I AM IN LOVE with this story and you guys!

CHAPTER 10

Monday Blues

I hate it when he is already gone. I miss having his arms around me so much. I was getting lost in my own thoughts, thinking about last night. I did unbutton that gray dress shirt to a bare chest. His blonde chest hairs on his tanned body makes him glow in the moonlight. I love how he unzipped my dress and caressed my shoulders. He makes me feel like I am the goddess of love.

Snap out of Zoe. Why didn't he wake me up? I need to find out about Lavon and Ruby. I pulled my hair up and put on my running shorts and tee and went for breakfast. When I walked in, Wade was cooking.

"What are you doing?"

"It seems that Lavon had a guest last night so I thought I would just scramble some eggs. I was going to bring it down so we could have breakfast at your place. Don't be getting any ideas girl, probably better we eat here anyway."

"Is it Ruby or AB?"

"He didn't say but I would assume Ruby. Just sent me a text saying he wouldn't be cooking breakfast, but the pastries will be here."

Wade always seems so at ease. The amount of work he gets done in a day is hard to fathom.

"Wade, what time will you pick me up to go to your dad's?"

"About 6:30. Doc, I gotta run to work. See ya tonight. Have a great day at work."

He kissed me, then twirled me around.

"You are in a good mood for someone that didn't have sex last night."

"Making you happy is all I need baby."

The office was still bustling. When I told patients that Wade and I were going to the tournament this week, news spread like wildfire. I was going to be really busy until we left Tuesday night which was good since I would be missing three days of work.

Wade's ex-wife Tansy came in. I think she came in to give me a speech about he would probably hurt me. She ended up telling me how good of a guy he is. She told me her side of their marriage which she attributed to teenage crazy. She admitted that she loved Wade but he never felt the same. Tansy was one of those girls that was really pretty but not intimidating. Blonde hair, blue eyes, medium height with a beautiful smile.

I told her that I could see why he would be attracted to her. I also told her that I know Wade would do anything for her, to this day. One thing, I have learned about Wade Kinsella is that he will do anything for those he cares about. She agreed and said that he has been talking about her since the first day he met.

We finished the required physical for cosmetology school.

As she was leaving, she turned with those bouncy blonde curls and said" I heard you were going with Wade to the state tourney."

I nodded.

"Not sure if you knew this but Wade could have played college basketball at any school in the SEC. He turned down scholarships to take care of his dad. I just want to make sure you understand. He could have been anything he wanted. He chose to take care of his family. That is the guy you are dating."

"No, I didn't know, thanks for telling me. Tansy, I hope we can become friends."

She shook her head,

I have grown accustomed to everyone knowing everyone else's business in Bluebell. Sometimes it was useful and at other times totally annoying. On one hand Tansy's visit told me that Wade had told her his feelings for me early on. On the other hand, she was someone that he cared deeply for which could be trouble under certain circumstances.

Addy sent in another patient. A cute little girl, Annabelle. Her mother and I went over her symptoms: Earache, difficulty breathing and loss of appetite. I started the exam checking her eyes, mouth, glands.

I said, "her lymph nodes are a little swollen."

Then I checked her breathing, when I raised up her shirt. I saw a bruise.

"Annabelle, how did you get this bruise on your back, it is toward your side?" I barely touched the area.

"I don't know."

"Did you hurt yourself fall off the monkey bars at school, anything like that?"

"I don't think so."

Her mom interrupted. "Can I see? She has been sick, so she hasn't been to school much and mainly been laying around the house.

"Ok, she definitely has an ear infection so we will treat that with antibiotics. We will give her breathing treatment here in the office to open her airways up. I notice in her chart she and an ear infection last week and flu like symptoms three weeks ago is that correct?"

"Yes Dr. Hart."

"I am going to run some blood tests to see if there is anything else going on. It will take a couple of days."

As I was drawing the blood, I needed to distract her ,and princesses were always the best way.

"Annabelle, if you feel anything at all that is different. You tell your mom, dad, teacher or me. Who is your favorite princess?"

"Anna from Frozen, you look like her Dr Hart."

"Oh, I love her too. My favorite is Belle from Beauty and the Beast. On your way out, make sure to get two suckers on the way out. Mrs. Harper, I will be in touch on Wednesday or Thursday."

"Thank you, Dr. Hart."

"Hey Brick, can I see you for a second."

"What is it Dr. Hart? In case you haven't noticed we are swamped."

I shut the door and we went over Annabelle Harper's case.

"Brick, I know you think I get ahead of myself sometimes, but I did see cases like this in New York."

"Dr. Hart, let's wait and see what the test results tell us and we will go from there."

Brick patted me on the back and walked silently out of the room.

I had four or five more patients and if I am being truthful, I can't remember a single one of them. I walked out of the practice in a complete daze. I ended up at the Rammer Jammer.

