It had been at least a week now since Casey had gotten the job. It paid good, well, considering the boss seemed to sneak her a few extra dollars thinking she wouldn't notice. But she most certainly did, she wondered why he treated her a bit differently from the other waitresses who worked beside her. Odd, she thought, but what did she know she was a bit odd herself at times.
She'd talk to herself at times, no that wasn't helping, she thought. I don't want to go senseless now, I've only been here for a week, don't go losing your mind now.
Casey leaned over the tables as she cleaned them all with spray, and wiped each one down. The rush was just missed leaving the time to be around three o'clock. The city of Philadelphia was always a busy one people coming and going. Storming in and out of massive buildings, eating at simple and grand restaurants to fill an empty belly. Cars racing down the streets as people crossed at the crosswalks in a rush. Everyone always had to be somewhere important it seemed.
Casey looked out the window to stare at all this intense scenery. She looked back down at the table at hand once more as she resumed.
Sawyer had the meat rest over the searing stove top. Smoke escaped it thick juices as he pressed it down into the heat. He looked at up out the window of the kitchen to get a glimpse of Casey doing her job in the light. He was glad she was doing her job and not slacking off like his last hires. He made a slight smile at her back facing him.
Suddenly she bent over the table trying to reach a spot. Sawyers eyes widen but quickly averted his eyes back down to the hot food.
"Take it easy their cowboy." He murmured to himself as he cleared his throat harshly. He quickly handed over the spatula to his other worker as they took over to cooking now.
He took off his apron carelessly tossing it to the side.
"I'm going on smoke break." He announced to the man.
"Hey I'll come with! I got some stuff!" A young teen male said aloud after his boss.
"Better keep ya grass in ya pocket boy. I said don't be bring that shit in here." He hollered heading out the back door bothered. The kid just stood there dumbfounded with his mouth open.
"So… I can't come with?!"
The time had now reached five o'clock, people still came in and out. Casey worked harder then ever but she knew she could do it. She moved behind the counter and filled up a few drinks.
"So." A familiar southern voice came into play. "You've been working here at least a week now." He stopped. Casey could roll her eyes as she turned to face the smug faced man. He looked like a little girl with his hands on his cheeks and his elbows planted on the kitchen window sill.
"And?" She asked waiting for the rest of his statement.
"Sucks don't it." He snickered. This time she did roll her eyes as she walked away with the drinks, but she did have to agree with him. Sawyer just followed her with his eyes but soon went outside the kitchen to the people as well.
"I bet ya there's a million other things ya rather be doin right bout now." He said aloud getting her slight attention but went back to taking peoples orders.
"Let me guess." He walked near her as he pondered. "Let's see." He muttered.
"Oh, I much rather be out getting my hair and nails done." He mocked in a girly voice. "And hang out with Tod."
Casey suddenly turned towards him, making him jump slightly out of place.
"W-wait what? Who's Tod- Uh nevermind." He shocked her head not seeing Sawyer boyish smirk. "I need another burger with fries, one with no cheese and just lettuce and tomato, and go easy on the butter, just oil, they requested." She read, handing the paper over to him.
Sawyer looked over Casey and to the woman who ordered the food with a thick brow raised. The woman was overweight as she sat in the booth with a few others.
"What'd she on a diet." He said looking down at her with disgust and humor mixed together. Casey gave him a look. So, this must be the Sawyer that was mostly a bully to others, she thought. She wasn't too fond of it.
"Really?" She questioned annoyed. She started to walk back behind the counter again. "Was that really necessary."
Sawyer followed her as he seated himself on the roll swivel chair.
"What? The fat jokes?" He asked taking a cup from the counter top into his hand.
"Why do you do that?"
"Do what?" He asked with a grin. She felt like she was talking to a child at this point. She looked away irritated getting back to filling and mixing drinks. She just shook her head and snatched the cup from his hand.
"Wa? Oh, come on that was funny." He hissed a funny whisper.
