Author Note: Due to Popular demand, I thought why the heck not. Today is my 23rd birthday so happy birthday me.
I do not own Rick And Morty.
Enjoy!
Words could not describe the level of shame being felt as the last members of the Smith family entered the house.
Rick stumbled onto the green couch and sat down on it, he buried and said. "If you see me doze off, don't wake me"
Morty and Summer shrugged and began to go on the way.
But something was different about Beth.
Something in her just snapped.
Beth didn't know why she snapped, maybe it was because the husband she always talked down to, now had a more fulfilling life than she did.
Maybe, it was because her alcohol obsessed father just killed two people in front of her ex's workplace and news of what happened will spread all over town.
She may even get blacklisted and fired for what her dad did.
And was there an apology?
Was there an offer to make everybody in that building forget what happened?
No.
Instead, the man was slowly falling asleep drunk on her couch and her children were used to it.
What if Jerry was right?
What if she allowed her dad to tear her family apart and corrupt her kids?
She always thought her life would be better with her father and that Jerry was holding her back, but look at her now.
Exactly how had her life improved ever since her father came back into her life?
Her eyes went wide as if a cloud had been lifted from her mind.
Yes, exactly how had her life improved ever since her father came back into her's?
It hadn't.
It was actually way worse.
She suddenly found herself before her father, unconsciously her body had moved.
"Hey, dad. Can we talk" she said.
"We'll talk after I've slept," he said.
However, suddenly she found her spine and she said firmly. "No, dad. We can't talk about this later. I want you out of my house, today"
Silence.
Dead silence.
Her kids who were leaving suddenly stopped and turned.
Rick who was sleepy, eyes suddenly become sober as he said. "What? I thought I heard something"
She continued to find her spine and said. "You did hear something...I want you out of this house. Not tomorrow. This afternoon"
More silence.
"What the hell, bet-" Rick began but her spine had yet to vanish yet.
"No, Dad. We talk about this now" she said. "This whole family will talk about this now. Morty, Summer. I want you to hear this because I am tired of your grandfathers bull-crap"
Everybody mouth was open.
"Ever since my father showed up, our family has gotten so much worse," she said. "We all used to belittle Jerry, making him feel small because we took a page out of my deadbeat father's fancy book. Well, Jerry is gone like we wanted but where the heck is he now? In a sad lonely apartment crying for us to take him back? No. He pulled himself together. He got a job and not only that, he has a better job that pays more than mine. He has friends, he has money, he doesn't have to go to family counselling. Do you know I asked Jerry if we can get together again? But he didn't want anything to do with me, because I will fuck it up again and he was right!"
Silence.
"He said to me, that he didn't want any of his money going to my father alcohol problem," she said. "I laughed it off, but do you know what today proved? That my lazy ass father won't do anything unless he's drunk out of his mind. Dad, as much as I want to, I'm not like you, you made sure of that when you left me as a child to a normal world. My kids were born in a normal environment and grow up in one but in a span of a couple of months you have completely wrecked our world"
Her father mouth was open.
"I drove away the only person who could see the bullshit going on in this house and it wasn't worth it," she said. "My daughter is selfish, sarcastic and living off of me. The only difference between my father and my daughter is that she isn't an alcoholic yet! Get a fucking job Summer or I'll throw you out! You could at least make yourself useful around the house but all you do is text on your stupid phone and complain like I don't pay your bills. Well, I'm not funding you anymore. You can either get a job or get out, your 18!"
Summer face was unrecognisable.
"And Morty," she said, to the boy. "My God, Jerry was right. Your turning into my father. Every time I look at you it's like your not even 14 anymore. Being able to defuse a bomb doesn't mean squat in normal society. Do you know what your options will be in life if you keep going on adventures? You'll be a bitter old man just like grandfather or work at a car wash because learning to do anything more, was taught in a class you weren't there for! God, I should have never allowed your grandfather to pull you out of class, school isn't just there for decoration!"
