Lab

"...what happened in the kitchen wasn't my fault..." she said. She had toweled off and brushed her long hair. Still no marks, no bruising on her light skin. She put a tank top on and some shorts and slid her slippers on. She was definitely ready for bed, but since Reiji told her to come see him, sleep will have to wait.

She quietly walked to his lab. She saw the door open, yet he wasn't in there. She tapped on the I door frame. "Reiji? Hello, are you in here?"

Her eyes rolled up to the dark ceiling. She debated a little longer whether she should just stand there or go to bed. "He told me to go to his lab...guess I'll just go in."

Lux was doing as she was told, so he can't be mad at her for that. 'He's going to scold me about the stupid kitchen...I would've cleaned it up once my legs came back...'

She sighed while looking around the room. There was lab equipment on a large table to her right, a large bookcase to her left with plenty of books. No doubt Reiji was intelligent by the looks of this room. She saw a chair, small table and even a few tea sets located in the room. "He drinks...tea? Those cups look pretty expensive..."

The designs on the cups were beautiful. But she knew she shouldn't touch them; her luck she would drop one. She was fascinated by the lab equipment, she examined the beakers on the table. Seeing the vials and the shelves that had bottles full of liquid. "I wonder what he makes? He must be pretty smart to mess with Chemistry."

She picked up a beaker then placed it back down. The shelves with bottles on them made her a little nervous. 'What could possibly be in those...?'

She arched her eyebrow as she picked up one with light blue liquid. There was no smell to it.

She walked to the other end equipment table looking after noticing a large opened book at the other side. It was full of notes. He was making something, but clearly stepped out. She glanced over her shoulder at the doorway. "Still, not here..."

She mumbled as she read what he had written. "It seems, that this particular experiment was a failure, I was unable to accomplish what I anticipated and a small explosion insinuated.."

"Eh, explosion...? Jesus. He even writes so erm, politely..."

Her eyes scanned more pages. She carefully flipped through. Not understanding chemistry, she had no idea what Reiji was trying to do. After flipping to an almost empty page, she noticed similarities with the colored vials and what was written. "Effects...effects of what?" she questioned as she read. There was nothing written yet underneath.

She let out a sigh. "This is like a different language or me...If he isn't here soon I'm leaving..."

Walking back over to the doorway she peered out looking for him. The mansion despite it's occupants was rather quiet, eerily quiet. Luxy was uncomfortable at the empty hallway. She was still learning about them, but she had been addressed that most myths about vampires were wrong.

'Ugh, come on, I'm exhausted.'

She pulled her shorts down a little and walked over to the window. Looking out she could see a courtyard and some stairs. The night sky was clear. Even outside she could feel the quietness. She could see the stars twinkling. She usually would spent a lot of time on her balcony on the nights she didn't sleep. She leaned against the glass, feeling the coldness of it against her face. She slowly closed her eyes, but before she could a door quietly closed. Reiji's reflection was in the window. She turned quickly putting her back into the chest she was leaning over. "Reiji..."

"You're late." he said quickly.

"I've been here for a while...you weren't in here...so I waited. I was about to leave actually," she said curtly.

"I said to be here at 9:30 and you were not. I had another matter to attend to. Subaru broke another wall."

'So that's what all that noise was...' she thought.

He sighed, clearly feeling tired at the upset. "He consistently cannot control his temper, I'm not even sure how many walls have been broken."

He stared at her as if he expected a response.

She began to open her mouth when he interrupted her.

"Look at yourself. What an indecent attire. You can't possibly wonder why the triplets go after you so much...and I don't mean just for your blood," he said.

"Uh, I, I was just going to bed...I didn't think there was really anything wrong with it..." Luxy said. She felt slightly offended. Her wardrobe was all she had when she arrived here. Besides she was comfortable. 'What I wear shouldn't dictate how I'm treated either...' she thought.

"Cover yourself up next time," he commanded.

To appease him, she just nodded. 'The sooner I get done here the better...'