"She's a paying customer." She looked at him." Paying your bills." Casey huffed. "She shouldn't be judged because of her request on the food she'd ordered." She said sternly.
"Well, I think she might've eaten too much." He murmured swiveling in his chair like a little kid facing the woman with a stupid face on him.
Casey just stared daggers at him and stopped what she was doing completely as she waited for him to turn back around. Soon he did catch her harden eyes on his amusing ones.
"Oh god." He muttered. "I'm in trouble, aren't I?" He said like a teen in the detention's office. Which she did not doubt he was at all the time back in his days.
Casey just stared at him in repulsion. She thought of those days in high school where she'd be bullied, pick on, maybe because she was different, or she was disliked. Either way she felt like she was on the other side, the side of the bully. Talking about someone behind there back, and now Casey knew that side sadly. She almost felt like she was a part of it, a trader to her own.
"You know, I'm not too fond of bullies, Sawyer." She spat.
"Me?" Placing a hand over his chest in shock. "A bully?"
"Come on now doll face I ain't no bully." He straightened. "I just call it like I see it."
"Exactly. Bully." She took the drinks and when to the table. "Your certainly not a good person at that."
"Oh my lord, ya too soft doll face." He chuckled.
"Stop calling me that." She eyed him heading another table. Sawyer quicky got up and followed her.
"Here you are." She said sweetly to the family handing them the drinks one by one.
"Yes, here are ya go!" Sawyer said aloud making the family look up at the smirking man.
"Hope ya'll are enjoying the festivities." He wiped his hair back easily.
"Better yet, drinks are on the house boys." He said with open arms. They praised him with thanks. Casey took her leave. Sawyer quickly followed.
"See? I ain't so bad." He tried to convince her.
"So, is this supposed to make things better now?" She asked.
"Uh, ya." He said in a serious tone. She only shook her head at him in disappointment. She thought this man was better, better then her uncle she hoped. But she seemed to be the same or at least similar in a way. Casey wasn't too pleased with this at the moment. Apparently, this man was still an immature teen stupid boy inside. Who thinks he's still in high school sadly.
"You have orders to fill." She said tiredly handing the tiny papers to him without bothering to see if he caught them all. She turned on her feet and headed in another area. Sawyer didn't bother to follow her this time; he could feel she need space. He thought it was funny nothing more, that's just how he was, even as a kid. He'd remember those crazy days in school, none stop funniness. Some things just don't die, he thought. Well, for him anyway. He looked down at the papers seeing the burger and fries.
"Great." He murmured. "Now I gotta make another fat one."
Barry walked out the door and locked it from behind quickly. He turned around and saw the real world, what a sight for sore eyes. Indeed, they were pretty sore, he was in the dark for quite a long time. He huffed away the bad thoughts and walked into the cool breeze.
"This is living." He respired in content.
"Now then, let's open up the gates over here, very nice." Barry narrated every little deed he did. The gates were opened and Barry ran to the car happily jumping into the driver's seat.
"Ok." He breathed shutting the car door. "Seatbelts." He reminded himself. Then he put his hands on the wheel. He took a sigh of satisfied finally sitting at the wheel.
He just sat there for a moment.
"What am I doing, I don't even know how to drive." He confessed in an outburst of stupidity.
"Why me." He whined like a dramatic queen as he laid his head back on the patted plastic seat.
"Ew." He picked his head up quickly in disgust. "Really Dennis. He thinks the seat is gonna kill him." He rolled his eyes about the germaphobe.
"Ok!" He shook his hands vigorously. "You can do this Barry." He convinced himself with pure hope. He could most definitely do this!
"I mean, how hard can it be." He smiled.
Horns were honking at Barry for going too slowly down the intersection. Barry struggled with the car like a high school student taking their first driver's test.
"Why is this arrow telling me to go left when I need to go right?!" He struggled aloud, alarmed as he didn't know what was happening. People were trying to get around him as he continued to talk with himself franticly. Barry pulled down the window as he stuck his head out the window confused on where he was going glancing all around like a scared wide-eyed owl.
