Stefan frowned as he made an attempt at making his way around the kitchen. It seemed to be that he was the only one that was being calm in this random situation, with everyone else around him with various states of distress with what happened. A blackout. That was what was making everyone this distressed at the moment, Stefan muttering a swear as he stubbed his toe on a counter. Feeling around told him that he was near the entrance to the kitchen and that meant that the light switch was there as well. Feeling the wall for what felt at way too long in his mind, he eventually found said switch and flicked it up and down several times. Nothing.

If his frown could go any lower, he felt like his mouth would end up falling off of his face.

"Okay, if we can all keep calm, we can get through this." Stefan called out to the other staff workers.

While they all stopped where they were, there were still a few who were muttering about their current predicament. He did his best to look around the room, despite the fact that his eyes have adjusted to the lack of light a good minute ago at the latest.

"Who has a phone?" Stefan asked, knowing full well that he forgot his in his locker that morning, knowing that at least one person had theirs on them, all the while mentally kicking himself, for the admittedly minor, slip up.

With a few 'heres' and 'yeses' came from around the room, a few of the workers taking out their phones as proof of them having said things at the moment.

"Good." He said, nodding "If you don't mind using the phone's flashlight, we can get ourselves out of here and into some more natural light."

The staff obliged with Stefan's request and soon, there were more then enough lights to go around for what he needed. It didn't take too long for the cooking staff for make their way out of the kitchen, with what looked like the customers in the Pirate Restaurant with their specific staff as well. Hopefully in an orderly fashion, or at least as close as possible for the customer's sake at least. With their little group in the Hotel's Lobby, it looked like that the restaurant staff and customers were hanging around the area, talking to each other about what happened and how it happened. The light from the Lobby's overly large windows were doing more then their fair share of letting some natural light into most of the large room. So, it looked like there was no storm in the area that would have caused the blackout. Which was a good thing to Stefan, as there was nothing else to really worry about, mostly due to the fact that the last major blackout that happened there oh so happened to have a pretty bad storm behind it that made some major damage to the hotel and potentially threatening the lives of some of the staff during the situation. Or at least that's what he heard from Kelly the previous Sunday's dinner with crazy situations that happened over the years at Surfer's Paradise. In his opinion, with all the things that happened in the Hotel, especially with Bummer's shit that he pulled off, it was a miracle that he was not only fired but sued and dragged through the mud several times. A firing even happened at one point, and the only reason that Bummer was hired back on was because of the fact that he could apparently talk to the seagulls that invaded the Lobby.

Now a days, Naomi seemed to have been covering for him and his dumbassery. The first thing that seemed to stick out to Stefan was the original hotel that turned into the Staff Lodge. How Ridgemount missed that was beyond him. Even with Bummer covering that major mess of an obvious death trap, Mr. Ridgemount would have, and really should have, come across the Staff Lodge at some point in Bummer's tenancy. Especially when Lo was staying there. As much of a brat she could get, especially at her worst, her dad was always there to bail her out of her situation. Well, except for that one time a couple of years back, but that was another story all together. Now a days she seemed to be getting herself a little more put together, if not fully getting rid of her personality completely. Or at least, that's what it looked like to Stefan at least. Scanning the group of people, he saw that they were mostly sticking to a small and concentrated ball as they spoke to each other about the current predicament, and there seemed to be no sign of the waiters and waitresses in that little ball. After dismissing the workers after it didn't seem to be at all necessary and letting them do what they wanted, Stefan set out to search for Kelly. Or Luke. Or Kahuna. Whomever came up first. If anyone knew what was going on it would be either one. Though with this current situation he figured that Kahuna would end up being the one knowing what was going on, though he wouldn't have minded if he ran into Kelly and Luke for his little adventure to find Kahuna and figure out this whole situation. Between the four of them, he figured that they could work out what was wrong and fix it. On top of that, doing anything at the moment was better then doing absolutely nothing and being bored for what could possibly be several hours and pretty much missing out on a work day. It seemed to be turning out to go in that direction in all honesty, given the biggest, obvious clue that hit the Hotel. It didn't seem to take long either to run into Luke and Kelly, both were at the front desk talking to Johnny, about the situation if he had to take a wild guess.

"Hey. How's it going? Any news?" Stefan asked, approaching the desk.

"Not yet." Johnny answered "We don't know what happened or how it even happened."

"At least we get a break from work." Kelly mused "At least for a couple of hours."

"Eh, we really should get lights up and running. Who knows what else is down right now?" Luke added

Stefan raised his eyebrow, asking Johnny if the lights were the only thing that was out at the moment.

