For the next couple of hours or more. Maxwell's first day at Hexside was calm and surprisingly free of stress, something he didn't expect. In the potions classroom, they were told by their teacher the potions they'd be doing and were told how to make a potion that cures all aches and pains in the body. As Maxwell was participating in creating such potion, he felt nervous at first but than remembered Eda's advice on what to do when feeling nervous, he first thought about how confident he felt when he took down the vampire and rapped out to the song he performed when he did, a sense of confidence risen inside him and Maxwell's attempt to create that said potion was perfect as the teacher tested it on herself as she had a headache and the potion cured her of her headache.
"Wow! That was literally a load off my mind. Maxwell, you got that right on your first attempt. Did you learn this from Eda or anyone else that was a potions expert?" said the potions teacher.
"No one taught me. This is my first time doing anything with potions." said Maxwell being honest.
The potions teacher was left surprised as this was new for her about a student who never did potions nor did he ever make a potion whatsoever. Even the students were surprised but most of them were thinking this was the coolest thing they ever saw, many of the girls in the class were swooning over him.
The next class was the class that was taught by those who joined the bard coven. Each student had their own way of artistic magic but even Luz had excelled at this too. When it was Maxwell's turn, Luz knew that Maxwell felt a bit nervous but she pulled him aside to give him some advice.
"Maxie, think of how you fell in love with Eda." whispered Luz into his ear.
Maxwell remembered the day he fell in love with Eda when she given him his first kiss when Eda helped him stand up to Lilith and her cruelty. His nervousness disappeared and his heart raced with the romantic feelings he felt for her. The bard teacher saw that Maxwell was next. Maxwell muttered the word "Ongaku" and in a puff of gold smoke, an acoustic guitar appeared and it was floating four feet into the air while it began to play a sweet and beautiful melody. As it played the music, two gold silhouettes appeared as one looked female and the other looked male, the female silhouette closely resembled Eda and the male silhouette closely resembled Maxwell which Maxwell began to sing.
"I tried, on my own. I thought I'd get there"
The guitar kept playing on it's own as it's beautiful but sad melody kept playing as the sound of the music was beautifully sad.
"Around and round, but I was only getting nowhere"
As the guitar kept playing the melody, and his voice sounding so beautiful that it could break hearts. The students felt like they were really enjoying this while the female students were falling for him. The two silhouettes showed they were dancing romantically.
"Then you came along and gave me something. Something that I could believe in, trust in. And I won't go back again"
Maxwell took a breath and kept singing such a beautiful melody. Everyone in the classroom felt like they were witnessing something out of a romantic drama novel that came to life. Luz was beaming with excitement as she knew this was showing how much he loves Eda.
"As long as I have you. I can live like there's nothing left to lose. Unbreak every fracture in my heart. Nothing in this world could ever tear this love apart"
As the melody got a bit louder but had the students entertained, even the teacher was feeling the emotional beauty the music shown. The two silhouettes looked like they were speaking to each other while they stopped dancing. It looked like they were smiling.
"They say you gotta take the good with the bad. I'll take it all as long as I have you"
The melody eventually died down and Maxwell stopped singing while the two gold silhouettes looked like they planted a kiss on each other and afterwards, both the acoustic guitar and the two silhouettes disappeared in a puff of gold smoke. The class applauded his performance.
"Mr. Logan, that was quite a sweet and emotional performance." said the bard teacher with a smile.
"I appreciate that." said Maxwell blushing.
"Who were the two silhouette figures?" asked a male student curiously.
Maxwell went silent for a brief moment and on the inside, he felt like he was panicking slightly but on the outside, he was stoic. Maxwell turned to Luz and heard her giving him advice on what to say by reading Luz's mind. He saw Luz wink at him to let him know to trust her and he does trust her.
"A married couple I met once." lied Maxwell. "They've been together for a long time and been through a lot. Nothing can tear their love apart."
The student he lied to bought it and later on, the class was over and it was time for lunch. Luz and Maxwell were sitting down in the cafeteria. The tables and seats in the cafeteria were of a blue color. They had places on top of the trash cans to place their uses trays with the trash cans below it, the trash cans had large yellow tongues hanging out from them while there was a banner like sign that had the picture of a banshee's face looking it it was screaming while a while there was words on the banner that read "Home of the Banshees" Luz and Maxwell sat together at one of the tables.
"Hey guys." came Gus voice.
The two turned to see Willow and Gus coming over.
"Want to sit with us?" Luz offered.
"Sure." said Willow and Gus in unison.
As both Willow and Gus sat down, Willow sat next to Maxwell while Gus sat down next to Luz. Luz and Gus were eating what looked like meat sandwiches and a bottle of sweet juice, Willow was eating what looked like a wrapped up burger with a canned drink, possibly soda. In Maxwell's case, he had what was a bottle of water, and he had a large wrapped up burger.
"Hungry Maxie?" said Willow.
"Like a body builder with an athlete's metabolism." said Maxwell blushing.
The young male human took a large bite out of the burger and he was eating his way through the burger as he tasted the salty taste of bacon and burger patty along with the tangy taste of melted cheese. He was surprising them with how fast of an eater he is as he devoured the burger down and didn't leave a mess on his face or fingers. They saw he completely devoured it down without making a mess, but he still used a napkin to clean himself off and he chugged the bottle of water down in less than a minute.