"Move it idiot!"
"Get out of the road ya dick!"
Barry started to hit the top of the cars dashboard as if expecting something to magically happen.
"What is happening?! I think my car is broken!" He hollered out the window.
"That's not the only thing that's bout to be broken!" Someone yelled from afar in a fury.
Barry continued to turn the knobs and buttons within the car as his anxiety spiked. Horns honking for all directions. Suddenly music was being blasted from a button Barry had push.
He screamed in fright at the unexpected sound of metal music playing.
"Who's been listening to this?!" He questioned hysterically.
"Awe man I love this song!"
"Hedwig?!" He shouted in disbelief. "Get out of the light this instant! I'm driving!"
"You're not doing a very good job at it, etcetera." He said in an annoying like kid way.
"Well how can I when I don't have full access to the light!?"
"Hey! Do -do they have uhh- KANYE on here?!" He shouted with exciting turning his body away from the wheel making the car rear out the lane instantly.
"Hedwig no!" Barry screamed pulling his body back to the wheel and on the main road as other cars honked loudly at them.
"Asshole!" Someone yelled revving past Barry's car.
"Oh god- sorry!" He waved his hand out the window. "I'm gonna die." He breathed.
"I didn't know you like metal music Barry I thought you like dat jazz…, and all, etcetera." He said unamused.
"Hedwig you shouldn't be here, you need to leave. Now." He said sternly trying to focus on driving.
"Wa-W-what why?! This place to so coooool." He chuckled. "H-hey hey Barry, can I have a hotdog?"
"Oh my god! Not only can I not give you a hotdog, I can't even find a place where there is FOOD!" He emphasized in a frenzy. He felt like this was all too much and he just got in the car.
"Barry you just need to chillax." He said happily.
Barry stuck his head out the window.
"Does anyone know where the food store is?" He hollered with a confused look on his face.
"Figure it out asshole! Move it!" One shouted.
"Barry, I think you're driving too slow."
"What, no I'm not." He said nonchalantly with his head up.
"But dis little thingy here says your goin 10 M. P. H., etcetera" He paused. "What's an M P H? Is that a secret code?!" He said with excitement. "The 'H' must stand for Hedwig." He gasped "That's me, etcetera!"
"Oh my god I can't do this! I'm lost!"
"Here! B-Barry I'll do it!" Suddenly he slammed his foot on the gas petal full force.
"Hedwig no wait!" He tried removing his foot from the gas.
"SEE Barry! Now they ain't botherin us no more!" He smiled. "Etcetera!" His head was all the way back from the force of the car. Barry struggled to get this foot up.
"Damn it, Hedwig you better stop this instant or else!" He warned.
"Or else what?!" He laughed like nothing could stop him.
"I'll tell Miss. Patricia on you!"
Hedwig's eyes went wide as he gasped in fright at the threat Barry laid out on him. He immediately released the gas petal, and Barry took control once again. Barry slammed down on the brakes faster than he ever did before making everyone else behind him fuming once more. Horns honking loudly from behind as everyone braked their cars harshly.
"Oh, come on!" Hedwig whined. "Now we're right back where we started, etcetera."
"Hedwig! You have to go, you've done enough damage today and I am not happy. And I'm sure Dennis won't be happy either if he finds out something has happened to his car-"
"This is Dennis's car?!" He said in fright and curiosity.
"Yes, who'd ya think it was?!" He questioned annoyed. Hedwig took a moment to answer as he thought.
"The presidents?"
Barry could smack him as he had to calm himself at once.
"Hedwig you need to go."
"W-W-what no-no please! I won't do nothin honest, etcetera." He stuttered.
"No." He shook his head.
"Come ooonnn. M-miss Patricia said I could be here with you! Y-Ya Yeah! Etcetera!" He said with a convincing child like smile.
