Josefumi locked eyes with the half-bird, half-human as Dark Shadow's body enveloped [Soft and Wet]'s right hand, constricting it. As this happened, the pressure from Dark Shadow's constricting force was enough to break Josefumi's wrist. Blood erupted from Josefumi's wrist as he howled in pain. Then, a second voice came out of nowhere. "Ya like that punk! Your Stand is weaker than me!" The voice said as Josefumi looked around to see where the voice was coming from, only to realize that the voice sounded eerily familiar to Tokoyami, higher in pitch.
"Dark Shadow, we shall not taunt the opponent; it is beneath us." That confirmed it. Dark Shadow was sentient. He smirked, he had an idea, but he had to get into the right position to pull it off. Using its free hand, [Soft and Wet] punched the bird's head in the face, making it dissipate.
"Fool! Haven't you learned a thing! My Dark Shadow is superior to-" He was quickly cut off by [Soft and Wet] grabbing onto his beak. Small cracks began to form on his beak as [Soft and Wet] slammed him down onto the floor with enough force to make him bounce off the concrete.
As he hit the floor, Dark Shadow wrapped itself around Tokoyami to protect him from breaking any bones. However, in the process, Dark Shadow let go of [Soft and Wet]'s hand. Josefumi held onto his wrist whilst looking at Tokoyami with a fiery fury in his eyes. Nobody insulted his Stand and got away with it. "Listen here, punk. I'll make you eat those words and spit them back up with a glob of blood!" Josefumi shouted as [Soft and Wet] punched the floor, removing all the friction with a soap bubble that came out of its knuckles.
Tokoyami slipped on the floor and fell beak first, cracking more of his jaw. He grunted in pain as Dark Shadows arms grabbed onto the support beams to keep Tokoyami on the ground. "I shouldn't have underestimated you. You are a rather strong opponent. But I won't give in, Hero!" Tokoyami shouted as Dark Shadow rushed at Josefumi and his Stand.
Josefumi slid on the floor, grabbing onto one of the adjacent support beams while [Soft and Wet] punched away at Dark Shadow. However, much to Josefumi's chagrin, Dark Shadow had the advantage of being able to disperse and reconverge out of the way of his attacks. 'Damn, he really is strong. But… Tokoyami is the one I need to go after. Defeat him, and I win because then Dark Shadow will be out for the count…' Josefumi thought. However, something came back to him as he looked over at the bomb. His objective was stuck on a support beam right by Tokoyami. 'If I can cause enough chaos over there, dislodge the bomb, and destroy it, I win!' With that thought, he smirked.
[Soft and Wet] grabbed onto Josefumi's upper left arm and swung him towards Tokoyami. For its part, Dark Shadow went to swipe at Josefumi, only to be met with [Soft and Wet]'s barrage of punches to disperse it out of the way. Josefumi was now up close and personal with Tokoyami. "I WILL NOT LET YOU DEFEAT ME!" Tokoyami shouted as Dark Shadow constricted [Soft and Wet] and Josefumi.
"You think I can't beat you by just squeezing you till you run out of oxygen?!" Tokoyami shouted as the constriction was doing its job. "We've beaten you, submit to defeat, and I will let go," Tokoyami said as Josefumi smirked.
"R-really now. D-Don't you see w-what's coming o-our way?" Josefumi said as then, Tokoyami turned his head to see the Paper-macchia bomb come rolling towards them. It had been caught on one of the support beams when the friction had been taken from the floor; however, due to the fighting, it was able to dislodge itself from the beam, and now it was barreling towards them at high speeds.
Before Tokoyami could react, [Soft and Wet] freed its left arm and punched the bomb, destroying a good chunk of it. In the process, the floor's friction returned, and the bomb stopped in its tracks as the friction was now back. Tokoyami couldn't believe it. He had lost to someone with a Stand. "How… my quirk is superior. It has its own thoughts, can talk to me, and is alive. While your stand is nothing but a husk…" Tokoyami muttered as Dark Shadow let go of Josefumi.