"Whoa! You sure can eat." said Gus with a chuckle.
"I normally don't just pig out like that but with how nervous I was about my first day and seeing that my classes are not too bad at all. I was feeling the hunger get to me." said Maxwell blushing.
Maxwell let out a loud burp afterwards, leaving him to blush deeper. Some of the students nearby heard his loud burp and smiled.
"Now that's gnarly, dude." said a male student amused.
"Excuse me, that wasn't meant to be heard." said Maxwell with a hiccup.
"Better out than in, right?" said the male student optimistically.
Maxwell felt better knowing that the student showed an understanding about the bodily functions and he walked off waving at him. Luz, Gus and Willow ended up finishing off their lunch and their drinks as they too let out a burp, all of them chuckling. This had Maxwell feeling better to know that burping was alright with them as well as farting.
"I wonder who burped louder?" said Luz chuckling.
"Definitely Maxie, he wins this burping competition." said Gus.
Luz raised her hand up as if to high five Maxwell. This left Maxwell a bit clueless at first which he had no idea what Luz's gesture was meaning and she took notice.
"You never high fived anyone before?" asked Luz.
"I've shaken hands before but high fiving, that's new to me. I never high fived anyone nor has anyone high fived me." said Maxwell showing some embarrassment.
"You just slap your palm against the other. Luz showed me when I first met her." explained Gus.
As Maxwell was told how to high five someone, he raised his hand up and firmly but gently slap his hand palm against Luz's palm, he felt a bit of a thrill from it and did it once more before they placed their hands down.
"First time I high fived anyone in my life. Now I know why people do that when they're psyched." said Maxwell with a grin as his blushing vanished.
As they were about to speak about another subject. Maxwell felt the urge to use the bathroom strike as he felt pressure in his lower body. He blushed and knew that he couldn't ignore this.
"Where's the bathroom around here?" asked Maxwell nervously.
They looked at Maxwell and were at first not aware of what he meant.
"Are you having to...oh?" said Gus suddenly getting it.
"I got to use it but I don't know where it is." said Maxwell feeling embarrassed.
"I could show him?" came a female's voice.
They turned to see Amity walking by as she just got done with eating her lunch. Maxwell was quick to act as he got up from his seat, he threw away his trash by placing it into the nearby garbage can which the garbage can had looked like it chewed up what he placed in it and let out a loud burp.
"That's new." said Maxwell surprised. "Amity, where to?"
"Just follow me." instructed Amity.
Amity lead Maxwell out of the cafeteria and she was leading him down one hallway and another which Maxwell was holding it at this point.
"Almost there?" asked Maxwell blushing deeper.
"We're already here." Amity told him as they stopped.
They stopped at the doors that lead to the bathroom for the boys and the girls. The girls bathroom was on the right while the boys bathroom was on the left.
"Thanks Amity. Now if you'll excuse me." said Maxwell walking to the door. "I'll find my way back to the cafeteria, thanks again."
Amity smiled and let Maxwell be for now as he went into the bathroom to use it. He sat down on the toilet to pee and he felt better afterwards. He made sure he flushed, cleaned up after himself and took five minutes to wash his hands and dry them.
"That was a relief." said Maxwell feeling better.
As Maxwell walked out of the bathroom, he briefly saw what looked like a tall figure that passed by. He stopped as he saw the tall figure looked like it was dressed in black, wore a fedora, black boots and it appeared to be male. Was this figure a teacher, one of the parents of the students or someone who worked for the Emperor's Coven? He had no idea.
"Excuse me, do you need H-mmmpph." Maxwell was cut off.
A hand was clasped over Maxwell's mouth and he was pulled into what looked like a secret door from the lockers in the hallway. He was pulled into a room that looked a bit odd at first. The room appeared to be a tower with trap doors, front doors, and windows covering the walls all around. The doors and windows were of varying shapes, sizes, and colors. The walls were built of gray cement bricks, and has a spiral ramp riding alongside it. Maxwell was going in a panic but to his surprise, a young teenage girl who was a witch showed herself. One of her hands was on his mouth while the other was signaling him to be silent.
"Don't scream. It's alright, I'll explain everything as long as you don't scream." said the female teenager.
She placed her free hand on Maxwell's chest where his heart was located. She slowly removed her hand from his mouth and shown him a smile of compassion. Maxwell started to calm himself as he felt his panic dissipate.
"So you're the new student? The second human like Luz?" she said.
He nodded once as the teenage girl removed her hand from his chest. Maxwell felt like he could sense three minds in the room but he only saw one person in there with him. He stood up straight and even Maxwell was taller than her.
"Viney, tell your friends Jerbo and Barcus they can come out." said Maxwell finally.
The young girl was wide eyed. How did Maxwell know who she is without her telling him? She didn't know but she was curious.
"How do you know who I am?" said Viney curiously.
"Bring your friends in here and I'll explain as you will explain to me what you'll tell me. I don't mean to sound rude but if I'm to explain what you want to know, it's better if your friends are in the same room so all three of you can be informed together, that way no one is left out of the loop. Will you please do that for me?" explained Maxwell as he was blushing with a hiccup.
Viney blushed and giggled at the hiccup as if finding it to be cute coming from him.
"Okay. Jerbo, Barcus! Come on out, he's cool!" called Viney.
