Who's Your Daddy?
Literally, no one dared to speak a word as Marcus, continuing his fake nice act, said, "My beloved daughter. Oh, how I missed you so much. I was worried you perished after you disappeared...right after your mother. but it makes me happy to know you are safe and unharmed." Laguna nervously nodded, desperately trying not to show any fear, but failing miserably, as she said, "It's...good to see you too...father." Before she could even protest, Marcus had brought her into an uncomfortable hug, but what no one knew was that while in his arms, hidden from view, she could feel her father's thumb going over the lettered scars on her back. Almost as if he was silently telling her that he was still "her master." Laguna silently whimpered from his touch as Aggie became furious, reaching into her hair to grab her staff and shoot Marcus away from her. Trollex was able to stop her halfway as he said, "Hold on. Not yet, Aggie. He doesn't seem to be hurting her, but be cautious." Aggie, as much as she wanted to zap Marcus far away, knew Trollex was right. She placed it back in her hair as she whispered, "Fine, but if he even lays a hard finger on her, I won't be afraid to use Freezing Notes and send him far away." Soon, Marcus let go of Laguna as she quickly stumbled back as Poppy stepped forward, forcing a smile as she said, "Hello, Marcus. It's...a pleasure to meet you. I'm Queen Poppy, and we welcome you to Trollstopia." Marcus crossed his arms and said, "The honor is mine," before Branch came forward, asking, "What brings you here anyway"? Marcus grinned as he said, "Well, the trolls back at Techno Reef never seem to stop yammering about this place and how it's so "grand." So, I decided to take some time off and see for myself what's so special about this place." Delta then came forward, doing her best not to get mad and attack him, saying, "Well, sir, you're in faw a treat. Trollstopia's one av the most diverse ayn' harmonious villages around." Seeing her father temporarily distracted, Laguna stepped back and tried to bury her face in McJagger's chest out of fear and nervousness as her boyfriend placed a caring/protective arm around her.
Seeing her shaken to the core, Essence decided to help Laguna and came towards her, saying, "Laguna, I need a quick favor. Quincy and I forgot to bring our instruments back to Vibe City. Would you and McJagger be so kind to bring them to the castle"? Laguna turned her head to look at Essence and, while showing a small sign of relief in her eyes, shakily nodded yes as McJagger said, "Will do, Essence. You can count on us." McJagger helped lead Laguna out of the crowd in hopes that Marcus did not notice her. However, just before they were long gone, Marcus caught a glimpse of Laguna walking away with McJagger and made a mental note while Delta was talking. Then, Trollex came forward and said, "Well, I'm sure you are familiar with us, Marcus, but let us introduce you to another vital leader of Trollstopia. The Master of All Music, Aggie." Aggie forced a smile and pretended to be her friendly self as she said while shaking Marcus's hand, "Hi Marcus. It's a pleasure to meet you. We hope you find your stay enjoyable." Marcus did not show any emotion as they shook hands. Meanwhile, his eyes scanned her up and down as she asked, "What kind of troll are you? Some hybrid or something"? Everyone gasped at the hurtful comment as sid whispered to Dante, "Dang, this guy is really cold," with Dante whispering back, "You said it, Sid." Aggie did her best to swallow the comment down and say, "Well, I'm a Magical Musical Troll, sir. See, I'm like this because thanks to the loving support and friendship from the leaders, I was able to gain my true colors and got these new body parts as a result." Marcus rolled his eyes as she said, "So, you're basically some musical experiment"? Aggie felt her heart shatter as she responds shakily, "No, it's just how I was born and-," but Marcus interrupted her by saying, "Sorry, not interested," and walked past her.
In the crowd, Melody got over her initial fear of Marcus and grew angry with how he spoke up Aggie as she ran and stood in front of him, saying, "Hold on! You may talk like that back home, but here, we all live in harmony and kindness. We all treat each other equally with respect." Marcus scoffed and replied, "Well, when you're a shark wrestling manager, there's no such thing as "kindness" or "friends." So get that through your cotton candy brain, little girl," as he poked Melody in the chest pretty hard. While Melody did not seem to be hurt too badly, the finger poke did hurt a little, despite showing her toughness. That was easily seen when Melody winced in pain after Marcus turned his back away from her as Evie nervously ran over, hugging Melody's prosthetic leg and saying, "Are you ok, big sissy"? Melody nodded and said, "I'll live," before muttering quietly, "But he won't if he hurts Aggie, Laguna, or anyone else." Marcus then faced Twilight again, asking, "So, since I'll be staying here for a while, I assume I'll be staying at your place, honey"? Twilight nervously replied, "Actually, hon...I've been staying at Laguna's place since I came here." Marcus seemed to get excited, though no one could tell as he said, "Oh? Then, I'm sure our daughter would not mind if I stayed with you both"? Finn cracked his knuckles and said in a dark voice, "Oh no, he doesn't," and had to be held back by the Snack Pack. Smidge, Biggie, DJ, Satin, Chenille, and Cooper all struggled to make sure Finn did not do anything drastic. Luckily for them, Marcus did not seem to notice or even hear this little altercation go on as Twilight was trying to find the right words to respond to Marcus's offer, saying, "W-Well, here's the thing, Marcus. Ya see-," but he interrupted her, saying, "It's settled. I'm sure Laguna won't mind at all. It'll give us the chance to "reconnect" as a family."