Josefumi gasped, breath finally returning to his lungs as he looked at Tokoyami. "It isn't because you have a stronger quirk, but its because I've been training with my Stand since I was 6, thanks to my mom. I have more experience than you, which is why I beat you. Though, I wasn't expecting you to put up as much of a fight as you did. Good match, Tokoyami." Josefumi said, outstretching his hand towards the boy.
Tokoyami smirked, his beak still cracked; however, it wasn't as bad as he originally thought. He accepted Josefumi's hand as they shook in agreement. "Now, let us get Higashikata to heal us; I did a big number on your beak," Josefumi commented as Tokoyami chuffed.
"Yes, you did," Tokoyami said as the speakers came on. They crackled to life as All Might's voice boomed out of the speakers.
"THE BOMB HAS BEEN DESTROYED, THE HEROES WIN!" As All Might said this, Tsuyu woke up on the first floor alongside Ojiro, who was just waking up as well. He heard the words 'Heroes win' and smirked.
"Seems like Josefumi won against Tokoyami. Kero. It's unfortunate. But he seemed like a professional fighter…" Tsuyu said as Ojiro looked at her with a smirk on his face.
"Well, his mother is the number 8 pro hero String. She must've trained him personally. It would explain his confidence." Ojiro said as he sighed. "I just wish I got to prove my worth to All Might. But you did a good job when you took me out. I wasn't expecting it." Ojiro said as Tsuyu nodded. As they talked, Tokoyami and Josefumi walked past them, seemingly immersed in a conversation.
"I think Tokoyami-kun made a friend after the fight," Ojiro said as Tsuyu smiled to herself. Even though his beak hurt, he couldn't help but smirk at Josefumi's jokes. Despite his serious demeanour, he seemed like a funny person.
"You know, my parents were inmates at Dolphin street prison, but they were convicted for crimes they didn't really commit. The reason they were convicted was because of some guy named Pucci. Mom said he nearly ended the world as we knew it if it wasn't for my grandpa, mom and her friends." Josefumi said as Tokoyami huffed.
"Prisoners who did no wrong. That happened a lot back then. Nowadays, only villains get arrested." Tokoyami said as Josefumi shrugged. His outfit was a tad bit ruined, a few rips and tears, but it was nothing his mom couldn't fix with her [Stone Free].
Back in the reviewing room, Yoshihara sat alone, looking at the screen. She had to admit, the way Josefumi fought was interesting. His Stand, [Soft and Wet], was extremely powerful. When the apprehension test happened, she dismissed it almost completely; however, she had to admit that it was powerful after seeing it in action.
The pure brute strength that the stand showed was monstrous. Its user, Josefumi, was also someone not to be trifled with. The boy was a thinker, that much was for sure. He was smart in how he dealt with Fumikage Tokoyami, and with that, she gained a much higher respect for the boy.
However, what interested her the most was that both their Stands were linked. Not in the literal sense, but ability-wise, it held true. They both used bubbles, and those bubbles were tied to their abilities. While [Killer Queen] used its bubbles to cause massive or tiny explosions, [Soft and Wet] used its bubbles to erase something from an object.
However, that wasn't all. There was something… off, about how Josefumi acted. He was more methodical in how he interacted with people in fights. Sure, it was something she didn't expect, but it was also something that made more sense as she thought about it more. After all, he was the grandson of the great Jotaro Kujo.
She looked around the room to see that Josuke was healing those who had participated in the battle. His Stand, [Crazy Diamond], was… also interesting. It looked powerful… too powerful. The ability to heal everyone except oneself was something she didn't think too much about, but the more she thought about it, it mirrored how he treated others. He put others before himself constantly. Perhaps his ability reflected his personality?
She sighed, forgetting about the idea entirely as she closed her eyes to think more about the battle that had just happened.
As the teams came in, Josuke was asked to heal them while All Might waited for them to be in top condition. After what seemed like nearly over 20 minutes, Josuke was finished. To say he wasn't annoyed would be a lie. He watched both Yoshihara and Josefumi have fun battles while he was frozen instantly by Todoroki and his ice. He couldn't say it was unfair, but it was annoying. He made a mental note not to mess with the dichromatic boy.
"All right, everyone! I'd have to say that these battles have been fairly interesting. Everyone has done their best, and that is what I wanted to see. This battle, just like the others, has an MVP; let's see…Young Kira, who was the MVP of the battle?" All Might asked the blonde as Yoshihara sighed.