Unfortunately, Wade was already gone. I needed a drink, a really big drink. Shelley made me a Manhattan. It was gone in like a few seconds.

"Shelley, another"

"Is everything okay with you and Wade Zoe?"

"Yeah, perfect actually?"

"Well why are sitting here when you are supposed to be going to his daddy's house for dinner?"

"Bad day, the Manhattan please?"

She served me another. It took a few minutes for that one.

"Shelley, one more"

"Doc? You okay?"

How did you know I was here?" He turned his head toward Shelley. "Oh, I see, you are my babysitter."

"No Doc, I am your boyfriend, and we have plans. Let's get back to the house and I will make you a much better drink than Shel.

"Okay but only if you promise."

"I promise Doc"

He kissed me and held my hand out the door. We arrived at my house so I could change. As we were walking up to the door , I heard Wade's voice.

"We are going to my dad's so if you want to drink then we will have to cancel on Dad."

"No, no, we can go."

"Doc, tell me what is wrong?"

"I can't."

"Why"

"Doctor patient confidentiality"

"Come 'ere baby"

He wrapped his arms around me so completely. At first my arms hung by my sides. My mind and body kind of numb. It was like I was talking to myself from above. Could I be wrong? This can't be. Slow down Zoe. Wait until it was confirmed or ruled out.

"Baby, you can tell me. You know you can trust me with your life. I wouldn't jeopardize your career."

"All I can say is a little girl may be really sick."

"I love you Zoe and I will do whatever you need. If you need to cancel with Earl, we can cancel. Or if you want to be alone and me to go?"

Earl had a surprise for us. He had already began cooking the fried chicken and green beans but said we needed to make the mashed potatoes. Zoe and I went in and peeled the potatoes. Dad enjoyed seeing us in the kitchen together.

"Wade can you give me and my future daughter in law a minute alone?"

"Dad, we are just dating, can you please stop, today is not a good day."

"Zoe, is there something I can do for you?"

"No, I will be okay."

"Did my son do something?"

"No, we are really good. It is work"

"What did that bastard Breeland do?"

"It's a patient Earl, I can't talk about it."

I don't know what it is about the Kinsella men, but I feel like they unlock something in me. I pour my soul out to them.

"Earl, do you pray?"

"Yes, I do."

"Earl, will you pray with me? I have never prayed"

I felt eyes on us, and I knew Wade was watching.

"Dear Lord, thank you for all that you have given us. Please give us strength to handle things that may happen in our lives. Please surround us with love. Please bless Dr. Harts patient. In Jesus name we pray. Amen"

"Amen" said Wade

Thank you, Earl. I feel better already.

Wade came up behind and nuzzled me in my neck. He knows instinctively what I need. Funny but a little nuzzling was much better than a kiss at this moment.

"You are surrounded by love. Dad and I will smother you with love. Alright the potatoes are ready to mash. Do it with me. Take the masher and just push and turn, push and turn. I will add the milk. Yeah, that looks about right. Some butter, salt and pepper. Alright Dad, its ready."

We brought everything to the table and passed everything family style.

"Earl, this fried chicken is as good as the diner. What was it, Sunset Bay?" You two are amazing cooks."

"So, Zoe tells me you two are taking a trip to the basketball tournament."

"Yeah. It should be fun. Plus, Doc will get to see more of Alabama and make more friends from Bluebell."

"Does Zoe know about you?"

"What do you mean? About Mr. Basketball, Earl?"

"Yeah, this one here was a terrific athlete. Basketball though is where he excelled."

"We went to the game last week and I saw his picture. He didn't tell me. I doubt he would have if I hadn't seen the picture. He is the most, humble man I know."

"Oh Doc, you have done it now, I will remind you of that every time you call me cocky, sure of myself, etc."

"Earl, next week, we are doing photo albums. I will clean up the dishes."

"Dad you need me to do anything before Zoe and I go? We have to pack for our trip."

"Yeah, I need help changing the filters. Also, do you think you could help me paint in here. I want it to look nice for Zoe."

"Sure, we can start next week sometime. I think first we need to get rid of some things and organize. Zoe will be glad to help with that."

"Wade, you ready?"

"We are almost finished Doc."

She looked up, his shirt riding high showing his muscles around his lower abs. I can't believe he doesn't work out.

"Bye Earl." "Bye Dad"

'Bye kids have fun on your trip."

"Wade, I am mentally just done. Can you just hold me tonight?"

"Of course, I have told you Zoe, that is not what I want from you. I want all of you which includes the times, we just need to be held."

"Did you ever hear from Lavon?"

"No did you?"

"No, umm. We will find out tomorrow."

"Scootch over here girl. Love ya Doc."

"Love you"