"Oh, really now Hedwig, then why'd you freak when I threaten to TELL Miss. Patricia on you?!" He eyed him in the small mirror. Hedwig was quiet for a moment.
Barry had won.
"OK FINE!" He whined. "I'll be good." He muttered as the now defeated child.
"Yes, you will." He said with victory.
"B-b-but you own that Twix-Bar! A-a-and dat hotdog don't forget bout dat hotdog, etcetera!" He pleaded.
"Leave now and grant me full access to the light and I'll drown you in hotdogs and chocolate. OK!" He yelled frustrated and frazzled.
"AWESOME!" He screamed with joy. "B-bye Barry etcetera!"
Finally, the light was restored to him, thank god, the day has just begun and he thought he might pass out. Suddenly a store could be seen ahead, thank the lord, he thought. Barry took a sigh of relief.
"IS THAT A PUPPY STORE!?"
"HEDWIG!"
The sun was getting lower and lower but it still beamed a bright hue of orange and yellow. It had now come to the end of Casey's shift. She had to admit though she was a bit disappointed having to go back home. Back to her uncle. She took a soft sigh.
Casey put her drinks dish on the countertop and headed towards the back of the kitchen. She quickly went into the bathroom and shut the door. She breathed as she looked in the cracked mirror. She moved her hair to the side seeing she had a bruise on her temple from the fall. It was healing, but rather slowly. Maybe she wasn't eating enough again, she never had a big appetite. Especially after her father passing. She could eat, eat, eat many years ago remember the sweet tastes of pancakes, waffles, trench toast. Now the taste seemed to linger.
Casey did her business in the bathroom and soon opened the door to make her exit.
"Hey."
Casey glanced up seeing Sawyer but went back to the door as she was closing it.
"My shifts over, I'll see you next week." She said removing her small black apron along with the pad and paper. Casey didn't bother to look at the man as she made her way to the front and started to retrieve her things from underneath counter top.
"Where are you off to in such a hurry there?" He asked leaning against the kitchen door frame.
"I'm going out." Casey said plainly trying to put on her jacket. Sawyer took those words into consideration.
"Oooo, out on a date?" He amused. "With Tod." He smirked. She just glanced up at his boyish face in irritation.
"Goodnight." She said making her way out the door. Sawyer quickly followed her though seeing something was wrong, and he felt the need to know what was bothering her. Casey made it out the door with Sawyer not far behind.
"Hey wait." He hollered softly. She turned as he stopped running after her. "What's goin on with you doll face, I thought we were havin a pretty dandy day." He pondered.
"We must have different meanings on 'dandy' days." She spoke. He just looked down on her.
"Look, I- I can't help who I am."
"Yes, I know, you've made that very clear early today." She looked away as she wanted to walk away as well. Sawyer's eyes suddenly widened at what she meant now. She didn't know what he did.
"Listen I-"
"Look I have to go or my Uncle will… worry, about where I am if I'm not home soon." She muttered but loud enough for him to hear over the busy streets.
"Goodnight, Mr. Sawyer." She turned without another word heading to the bus station. He just watched her walk away, he wanted to say something, but now had he changed his mind. There wasn't any point in it. He looked away from her as he gritted his teeth together as he shook his hair out his face and turned back into the diner.
Casey continued her walk but wasn't exactly headed to the bus station. She had headed into a shopping area. Careful to cross the busy street onto the other side. A normal sized supermarket she went inside quickly. She wanted something other than a burger for once. Something to where she didn't actually have to cook it from scratch. She walked down the small isles looking at all the snacks and foods up and down, left to right.
Casey didn't have a craving at the moment, she suddenly just grabbed a bag of Cheetos, she supposed it was something to munch on to pass the time. Soon heading down another isle swiftly as she quickly slowly her pace down. She squinted her eyes a bit at the hatted man. Why did he look so familiar to her? He turned his head ever so slightly Casey just caught a glimpse of the man's ice blue eyes.