"The MVP is…" She stopped to think about who she thought the MVP was. It took her a moment, but after a few seconds of thinking, she had her answer. "Tokoyami. If it hadn't been for the bomb getting dislodged from where it was, then he would've won. His quirk had Josefumi's [Soft and Wet] beat at every stop, but because the fighting happened close to the support beam the bomb was stuck on, Josefumi was able to win. Despite the fact he lost, he did the most and adapted to what Josefumi threw at him; that is what makes him the MVP." Yoshihara said as All Might nodded.
"Correct! You are very observant, Young Kira. Now, with that out of the way, IT IS TIME TO LEAVE FOR THE DAY! REMEMBER TO GO BEYOND, PLUS ULTRA!" All Might said as he dashed out of the reviewing room, leaving everyone in the dust, literally. Yoshihara stared in confusion as she giggled at how silly All Might had acted just now. The man was an old coot, but he had a sense of humour.
When All Might left, everyone had decided on their own accord to go to the change-rooms. The boys and the girls went to their own separate ones, each chatting up a storm as they entered the respective changing rooms. The only one who didn't participate in the chatting was Yoshihara, who was silently changing by her locker.
As much as she hated the school's female uniform, she wouldn't lie and say she wasn't relieved to wear something less constricting and less sweaty. Her Hero costume was… annoying, to say the least, when it came to her sweating. It was uncomfortable in times of stress, she would have to address that issue when the time came, but she was content for now.
As she was getting changed, she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned her head around to see half-dressed Ochako looking at her with a concerned expression. "Oh, hey, Uraraka-san. Is something the matter?" Yoshihara inquired as the brunette looked at her with uncertainty.
"Uh… I hate to alarm you, but you have a massive scar on your back. If it is ok for me to ask, how did you get it?" The brunette questioned as Yoshihara took a moment to think. That scar, that damnable scar. She had it since she was 5 years old. Thinking about it pissed her off because that scar was the one thing keeping her from completely moving past her trauma. It was a constant reminder of how her mom and her 'clients abused her.'
Because that scar was given to her by a man who had raped her at a young age. She shivered internally at remembering it. She forgot his name but was glad that she did. She remembered him being around 5'9, with black hair and blue eyes. His skin was fair but scarred, and his body was slim and weak.
He took something away from her that she could never take back, and while her mother was able to pry the man off of her because even she saw it as horrible, the man slashed her in the back with a switchblade, leaving a permanent scar on her upper back. The scar was long and stretched all the way down to the left side of her waist.
The man responsible was jailed for 7 years. She shook her head; she didn't want to think about it. She blamed herself as to why her Stand didn't help her, mostly because she was suppressing it out of fear; however, she also wanted it to help her. He manhandled her for around 2 hours before her mom caught on that he was doing something far worse than she had thought.
She broke out of her train of thought when she heard Ochako's pained cry. She widened her eyes at seeing what was going on. [Killer Queen] had grabbed her by the neck and had lifted her off the ground while the others looking at her with horror. Letting go of her, [Killer Queen] had retreated into Yoshihara's body. She scowled before looking at Ochako with a hint of remorse in her eyes.
"I-I'm sorry…" The blond said, and that was when she realized that she was shaking and that a cloud of black smoke was dripping off her skin. The mention of the scar had caused her to relapse and think that she was in danger. Or at least, that was her conclusion.
She shook her head before seeing everyone's expressions. Somewhere shocked, others were mad, but to Yoshihara, that didn't matter. Throwing on her shirt, she grabbed the rest of her uniform and speedily rushed out of the room, not caring if her skirt wasn't up all the way. As she ran, she fixed herself, forgetting her bag back in the change room; however, that wasn't her concern. What was her concern was getting home and locking herself away in her room.
She was frustrated at herself for letting herself go like that. She just wished that no one had seen her snap like that. As she ran, she pushed past people on the sidewalk; however, she ended up bumping into someone on the way home as she did so. She waited to hit the floor, but she didn't. She opened her eyes to see who she had bumped into.
