. We all felt pity for him. If I had known he was just moping around because he was missing his ex now wife, I wouldn't have given any time nor concern."

"I believe that instead of office talk, really getting to know him out the kindness of your heart would've been better than wasting your time on assumptions. I'm sure you don't want to waste your time now. So let me tell you now, I understand you here because of things told or implied by Martin Welman. The answers and information you thought you would get isn't here. Clark and I take our jobs seriously and maybe a bit too seriously as to why we had difficulties and went our separate ways the first time. Relationships have their ups and downs. We are still learning that. Though, we know how to keep things professional not be lead by conflict of interest." She raised her brow. "So Ms. Lane, is there anything else you would like to know? Preferably something far more important than tabloid gossip."

Lois just stared at Diana speechless realizing she had met her match. Ambassador Diana Prince wasn't one to try to intimidate as she thought she could.