There was silence. She looked around the room trying not to look at Reiji.

'He is nothing like Shu, all though I can see why he may be considered the eldest. He does seem more responsible and with how he talks to me, orders me around...pft, he is so stuffy. Wonder if he even knows what fun is...or just ever take a day off?'

"Uh...you wanted to see me about something right?"

"It would be best for you not to hang around Kanato."

"Eh...you don't even have to tell me...I will do my best not to, " she said quietly. She agreed with him though, since Kanato proved to be a psychopath. He stabbed her over CREPES! Crepes...!

"I cannot say it's an option. Do yourself well to stay away from the others as well, especially that good-for-nothing," he said sternly.

'There he goes, ordering me around. Good for nothing...? Is he talking about Shu...? If I want to be around him I will do it. Besides seems like I'd be safer with him...even if there was no such thing in this mansion...'

She let out a groan at her thought. She hunched forward a little.

"Pardon me, what was that?" Reiji questioned. She straightened herself back up.

"Eh, it was nothing...really," she responded. She averted her gaze. She was starting to get a little annoyed at how long it was taking. She was still exhausted from almost being murdered earlier.

"Hmm, is that so...ahem..." he cleared his throat.

Luxy still stood there, almost frozen. He had yet moved towards her away from the door. But he held his reddish magenta eyes on her frame. She didn't make eye contact still, choosing to gaze at the vials on the table.

"Back to why I asked you to come here, you seem to have no problem making messes. I should've made you clean every inch of that kitchen with a toothbrush. My brothers give me enough problems. You living here does not mean you are allowed to also give me more problems," he said pushing his glasses up.

Lux's gold eyes widened. Her mouth hung slightly at what he said.

"Now wait just a minute! I didn't make the mess! I cleaned up what I made before Kanato came in and destroyed everything!" she yelled. "Not to mention he almost killed me!"

"Did I say you could yell let alone speak servant?" Reiji said. The way he looked at her made her shudder. He called her a servant.

"Servant?! That's not what I am...how rude of you to say such things, Reiji," she said. Her tone had a little anger in it. "He almost killed me..."

Again repeating what she previously said. He clearly didn't hear her the first time, or he just blatantly ignored her

"Again disobeying orders. That mouth of yours is going earn some discipline. I suggest you close it."

His eyes narrowed, they changed from being normal to almost angered.

Luxy pressed her lips together, holding herself back. 'The nerve of him! I'm not a servant...I wasn't brought here to be one...and he just glossed over the fact I was almost KILLED! Is this normal?! Just shrugging off what I said...'

"Regardless if I allow you to speak, I already have plans for you, servant. However do humor me with an apology at least, fufu," Reiji stated touching his hair.

'He laughed a little...he must be messing with me like Ayato did in the closet that time.' she thought. 'But it's worth a try...he isn't like his brothers.'

She took a deep breath. "I apologized for the mess that was made in the kitchen. I was wrong for leaving it in that state. It won't happen again, Reiji...I promise to take care of it myself next time. Oh and I will not interact with Kanato..."

"Yet you were not even able to walk or stand on your own feet without my assistance. Such a useless woman. Such a poor excuse," he said coldly.

"He...he practically killed me and then Laito showed up...what was I...?! It's not a poor excuse." she began feeling upset. "You carried me upstairs and made a bath for me! I wasn't in the right state of mind...so I guess I owe you a thank you."

Reiji hummed. "However Kanato is quite easy to appease with sweets. If you had done so, that whole situation could've been avoided."

"I said I was SORRY, alright."

She refused to BEG for her forgiveness, when it wasn't her fault. 'How was I supposed to know that information about Kanato. At least if there's a next time I could try his suggestion out.'

Reiji tilted his head at her outburst. "And yet I see no gratitude," he said glaring at her.

Luxy could feel anger boiling beneath her skin. Her eyes widened, "I did say thank you. What else could I have done?!"