"I think the heaters and refrigeration are out as well Computer's are out." Johnny replied "Nothing to worry about right now, Kahuna's on his way. Like food's gonna go bad in a couple of hours."

"That's good."

Now all that they had to do wait for him to arrive and save the day. Until then, it was really a matter of trying to fill their time and wait for Kahuna to do his thing. Which even at his fastest, could end up being a while. Not that he wasn't taking his time and dilly dallying. Things like this he did take pretty seriously, no doubt about that. Stefan did think that Johnny have a point with the food. Even milk and seafood wouldn't go bad in a couple of hours, and it wasn't like there was some sort of heat wave happening, it wasn't even hot outside. Today was one of the cooler days of the summer, and that was at six in the morning, where things were generally cooler than the rest of the day. Though to be fair, that was speaking in general terms. Stefan seemed fairly confident that this would be one of those nicer days in terms of the heat. Kelly and Luke ended up turning to each other to talk and pass the time, with Johnny turning his attention to the computers in front of him with a frown. With nothing to take a look at in front of him, he seemed a little dejected that he didn't have anything to monitor the situation with. At least visually, phones were a Godsend with comminution he had to admit. Despite the battery life that they had, as short at it felt at times.

Noting Fin, Reef and Lo charging into the lobby, through the side door that was near the automatic front door for emergencies like this, the three met up with Emma and Broseph to ask what was happening and if there were any updates on their end. Since being on the beach didn't need any electricity, there wasn't anything that went down, so Reef and Fin were fine on their end. Assuming that they were taking a quick break since they clearly weren't taking any lessons from any of the guests, more on their terms then the Hotel mandated break that they got during the day. Probably thinking that they would get away with it this time around, having a little bit of a point. It was then that Stefan knew. He had nothing to do to pass the time. Not even his phone seemed to be a really good way to pass the time, more or less not wanting to use up the phone's battery just in case he needed it for an emergency. And this seemed to be an emergency. Scanning the room, the people that were in the lobby were still in their little groups, not wanting to leave the area, for one reason or another. Stefan didn't really want to completely judge their reasons for staying put. Other then a potentially stuck automatic door blocking their way out, probably not knowing about an emergency manual door that was close to it. He guessed that it was for a situation like this. It made sense. Even if there wasn't a thing like that, Kahuna or someone else should be able to forcefully open the automatic door if it came down to it.

After taking a few steps in a random direction and still looking around the nicely lit lobby due to the sun, to take his mind off of things, Stefan suddenly felt a like he was being watched. Standing up straight, he gave the area a very quick scan. When he didn't see anything in front of him, he gave a small frown thinking that he was being pretty much paranoid. Shaking his head, a little, he turned around only to get the scare of his life when Robin was standing in front of him.

"Geez kid, you're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days!" Stefan said annoyed.

Robin frowned at his comment, then signed 'Oh, I'm sorry! Really!'

"Nah, it's all right. It's on me, I hate jump scares." Stefan commented, stumbling his words "Sooo, what's up?"

'Not much. Stuck in a blackout. Bored.'

"What was I expecting?" Stefan thought "I could say the same for most of the people here."

And as if his thoughts and wished were answered, Kahuna came strolling into the lobby with the automatic doors opened, as if it were nothing and an incredible normal day on the job. Right on cue in most people's opinions, and was greeted with lots of smiles. Johnny was following him, drilling him on what the likeliest case for the blackout was, Kahuna nodding as he followed along with what he was saying at the moment. Stefan strolled up to the both of them, being followed by Robin. Stefan didn't really mind too much, since there really wasn't that much to do at the moment, and they were basically on a 'free break' due to the situation. He didn't really blame the kid for doing that, not like there was much for him to do in the moment. When the two entered the conversation; it seemed like that it was going to be a brief one, from what Stefan heard at least and he was correct in thinking about what said conversation was.

"And that's that." Kahuna said "I think it was either a rat, a seagull or some faulty wiring that decided that today was the day that it kicked the bucket."

"All right. That's something." Johnny said, admittedly a little slowly. "How long is this gonna take?"

"It could be an hour, could be all day."

"Greaaaat."

"Now. If you'll excuse me, I have some wiring and stuff to fix."

Stefan glanced at the two of them, in between Kahuna talking with Johnny and packing up to get ready to go fix whatever was broken; a loud, very annoyed voice came down the hall and into the lobby.