Dennis, she thought, he looked so… different. Like more relaxed and he touched things without his gloves now? Maybe this was how he liked to dress when he went out… food shopping.
He held the basket of food through his arm as it rested out dainty like. Casey found that rather odd, considering the way he was the last time she'd seen him.
"Oh god… which one should I get? All these shampoo's look the same." He whined quietly to himself.
"Maybe this one- no, wait, Uhh- this one? Oh, here we go." He picked one up quickly examining it.
"Feminine hygiene." He read confused.
"Dennis?" She walked near him. Barry gasped a fright almost dropping the bottle in his hand. Casey's brows raised at his sudden rigidness. He turned at the girl.
"Oh god you scared me child." He chuckled nervously. That was the first time she'd heard him slightly laugh, but he sounded a bit off to her ears.
"Sorry, I uh, just wanted to come over and say, hi." She said taking another step forward. Barry's eyes suddenly extended as he looked behind himself then back to her.
"Me?" He breathed pointing to his chest surprised.
"Yes you." She smiled a bit.
"Oh." He paused. "Hi." He said quickly. It got quiet for a moment, then Casey spoke up as she eyed the item in his hands.
"You know you pick up a bottle of Vagisil." She said calmy. Barry's eyes widen at the pink bottle in his hand.
"Oh! I see." He quickly put it back with an 'opps' face written over it. Casey could almost laugh at his funny innocent mistake.
"I didn't know you liked Doc Martens." She said glancing down at his boots. Barry suddenly looked at her fully but in a rather bewildered way as he held his basket close to his side.
"D-..do I, know you." Barry asked shaking his hatter head slightly. Casey didn't understand the question at first. It was almost like a stab in the heart. Was she really not that memorable?
"I just-"
"I don't mean to be… rude." He interrupted. "But if you wouldn't mind, I have things… well, to do." He asked nicely as possible. Casey couldn't look at him any longer, her own neighbor even tried to forget about her very existence. She would be lying if she did feel a bit hurt at this.
"Right." She whispered as he turned away from him and took her leave quickly. Barry just watched her walk away until she turned and vanished.
"How odd." He whispered to himself. "Curious."
Casey walked out the store completely forgetting to pay for the item she had in her hand. Thankfully no one had stopped her as she soon crossed the street to the bus station. She left like she had been shot like the heart; she didn't feel good at all. Was it something about her? Was she easily that forgettable? She shook her head seeing the bus come to a stop, she quickly got on it.
Casey seated herself near the window, she just stared out at it. She felt terrible, but at the same time was she really that surprised. She sighed, what a shit day, she thought.
Between Sawyer a bully, and Dennis apparently a rude one. She hated it, no matter how hard she had tried to get a way nothing ever works. Now she had to go back home, she despised calling it that ever since she moved into that wretched place. Casey just continued to stare out at the passing buildings. The bus stopped slowly to drop off and pick up the next group of people. Some stayed and some got off.
Suddenly a woman caught Casey eye sight as she boarded on. It was that same woman from the diner. The one Sawyer made fun of. The woman was about to go sat but Casey felt the need to say something.
"Excuse me, miss?" Casey leaned forward a bit getting the woman's attention. The woman faced her with uncertainty but then altered to an awe.
"Oh, I remember you, didn't ya serve me at that diner early today?" She smiled. Casey could hear a familiar accent from Sawyers.
"Yes." She beamed. "I uh- I just wanted to…, apologize." Casey looking up with a blue face. The bus began to move again. "Oh here, sit." Casey quickly moved her bag onto her lap.
"Oh! Thank you darlin." She took the offer as she seated herself next to Casey with care.
"What was it you were apologizin for dear?" The woman asked curiously.
"Well, I'm actually…, apologizing for." She rested. "Someone else." She exhaled.
"Well, there's no need for that now. If you were meaning the food it was fine, and dandy." Casey looked up at the word she used 'dandy'.
