Sry for the huge delay. It is currently difficult for me to get into the mindset, required to continue this story, but I don't plan to abandon it. I don't know how long it will take for the next one to come out.
Chapter 10 – Kleinhammer
- At the basement -
*…* = talking with psychic powers
Farseer Faeryna
Faeryna was sitting motionless, in a meditating pose in deep thought, her spear on her laps. Earlier on, she noticed that the warp had changed, but she didn't have the time to think about it in depth. Now she sat there, shocked. The warp is calm. She could not sense any of the four ones. It seems the Mon- Alexanders was right, they are indeed in the past.
She had to remind herself to stop using the term Mon-keigh, when thinking about Alexander, because she was sure that it would be detrimental in the future.
The diplomatic meeting with the giant and the Inquisitor appeared to have gone well. Alexander proceeded to linger on for some time after, telling them that he was in need of some rest and that they should hold their promises of cease fire for the foreseeable future. He did not try to clean the basement of broken glass and fruits as he was clearly not trusting us, holding our fire. Then, when he left, she could hear him placing something heavy on the trapdoor.
Outside, she heard the gentle noises that appeared when wraithbone was manipulated. Luckily, some of her warriors strode other paths than the path of the warrior before. And it just so happens that some had experience as bonesingers and were capable of building shelters and fortifications. That increased their chances in a defensive battle against the Imperials, but she still doubted that they could withstand a determined assault, without being reduced to a few members.
Back to topic. She could not divine the future anymore, but the current stillness of the warp meant, that she could theoretically gather much more power for her psychic skills without endangering herself. She was tempted to open her mind to the warp, but she decided not to. She could not abandon all caution, not now, she thought.
Her mind drifted back to her current situation when she noticed footsteps approaching her tent. Exarch Lirye entered the tent, bowed, and opened her mouth to speak.
"As requested, I have prepared a small squad and we are currently waiting for you to join us." Lirye said.
Faeryna had instructed her old friend to prepare a squad for a scouting mission, as she was sure that the Imperials would not break the ceasefire and risk provoking the giant. At least not yet.
Alexander Schnee
I closed the trapdoor and sealed it with a sack of potatoes. That was too much, even for me to handle all at once. For a moment I thought about the possibility that my mind got tired of living all alone and just invented these beings out of boredom. That would also explain, why I knew the names of their factions, but then I dismissed this thought when I thought about the havoc in my cellar.
I need some sleep, that's for sure, I whispered to myself out loud, while walking up to the table and taking a half empty bottle of wine. Then I stopped. I stared at the bottle before placing it back down. There is no way I will blind my senses with alcohol now, of all times.
I entered my sleeping chamber with rifle in hand after making sure that my fireplace was burning fine. There I found the drawer where I keep my ammunition in case of emergency. I only had two magazines left and it did not help me with feeling secure, so I reloaded my gun, closed the door shut and took my rifle into bed. There is now way I will go down defenceless.