Maxwell looked up to see another door opening up and two male teenagers came in, one looked humanoid while the other looked like a dog with a human face. They came out and joined them.
"Viney, Jerbo and Barcus. All three of you wanted to join two tracks of magic at the same time yet Principle Bump was against it at first. Viney now in dual tracks that is healing and beast keeping. Jerbo being in plant and abominations track. Barcus being in oracle and potions. Viney being the leader of the detention track as the three of you use the secret room of shortcuts." Maxwell continued. "The rooms access across the school, the actual entrance seems to be the blackboard in the detention track room, by drawing a large square and a key hole and tapping it like a glyph. It can be accessed by other entrances. The doors in the room open to seemingly every classroom in the school and most of the hallways. Unless fully opened, it does not appear the catch the attention of others in the area, which allowed the detention track to listen in on classes you three were not a part of and this room is founded by someone who goes by the name of Lord Calamity."
The three students looked at Maxwell with shock. If they were holding anything in their hands, they would've dropped it to the floor.
"How do you?" Jerbo began.
"Your minds are no closed books. And I see you know Luz from what your memories shown me." Maxwell explained.
Viney smiled as if thrilled to meet someone whose the coolest guy in school.
"A mind reader and a southerner. Oh, your the one who took down that vampire. That was very cool!" said Viney starting to warm up to him.
Maxwell suspected they knew about the events that day since the whole school saw him take the vampire down.
"Thank you. Yet it's like I've said, as long as I'm still alive and breathing. No man will lay a hand, finger or their magic on a lady. Not while I'm around." said Maxwell stating his words. "Just like my mom told me: It's impolite for a man to hit a lady."
Viney smiled and pulled Maxwell in for a hug but it was a tight and firm one.
"Awww, you're sweet." said Viney kindly.
"Too tight, Viney!" said Maxwell weakly.
Viney loosened her grip and Maxwell was able to breathe normally. She eventually released her arms from him. He blushed from being hugged by Viney.
"So what's your name, human?" asked Viney.
"I'm Maxwell Logan." said Maxwell introducing himself with a loud hiccup. "Why was I grabbed and dragged in here?"
The three students went silent and they knew something that Maxwell didn't. They looked at each other and back at him.
"Maxwell, you might not believe us if we tell you." said Jerbo hesitantly.
Barcus let out three loud barks and Maxwell looked right at the brown furred male dog student.
"How bad can the news be, Barcus?" asked Maxwell.
Barcus let out a couple more barks and Maxwell still wasn't sure.
"Should you tell me what?" asked Maxwell curiously.
"You understand what Barcus says?" said Jerbo surprised. "How are you able to do that? I'm mostly the only other person that knows."
"I may not be able to understand his words verbally but I can understand them from his mind. I didn't think that would be possible though." Maxwell explained again.
Barcus let out another bark.
"What did Barcus say?" asked Viney.
"Barcus said that Maxwell's aura is a mix of many details. Strong, powerful and brave like a lion or warrior, kind and gentle like a gentlemen to the ladies, compassionate, kind like a courageous hero, yet a tiny bit of it is hardened like stone. But he like you." Jerbo translated.
Before they were about to say anything else was when a loud scream was heard from outside the room, followed by a loud, ferocious snarl. Maxwell and the rest of them froze from shock as Maxwell turned to see a door that got his attention.
"Open that door!" Maxwell instructed. "Now!"
Viney ran to the door that Maxwell pointed to and she opened the door. When the door opened, in came both Luz, Willow, Gus and Amity. They closed the door behind them.
"Luz, you guys alright?" asked Viney.
"We're fine but Amity." said Luz pointing to Amity.
Amity was shown to be bleeding from her arm as she was wincing from pain and groaning from the sting of it as if it was like cutting themselves shaving.
"Amity, you're bleeding! Let me tend to that." Viney offered.
"Allow me!" Maxwell chimed in.
Maxwell ran to Amity's side and saw that her left arm was bleeding from a few cuts that looked like it was sharp teeth marks. Without warning, Maxwell clapped his hands once and his hands glowed a gold light as he placed his hands on Amity's wounded arm and that's when they saw Amity's arm glowing like his hands. Amity felt the pain instantly disappear while the wounds were rapidly disappearing. It took about a minute for the healing process to pass and the light from his hands and her arm disappeared. Amity's wounds were completely gone as she moved her arm without feeling any pain. They looked at Maxwell with a mix of surprise and relief as Maxwell released his hands from Amity's now healed arm.
"Someone tell me what is going on!" Maxwell demanded.
"It looked like a man dressed in black but it's not a man like a human or a witch." babbled Luz. "Something horrible is loose in the school."
"Luz is right, we saw it enter the school when we were done with lunch and we retreated to this room." said Jerbo explaining.
Maxwell felt a bit of rage rising inside him as he knew that he too saw the figure briefly but knowing it harmed Amity, a young lady, he felt like he wanted to go out there and kill it just because it harmed Amity.
"What is that monster?" asked Maxwell popping his neck.
"From what we saw. I think that's a Greater Velociraptor. I heard about them in a class. My cousin at St. Epiderm said she saw one, but those things should be extinct." explained Viney.
"It must've attacked the other schools, and now it's come for us. It even attacked Amity when we were headed to the next class before it would start." said Luz.
Maxwell let out a lion like growl of anger as they looked right at him.