She turned to her dad and said. "And Dad...what the fuck!? You come back into my life and immediately shit on my husband? I was happy! I had a happy family! Did you just think since I'm not happy, I must make sure everybody else is not happy? Did you? Because that sure as hell is what it looks like to me! When was the last time somebody laughed and it wasn't because somebody was in pain? When!?"
Nobody could find an answer to that.
"I let you crap all over my marriage because I was holding onto the hope that the years you spent away has made you a decent human being," she said. "But it hasn't. Your the smartest man in the universe, build something that can make your daughter financially free! But instead, your eating my food, spending my money, shitting on my ex-husband who has been the best man in this house and you're turning everybody around you into another depressed version of you like it's some kind of contest. Yes, every mother on the planet wants to see their child turn into alcoholic because their grandfather has been whispering the phrases that go through every suicidal person's mind. If your suicidal, get help, don't drag my children down with you!"
More silence.
"That is why," she said, tired. "I want you to leave. I am tired of bending over backwards for you, I am tired of watching you destroy my children. It took Jerry saying he no longer wants anything to do with us, to make me realize just how destructive you are. And you know what? You'll never change, you're so smart that you are basically god. If this goes on, one day I'm going to see Morty on the news committing mass genocide because his grandfather taught him it was okay to treat human beings as expendable"
She finished ranting.
"So get out Rick. I am tired" she said. "I am tired of pretending that we're above everybody else when in reality we're not. Were the biggest messes. We use our egos to mask how awful we feel inside. I don't want to live like this anymore. I want Morty to graduate high school, knowing he actually earned it. I want Summer to move out and be her own woman. I want to grow old with somebody I love and not be you. But you've destroyed the grow old part but there still two dreams left. However, those dreams won't happen if your here. I just can't with you anymore. I'm so tired"
Silence.
Dead silence.
"Alright," he said, surprising her. "But bear in mind, once I leave. You'll never see me again"
She kept her mouth closed.
"Morty. We're leaving" said Rick stunning her. "Oh, yeah. Were not actually your Rick and Morty. The version of us from your universe is buried in the backyard. Your welcome"
"Oh, my God!" she said, she ran out to see the graves she hadn't noticed before.
Summer came out to look, while Morty and Rick left.
"I had no idea that universe will take a turn like that," said Rick, taking out his portal gun "Let's settle this in another universe"
"Rick.." Said Morty.
"Yes, Morty?" Said Rick.
"I...don't think I want to travel with you anymore," said Morty making Rick stop.
Rick did a double-take.
"I think that version of my mom was right," said Morty. "I don't want to end up like a depressed old man. Adventures are fun and all but I can die any time, I've seen things I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. I pitied my dad but as soon as he got away from the family, he became way more confident and successful than my mother. Is it so bad to want to be normal? Spending your life not expecting something horrible to pop out and not want to kill you?"
"Morty...what the fuck?" said Rick. "Are you fucking kidding me? You're the Mortiest, Morty and I'm the Rickest Rick. Do you think you have a choice?"
Morty suddenly turned around and ran but Rick fired a ray and Morty was encased in a bubbled.
"I shouldn't have taken you to that universe," said Rick, as he took out his memory-erasing blaster. "It messed you up, "
"Fuck you, Rick," said Morty. "You may erase my mind but it won't change the fact, that you lost. You weren't the last man standing, after all, it was Jerry. Jerry is the one who took home the prize, while your forcing everybody to stay with your, sad-ass! You can kill that Jerry but that world will just keep happening over and over again and you know it. And I hope it eats you up inside like a bitch, knowing that there's a version out there were Jerry has got his shit together and your daughter throws you out of her life."
And then he was blasted and the bubble popped.
Rick slapped him hard awake.
"Huh? What happened?" Said Morty.
"You blacked out," said Rick, before he fired his portal gun, and he snapped through it.
Morty was about to walk after Rick when he was suddenly punched in the stomach by the man.
Morty bent over in pain and confusion.
"Sorry, reflex's," said Rick poking his head out, before he went back through and Morty went after him while clenching his stomach.
They were onto the next great adventure.
End.
