The next morning, Claire and the other heads of department of Jurassic World were standing in the control room when Masrani came through the elevator. The owner of Jurassic World was actually angry and motioned Vivian to display his conference from the previous day. Vivian typed something and showed Masrani's press conference while another technician put the volume on.
As they all watched the press conference, Claire was increasingly nervous while Valentina was silently crying, both knowing their life in Jurassic World was over. After forty minutes watching the conference, Claire then shyly asked, "Mr. Masrani, I can..."
"No need, Claire. I expected you to be both talented and humane. But after seeing Valentina, you lost your humane side. Means what I said during yesterday's press conference becomes a reality. Wu will be the new operations manager while Dale will be the new Head of Science Department. Hoskins is the Head of Security and reported complaints against you and Valentina from employees, Claire. Owen and others will be either promoted or have a new post." Masrani sternly replied.
"In other words, you're fired." Sage told Claire.
Masrani and the other Department Chiefs, including the teen's father, smiled at the teenager, knowing she had told the truth. Even Masrani smirked at what Sage said. He then gave Claire, who was carrying Valentina, a certificate stating the now-ex park operations was fired and had 48 hours to pack up and leave the park. Definitely.
Claire and Valentina's cheeks were now streamed with tears, as they knew their pleasant life was now over. Once Claire and Valentina went home, Wu went forward and said, "Okay. Back to business. Remember the safety protocols and the ethical codes we have to follow. Reality is like a thesis while the exhibit is the reverse."
With that, Dale went to the lab to relay Wu's instructions while Owen, Cain and Barry went back to work at the Raptor Paddock. Sage then went towards Wu and tapped his shoulder. The new park operations manager turned to the teen.
"Hey, Wu. I got a bad feeling about this." Sage worryingly told him.
"So do I. The first thing Claire's gonna do is to go in a cult or something. Meaning she'll probably brainwash Valentina, since she got the kid for adoption." Wu confirmed.
"Yeah. But did you know Claire's sister Karen Mitchell barely talks to Claire? And did you know Claire's own nephews didn't like her because of her scroogy behavior?" Sage told the new boss.
Masrani, Vivian, Lowery and Wu were surprised, as they did know Claire's family wasn't close to her, but they didn't know the Mitchells didn't talk to their former colleague. Wu, wanting to know more, then decided to venture into the unknown.
"How do you know it?" he asked.
"Well, I have an admirer named Gray Mitchell. In one of his letters, he confessed to me he and his bro didn't recognize her since she came to work there. Gray also wrote me they didn't even see Claire bother to pay them a visit." Sage explained.
With that information, everyone went back to work while Sage went away. The teenager exited the control room before going in Main Street, where she saw everyone was busy with Valentine's Day topics. Sage hated Valentine's Day, as she remembered the second Valentine's Day she spent on the island, back in 2012. Back then, the boy she had a crush on, named Lucas, was nothing more than a huge douchebag, who only talked about nice cars. He never took time to listen to what Sage liked, boring her and causing the two of them to break up after only two months dating.
Since this day, Sage hated Valentine's Day and prefered never to talk about this topic. But her schoolmates were all fond of February 14th and enjoyed watching romantic TV movies while Sage herself watched war movies or the helicopter scene from "Apocalypse Now". The 14-year-old girl also watched The CW's "Supernatural" featuring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki, "Bones" starring David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel or TNT's "The Last Ship" with Eric Dane, Charles Parnell and Adam Baldwin. She hated to read romantic books like other teens and was more into horror movies and Osprey Publishing books.
As she was wandering in Main Street, Sage saw a man who didn't seem to be very happy there. The teenager therefore followed him until she peaked behind a trash container. She saw the mysterious man talking to someone on the phone. Even if there was noise in the background, the teen could hear him say, "Yes, Mr. Morty. I remember what you will do for Quinn. Right, Mr. Morty, I'll track the girl."
Knowing Morty was standing for Renaldo Morty, a mad and power-hungry man who was bent on dominating the world, Sage decided to act of her own accord. She sneaked behind the man and knocked him out after he hung up, causing two park rangers to hear the commotion. Just as security came, Sage then took the man's phone with a handkerchief to avoid leaving her fingerprints on the device.
"Was passing by when I heard him talk to Renaldo Morty on his phone. Bring him to interrogation room." Sage told the security guards, who handcuffed the mysterious man and brought him into the interrogation room. A security guard named Rick took the phone from Sage before going to the control room, knowing they could find something interesting in the memory card or the SIM card. Rick nodded to Sage, letting her know she was now handsfree to interrogate the man.
A few minutes later, the man was now awake and handcuffed to the table of the interrogation room. Just then, Hamada came to face him. The man just smirked, thinking he could fool Hamada. But the ACU leader wasn't an idiot and opened the dialogue.
"So fake ID card, fake passport and fake credit card. Do you have anything real?" Hamada asked on an embarassed voice.
"My ass." the man replied.
Hamada just smirked as he had something the man didn't have, but Hamada just kept the information for himself. The ACU leader then left the room, joining Sage, who had just hung up. The teenager then went to him and said, "Lowery's got the recording of the phone calls. And Vivian told us the guy's real name. Name's Marcus Kingman."
"Good. Now interrogate her." Hamada told Sage.
Sage went in the interrogation room and sat in front of Marcus. Marcus thought he could embarass Sage, but the teenager had another program for him.
"So, Mr. Kingman. Tell me about your life. Name's Sage by the way." Sage introduced herself.
"Yes. Name's Marcus Kingman. I'm from Golden, Colorado. I don't have anyone else in my life minus my daughter Quinn." Marcus told Sage.
"Where's Quinn?" Sage asked him.
"At... At the hospital. She's badly sick." Marcus informed her.
"So we know a little more about you. What do you know about... Renaldo Morty?" Sage finally asked.
"He... He blackmailed me into working for him. If I don't do it, he'll stop healing my daughter." Marcus said wheepingly.
Sage left the interrogation room before heading to the control room. After arriving at the control room, Sage went to Lowery, Hoskins, Masrani, Vivian and Wu. They saw the teenager was smirking and thought something was going on.
"Guys, good news. Marcus Kingman spat everything up. Renaldo Morty hired him by blackmailing him. Morty probably has a henchman posing at the hospital where Marcus' daughter Quinn is." Sage informed everyone.
Lowery typed something and displayed a whole "Wanted" file about Renaldo Morty. The file was very complete, with all the crimes Renaldo Morty commited. Sage then motioned Vivian to inform every person permanently living on the island about Renaldo Morty. Vivian then took a secured phone and pressed a button before saying, "To all employees and employees' children, be advised. We caught someone who told us a dangerous man named Renaldo Morty in the park. Remember, Renaldo Morty is known to be wanted for weapons smuggling, human trafficking, unethical use of genetics and numerous war crimes in Africa and Afghanistan."
Upon hearing Vivian's message, Owen, Cain, Barry, Hamada and the other employees and their children felt their blood boil, as they knew what Renaldo Morty was capable of. But little did Morty know Claire had been fired by Masrani and had therefore brought Valentina with her, which left people on Isla Nublar with an advantage.
They now all knew why Sage had texted she caught someone in an isolated place, which only Sage knew where it was.