"That bastard! That's the thing that me and Luz saw on Principle Bump's crystal ball, it attacked the students and teachers at Glandus, he said he warned the other teachers and now it slipped in and attacked Amity!" said Maxwell forming fists.
Maxwell cracked his knuckles and his eyes turned gold completely. He heard the lizard like creature making loud growls and roars out there again.
"Step aside!" said Maxwell with a growl.
Maxwell made his way towards the door that would lead outside the room they were all in. Viney grabbed hold of Maxwell's sleeve to stop him.
"What are you going to do?" asked Viney looking worried.
"Your cousin said they should be extinct, right? Well, I'm going to make it extinct!" said Maxwell sharply.
"But what if it attacks you?" said Jerbo looking worried as well.
Maxwell turned to face them all and they all saw his eyes were fully the color of gold.
"That overgrown lizard skin bag out there is dangerous, it will not stop, it will attack and kill anything that moves, it attacked a young lady who is my friend. I'm going to do something about it." said Maxwell determined to do what he just said he would do.
"Maxie is right. Hexoleos are out there getting hurt, and we're the only ones who can save them. We're witches, right? So let's go out there and cast a spell or two." said Luz in agreement.
"Just let me handle it. I'm not letting that lizard hurt any of my friends, and it's not laying a hand on a woman." said Maxwell determined.
Maxwell turned to the door again but he was blocked by Luz who had a determined expression. Luz grabbed hold of the front of Maxwell's shirt.
"Maxwell Logan, we are helping you in saving the school! We know you don't want us getting hurt but if we get hurt a little, than you can use your healing magic on us. I don't want to get tough on you with this but ether we're helping you or we'll follow you and do so. Don't argue with me, young man. We're helping you tackle this monster because we care about you and the others here and that's that, young man! Understand?" said Luz sounding firm but compassionate.
"Yes ma'am!" said Maxwell becoming submissive.
"Alright, I'm sorry I got tough with you but it's only because we want to help just as much as you do. But we can only take it down together. We love you just as much as you love us like family." said Luz now showing compassion.
She released her hands from him and hugged him as Maxwell hugged her back. After the released their arms from each other. They knew what to do next.
"Amity, both you, Willow and Gus stay here. Viney, Jerbo, Barcus, Maxie, we'll take this creature on like the Greater Basilisk. Maxie, we'll talk about that other creature later." instructed Luz. "I got an idea."
They huddled up and as Luz told them about the plan in mind. The plan she told them left all of them wide eyed with shock.
Somewhere in the school
The male lizard demon that was dressed in black was walking around in the hallways as the students of the school ran and hidden inside the classrooms with other teachers, some of them almost got hurt but the male lizard demon was letting out loud, snarl like roars.
"Give them humans to me! Or I'll kill anyone hiding them! I know you have them in here!" shouted the lizard demon.
The lizard demon had what sounded like a deep Russian accent. He was laughing like a mad man as he walked down the hallways and turned down another hallway, sniffing the air.
"You can't hide them forever! I smell someone nearby and it smells like a human!" called the lizard demon.
The lizard demon stopped when it heard a whistling sound. He looked around and tried to locate who or where the sound came from.
"Over here! I'm just a lost little child with too much meat on her bones." came a female's voice.
The lizard demon let out a hostile growl as it ran forwards, knowing the voice was near.
"I'm having ribs for lunch!" screamed the lizard demon.
The lizard demon suddenly saw a piece of paper appear on the floor and saw an icy blue colored glyph glow and it formed a huge ice pillar that it crashed into when it went up, it felt like the lizard demon was punched in the face by an uppercut punch, sending him flying across the hall and landing on the floor, it used it's feet to stop itself from sliding. He looked up to see Luz now standing in front of the ice pillar, the lizard demon was bleeding a little from the mouth.
"Oops! Sorry, I knew you'd be fine if you landed on your butt!" Luz insulted.
"You little human brat!" shouted the lizard demon.
The lizard demon charged at Luz while Luz took off running down a hallway. The lizard demon screeched to a halt and turned to run afterward Luz.
"Gyere vissza!" cried the lizard.
"Viney, do the thing, do the thing!" cried Luz.
As Luz ran, a huge griffin flew in from the side and let out an eagle like screech that tackled the lizard demon, pinning him down with it's big butt. Viney showed up as she traced a blue circle in the air.
"Get this bird's fat ass off me!" growled the lizard demon.
"Attagirl, Puddles! Jerbo, now!" called Viney.
A loud rumbling was heard from the spot where the demon lizard was and the rumbling stopped once a white square hole was forming around him. He used an impressive amount of strength to push the griffin off him as he stood up on his feet.
"Give me the humans!" shouted the lizard.
The lizard suddenly spotted the square hole that surrounded him and saw it open a door from beneath him. Than he looked up at Viney.
"Going down." Viney joked.
The male lizard fell from the hole in the on the floor and shouted a very nasty swear word as both Luz and Maxwell showed up and took the others hand.
"Do you trust me?" said Maxwell.
"Yes." said Luz nodding.
Both of them jumped through the hole in the floor and Maxwell snapped his fingers as Luz suddenly had her body magnetize to Maxwell's stomach.
"Hold onto me!" commanded Maxwell.