Branch whispered to Poppy, "Poppy, do something quickly," as Poppy spoke up, saying, "Actually, we have a guest pod for all visitors to stay in for the duration of the visit. You can stay there, Mr. Tidepool." Marcus seemed to ignore her as he said to Twilight, "Let me just grab my things from the bus. Then, you can lead me to this "cozy abode" our daughter is staying in." He did another forceful kiss with Twilight before walking away, heading towards his bus. Aggie allowed a few tears to fall as Trollex brought Aggie into a hug, stroking her rainbow hair in an attempt to help Aggie calm down as Val commented while hugging a shaky Melody, "That guy's the definition of pure evil." Trollzart added, "Yes, he is. We must kick him out at once." While Branch was rocking Harmony in her stroller, trying to get her to fall asleep, Poppy then commented, "I feel the same way guys, but...we can't just kick him out of Trollstopia, especially with everything we just told him about this place. Besides, if we do, he'll know something's up, and Twilight, Finn, and Laguna could be in even more danger." Stereo then mentioned, "But we can't just let him stay with the poor girl," as Synth added frantically, "Yeah! What if he attacks her again? Or does "it" to her again? Or even to his own wife"?! Essence then commented, "While we all feel strongly about this, Poppy does raise a good point. He will become suspicious if we tell him he can't stay here. Especially with his family." Holly stomped her hoof as she shouted in frustration, "Dang! But we can't let him wander willy-nilly ayn' have ayy free chance av having his way with Laguna again"! Trollex then spoke up, saying, "For now, the best thing we can do is just try to act nice and allow him to stay until we can come up with a plan to deal with him." Val rolled her eyes and scoffed, "No way! I'm not going to be nice to that trollstard, even if you pay me"!
Aggie finally seemed to calm down as she stated, "Guys, I hate him as much as you do. We all do but think of this from Laguna's perspective. Would you want to live in fear, knowing that your father could attack you at any moment if he found out everyone knew about his secret"? Everyone looked at one another as Low-Note Jones answered, "Aggie does bring up a good point. Besides, it'll only be a few days...I'm hoping, at least." Melody even added, "Aggie's right, guys. We have to do this for her safety, Finn's safety, and Twilight's safety. We don't have to force ourselves to befriend him, but we have to put up a good act until he leaves. Or at least until we can come up with a plan to get rid of him." Branch then spoke up, saying, "So, does anyone actually have a plan"? Before they could answer that question, the group saw Marcus coming towards Twilight as he said, "Alright, dear. I am set. Lead the way." Twilight nodded and nervously looked back at the leaders, saying, "I'll see ya later, mates," as the pair started to walk towards Techno Lagoon. Everyone watched them leave as Poppy commented, "It's going to be a long few days." Suddenly, Aggie felt herself becoming dazed as she had another vision. This time, it played what looked like Melody barging into the meeting room and shouting, "Hold everything for one minute, and no literal meaning"! Once Aggie returned to her senses, she said to herself, "Wonder what that was about." Back in Vibe City, McJagger and Laguna were bringing the funk leader's instruments to the castle's music room as McJagger said while carrying the tuba, "Man, this thing is heavy. At least we're building up our upper body muscles from this, huh Laguna"? He turned his head and saw Laguna looking down at the floor solemnly while carrying Quincy's guitar. McJagger felt really bad for Laguna, especially because she was probably experiencing a million emotions right now, and one definite feeling was pure terror. They made it to the music room and placed the instruments inside.
Once Laguna placed the guitar where it belonged, she heard McJagger approach her as he asked, "Hey...Laguna baby...you feeling ok"? Laguna turned around to face him and shook her head as he then asked, "You...wanna talk"? Laguna nodded as she said, "Honestly...I just...it's what happened 7 years ago all over again. I'm terrified to walk alone! I have to keep watching my back because he could suddenly appear out of nowhere! I'm terrified to sleep alone in my own room tonight! I just...I just can't, McJagger! I can't go through it again! Never again! I'd die if I ever go through something like that again! And what if he decides to do something sick to my mom?! Or my brother if he finds him?! It'll be my fault if they get hurt or worse"! While shouting, Laguna had grabbed the ends of McJagger's jacket and started tugging them, shaking McJagger a little as he tried to stay upright. When Laguna realized how she was acting, she let go of McJagger's jacket and stepped back, saying as hot tears began to stream down her face, "I...I'm sorry. It's just...I'm so scared." McJagger lifted one of his paws to wipe away Laguna's tears as he said in a soothing voice, "I feel your fear, baby. It'll all be ok. You got me, the leaders, the ambassadors, the other delegates, and your other friends here to help you. We're all going to make sure you, Finn, and your mom are safe. We'll do everything we can to make sure what you went through never happens again. You can count on us." Looking up at McJagger's eyes and feeling his hand hold hers, Laguna started to feel a bit better as McJagger then suggested, "How about you stay with me for the night, Laguna? It might help you feel a little more comfortable." Laguna thought for a minute before saying, "I'd love to, but...I don't want to leave my mom alone with him. She shouldn't have to deal with him alone, even if he still really terrifies me."
McJagger seemed to understand as he said, "If you're sure about this, then ok. But if you feel like you are in danger, don't be afraid to give a shout and call me or anyone else. We'll all be right here," as he pointed to Laguna's heart, adding, "If you ever need us." Laguna blushed a little as McJagger brought her head forward and kissed the top of her head before both trolls hugged one another tenderly. In his arms, Laguna felt safe, like all the world's troubles seemed to vanish and disappear. Both trolls remained hugging for a while until a new voice piped in, saying, "Aw! Romance saves the day again"! Both trolls became startled as Laguna let out a small shout in fear as McJagger turned his head to see who it was. To their relief, it was only Cooper, who said, "Apologies for scaring you. Mom sent me to make sure you two lovebirds were doing ok." Laguna nodded and said while placing a hand over her heart, "A little startled by your sudden appearance, but other than that, I'm doing...ok." McJagger placed a hand on her shoulder as he asked, "So, do you...wanna head back"? Laguna thought for a minute before looking at Cooper, who said, "Oh, don't worry. He left with Twilight, who was showing him the way to your house, where he'll be staying for his visit"! Laguna's eyes widened in shock as she shouted, "What?! He's staying at my house"?! Cooper covered his mouth as he responded with, "Oops. I probably wasn't supposed to say that." Laguna's body tensed up, and she became nervous again as McJagger brought her close to him again, saying, "Hey, hey, don't worry. You don't have to stay in the house while he's there."
