Eight years had passed since the last events where Kara had taken a bullet to protect Tess. Tess had disappeared and Alex, Jeremiah and Eliza had made the choice not to tell Kara about Tess' existence. Having lost their memory about her, all of them thought it was useless to add confusion to her mind. But Alex had made a promise to himself to find the woman she loved, after all, Tess was also her friend. But she didn't want to add to Kara's pain when she had no memory of it, so it was better to keep it that way so as not to create unnecessary pain for Kara.

In the meantime, Alex and Kara's parents had created the WD to monitor for potential alien threats and help their daughter Kara in her role as Supergirl. Alex had become the director.

Kara was preparing for her first day at Cat&Co Media. The Luthors had taken control of it and Cark had asked his cousin to infiltrate it to monitor their activities.

Lex was in jail, but Lionel Luthor was still there, as no one had so far managed to find enough evidence against him to knock him off his pedestal.

And with his daughter, Lena, now CEO of Cat&Co Media, Clark and Lois thought it would be nice to have Kara inside to monitor their actions. After all, she too was a journalist and had been a Supergirl for a few years already.

However, although Kara was generally happy in her life, inside she thought there was something wrong with her. She couldn't say exactly what, but it was as if a part of herself had disappeared, a part she could never find again. And she had long ago decided to put this feeling of abandonment behind her in order to devote herself fully to her work as a journalist and National City superheroine.

7:00 a.m. Kara was now getting ready for her first day at Cat&Co. She didn't know what to wear and her apartment had become a real battleground. But she finally found some stuff and dressed in super speed, causing a gust of wind inside her apartment so strong that she slammed the door in front of her sister who had just opened the door to her house.

Alex: - Kara! You could have been careful, I almost got the door in my nose!

Kara: Sorry sis, I don't really have time to chat today, it's my first day as an undercover journalist and if I don't want to make a bad impression in front of the new boss Lena Luthor I can't be late!

- Kara, you're already ten minutes late," Alex joked.

- Damn it!

On that note, she left in super speed to arrive barely three seconds later at the entrance of Cat&Co leaving Alex on the spot.

She had been living with Maggie for 4 years now and had been married for 2 years. It was a true happiness to have them in her life often thought Kara.

Arriving at the entrance of Cat&Co, Kara took the rubber band of her badge in her face and couldn't get rid of the metal gantry that wouldn't turn, provoking hilarity from the people around her.

Through a bay window on the second floor, a woman with long hair, tied up in a ponytail and emerald green eyes watched the scene unfold before her eyes with a smile on her face. Kara really hadn't changed, she thought. A smile that disappeared as soon as her secretary arrived in the office and took the woman out of her daydreams.

Kara, who had now taken her place at her new desk, placed her things on top of it, wanted to adjust the height of the chair, but it broke, causing the journalist to fall to the floor, again provoking general hilarity.

She started the day well, she thought, already twice that she was ashamed in front of people.

Then Ms. Luthor's secretary called Kara, who wanted to see her in her office. Kara thought it was not a good sign, first day, first delay, it was obvious that it was not a good thing. That said, Kara also thought this would be the first opportunity to x-ray the CEO's office to find something interesting that could help bring down the Luthors.

Kara swallowed her swallow, looking insecure and knocked on the door of her boss's office.

- Enter!" said the voice inside the office.

Kara opened the door and saw a woman with long black hair, tied up, with her back to her, looking out of her office window with her hands behind her back.

- Hello, Mrs. Luthor, I... I'm sorry for the delay, it won't happen again.

- I didn't bring you here for that, Lena said without turning around.

- But I like to receive in my office at least once the new employees who come to Cat&Co.

Then Lena Luthor turned around to look at Kara with her hands still behind her back.

Strangely Kara suddenly felt feverish, a shiver ran through her whole body and her hands became sweaty, she couldn't understand why and she froze without being able to say a single word.

- Miss Danvers?

- Miss Danvers? Are you all right, Miss Danvers?

- Uh... yes, excuse me, excuse me, it's weird I feel like I've seen you before but I can't tell you exactly where. Said Kara looking totally baffled and frowning.

Lena approached Kara and offered her hand to say hello and welcome her to Cat&Co.

When Kara took Lena's hand to shake it, an indescribable feeling ran through both women without either of them seeming to do so.

Lena asked Kara to sit down and they discussed Kara's future assignments as a journalist, welcomed her to the company and gave her a quick summary of how everything was going here. Kara took advantage of a moment of inattention from Lena to scan the room with her eyes and discovered in part of the wall a small rectangular box that appeared to be made of lead and that Kara could not see through. She was intrigued by this box and vowed to come back and see what it was. After all, why hide something in a lead box if not to protect herself from the vision of Superman or Supergirl.

The interview with Lena lasted about ten minutes and Kara came out of the office all upset. This feeling of emptiness that had haunted her for years, this sensation that was missing something in her life, this feeling had disappeared for a moment, she would not have been able to tell why.
