Chapter 10: Denali

The house was silent.

It felt like all noise ceased the moment i set foot into the house.

It probably was exactly what happened. I could feel the tension in the air.

Carlisle guide me throughout the house, onto the living room where everyone is. His hand in my back, warms me a little, and i appreciate the small support he gives.

In the room we come face to face with the family, and some newcomers. The ones i was nervous to meet. Thankfully, Carlisle doesn't let the silence reign for long, and goes straight to the introductions.

"Cassidy, i would like to introduce you to my dear friends, Eleazar, Carmen, Kate and Tanya." Carlisle's voice floods through the quiet room. I feel everyones eyes on me.

The nervousness in my body was pretty obvious - by the look on their faces, they could tell it too. I take a deep breath to calm myself, and smile a little awkwardly.

Eleazar and Carmen, as a couple, were standing close to each other, holding hands. They were both dark haired, with a hint of an olive tone to their chalky complexions.

Next to the couple were two more vampire women. A petit one with an strawberry tint in her blonde hair, and the other taller woman, with pale blonde hair, straight as corn silk. They both look beautiful. They both look fierce.

They all look curious.

"Hello." It was a lame introdution, i know, but it's kind hard to think straight when there is so much vampires in one place openly staring at you.

I know i'm a vampire too, but it's still weird to assimilate that.

The first to answer was the man. Probably their leader too.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Cassidy. We've heard so many wonderful things about you." Said Eleazar. Kind eyes, and a sweet smile on his face.

"The pleasure is mine. Welcome to Forks." I try for pleasantries, but i was never really good at that. "How was the wedding? Did you enjoyed?"

"Oh, yes. It was beautiful, indeed. Alice outdid herself." He smiles more brightly, feeling the tension leave the air around us.

"It's a shame you couldn't participate, dear." Said Carmen, looking truly upset at my predicament.

The other two female vampires have yet to acknowledge me. By the look on their eyes, they were still accessing the situation. Me.

Emmett intervened then, talking loudly and making everyone laugh at his cheeky attitude. Everyone starts to talk again, going back to the conversation they where having before i came in.

"You are an enigma to me."

Eleazar surprise me by coming to stand by my side. His yellow eyes accessing me carefully, a curious look on his face. I could still feel two other pair of eyes on me coming from the other side of the room, but i choose to ignore it.

"Me? Why is that?" I ask him, a bit curious too.

"I am having troubles to determinate your powers. Your skills are different from everything i've ever seen before." He looks intrigued.

"You mean...you can feel them?"
"Eleazar special skill is to be able to know other vampire's hidden ability." Carlisle explain.

"So you have a sixth sense too." I joke, feeling better at the change on the atmosphere around us.

"Something like that." He chuckles lightly. "But, i believe your sixth sense is much bigger than just intuition.

"How so?"

"I feel...a hidden power on you...something, that you haven't realised yet."

"But, what could i possibly not know about myself?"

He stops then, looking at me so intently, it makes me wonder if he has understood the enigma he was trying to solve. The look in his eyes goes back to normal and i could see a bit of mischief in it aswell.

"That's for you to find out."

Honestly though, what could i possibly be missing?