Luz wrapped her arms and legs around Maxwell's torso as they looked down and saw the lizard demon trying not to fall down through the next hold in the room they were in. Maxwell bounced on the lizard demon's back and it made him fall through the hole while both Maxwell and Luz fell through the hole after him. They fell through another door that formed from the ceiling to the auditorium. The lizard demon landed on his feet on the stage.
"Heads up, asshole!" came Maxwell's voice.
The lizard demon looked up and saw Maxwell come down on him. Maxwell landed and bounced off the lizard demon's shoulders and did a flip in the air as he landed on the stage. He snapped his fingers and Luz wasn't magnetized to Maxwell's body anymore.
"Find a place to hide." Maxwell told her.
Luz ran somewhere to hide to watch them from a distance. Maxwell looked towards the lizard demon as the two faced each other.
"Another human!" said the lizard demon.
"Another pair of lizard skin boots, bags and belts." insulted Maxwell.
They locked eyes with each other as they were about to face off in battle.

"She's the first I attacked and I love the taste of her flesh." mocked the lizard demon. "And you're next, you stupid monkey."
"You touch one more lady or anyone here, I'm going to kick your ass!" threatened Maxwell.
"I like to see you try and stop me, a backwoods child like you is nothing but a dumb, country bumpkin!" the lizard demon insulted.
That word again. That word that Maxwell hated the most when it was directed at him. The gold energy formed around him as he roared like a lion.
"Say hello to your extinct brethren for me." growled Maxwell.
Both Maxwell and the lizard demon let out a battle cry and charged at each other, both proven to be very fast went dodging punches and kicks, they ether blocked, deflected or dodged the others every move. Maxwell managed to land a powerful punch to the lizard's face and it knocked his hat off him, revealing his face as he had a deep scar around his left eye. He had green skin and small but very sharp fangs.
"You call that a punch?" taunted the lizard demon. "I throw better punches when I'm smoking my favorite brand of cigars."
They charged at each other again and tried to land another move on the other as they grabbed hold of each other and wrestled each other off the stage and onto the floor.
"Farm boy!" insulted the lizard demon.
"Precambrian life form!" insulted Maxwell.
"Nerd!" the lizard demon continued.
"Dumb jock!" insulted Maxwell.
As the two of them were having a brawl, that's when Luz, Viney, Jerbo and Barcus came from their hiding place as they watched how Maxwell and the lizard demon battled against each other. Maxwell gained the upper hand and smiled as his face was in the lizard demon's face.
"Hey dino shit, guess what I had for lunch?" said Maxwell with a grin.
Maxwell suddenly let out a loud fart as this time, his fart was having a horrible scent that not even the lizard demon could stand it, causing them both to let go of one another. Both of them got up on their feet while the demon was coughing a bit.
"That's just sick! What did you eat?" complained the lizard.
"Everything that'll make someone fart. It almost smells worse than your breath." insulted Maxwell.
"You wouldn't be smart mouthing if I had your human companion as my hostage." the lizard demon joked. "Where is that black brat anyway?"
Luz didn't like the sound of his words as she felt offended and misinformed.
"I'm a Dominican-American!" Luz corrected.
Maxwell let out another loud lion like roar as he was about to charge at the lizard demon but he saw what looked like a large vial suddenly being tossed at the lizard demon, it landed on the lizard demon's face and purple liquid was all over his face, suddenly turning into a thick and rubbery substance instantly.
"I can't see, damn it!" screeched the lizard.
Maxwell turned to see that Barcus was nearby and he let out a loud bark as Barcus winked and smiled at him, letting him know that he was the one who tossed the vial at the lizard demon. Maxwell turned to the lizard demon who was letting out loud, vicious snarls. He tried to get the rubbery gum like substance off his face but it was stuck to him like glue. Maxwell had an idea.
"Hey big guy, guess who?" called Maxwell.
Maxwell ran towards him but teleported from where he ran. The lizard demon tried to listen to where he was located but couldn't hear him.
"Where are you!" shouted the lizard demon.
Maxwell reappeared behind the lizard man and he smiled.
"Here." said Maxwell in a deep and gruff voice.
The lizard demon was about to turn to try and attack but Maxwell took hold of the lizard demon's long, thick and wide tail.
"Mama said knock you out!" cried Maxwell.
The kids saw that Maxwell used his strength to begin swinging the lizard demon by his tail while at times he would slam him on the floor, he'd toss him in one direction and he ran at super sonic speed to the other end he threw him in to punch the demon in the face, he'd do this over and over a few times. Maxwell managed to punch him in the stomach, knocking the breath out of the lizard man as he stopped going back and forth.
"Who you trying to get crazy with, ése? Don't you know I'm loco?" taunted Maxwell in a sing song voice.
As the demon would try to land a punch of kick to Maxwell, he had no idea that he kept missing the shot since he was blinded. Maxwell sneaked his way over to the demon as it kept trying to locate him with his ears from the sounds anyone would make yet he wasn't trained for it, proving to be no good. Maxwell dodged every move this demon made.
"Bro, you got ta' maintain. Cuz a brotha like you is goin; insane." Maxwell taunted in a sing song voice.
"Hold still, you little brat!" growled the lizard man.
Maxwell was sounding like he was tauntingly singing words to a hip hop song while he at times he would sing out "Insane in the membrane" while Luz would sing out "Insane in the brain!" or "Crazy insane, got no brain!" this was angering the lizard man even more. Maxwell grabbed hold of his tail again and swung him around again.