Standing before her was a man with long pink hair, cerulean eyes, and what seemed to be a fishnet shirt with green pants. Overtop his arms was a red jacket, and he had what seemed to be a purple Berea. "Come on, up ya go." The man said as Yoshihara slowly stood up.
"Watch where ya goin' kid. If I missed ya, you would've knocked yourself into those others behind ya." The man said as he squinted his eyes. "Oh, you're a Yuei student. My son goes to that school. What's ya name?" The man asked as Yoshihara wiped the water out of her eyes.
"K-Kira… Kira Yoshihara." The blond said as the pink-haired man snapped his fingers before smiling at her.
"Right, Josefumi mentioned you being the other Stand user in his class. I'm his father, Narciso Kujo, but please, Narciso is fine. I would love to stick and chat, but I have to pick up my wife and Son. See you around, Kira-san." And with that, Narciso walked off towards Yuei. With her mind now focused, she realized that she had forgotten her backpack back in the change rooms at Yuei.
She huffed, knowing that she'd have to make her way back there and grab her bag. Hopefully, the girls would forget about what had happened there; however, a part of her believed otherwise. She decided to walk back to school so that she could retrieve her bag. When she arrived, she saw her bag left by her locker, with a note on it.
"Odd… what's this." She thought aloud as she walked over to her bag. Picking up the note, she read it aloud since no one else was in the room. "Hey, Kira-chan. I'm sorry if I caused you to remember something traumatic, which would explain what you did back here. If I could speak to you again, that would be nice. The others are a bit mad at you, but I could see the pain in your eyes when I mentioned the scar. If it's something bad, I won't ask about it any further." At the end of the note, it was signed by Ochako.
She sighed. She felt bad about the way she reacted. However, in her defence, she relapsed back to a scared and confused state, so it really wasn't her fault, at least in her opinion. She put the note back into her pocket before taking her bag and slinging it over her shoulder. She made a mad dash outside the building and ran like the wind to her house.
When she got there, the front door was already unlocked, and when she stepped inside, she saw Mitsuki sitting on the couch, watching TV as Katsuki did his homework. "Oh, Yoshihara, you're home a little later than usual. Everything alright?" Mitsuki asked as Yoshihara grimaced.
"Yeah… just… yeah nevermind," Yoshihara said as she dropped her bag at the doorstep and walked up to her room, leaving Mitsuki with a concerned expression on her face. She glanced back at Katsuki, who just shrugged.
As Yoshihara entered her room, she closed her eyes as she sat on her bed. Biting her lower lip, she held back tears. She could hear her voice in her head.
"Failure!"
'Shut up.'
"You stupid fucking wench!"
'No, I'm not.'
"Get the fuck back in there; Mommy's busy."
'You're not my mom. Your just Yumeno Akihiro.'
"I hope you die in a fucking ditch, alone, with no one to care about you."
'…'
"Mr. Yoshikage, will I ever see you again?"
"I'm afraid not, it was nice meeting you, have a good life."
It dawned on Yoshihara that her life only got better when he showed up… When Yoshikage Kira showed up. The serial killer, the man who ruined lives, saved hers. It was backwards, sure, but to her, in a sick and twisted sense of justice, Yoshikage saved her life. He was the one to ultimately rid of that horrible woman, the person she used to call 'mother.' When she really didn't deserve to be called that.
That was when she saw him sitting beside her, an arm wrapped around her shoulder. Normally, she would've rejected him, but seeing Yoshikage sitting there, looking at her with a sympathetic stare, made her feel… happy.
"T-thank you… Dad…" She muttered as Yoshikage couldn't help but smile.
"You're welcome, Yoshihara." The ghostly father said as he stood up. "Are you better now?" He asked her as Yoshihara wiped a tear from her eye before nodding. But was she really? She didn't know. After everything that happened to her, she didn't know if she really was okay.
She could never be ok… not after that… incident.
-Flashback (Trigger-warning, molestation/rape)-
She was shivering, backed into a corner like a stray cat being hounded by a feral dog. A man with greasy black hair and dark blue eyes stared at her. His scrawny body overshadowing her own as a wry smile came upon his face. She was barely wearing anything, aside from an off-colour blouse and underwear. The man looked at her with the same look a client would give her mom.