Suddenly, a funk troll came by, presenting an envelope as Cooper accepted it, reading it while saying, "It's addressed to you, Laguna." Laguna grabbed the letter and opened it, revealing a written note, her facial expression becoming tenser with each line she read. When McJagger asked, "What does it say," Laguna replied, "My father...he wants me to come home. He's cooking a "family dinner" in honor of him getting to see us after many years of separation." Cooper smiled and said, "Dinner sounds good"! But McJagger felt unsure, saying, "I don't know. He might be planning to put something in your food, so it either knocks you out or renders you unable to fight back." Laguna looked at the letter and replied, "That's what I'm worried about. But if I'm not there, my dad will think something's up and probably hurt my mom and...and then..." She started to shiver as if she was cold, and she began to glow in her signature neon colors. McJagger thought about this for a minute before saying, "I've got an idea that might work." Laguna and Cooper came close to him as he whispered his plan into their ears. A while later, Trollex and Aggie were swimming to Laguna's house in Techno Lagoon as Trollex asked Aggie, "Are you sure this is going to work"? Aggie nodded and replied, "Absolutely. Besides, we have to do this. Laguna is counting on us." Trollex and Aggie found an open window and slowly went up to it, barely peeking their heads up to look. Aggie pulled out a periscope, saying, "Glad Melody let me borrow this," and used it to look inside carefully. Trollex pulled out a pair of binoculars to look as he whispered, "What do you see"? Inside, Marcus was in the kitchen, preparing what looked like lasagna with shrimps. Aggie, seeing this, replied, "So far, he's cooking a lasagna. He's putting the shrimps on. Now...he's grating the cheese. He's reaching for some tomato sauce...wait a minute. Trollex, look"! both trolls looked and saw that as Marcus opened the jar of tomato sauce, he poured it into the bowl and then pulled out a small white jar that said, "Sleeping pills." Trollex whispered, "Jackpot," as they saw Marcus open a couple of pills and pour the powdery dust into the sauce before fully mixing it up, saying, "This sauce will literally knock Twilight's feet off. One taste and she's out like a light."
Trollex and Aggie grew furious and were ready to barge in when they heard what sounded like a phone ringing. Marcus clipped on his walkie talkies and said, "Hello. Hey, Jim. What?! What do you mean he's got the fin flakes?! Well, get him some ointment! I don't know"! As Marcus was taking the call, he swam away into another room to speak privately as Trollex then whispered, "Now's our chance," as he and Aggie swam inside. Aggie quickly grabbed the bowl of sauce with the sleeping pills as Trollex quickly grabbed another bowl and poured more sauce into it, saying, "Hopefully, he won't know the difference." He placed a clean whisk in the new bowl before he and Aggie swam away with the contaminated sauce. To their luck, as Aggie watched through the periscope again, Marcus came back after his call and mixed away, not knowing that his actual sauce got replaced. With success, Aggie and Trollex both returned to the surface and brought the contaminated sauce to the leaders, telling them what Marcus had planned to do. Everyone was horrified as Barb said, "Seriously?! How sick is he?! Drugging his own wife to be able to try and attack Laguna without anyone knowing?! That's low, even for most bad people"! Branch added, "I agree, but I am glad you both were able to catch him and stop it in time before any troll got hurt." Aggie then said, "Actually, thank McJagger. When he told us about the letter Laguna got, he told us to go see if he would try anything on the food to help him gain an "advantage" over the situation." Delta got up, saying, "Ay swear, the next time ay see his face, ay'm sending him ayy kick that'll launch him inta space"! Poppy then mentioned, "Great work, you two," as Trollex then asked, "So, has any troll come up with an idea to deal with him yet"?
Quincy spoke up, saying, "We're hosting a leaders/ambassador meeting tonight to discuss that very notion. Hopefully, we can come up with something quick so that we can put it into immediate action," as Essence added, "I agree. I can't bear to see Twilight, Laguna, or Finn suffering anymore." In Trollstopia, Finn was pacing back and forth, trying to calm his nerves, but nothing seemed to be working. Then, he was approached by Sid as the Flexi-Troll commented, "If you keep pacing like that, you're going to create a trench." Finn rolled his eyes and said snarkily, "I'm not in the bloody mood for your antics, Sid. So, get to the paint and tell me what you want"! Sid sighed and replied, "Look, this is going to sound weird, but...I want to help you." Finn scoffed and sarcastically replied, "Yeah, right." Sid huffed and said, "I do! I know you don't trust me yet, but the way I see it, two things can go down. I can leave you alone, and your father ends up finding you and possibly kills you. Or, you let me help you stop him and make sure he doesn't hurt your mom or your sister." Finn thought about this for a minute before he sighed and replied, "Ok, fine. What do you have planned, Flexi-Troll"? Sid ushered him to follow, saying, "Come with me to Rock Hollow." Reluctantly, Finn followed Sid to Rock Hollow and into the spare bedroom he was offered as Sid went to fetch something under his bed. Watching this, Finn asked, "So, what exactly do you have planned"?