"Stop doing that! Oh man, I think I'm going to be sick." groaned the lizard man.
"It's because you're loco!" the kids said in a sing song voice.
Maxwell tossed the lizard man into the air while Luz came out from her hiding place and managed to give the lizard man a hard kick to his skull which had him be tossed back to the direction of Maxwell.
"You like to smoke? How about a light?" joked Maxwell.
What the kids saw was incredible as Maxwell sucked in a big amount of air and let out a lion like roar as he breathed fire from his mouth and the flames engulfed the lizard man in a ball of fire that quickly burned him into nothing but ashes. The fire disappeared and the ashes of the lizard demon fell to the floor and was in a tiny pile. Maxwell walked over to the spot where the ashes remained. The gold energy from Maxwell disappeared, his eyes turned back to blue.
"No smoking." said Maxwell with no emotion.
As Maxwell looked up, he saw Luz as they knew the danger was over.
"Come on out, gang! The lizard man got roasted like a chicken, literally." called out Maxwell.
Luz and Maxwell saw Viney, Jerbo, Barcus coming out and they saw a big hole like door from the ceiling that had Amity, Willow and Gus watching from there. Maxwell came over to Luz as Luz came to him by a run and pulled him in for a hug as Maxwell hugged her back. Luz was so happy that the danger was over, that their plan worked and that Maxwell was alright that it gave her the strength to lift him up off the ground in her hugging him by about three inches off the ground. Maxwell was surprised by her strength, he never saw Luz being able to lift him up like that since he was quite muscular. She placed him back on his feet afterwards as she released.
"Everyone alright?" called Maxwell blushing. "Amity, how's your arm?"
"Had a good healer and he says I'll probably keep my arm." said Amity lightly making a joke.
Luz chuckled and Maxwell smiled.
"What in Hexside just happened!" came a male's voice.
They all turned to see Principle Bump coming from behind the backseats in the auditorium. He was shocked but looked angry.
"We had a problem but I took care of it." answered Maxwell.
"Not hiding in the classrooms when a possible threat enters the school, damaging school property when we're in the process of repairing any and all damages from the previous incidents, and did you use that secret hideout again!" ranted Principle Bump.
They were all taken aback. They were thinking that Principle Bump would be happy they tackled the problem but were shocked to see he had the opposite reaction. He looked at Maxwell with a hostile expression that looked irate.
"Did you let that crazy person in as a joke?" snapped Principle Bump.
"No I did not! He let himself in during lunch." said Maxwell annoyed.
"You caused more damage to the school like the previous incidents before. Do you have any idea how long this will take to get all damages repaired?" shouted Principle Bump.
As Principle Bump was pinning the blame on Maxwell, this caused Maxwell's smile to rapidly fade and he was filled with heart breaking disappointment and shame.
"But sir, I clearly warned you about this." said Maxwell feebly defending himself.
"Don't you dare talk back to me!" shouted Principle Bump harshly. "By the time I'm done with this incident, you"
"Suficiente!" Luz interrupted.
This left the principle wide eyed with shock as he saw Luz was interrupting him.
"Don't you dare talk like that to Maxie! When you found out that someone was attacking students and teachers at Glandus through your crystal ball, Maxie suggested that you keep the other teachers and staff informed in case this person reached Hexside, you dismissed it like it wasn't going to happen but it did, didn't it!" said Luz pointing out the facts.
Principle Bump was now taken aback. As Luz was defending Maxwell and telling the principle off, Maxwell's disappointment faded and turned to hope. Luz was defending him like a mother defending her child.
"Well, yes, but." Principle Bump began.
"He gave you a reason to inform the teachers, the staff and students here because he was worried everyone hear could get hurt if this man found his way here but you didn't inform them, did you?" Luz continued pointing another fact out.
"Well, no, but." Principle Bump began again.
"We all saved Hexside and Maxwell defeated the threat, that threat that attacked the other schools just waltzed it's way in here like how every other student comes to school because you didn't inform everyone about the possible danger and that you didn't keep a guard at the doors, isn't that right?" Luz continued as she was on a roll.
Principle Bump was being proven wrong by Luz really fast, his angry and intimidating expressions wear changing to a guilty stoic look and the harsh tone in his voice was changing really fast to surprise.
"Well I." Principle Bump tried again.
"Maxie saved the school from that vampire weeks ago and now he defeated that lizard demon to help save the school, sure, there's some damages being repaired here that you've got who ever can be available because of a current budget problem, so you had to take on what little help that can be available. Maxie saved the entire school and everyone in it, there might've been some damages, yes, but you can't blame it on Maxie and you can't talk to him like that. He even offered to help with the damages but you dismissed that too." Luz continued as she crossed her arms in discontent.
"Well, I was about to." Principle Bump started but was cut off.
"This is just like last time when you needed money for repairs here when there was damages to the school when you didn't let anyone join one than one magic track, the Greater Basilisk attacked other schools, than it came here, attacked the school, and both me, Viney, Jerbo and Barcus defeated that monster posing as an inspector sent by the Emperor's Coven who turned out to be an imposter, she could've been a child predator for all we knew. Maxie didn't cause any of this, that Greater Velociraptor demon did. Maxie has been nothing but nice to you and offered to help out with the damages to the school but you're going to pin the blame on him for today's incident that he clearly didn't know would happen and you're going to stand by and lecture him about something you didn't report to the students and teachers? Do you still want to have this conversation?" said Luz shaking her head at him disapprovingly.
