Basikov is at his chambers. He notices that his Palantir is lighting up.

He asks "What is it Sauron?"

Sauron says back "The Witch King and I have discovered something that has kept you back in your early years. We know it will only be a problem for you if it is still around. We are sending someone over and you know what you have to do."

Sauron has left. Basikov knows that this is something big, if Sauron has to keep it vague. However, he is not scared because the Witch King is a true friend of the Barrow Downs, and whatever it is, he knows that whatever he has to do will be good for North Barrow Downs in the long run.

His love, Aowyna, walks to the front of the palace. She shows the guards her letter. "I have a personal letter from Basikov to meet him today," she says.

The guards tell her "Right, this way."

She walks up to the chamber and says "Hello, Basikov." He feels genuinely shocked. Basikov has been trying to avoid ever thinking about her, and his new position has done just the job. He tells his bodyguards, Dorwen, and Lareneg "Leave us."

As they left the door, Basikov tells her "Sit down". She sits down. "I can't believe that you are now the leader" she says to him. " I am not being mean, I always remember you as being more shy and hidden."

Basikov chuckled, "You're memory is not younger self would never have believed that I would wind up as leader of this country. As much as the life of leadership is great, there was still something missing."

Aowyna asked "And what is that?"

Basikov said "It is you."

She let out a smile. Basikov realizing the details as he said that to her. If she is on the poorer side, than how did she get gold to get food while Basikov was gone at Minas Morgul. She looked just as good as he last saw her. Than he realized something, Aowyna does not care about love, but she wanted gold, and Basikov's niceness made the job easier.

His face changes to a more serious one. He asks "Why did you use me? I truly loved you. I would give up military rule just to have a family and live in a mound like most Barrow Wights. I was all about simple living, now my job is much bigger than I ever expected."

She says "I was such a fool. You were so nice to me and after seeing what you just said, I feel guilty inside. I truly do support your cause your cause and I will be by your side now."

Basikov detects that everything but supporting his cause as leader was a lie. The only reason he knows that that part of her talking is not wrong, is because she had mentioned that when they talked about it one time, about detesting Leader Lartuen. He now realizes that this is his test.

He hugs her and says "I love you. I forgive you for all the pain you have given me as it is now over."

She smiles and says "I am so glad that you forgive me. I had poor judgement and I should never have done that. I have changed my ways."

They exchange another hug, but she notices something upset in Basikov's eyes. It is not happiness but of sadness.

She asks him "Why are you upset?"

He tells her "I realized that there was someone else who was in love with you. I don't want to be in pain again. I don't want to lose you again."

She says "Who is this?" "Tell them, I am not available to them."

He says "It is my sword" and he stabs her in the chest. He says "I know you are a liar. You were just afraid that now I am the military ruler. You used me, but I have no use for you. I brought liberation for my people with the death of Lartuen, and now my pain is liberated of you."

Basikov sits down at the Palantir. Sauron asks "Did you do it?"

Basikov says with a remark "She hardly feels anything at all nowadays. Love is but a facade, it exists only so one can extort the other. It brings only pain and blindness, an obstacle to success."

Sauron says "Excellent work, Colonel, I want you to go to Minas Morgul, as the Witch King needs you."