Sid then crawled out while saying, "If he does anything, you can keep him at bay with this," and showed Finn the item in his hand. It was a black, sleek, fully loaded shotgun. Finn was startled as he said, "What the bloody heck is that"?! Sid replied, "This is something called a shotgun. Flexi-Trolls keep these to defend ourselves or kill enemies. It's quick and can be quite a bloodfest to see." Finn was both scared to the core, and at the same time, a bit intrigued since he's never seen an object like this before. He asked, "How does it work," as Sid replied, "Let me show you." He led Finn deep into the forest and said as they approached a bush, "Ok, now, you see that huge Grossum over there"? Finn peaked his head and saw a large Grossum walking around, as he said to Sid, "Yeah. What about it, mate"? Sid then responded with, "Now, watch this. How this works is that you first want to find a spot to aim. In between the eyes or near the heart are the best places since the victim usually dies a lot quicker. Once you pinpoint your target of choice, you lift it to your face, the long end facing your opponent, angle it, and wait." Sid got the shotgun set and waited for the perfect moment to shoot. He then whispered, "When the timing's just right, you just click this little thingamajig here, and..." When the Grossum was right where he wanted it, Sid pressed the button down and, with a loud BANG, fired one shot from the shotgun as it hit the Grossum right between the eyes, instantly killing it. Finn's eyes widened, and his jaw dropped to the floor in absolute disbelief as Sid walked over to the now dead Grossum and tapped it, saying, "See? Works every time." Finn was speechless and had no idea how to react. While it was intentionally horrifying to witness, it also looked...a bit relieving.
Sid came back to Finn as he said, "So you see, if that trollstard slime tries anything towards you, your mom, or your sister, just use this shotgun, and he'll be running away with his tail between his...tail." Finn looked at the shotgun while shaking in nervousness as he said, "While that does seem to be a viable backup plan, I have to say...NO WAY IN HECK, MATE! I'm not gonna resort to murdering him, even if he's a ripper of a monster"! Sid rolled his eyes before saying, "I thought you'd say that because this is where my idea comes in. You don't have to do it, but I can if I change into you." Finn was in disbelief as he asked, "So, hold on a bloody minute...no pun intended. Your idea is to become me and act like me, protecting yourself with that murder weapon, and trying to scare him off"? Sid shrugged and replied, "In a simpler sense, yes. Though I still think killing him would be our best opinion, even I have to admit...that's a bit extreme. So, this will only be for dire emergencies, and when that DIRE emergency happens, I'll change into you and scare him off." Finn thought about it for a minute before saying, "But how are you going to know if that "thing" needs to be used"? Sid shrugged and stated, "Well, since you were able to "hide" from others, no offense, you can follow him and keep watch. See if he starts doing any "suspicious behavior," and act if necessary." Finn didn't know what t say as he commented while awkwardly scratching the back of his head, "Wow, Sid...I can't believe I'm saying this...but...that's really nice of you." Sid grinned as he responded with, "Well, even though I'm still not fully good yet, heck, it'll be a while before that happens, even I can't just let someone die because of a monster like that Marcus barnacle. Besides, in a way...I owe it to you for giving me another chance at a better life. Here," as he gave Finn a blue walkie-talkie, adding, "We can communicate through these thingamajigs I picked up on Poppy's desk."
Finn looked at the device before asking, "Did you steal this from Poppy"? Sid shook his head and said while looking towards the right, "No...I borrowed it." Finn dismissed Sid's response as he said, "Ok. Well, come on then, mate. Let's go," as they both began the long walk back to Trollstopia. A while later, Laguna was returning to her house and slowly approaching the door. She took a deep breath and did her best not to seem nervous as she slowly opened the door, saying, "I'm home." Laguna started to close the door behind her but kept it slightly open, just in case she needed to escape. As to her luck, she was greeted by her mom, who said, "Hey, whippersnapper." Twilight swam up to her, hugging her mother tightly while saying, "Oh, mom! I'm so glad you're safe," before separating from her to angrily shout, "Why did you tell dad it was ok to stay here of all places"?! Twilight sighed as she replied, "I didn't want to, kelpcake, I really didn't. But before I could lay it on him, he kept interrupting me and didn't seem to listen. Not even to the leaders, mate. In that circumstances, he basically forced me to have him stay here. I'm sorry, kelpcake." Laguna sighed as she asked, "Where is he now"? Twilight tipped her fedora as she stated, "He's in the guest bedroom, away from your room, watching his shark wrestling shows with his headphones on, calling his employees. So luckily, he can't hear us. " Laguna then became stern as she asked, "Mom, I mean this in the most sincere way possible, but when are you going to divorce him?! I thought you told me that you'd never forgive him for what he did"! Twilight placed a comforting hand on Laguna's shoulder as she responded with, "I know, and I still don't forgive him. I'm going to lay it out on him tomorrow after you leave the house. I'll let him know that we're through and that if he tries ANYTHING, I'm calling the police, fair dinkum"!
Laguna felt a small sense of relief hearing this as she then said, "Mom, when you do this, please be careful. I...I can't go losing you again." Twilight had a caring smile as she said, "I promise you, Laguna. I don't care what he does. I'm not going anywhere." Laguna began to feel a bit better as she and her mom hugged one another again before Twilight commented, "No, why don't we make something to eat"? A little confused, Laguna asked, "But I thought father was cooking." Twilight then had a sheepish smile as she said, "Well, it started like that, but then, a pack of dogfish came and gobbled his food up like ravenous wolves! He got pretty mad and is now taking occupancy in his "temporary living space." She then whispered, "But between you and me, fair dinkum, I have no idea where they came from," before winking at her daughter. Laguna found herself trying to stifle her laughter as she said, "Wow. We might never know where they came from," before winking back at her mother, both female trolls sharing a heartfelt laugh. Twilight then said as she swam into the kitchen, "Well, I better get cooking! Ya want to help, kelpcake"? Laguna nodded as she said while entering the kitchen as well, "Note: Sure thing, mom." Both Techno trolls got right to work, whipping up some food together, while Marcus stayed in his room the whole time. Hours later, Laguna was in her bedroom, reading a new book she picked out from the library when she heard a knock on her bedroom door. Laguna jumped in fright as the voice followed, saying, "Laguna, it's Marcus. Can I come in"? Laguna shuddered and had no idea how to respond but soon overheard her mother protecting her by saying, "Marcus, ya mind leaving Laguna be? She's busy catching up on her studies. She needs privacy to concentrate." to her relief, Marcus groaned and said, "Alright," before swimming away.