Principle Bump hated to admit it but he knew that Luz was right. Taking his outrage on Maxwell was wrong, yelling at him was wrong and blaming the incident on him was worse. The other kids crossed their arms in discontent and gave Principle Bump a look of disapproval. Maxwell felt like he was having one of the happiest moments of his life. He had seven students sticking up for him, he knew that Principle Bump was going to let him have it and take his frustration out on him but with the argument Luz presented to the principle about taking the appropriate caution of a possible threat being Principle Bump's responsibility but he failed to do so, no matter what came up that kept him busy, he knew that as the principle of the school, it was his responsibility, not Maxwell. Principle Bump didn't have a leg to stand on in this situation. Maxwell felt better knowing that the other kids were standing by him.
"Maxwell, what happened to the creature?" asked Principle Bump.
"I did the same thing to that vampire to that prehistoric lizard." said Maxwell.
"Burnt like crispy bacon?" guessed Principle Bump.
"Is Eda the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles?" said Maxwell with a grin.
Principle Bump was left curious and confused when Maxwell said that but he didn't know if it meant anything or not.
"I'll take that as a yes." said Principle Bump. "I'm smart enough to know when I've made a mistake."
Maxwell let out a sigh of relief. Maxwell walked over to Luz as she turned to him and she pulled Maxwell in her arms for a hug with him hugging her back, he felt his heart racing from joy and relief. He felt like he was going to be harshly judged punished like his father did to him in the past. After a minute of hugging, they released their arms from each other.
"Is everyone else alright? Anything broken, cut, damaged or worse?" called Maxwell.
"We're cool!" said everyone in unison.
Maxwell turned to the principle and faced him.
"Hey Principle Bump, still need some assistance with the repairs to the school?" asked Maxwell curiously.
"There's a lot to start off with but it's going to take a while." Principle Bump informed.
"Or it can take less than a minute or more." said Maxwell getting an idea.
They all were left confused. How was Maxwell going to repair all damages to the school in that amount of time he told them. Maxwell started to mutter what sounded like foreign words that none of them understood. He made what looked like hand motions that almost looked like his hands were doing a dance motion but they started to glow a pure gold light.
"Maxwell?" said Principle Bump nervously.
Maxwell ignored him and clapped both his hands three times and placed his hands on the floor. Gold light was flashing from his hands to the rest of the school as if it was like an electronic light show. The gold light spread to the entire school and the damages to the whole school suddenly looked like time pressed the rewind button on them and the pieces to anything broken instantly put it's back together like they rebuilt and repaired itself, literally by itself. All the damages to the school was being instantly restored like the way Maxwell instantly healed Amity's wound on her arm. Within less than five minutes it felt like, the gold lights from all around the school eventually vanished into thin air and the gold light and gold energy around Maxwell and his disappeared just as quickly. Maxwell got up from the floor and stood up straight. Even the damages in the auditorium was repaired as if the damages never happened. The other kids smiled and were amazed while Principle Bump was left so surprised that he was almost speechless.
"Repairs for a broken toilet, nearly eighty dollars. Hiring an exterminator to get rid of a bed bugs problem, nearly three hundred dollars. Using my power to repair any and all damages to an entire school, it won't cost you one coin at all." said Maxwell feeling confident.
The principle was nearly shocked beyond belief but some part of him felt like he wanted to jump for joy but he kept a stoic expression on his face while feeling relieved.
"Principle Bump, Luz, how long did you know about the secret room of shortcuts?" asked Maxwell curiously.
"Since the day Luz had her first day of attending Hexside." answered Principle Bump. "Luz was actually the first student to be allowed to learn all magic from all tracks and she convinced me to let other students learn more than one track if they choose to."
Maxwell looked at Luz as she smiled and nodded.
"I'll bet Eda was proud of you." said Maxwell feeling proud himself.
"That she was." said Luz.
"Mr. Logan, as you and Luz Noceda are both learning all magic here from all magical tracks. Again, did I say her last name right?" said Principle Bump.
"You got it." Luz replied.
"Thank you. Even as you two learn all magic from all tracks, only one other student wanted to study every track. Unfortunately, she was never given the opportunity." finished Principle Bump.
Maxwell wanted to know who this girl was but the principle traced a bright green circle in the air as it grew bigger and wider, a huge portrait was coming through the circle and the portrait looked like some paint was covering it but Principle Bump had a green light flash from his hand that removed the paint covering the portrait and it shown who person was in the portrait. It was none other than Eda herself but it looked like an eighteen year old version of Eda. Her hair shown to be a fiery orange, the same golden eyes but it shown her in the potions track uniform. She shown to be smiling for the picture. Maxwell found out that the one known as "Lord Calamity" was Eda.
"Mi amor." gasped Maxwell.
Seeing this picture of Eda when she was younger had Maxwell's heart racing, his eyes nearly looked like hearts were in them. He smiled as he walked towards the portrait of Eda as a teenager. He was looking like the day he fell in love with Eda and told her how much he loves her, he felt completely love-struck by the sight of how beautiful Eda appeared in the portrait.