"Bummer, of course." Stefan muttered

Looking over, doing his best to make sure that his staring would be noticeable, or at least stare too long in the first place. Half listening to what Bummer was ranting about, Stefan took a few steps away from Johnny and Kahuna who merely glanced at each other with some worry. Robin of course, followed Stefan closely. Nervously looking over at Bummer as he ranted at anyone and everyone. Made Stefan wonder why or how ranting like he did would help the situation, or where Naomi was to tell him to shut up and sit down. Wherever she was, the four wished she would hurry up and get to the lobby.

"Why isn't anyone doing anything? And why are the staff just standing around?" Bummer demanded, waving a hand at the glaring crowd.

"If you didn't notice, the lights are out." Stefan pointed out, before he could continue and say something potentially stupid. "Nothing sinister trust me. And as for doing something, Kahuna's on top of it."

"Kahuna? Kahuna of course." Bummer muttered

After all these years of knowing Kahuna, Stefan really figured that Bummer would have trusted him at this point with things like this.

"Who asked you anyways?" Bummer demanded

"You did. Unless you wanted the silence to answer." Replied Stefan with a small, smug smile.

When Bummer rolled his eyes, Naomi seemed to have rolled on in with Luke and Honey. More or less looking like they were taking their time getting to their destination.

"No problems here, is there?" Naomi seemed to drawl "I heard you ranting your head off at nothing Baumer."

"No ma'am." Bummer said, damn near muttering it. "Just ah, talking out loud."

"All right. I'll take your word for it." Said Naomi

She seemed to have sighed when she spoke, not fully believing what he just said.

"If you'll excuse me, I have some stuff to look over." Kahuna announced "If there are no more interruptions."

A few nods and 'yes' came from the others in the group. With that, Kahuna picking up his toolbox and marched off with his head held high. Glad to get away from the sudden awkwardness that seemed to appear out of nowhere.

"Now gang, if that's all. I think I have a few things to take care of that don't need any sort of electricity." Naomi announced.

"Should be." Johnny said "Kahuna's on the job."

"Indeed." Luke agreed, eyeing over Kelly's way

"And you have a shift as a life guard to get to." Naomi said, patting Luke on the shoulder.

He frowned as she said it. With a small huff, he made his way out of the hotel.

"And so do you Ripper my man." Naomi said to Ripper, glancing over Reef and Fin's way. "Being surf instructors doesn't need electricity, right?"

"Right…" Said Reef and Fin said in unison, almost dejected. The three treading out of the hotel.

"At least she's not on Bummer levels of asshollery over our jobs, admit it." Ripper whispered to the two as they left. With the two nodding a little in agreement.

The group at the front desk seemed to dissipate after the conversation, Bummer seemed to be muttering to Naomi on the side about what to do about the other workers. At the moment, it didn't seem like there was lot she could do. Other then getting them out of the lobby, it seemed like bad decorum to have a bunch of staff workers standing around. They didn't have to go into the dark restaurant or hallways, but they just couldn't stay there. Dismissing the group, she seemed to meander off with Bummer following.

Stefan gave an eyebrow raise at the two. Naomi did seem to take a more authoritative state, nowhere near the levels of Bummer. But to be fair, Stefan could admit that he was there long enough to be super stressed about his job. Despite being an ass at times. Maybe he could admit that he was reading a little too much into things, but he genuinely thought that Bummer 'caught feelings' for Naomi. He shook his head. That was ridiculous. Not to mention stupid.

"Man, that would be weird." Stefan thought, walking to where he knew the staff was allowed to hang out outside when on break. "Very weird. And I'm pretty sure a bad match on top of that."

It was then, when he placed his hand on the door to the outside break area, Stefan froze. He couldn't feel Robin's presence. Panicking, he spun around the area behind him to see no one. Being the last one to reach there, and in the back of the group, there was absolutely no way that Robin would be in the middle of the group. Or ahead of them. Robin was very clearly attached to him; anyone would agree to that in a heartbeat. Barring going to their individual houses to go sleep or do what they wanted to relax. Stefan did find it quite adorable, oddly enough. Reminded him of some of his younger cousins back home. He then shook his head.

"Now's not the time…" Stefan thought "I've gotta find where Robin's gone."

It was very odd of him to wander off in the first place. Where in the world would he go? Staring at the floor frowning, glancing between two small lines. Then he perked up, then went back to frowning. This time out of confusion.

"Would he really go follow Kahuna?" He asked out loud. "Why? There's nothing that Robin would find interesting with what Kahuna is doing anyways…"

Going on his hunch, he quickly walked off to where he last saw Kahuna was going. It should be fairly straight forwards to the electrical room. The basement. It was the likeliest place for a hotel like this to stick something like that. With the pace he was setting, it didn't take long for Stefan to find what he was looking for. Some plain, concrete stairs going downstairs.