Laguna sighed a small breath in relief before she saw a note slipping under her door. She picked it up and read it, smiling with each word. Apparently, her mother had unlocked her window so in case she felt like escaping and rushing to a friend's house in case she felt endangered. Plus, her mother even had an excuse prepared if Marcus found Laguna missing: that she was "at a sleepover at a friend's house." It made Laguna's heart and soul feel a lot better to know that her mother was doing everything she could to help protect her daughter from getting hurt by Marcus again. At the same time, it also made Laguna feel tense because what if something happened to her mother while she was gone? Back up on land, Val was preparing to head to the leaders/ambassador meeting when Melody came up to her, asking in concern, "Do you have to go"? Val nodded, replying, "I have to, Melly. This meeting can help us come up with the perfect way to deal with Marcus." Melody sighed and then asked, "I get that, but why can't I come with you? I feel just as strongly about the situation as you guys do." Val placed a hand on Melody's shoulder as she replied, "Well, it's a leader/ambassador meeting, and despite being my cousin, you would technically count as a delegate. Besides, I can't risk you putting yourself in danger in case something happens." Melody then angrily shouted, "Well, what about you!? And the other leaders?! and especially Aggie?! You don't want me to get hurt, but what about you guys?! What if something happens to you while trying to defend Laguna?! What if you get hurt the same way she did?! What if you get caught in a scenario the same way your mom did when she was our age?! Or what if that happens to everyone else"?! Val was speechless as she saw Melody close to breaking down, with tears beginning to form. Then, Val saw Evie appear from behind Melody, hugging her older sister's left leg as she asked in fear, "Is Val going to be ok"?
Val bit her tongue and picked up Evie before putting an arm around Melody, saying, "Melody, I get that you feel strongly about this. I do, too, especially because we know...my mom went through the same problem but caved in instead of fighting it. But I promise you...even if it takes every ounce of rock troll blood flowing through my body, I'm not going to let something like that happen to me...or you...and especially Evie. We're all going to be fighting this together. And no matter what, we have each other's backs, the same way I have yours. I promise you both...I'm going to be ok, and everyone else will too. No one is going to get hurt." Val made a rock gesture and tapped her chest three times as Evie said, "The rock promise sign"! Melody and Evie ended up doing the same thing as Melody then commented, "Just...be careful. I don't know what I'd do if something were to happen to you." Val nodded and said, "I will, but you and Evie, be careful too. The same way you both care a lot about me, I care a lot about you, even if I hide it sometimes out in public." Melody and Evie ended up hugging Val as the rock ambassador gave Evie back to Melody before leaving for the meeting. As night fell over the Troll Kingdom, many of the residents were already asleep or preparing to sleep. At Techno Lagoon, Laguna found herself unable to sleep, trying to stay awake by reading. Despite her seemingly calm appearance, inside, she was a nerovus wreck. The residing fear of her father sudden;y coming into her room scared her to death, and not even a hug or any inspiring words would be enough to help her. She decided that she couldn't stay in her room, not if it meant the possibility of getting assaulted. She grabbed a backpack and started packing a few items inside it: some books, her notes, a brush, and the jacket McJagger gave her. She then quietly opened the window and swam outside, closing it solely behind her before making a break for the surface. Once she got into the land, Laguna made a break for it, running through the forest in an absolute panic.
With each fin step, Laguna's adrenaline drove her to move faster than she ever did before as she said while catching her breath mid-run, "Have to...get away...before he...finds me! But where should I take cover"? Laguna thought of the possible places she could hide before deciding on the one place that she thought Marcus could never expect to find her: Rock Hollow. With her decision made, Laguna started to run in Rock Hollow's direction, moving as fast as her fins could take her. Inside Rock hollow, Melody was sitting on the couch, preparing to read a Glitterborn Chronicle book, when she noticed a huge door being installed by the entrance. In confusion, she saw Demo passing by and asked, "Demo, why are we installing a door"? Demo turned to face Melody and replied, "Well, pink popcorn, when I heard about "him" staying here, and Val informed of the situation, we came up with the idea to put a door up in case he decides to "barge-in" here. Don't worry. It is only temporary." Melody sighed a breath of relief as she said, "Good to know. And what did I say about the popcorn joke"? Demo smirked as he replied, "Come on, you know you love it." Melody blushed a deep shade of red as she crossed her arms and turned her head away, saying, "No, I don't," while Demo chuckled, much to Melody's expense. A few minutes later, Laguna had made it to Rock Hollow and started pounding on the door in a panicked frenzy, shouting, "Come on! Come on"! when no one seemed to be answering, she pounded harder while shouting, "For the love of troll, someone answer right now"!