"As long as I have you. I can live like there's nothing left to lose. Unbreak, every fracture in my heart. Nothing in this world could tear this love apart. They say you gotta take the good with the bad, I'll take it on as long as I have you." said Maxwell expressing his love for Eda.
Maxwell stared at the portrait as he fought the urge to shed tears. Luz smiled as she felt the love that Maxwell expressed towards the woman he's romantically involved with.
"Wait, does mean that Maxie and Eda are?" began Viney.
Maxwell felt like his heart raced so fast from being love-struck by Eda that he fell backwards and fainted from Eda's pure beauty that shown in the portrait so perfectly. Luz, Willow, Gus and Amity came to him by a run and came to his side. Luz lifted him up as she saw Maxwell was coming out of it but he was blushing deeply with a grin. Both Luz and Amity helped him up to his feet as Maxwell was conscious again, just blushing as deep red as possible.
"What time is it?" asked Maxwell.
Principle Bump looked at what looked like a wrist watch on his right wrist.
"Well, will you look at that. The school day is over. I guess it's like they say about time when they say time flies by fast." said Principle Bump not expecting it. "Unless any of you need a ride to your home, I'll be talking with other staff members about how we can beef up the security around here in case we have another threat coming towards the school like the one that showed up today."
"We're cool!" said the kids.
The kids walked out of the auditorium as they said their good byes for today. Maxwell used his healing factor power to heal anyone else at Hexside who had been attacked or hurt by the lizard demon, luckily for everyone else, they just had minor cuts and bruises, but were otherwise alright.
"I wonder where King ran off to?" said Luz curiously.
"All right. Read chapters three to five on the right way to scratch yourself in public. Spoiler alert: There's no wrong way!" came King's voice.
Both Luz and Maxwell turned to see King in a classroom as other kids walked out of the room. Principle Bump was near the door as he walked inside the room.
"Luz, I'll get King. I'll meet you outside." said Maxwell.
Luz understood as she walked towards the front entrance of the school. Maxwell walked inside the classroom that King and Principle Bump were in. King let out a satisfied sigh.
"Days like these make being a teacher all worth it." said King sipping water from a green mug that had "The Best Me" in white lettering.
Principle Bump looked as though he was not amused by the idea of King being a teacher since he doesn't remember hiring King to teach a class.
"You're not a teacher." said Principle Bump clearing his throat.
King turned to see Principle Bump standing near him with his hands on his waist. The principle had a disapproving look.
"Maybe not, but I care about these kids, and nothing can change that." said King feeling determined.
Principle Bump was about to take immediate action towards King but Maxwell intervened by placing his arms out to block him from going anywhere near King.
"I'll take it from here." Maxwell intervened.
Maxwell walked over to King and motioned for him to come to him with his right hand. King obeyed and Maxwell whispered something in his ear that started to leave a wide eyed shocked expression in his eyes. After Maxwell stood up straight, that's when King started to look up at Maxwell and Principle Bump.
"Is that true, Maxie?" asked King curiously.
The human male nodded once and King placed the mug near where he stood. The little canine male demon made his way towards the exit.
"Bump, my advice to you is lots of aspirin." King advised. "Don't let the door hit you where the kids want to kick you, bub."
As King left the room and walked down to the front entrance with Luz, that's when the principle looked at Maxwell with curiosity.
"What did you tell him?" asked Principle Bump.
Maxwell pulled him aside and whispered to him what he told King, leaving him surprised as if he heard something that was unexpected and surprising. He looked at Maxwell as if speechless from an unexpected reaction that teenagers hardly ever shown in school.
"You told him that?" said Principle Bump bewildered.
"And you tell no one." Maxwell instructed.
Maxwell left the room and walked outside to the front entrance where Eda, King and Luz stood. Maxwell came to Eda as they turned to see him, he was blushing deeply again as he looked down at his feet. Maxwell remembered the picture of Eda as a teenager and his heart raced from being love-struck once again, he smiled.
"How did his first day go?" asked Eda curiously.
Maxwell looked up and went forwards to wrap his arms gently around Eda to hug her, leaving her to blush at first but she smiled back as she placed her arms around him as well.
"Someone's missed Eda." said King giggling.
Maxwell looked up and planted his lips to Eda's lips in a kiss. Eda blushed with a surprised look at first but than closed her eyes and hugged Maxwell closer to her body as she kissed him back. They shared a kiss and eventually pulled their lips off in a loud pop. Eda pressed his head to her chest as she felt her heart racing a bit.
"I heard you took down a big old lizard with a hostile temper and that Luz proven Principle Dweebus wrong, big time!" said Eda feeling flattered.
"He apparently was a smoker and his smoking habit finally got him burned like barbecue on a grill." Maxwell chuckled.
"You should've seen the look on Bump's face when I proved him wrong, it was priceless." chuckled Luz.
"You two have all the fun." laughed Eda.
Luz pulled King up in her arms and King went inside Luz's backpack as they all mounted Eda's staff and they flew off towards home. Once they got home, and King got out of Luz's bag. Luz and King sat down on the couch to rest a bit while Eda and Maxwell joined them sat they too sat near them. They all sat there to rest a bit while Eda looked right at Maxwell and he looked back at her as he saw her kiss him once again on the lips as she returned the favor. They shared a romantic kiss as Eda shown a sign she missed Luz, King and Maxwell that day and Maxwell shown he really missed Eda that day.
