Chapter Ten: Little Ryan Wolfe

"So, I'm thinking that we make lasagna for dinner tonight," says Ryan. He continues, "I've got to get some minced chicken though, so we'll have to go to the supermarket." Natalia responds, "Alright. We can pick up something from the bakery section for dessert also."

Fifteen minutes later, they were at the supermarket getting minced chicken for the lasagna and a lemon meringue pie for dessert. When they got everything that they needed, they went to the cashier counter to check out their items. When they got outside the supermarket, they heard someone call out, "Little Ryan Wolfe, is that you?" Both Natalia and Ryan turned to the direction of the voice and saw two ladies in their sixties looking at them. Ryan recognizes one of them and greets her, "Hi, Mrs. Kendricks. This is my girlfriend, Natalia." "Hello," says Natalia as she waves at the two ladies. Mrs. Kendrick introduces the lady with her as her sister, Agatha Bates and tells them that she is visiting for her niece's (Mrs. Bates' daughter) wedding. Ryan says, "It was nice seeing you both." Mrs. Kendricks gives Ryan a hug and whispers to him, "You too, honey. That's a lovely girl you have there. She's a keeper." At her last sentence, Ryan blushes. Mrs. Kendricks and her sister waved goodbye and entered the supermarket. Once they were gone, Ryan and Natalia headed for Ryan's car. "Little Ryan Wolfe, huh?" inquires Natalia. Ryan says, "Yeah. Mrs. Andrea Kendricks was my neighbor growing up and her daughter used to babysit me sometimes. Mrs. Kendricks always called me that or little Wolfe." When he finished telling Natalia this, they had already put all of their purchases in the backseat of Ryan's van. Natalia pushed Ryan against the van and wrapped her arms around his neck, telling him, "I think it's cute, babe," then she kisses him.

Twenty minutes later, they got back to Ryan's house and took everything inside. By this time, it was after five in the evening and a few minutes later, Uncle Ron arrived, and Ryan started to cook dinner while Uncle Ron went to get freshened. Natalia stayed to help Ryan in the kitchen. When they had finished preparing everything, Uncle Ron came back downstairs as they were about to put the lasagna in the oven. Ryan asked Uncle Ron to look after it while he and Natalia went to shower. Natali showered first, followed by Ryan and then they went back downstairs. The lasagna still had thirty minutes of cooking remaining, so they sat at the kitchen table and asked Uncle Ron what he did for the day besides going to the country club. "Well, I spent most of my time at the country club and around two in the afternoon, I went home to get some more clothes and check on the water company's progress. They should be done by Tuesday. I also got another cellphone with the same number as before." They told Uncle Ron about their day, leaving out a certain activity. When Uncle Ron found out that Ryan met Mrs. Kendricks at the supermarket, he started to tell Natalia about when Mrs. Kendricks started calling Ryan little Ryan Wolfe and little Wolfe.

Uncle Ron began his story, "She was the first person to call him that, then all the neighbors started calling him that too. Most of them just called him little Wolfe. He was small for his age in size, but he was really smart. Still is, right kiddo." On his last sentence, Uncle Ron affectionately ruffled Ryan's hair. The timer for the lasagna went off and Ryan took out the lasagna while Natalia got plates and eating utensils. When Ryan placed the lasagna on the table, he went to get glasses and a bottle of wine. They ate quietly and when they were finished, Natalia cut three slices of the lemon meringue pie. Ryan came in to help her carry the plates to the table. They ae dessert and then watched television. About after nine at night, everyone decided to go to bed.