"Yes, right." She breathed. "It's just that a certain 'co-worker' that I work with said some pretty…, foul things, regarding one of our customers." He woman nodded her head understanding completely now.
"Trust me, I know." She said strongly. Casey looked up speedily at her.
"You do?" She asked with shame.
"mm-Hm" She murmured. "Wouldn't be the first time and certainly ain't gonna be the last." She nodded.
"Doesn't it, you know, bother you?" Casey pondered.
"Honey, I've been around much worse if you can believe it." She chortled.
"I do." Casey smiled a tad seeing the woman was already strong as it is. The woman laughed.
"Boys will be boys." She said shaking her head looking forward now. "I suppose that's why he gave me the food for free."
Casey's eyes shot open at her least sentence. She turned to the woman fully.
"What did you say?" Casey asked in disbelief and puzzlement.
"That's why I got my meal for free." She chuckled shortly. "Had he come up to me askin bout my meal and suddenly givin stuff away for free."
"What did he say?"
He walked up to the woman with easy steps. She looked up at the man who towered over her. He took a sigh.
"I just wanted ya to know it's on me." Sawyer paused. "I reckon I've been sayin things I shouldn't be sayin bout a lady."
The woman eyed him for a moment.
"You've been talkin bout my weight." Sawyer heard a familiar accent to his. "It's the first thing you boys always seem to catch aint it?"
Sawyer kept his hands behind his back as he stood tall listening to her speech as he smirked shortly.
"You think ya funny?" The woman asked plainly unamused.
"No ma'am, just another sad fish out his pond."
"You a run away?" She asked.
"Eighteen years and still goin strong." He smirked wiping his hair out his face. "Alabama?" He asked.
"Tennessee." The woman said.
"Ahh, my sworn enemy." He grinned at the different states they once lived in.
"Don't ya miss home?" The woman asked drinking her cup. Sawyer face went a bit serious as the comedy seemed to die out, he didn't want to get into it, certainly not to a stranger he didn't own much to anyways. He was only doing it for one reason and one reason only.
"No ma'am, I'm where I need to be." He said simply. The woman questioned no more.
"Well, tell you what, you can keep ya fat jokes goin, just as long as I got more free food comin my way."
Sawyer cackled at that as he rubbed his nose and pushed his hair back.
"You got it." He grinned.
Casey couldn't believe what she had just heard, he did apologize, but in his own weird way. A very different way that is of course. But an apologize none the less.
"Too bad." She said snapping Casey out her thoughts. "He is one handsome fella." She looked at her way.
"And the smug bastard knows it." She snickered. Casey was happy it wasn't just her who saw the smugness in him. Even if she did just meet him. She was glad she wasn't alone on that. The bus suddenly came to a stop.
"Well, this is me jujube." The woman stood as Casey watched her.
"It was nice makin your acquaintance dear." Casey nodded tiredly. "Don't let it get ya down hun. Boy's only act like a wild stallion when they fancy a mare." She smiled, as took her leave off the bus.
The bus had begun to move once more as she watch the woman walk further and further away until she could see the large woman no more.
"Good to know."
Casey felt better as she laid in her bed. The sun was officially down now. Moving over to her side as she held her phone in her hand. She felt like she was expecting something. She didn't exactly know what though to be honest. She went on her phone over to her messages reading the previous messages from Sawyer about getting in on time. She suddenly stopped and put her phone away on the table. She didn't quick get it, why would Sawyer even care about 'hurting' that woman's feelings. Even though woman didn't take shit from him, she thought amused.
What made the man have a change of his southern heart? Well, she guessed it didn't matter now, it's done and over with anyways.
Some much has happened in one day, but she was thankfully her uncle was passed out asleep on the couch. She still felt hurt though.
Dennis.
What an odd fellow really. He must have problems she thought, or maybe he just didn't care much for her ludicrous conversations, she thought. She wouldn't bother him though, not anymore. It'd be like she'd never even had met him.
She grabbed her headphones and put her music on full blast.