Inside, Melody was reading when she heard pounding at the door, asking, "Who could that be"? She placed the book down on the couch and went to answer the door. As the pounding got harder, Melody shouted, "Ok! Ok! I'm coming! I'm coming"! Melody opened the door and saw Laguna standing there as she said, "Hey Laguna. Everything oh-," but just as Melody was asking her question, Laguna zipped past her before the pop/rock troll could finish saying, "kay"? Laguna dove and hid behind the couch, trying to catch her breath as Melody closed the door and came up to her, asking, "Laguna? Is something wrong? You look really panicked." Laguna was doing her best to calm down as she frantically replied, "I ran away! H-He's staying in my house! I just couldn't stay there! not if it meant "it" happening all over again." Her breathing started to become shaky as hot tears streamed down her face and her heart began to beat at a fast pace. Melody's instincts took over as she sat next to Laguna, saying as she held her hand, "Hey, don't worry. Everything going to be ok. You can stay with us for a while until he leaves. and I can get Aggie and Prince D to come over to talk to you. The leaders too and-," but stopped when she noticed something was wrong. Laguna began to gasp, almost like she couldn't breathe. Melody became panicked because she knew what was going on: Laguna was having a panic attack, and it was a bad one. Melody gently squeezed Laguna's hand as she said, "Laguna, are you ok? It's ok. Just try to breathe. In and out. Slow and steady. Come on, girl, please"! Laguna then placed a hand on Melody's shoulder and whispered in mid-gasp, "Get...Aggie...leaders...oxygen...now"!
Melody bit her lip, unsure if she should leave Laguna like this. But seeing the panicked look in her eyes was all it took for Melody to get up and say, "I'm on it," before rushing out of the hollow to find everyone. Running as fast as she could, Melody darted to the meeting mushroom. The leaders and ambassadors were highly debating on different ideas of what to do about the situation. Then, Melody burst in, saying, "Hold everything, and no literal meaning! Everyone, I need a minute of your time quickly"! Seeing a panic-stricken Melody was enough to get everyone concerned as Aggie came up to her, asking, "what's up, Mel"? Melody frantically replied, "It's Laguna! She's at Rock Hollow, and she's having a panic attack, and it's bad! She can't breathe"! Everyone gasped in fright as Essence got up, saying, "Well, what are we waiting for? We need to get oxygen to her and fast"! Delta stood up, saying, "Ay have ayy oxygen tank with my things." With that, Aggie then said, "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go," as the group all rushed out of the meeting mushroom and headed straight to Rock Hollow. Meanwhile, Laguna was still struggling to breathe, and she could feel herself close to becoming unconscious. Her chest was hurting, and her lungs felt like they were up in flames. All she could do was try to calm down and pray for a miracle. At that moment, Mal had just come out of the bedroom after tucking Evie in and saw Laguna's panic attack occurring. Her motherly instincts kicking in, she ran towards Laguna and knew just what to do. She knelt, grabbed both of Laguna's hands, and softly said, "Easy there, child. It'll be ok. I know you are struggling, but try to focus on your breathing. Breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth. Nice and slow." The frightened and suffering Techno troll nodded and began to take shaky deep breaths, inhaling through her nose and exhaling through her mouth.
While the breaths sounded irregular and choppy at first, slowly, they became better and a lot smoother. Laguna could feel her anxiety and fear begin to disappear as Mal kept encouraging her, saying, "There you go. Take your time. Just breathe and focus on your positive energy." Sure enough, soon, Laguna was taking slow and perfectly deep breaths. She felt her body grow less tense and finally seemed to calm down. Feeling better than earlier, Laguna was able to respond with, "Ok. I am calm now. Thank you so much, Ms. Shredder. If you hadn't stepped in, I'd probably have died." Mal smiled and said, "You're welcome, Laguna. I am glad that you are alright." At that moment, the leaders and ambassadors have barged in, with Delta holding an oxygen tank and mask, as Poppy shouted, "Stop everything"! Mal and Laguna turned their heads to see them as Melody rushed over while saying, "Mom! How's Laguna?! Is she ok"? Mal nodded and replied, "Don't worry, Mel. I think we're good. You ok, Laguna"? Laguna took a couple more deep breaths before saying, "Yeah...I'm ok, now. honest." Everyone felt relieved that Laguna was alright as Melody suddenly felt Laguna hugging her tightly, not wanting to let go. Feeling the fear and panic she'd been through today, Melody slowly hugged Laguna back while saying, "Everything's going to be ok." After a while, they both separated as Melody asked, "Hey, I know you can breathe normally again, but are you sure you don't need the oxygen tank? Not even a little bit"?
Laguna was about to answer when she slightly winced in pain from the burning sensation in her chest. While she could breathe normally again, she could feel her lungs struggling to keep it up, and her heart was beating fast. One begging look was all the answers Delta needed to tell Melody, "Bring huurr over to that there couch ayn' have huurr lay down." Melody nodded and guided Laguna to the couch, removing the book first so she could lay down. Once settled, Delta placed the oxygen mask over her nose and mouth before opening the tank, letting some oxygen flow. Laguna slowly breathed as Branch said, "Just focus on letting the oxygen enter your body, and you should be fine, Laguna." Laguna slowly nodded as she laid her head back on the armrest of the couch. Meanwhile, Low-Note commented, "Poor Laguna. She's gone through so much sad stuff, and this panic attack definitely shows how much she's been suffering." Holly added, "Dang y'all. She's just an innocent troll. She shouldn't be suffering through this." Trollex knelt towards Laguna and said, "Don't worry. We're all here for you. You're going to be alright, promise." Seeing Trollex interact with Laguna like this, Aggie felt a small ting of jealousy, but it was easily overpowered by concern because she was one of Trollex's people. So he had the right to be concerned for her. Aggie came forward and asked, "Laguna, do you need anything else"? Laguna wanted to say something, but her mind focused on breathing and trying to fill up on oxygen. So, she brought her arms up and rubbed them, mimicking a troll shivering from the cold.