He raised his eyebrows. "I went out of my way to take care you. I was in the middle of an important experiment...yet you showed yourself to be such a high maintenance servant. Maybe I shouldn't intervene next time. It isn't the first time I've rescued you from Laito."

'...He may be right, but I shouldn't be indebted to him for that. But I can only imagine what Laito would've done to me if Reiji hadn't shown up. Still he has no right to treat me like this. I'm a victim...but they don't care...they like that...they would rather have me terrified. I'm sure they would love to see me cry.' she thought looking at her slippers.

Reiji finally took steps towards. She instinctively took a few steps back until she hit the cold window, whatever it was. Glancing over her shoulder at the ground below, she somehow hope maybe someone would rescue her.

He towered over unlike the others. He had to of been 6 feet tall, his red eyes leered into hers. He was dressed so well, put together, everything about him was almost perfect. It wasn't his uniform this time, but black pants, a white button up and he wore a gray vest. Still that glove on one hand made her curious.

The energy he gave off was making her uneasy. A painful feeling pinged in her stomach.

Still she pressed herself harder against the window. Maybe it would crack. Then out she goes. "I...uh..."

Reiji's eyes looked around his room. He sniffed the air, "Your filthy scent is all over the place. Why is that? Could you not wait outside until I returned?"

'Filthy scent? You're noticing that now? He's just looking for ANY reason to insult me, to come after me...' she thought.

"Well, I was waiting for you. I wasn't sure if I had to wait in the hallway or not...I guess," Luxy said closing her eyes halfway. "I wasn't sure what you wanted."

She titled her head. She tucked a piece of hair behind her ear. She was feeling vulnerable at this point. He could probably easily get rid of her. 'I need to play nice. Maybe he will let me go back to my room.'

"You clearly don't have any respect. Have you not yet learned the position you're in. You've been here for quite a while."

'This is ridiculous! Not fair, that he's going off on me...!' she thought. 'Maintain yourself...'

He stepped away. Her eyes followed him intently as he went over to his lab equipment. He began to examine every piece of glass, along book his notes were in. "Your disgusting hands were touching my equipment. I even see you were going through my book where I keep my notes...your fingerprints are all over my vials, my beakers, they are filthy..."

"My hands aren't disgusting...so mean," she replied quietly.

The glasses wearing vampire looked over his shoulder at her. He held his book in his hands, flipping through the pages. "Hmph, did you find anything interesting?"

Luxy's eyes widened. "Like what? I didn't really read it...I was just bored. You mess with Chemistry. I was curious, I guess. I didn't understand most of it, but I, I am sorry."

'The audacity of this woman touching all my things.' he thought.

Reiji had a habit of pushing up his glasses frequently. "Good grief. Seems you need much more discipline than I thought. Touching items that are clearly not yours. Your apology isn't accepted as well..."

She just shook her head. She didn't know what to say. To her it wasn't a big deal. She didn't break anything; so what's the problem. "I just found it impressive that you can understand Chemistry! I've never seen so much equipment before, I was just very curious. I apologized, can I please go back to my room?"

Reiji didn't move from the table. He flipped one more page, it was to the one he had unfinished notes.

She walked over towards the door in the mean time, hoping he would just let her go. "Well, have a good-"

Luxy fumbled with the door knob. "What...?! Why won't?"

"Oh my, seems like the door is locked. Did I give you permission to leave?"

Reiji pulled that one white glove he always wears off.

Again she attempted to turn the handle. 'Why is it so easy to lock doors in this place, but when I need to unlock them it's a god damn issue?! This makes me feel like such an idiot! Open damn it!'

"I did warn you I had plans for you a little earlier didn't I? Despite those worthless apologies, you will not be allowed to leave until I say so. Now prepare yourself."

He peeled the glove off his right hand, letting it fall to the floor. He turned to her as she was still trying to escaped.

Reiji quickly approached her. He pushed her back against the door. His eyes on fire.

'Oh god.'

*I hope I still did Reiji justice, I'm doing my best with him! Thank you for reading!*