She couldn't summon [Killer Queen] to protect her; she was too scared to do anything. It had to have been the man's quirk or something along those lines. However, she could feel it clawing at her soul, that much she did know. It wanted out; it knew this man was a threat, so why couldn't she attack him with [Killer Queen]?
Then, it happened. He grabbed her by her 'no-no square.' as they called it in school. She hated it when mom's friends did that. However, this was far worse than normal. He was, doing stuff to it that she didn't quite fully understand, and she was getting extremely shaky.
He continued to do this for a while, and it didn't stop until the man then pulled something out of his pocket. She closed her eyes, not knowing what it was, but as she did, she felt something touch her 'no, no square' again, but this time, it was different.
Ignoring it, she began to think about her friends. Something different to distract herself from whatever the man was doing. It was enough to force herself to not think about it, but when she felt pain, her eyes shot wide open as she saw what had happened.
She was now naked, and she was lying on the floor, her chest to the ground. She could feel something wet on her back, and from the corner of her eye, she saw her mom slash at the man with a knife. She didn't know what had happened, but she felt weak, her lower body hurt, and her mind was empty.
She passed out only a few seconds later. When she awoke, she was back in the closet, only this time, she saw her mom bandage her back and chest up, with an annoyed expression on her face. She didn't say anything as she left her alone in the closet. A puddle of white liquid was on the floor. She didn't want to touch it, but she could smell it from where it sat. It smelt rancid.
She never saw that man again, but whoever he was, she decided that she hated him…
-Flashback over-
She hadn't noticed it, but she was now crying. Yoshikage looked at the door before fading into nothingness as Mitsuki entered the room. "Yoshihara! Why are you crying?" Mitsuki asked as the blond ignored her. Her hands were clenched on her stockings as her lip quivered. Mitsuki tried her best to comfort her; however, she found it extremely hard to do so.
While this was all happening, Josuke was watching Yoshihara through her window. He had stayed back at the school to help recovery girl deal with a few students who had broken their bones or had injured themselves using their quirks. Sense the Midoriya's apartment and the Bakugo's household were close to one another, he decided to peak into what she was doing.
When she saw the ghost of Yoshikage comfort her over… something… he became curious. When he disappeared and Katsuki's mother took over, he got suspicious. 'What are you hiding from me, Yoshihara… why are you letting Yoshikage influence your life. What is your end game…' Josuke thought, shaking his head.
"Forget it… I gotta get home. Aunt Inko might overreact and cry if I'm late." Josuke muttered to himself as he walked back to the apartment. As he walked, several thoughts came rushing into his head, some that disturbed him, but others that he shrugged off.
'Could she have killed someone and regrets it? Am I too cautious? Do I even know who she really is to think of her like her father?' Those thoughts and more like them popped up into his head, but one thought that popped into his head was one that caught his attention rather quickly. 'What was her childhood like?' that would be a question for him to ask her at a later date.
As he entered the apartment building and rode the elevator up to where he was staying, he walked down the hall to find the apartment. Opening the door, he stepped inside to see Izuku and Inko sitting down to eat dinner. "Josuke! You're late? What happened?" Inko asked as Josuke smiled.
"It's ok, Aunt; I was just helping the school's nurse," Josuke said, keeping the idea of stalking Yoshihara secret. Inko smiled endearingly at Josuke as Izuku nodded. "I'll come to eat with you all later; I need to do something quickly," Josuke said as he walked into his room.
Closing the room behind him, he reached into his pocket for a flip phone. Dialling a number he had on speed-dial, he placed the phone to his ear. "Hey, Okuyasu. Tell Koichi and Yukako to get down to Musutafu. It's not serious, well, that depends on how you look at it… Uh, no? Ok, look, enough about my love life! All I'm saying is that… I found someone who was linked with Kira… Yeah, it's like that. Just come down here by tomorrow, she's in my class. Yes, it's a girl, you dumbass. Ugh, whatever, just make sure you come down here. Apply for Yuei's reserve course and become students here, and I can tell you more." Josuke said, hanging up.
"I think that'll help…" Josuke said as he looked out of his window, which was just adjacent to the Bakugo household. "Whatever your hiding Yoshihara, you won't be hiding it for any longer."