Dante, seeing this, stated, "The poor girl must be cold. Does anyone have a blanket or a quilt"? Melody then remembered something and went behind the couch, saying, "She brought a backpack with her. Maybe there's something in there." Melody picked the backpack up and opened it, pulling out her jacket, as she said, "Perfect"! Melody gave the jacket to Essence, who gently covered Laguna with it as if it was a blanket. Laguna showed a smile in content as Trollzart then got a great idea and pulled out his baton. He started to wave it, playing classical music, as Sid, who was asleep in his room, got up and came over, saying, "What's with the classical music? Some of us are trying to sleep." He then saw Laguna lying on the couch with an oxygen mask on as he asked, "Did I miss something"? Synth nodded and pumped his arms up while in the wheelchair, saying, "Yes! Laguna had a panic attack, but Mal saved the day"! Mal was blushing a little as she replied, "Well, I would not call myself a hero. I was only acting how any mother would when they see a child in distress." Suddenly, a knock on the door got eh group's attention as Barb said, "I'll get it," and went to open the door. When she opened it, she saw an out-of-breath McJagger standing there as he asked, "Where's Laguna"? Barb was a little surprised to see him as she said, "Woah, do you have some superpower to sense if your girlfriend's in danger or something"? McJagger shook his head and replied, "Nope, it's boyfriend/girlfriend intuition. Where is she"?
Barba allowed him to come inside as the nervous funk troll walked in and saw his girlfriend asleep on the couch with an oxygen mask on. He came forward and asked, "What happened? Did she have another serious panic attack or something"? Everyone nodded as Poppy commented, "Melody came and told us about it. Still, Mal was able to get her to calm down before Delta placed the mask over Laguna." McJagger felt really bad for Laguna, especially since he wasn't there to help her in time, and it made him feel really guilty. As Delta slowly turned the oxygen tank off and removed the mask, she commented, "Ay think she should be good for now, but ay think it's best to keep this just in case." McJagger then walked over and sat on the floor beside Laguna, saying, "I'll stay and keep watch. If she needs more oxygen, I can set up the mask and tank for her. I hope you rock trolls don't mind if I spend the night here too, do you"? Barb shook her head, saying, "Of course not. she's your girlfriend, you should be with her no matter where you are. Ugh, I'm sounding all sappy again," as Sid chuckled, saying, "Welcome to my world." Melody then faced Val and asked, "So, did you guys come up with a plan yet? After this incident, I can't stand him being here any longer"! Val placed her hands up, saying, "We all agree, but we're debating on ideas on exactly how to deal with it without causing so much panic and distress." Suddenly, Sid's ears twitched at what sounded like a shout as he walked out to look, with Aggie, Trollex, and Melody following him. Sid walked outside and found a bush moving, preparing to strike if needed. Aggie got her staff out, Trollex and Melody placed their fists up as an act of defense, and the group anticipated what would come out. Out of the bushes came a tried, beaten up, bloody Finn, who looked like he got jumped badly. He had bruises and cuts all over him, a black eye, his vest was torn, and there were cut marks all over his neon tail.
Aggie became horrified as she shouted, "Finn," and ran up to him. Trollex helped him sit up as he asked, "What happened"? Finn winced in pain as he said, "Hide...
Laguna. He's...coming this way." Everyone gasped in terror as Melody shouted, "Barb! Get a first-aid kit! We have a hurt troll out here"! Barb, Poppy, Holly, and Quincy came running out and saw Finn badly hurt, with Poppy saying, "Oh no! Who did this to you, Finn"?! Barb and Branch came running out as well with two first-aid kits as Finn painfully replied, "That...stinking...trollstard did. He saw me while looking for Laguna...and beat me down. I did my best to defend myself, but that gnarly monster was too strong. He kept whipping me and calling me a "lifeless being," saying...I should never have existed. I would have sicked the bloody sharks on me if I hadn't escaped in time, mates. The last thing he said before slashing my tail was, "Find Laguna and tell her...I'm coming for her." I struggled my way up to the surface and crawled in a random direction, lucky enough that you trolls found me. He sure left a ripper of a mark on me." Poppy and Branch began to treat Finn's wounds as Trollex replied, "Well, at least you are ok now, Finn." Melody felt something bubble inside of her as she then punched a tree so hard, it fell, much to everyone's surprise, as Sid commented, "Woah. I'm getting the sneaky suspicion that she's mad." Melody then shook her hand as she shouted, "That tears it! I've had just about enough of him! Marcus has gone too far! He brutalizes his son and is now coming for Laguna! I'm not going to standby and let this monster ruin our lives and the rest of Trollstopia! Some troll has to do something about this, and I'm going to make sure he NEVER hurts anyone again personally"!
Melody started to run in Techno Lagoon's direction but stopped when she felt her arm get caught by something. Poppy, Branch, and Aggie had used their hair to catch Melody as Aggie said, "No, Mel! I get this angers you, but you don't need to resort to anything drastic"! Melody struggled against the restraints, replying, "I have to do this, Aggie! I have to"! Melody used her free hand to reach into her pocket for a pair of scissors and cut the hair restraints off before darting into the forest., Everyone became terrified as Delta and Holly came running out, as Delta said, "We overheard, y'all! We'll get hurr," as Holly added, "Y'all ken count on us," as both Country Trolls galloped after Melody. Meanwhile, Melody was running as fast as she could while saying, "I swear! You're going to pay, Marcus! You try to take the lives of your flesh and blood! You don't deserve to be a father"! Melody turned the corner and spotted the lake, but before she could start approaching it, she felt her feet get caught up in some rope, and she fell to the ground. Suddenly, her wrists were caught too, and Melody struggled to break free. Melody shouted, "Holly, Delta, I appreciate your concern, but I have to do this"! However, she ended up getting a male chuckle as a response, which made Melody become terrified as she said, "Oh no"! Then, the voice replied, "Oh yes," as out of the shadows, Marcus appeared. Melody growled in frustration as she shouted while struggling in the restraints, "Marcus, I'm gonna kill you once I get out of here"! Marcus chuckled as he stated, "Oh? You, a dumb, naive troll, thinks she can stop me? This isn't my first rodeo, pinkie! I've done this a thousand times before. Besides, I think you can provide some good...assets to my team."