Barry was driving up his driveway slowly as he accidentally knocked over some of the trash cans.
"Opps." He muttered putting the car in park. "Home sweet home." He breathed. "Finally."
He jumped out the car quickly and headed for the trunk. He started grabbing some bags and piled them all together.
"Oh god, too heavy." He whimpered.
"I can help Barry!"
"Hedwig! We have neighbors be quiet!" He shouted a strong whisper at the obnoxious boy.
"Oh ya." He laughed as quietly as he could.
"And I told you to not come into the light. Not until we are 'inside'. Barry emphasized through his white teeth.
"B-but the Hotdog Barry remember?" He complained.
"Yes! I know!" He covered his mouth slightly realizing he himself was being too loud.
"Hypocrite, etcetera."
Barry sighed annoyed as he continued to grab the bags.
"PSST… Barry!" He hissed.
"Yes, Hedwig." He rolled his eyes.
"W-who was dat uh-uh that girl." He asked as quietly as he could.
"What gir-" He paused. "Oh, you mean the one from the store."
Hedwig nodded.
"Well she- hey wait just a moment there little boy, now how on Earth do you know that?"
Hedwig swallowed. "Uhhhh…"
"You never listen." Barry sighed in defeat.
"W-what that's not true, I listen all the time, etcetera!"
"Hmhp." Barry huffed.
"So, uh- about the pretty girl, etcetera." He beamed with excitement for moment. "Is she your girlfriend Barry?"
Barry laughed. "No." He breathed. "And no, I do not know her Hedwig."
"It-it looks like she knows you though, etcetera." He giggled but confused at the same time. "C-can I have her?!"
"Wha- no! You cannot have somebody!"
"But M-Mr. Dennis had a-"
"SHH!" He shushed harshly. "We don't talk about that here." He whispered severely.
"B-but-"
"Hedwig that's enough. I have to get these bags back into the house if you don't mind." He huffed as he picked them up. He headed towards the house's front door.
"And if I don't put everything away correctly, I won't hear the end of it." Thinking back annoyed when Dennis lost it over Barry putting a spoon in the fork drawer. What a mess that day was in Dennis's eyes.
"Can I put the key in?!"
"Shh! Ok-ok fine yes you can put in the key. But that's it!" Barry struggled to pull out the key that laid in one of his pockets.
"Here I'll do it!"
"No Hedwig wait!" The bags drop onto the porch. "Shh! I have to get to it first!"
"Where's the key?" Hedwig started padding down the body all crazy.
"Hedwig would you wait a second!" He rustled quietly but very annoyed like he was baby sitting a child. Apparently, he was.
An old woman walking her dog down the road coming up next to the Hordes house. She heard fidgeting and voices of loud shushes being raised and lower constantly in different tones. She looked over to the man on his front porch struggling as his body squirmed harshly as if he was fighting someone who wasn't there. Which he most certain was but who would know.
"See! Here it is!" Hedwig pushed the key in the little hole pushing the door open with his body.
"WAI-"
The body fellow forward like a rag doll into their house making a loud thud irrupt.
"Owww, that hurt, etcetera."
"Shut up!" Barry crawled on his kneels to the fallen grocery bags on the porch like a child himself. Suddenly seeing the old woman watch them he quickly smiled and waved like a crazy person from being flustered by Hedwig. The woman waved back unsurely at the bizarre man.
"All good here granny." He chuckled nervously throwing the plastic bags into the house.
"Nothin to see now." He crawled back into the house with nervous laughs. He closed the door as softly as possible, he knew they made way too much noise. Considering they were sudden to be kept a secret.
"Barry why are we on the floor, etcetera?"
Barry leaned against the closed front door as he panted like a dog. He was so tired. It was one crazy day for him, it'd been so long since he'd seen some type of light. He was annoyed at Hedwig but at the same time he did enjoy it very much. He grinned.
"Hotdog, etcetera?"
"Yes Hedwig, lets have a Hotdog."