"That kid's fast." Stefan thought "I'd gotta give him that."

Dashing down, swinging the door open; the basement was a whole lot darker than he expected. To be fair, it made sense being the basement and all. And a kid with a flashlight on his phone would have an easy time making his way through, with a good enough charge. Knowing Robin, his phone would have a full charge. Not using it during the work shift, like him. Still wanted him to be careful about the charge at the end of the day, but at the same time, knowing that it wouldn't go too fast. Taking his own phone out, checking the charge and seeing that it was good enough, he turned on his phone's flashlight.

"Here I go." He muttered "I better be right about this. Then again, I could try helping Kahuna."

Despite being a carpenter by trade before becoming a chef, he picked up a couple of things about how to work with electronics. At least he had a very cursory glance at it, as it didn't really interest him in the long run, with his younger brother being more interested in stuff like that. Kicking himself mentally for not paying more attention to what his brother was overall talking about. Putting that aside, there was potential trouble with a kid who was too eager to help out with something he may not know a lot about to be terribly helpful with.

"Not like I could be any more help." Stefan thought "If I even want to help out in the first place… so why am I thinking about it, makes no sense."

He then frowned. There was a point there, underneath it all. He hoped.

"Hey, quit shining that light everywhere. Especially in my eyes." Kahuna's voice came. Saying that last part with a little bit of humor.

"Oh, ah. Sorry." Stefan said a little bit sheepishly, lowering his phone.

"What'cha doin down here anyways?" Asked Kahuna

"I'm looking for Robin. I thought he came down here, following you for whatever reason."

"Robin? Ah. I didn't see him…"

"Oh. Either that's bad or he's not down here."

Kahuna nodded in agreement.

"Why I didn't text him from the word go is beyond me."

"Heh, there's that. Anyhoo, you may as well do that now and hang out here for a hot minute."

"Right."

He fumbled with his phone as Kahuna meandered around with his flashlight. With a few taps, the text was sent. Now all they had to do was wait, looking around the darkness around and at each other for a couple of moments before Stefan's phone dinged.

"What's the news?" Kahuna asked

"He's down here. Unfortunately, he says he got a little bit lost." Stefan answered frowning at the phone.

"I was pretty much on the right track in coming down here."

"Seems like it. Did he say where exactly he was?"

"Wait one seeeec…"

A few more taps later and shifting his weight from one foot to the other as they waited for an answer. One ping told them what they needed.

"The… furnace looking thing?" Kahuna asked, looking over Stefan's phone "Looks like he's not that far from here. How did he end up over there?"

Stefan shrugged. He was just as confused as Kahuna was, and a tad impressed at Robin's ability to find it. Especially with phone light. Kahuna gave a half shrug himself.

"You may as well come with me man." He said

"Right."

Kahuna, as relaxed as he was day in and day out, seemed to be completely confident on where he was going. It made sense, seeing as how many times he must have had to come down there to fix one thing or another. Stefan feeling himself relaxing a bit. It didn't seem to take terribly long to find the 'furnace place' that Robin described in text. Seeing his face brightening up at the sight of Stefan and Kahuna, nearly skipping their way in excitement. Quickly signing to Stefan in the low light about how he was sorry and he just wanted to help out Kahuna in fixing the lights. Somehow.

"Hey, hey it's okay kid." Stefan said, wanting to grab his hands but held himself back.

More then likely not wanting to freak Robin out with his action.

"Eh, I get it. You're an eager kid, and you wanna be helpful." Mused Kahuna "Ya know what, you wanna come help me out anyways? This could be an easy job anyways."

Robin nodded his head in excitement and Stefan threw up his hands in mock annoyance. Kahuna grinned.

"All right, let's go gang!"

Just as fast as he and Kahuna found Robin, the trio quickly found the offending area that seemed to cause this whole blackout. Robin grinning from ear to ear like he was ten years younger, despite not really doing anything but hold a light, as Kahuna explained his process of how to fix wiring, how to tell what was wrong with what, what to watch out for, and all of that. Stefan somewhat tuning out the explanation of what was going on, waiting patiently for the end.

When he was really deep into thought, Kahuna 'ha-ed' in success, making Stefan jump a little bit. Then looked around, blinking. Eyes adjusting to the light.

"Light." Saying the obviously bluntly.

"Yes siree." Kahuna replied. "And that's how you fix it kid! Now let's get out of here gang, and thanks for the company."

"Looks like it's back to work kid."

Robin nodded, giving a small smirk that seemed to say 'I don't want to, but I guess I will.' Stefan smiled back. It may have been a few hours at best, but a break from the craziness was a break.