Melody continued to struggle as she retorted, "I'm never joining you as long as I live! You can head straight to the lava world because that's where you belong"! Marcus picked up the restraint troll as he replied, "Oh, because you don't have a choice." Melody then felt a strong rush of adrenaline as she broke out of the restraints and punched Marcus in the face, making him stumble back. Not even giving him a moment to breathe, Melody tackled him to the ground and wrestled him, trying to avoid his punches and strikes. Once she could get on top of him, Melody delivered repeated blows to the face while shouting, "YOU! HURT! MY! FRIENDS! YOU! PAY! THE! PRICE"! Marcus was suffering blow after blow, unable to respond quick enough to Meldoy's quick movement. while he was stronger and had a lot more muscles, he was no match for Melody's speed and agility. Melody launched her hair onto a branch and swung over it, delivering a hard kick to the face. Landing back on the ground, Marcus stumbled back up and tried to charge at Melody, but the pop/rock troll dodged, and he ended up hitting a tree. Marcus was suffering a lot of damage as Melody grew defensive, shouting, "Had enough yet"? Marcus, to Melody's surprise, was surprisingly calm, as he said, "Yes because I have you where I want you." Melody was confused until she saw a black cobra appear, trying to bite her. Melody jumped back at the last second to dodge as Marcus commanded, "Don't let her get away"! The cobra slithered towards her as Melody became terrified, shouting, "Ah," and started running for her life. The cobra pursued her as Melody shouted, "I HATE SNAKES! I HATE SNAKES"!
Melody kept running as the snake kept chasing her, making Melody shout, "Aw man! Why did it have to be a snake"?! Soon, Melody found herself running into an open clearing as she stopped to catch her breath, saying, "Phew. I think I lost it." Suddenly, the bushes around her rustled as Melody faced it, ready to defend herself when suddenly, something hit her in the back of the head, and she blacked out. Hours later, Melody awoke in a dark room but was in absolute pain and tried to stretch her arms, but found that she couldn't. She opened her eyes and saw that her hands and feet were in restraints, and she could not shout because there was duct tape on her mouth. She struggled but could not free herself as Marcus soon came up to her, saying, "Ah, so you've finally awakened, my pet." Melody turned her head away and struggled as Marcus said sinisterly, "Of course you wouldn't be happy to see me. Do not fret. We have so much to discuss. Besides, as a businessman, I'm known for...negotiations. So, I'm willing to make you a deal. I will let you go scot-free...if you tell me where my Laguna is." Seeing Melody shake her head furiously and struggle meant a definite no as Marcus seemed unfazed, responding with, "I know it may seem shocking. So, let me "sweeten" the deal. See, someone followed you last night in a desperate attempt to save you." He pulled out a cloth bag and dumped out its content, much to Melody's horror. Aggie was unconscious, her dress ripped and shredded, and she was covered in bruises, cuts, and scratches. Melody struggled and called out Aggie's name, despite being muffled, as Marcus picked up the unconscious MMT, saying, "She's so much fun to toy with, you know. We haven't become...intimate...yet." Melody struggled even more furiously as she shouted a lot of stuff, but they were muffled due to the ductape.
Marcus then threw Aggie to the ground as he said, "So, in exchange for revealing me where Laguna is, I will let you and your "friend" off scot-free." Melody was left at a turning point, unsure of what to do. Marcus could sense her hesitancy as he grinned, saying, "Tell you what. I'll count down from 10, and if you don't answer, you'll get to experience your friend and me "having some fun." Let me just rip this off so you can speak." He ripped the ductape off of Melody, who shouted in pain once it was removed, as Marcus said, "Now, let's start. 10, 9, 8." Melody panicked, unsure of what to say. Before Marcus could say 1, Melody broke, shouting, "Ok! I'll tell you"! Marcus had a sinister smile as Melody said with tears flowing, "Rock Hollow. She's at Rock Hollow! There, I said it! Now, let me and Aggie go! Please"! Marcus chuckled as he replied, "Thank you for your input." As Melody could feel wherever she was moving, assuming it was the caterbus, Melody hung her head low and whispered, "I'm sorry, Laguna." Melody could feel Marcus freeing her from the restraints as the pop/rock troll ran to Aggie, holding her as she said, "Aggie! Oh, Aggie. I'm so sorry! I... I wish I had listened to you. I could've saved you...or prevent this from happening. Now, I've put us in danger, and we've risked Laguna's life. I feel so terrible. I...I'm sorry I disappointed you...Master." Suddenly, everyone felt the bus suddenly shake violently and come to a complete stop. In confusion, Marcus asked, "What in slimy barnacles is going on? Why'd the bus stop"? A window shattered into a million pieces, and before Marcus could respond, a loud BANG roared through the bus, and Marcus grew deadly still. Melody looked up and saw that Marcus's arm was bleeding.
He shouted in pain and held his arm, shouting, "Who did this"?! The door suddenly kicked open as Melody turned her head and saw who it was. Much to her surprise, and Marcus's shock, holding a shotgun in her hands, ready to fire, was none other than Laguna, and she looked furious. Melody gasped and shouted happily, "Laguna! You're ok"! Laguna entered the bus as Marcus stumbled back in fear, saying, "L-Laguna, w-what a nice surprise." Laguna didn't say a word as she had the shotgun set, ready to strike. Marcus kept holding onto his arm as he said, "Lool, Laguna, my beautiful daughter, who's smart and kind and sweet and-," but got interrupted by Laguna shouting, "Be quiet, father"! Melody was speechless as she whispered, "Woah, I don't know whether to be scared or intrigued." Marcus was shaking as Laguna started to speak, angrily stating, "Ever since I can remember, you always seemed to ignore me, not wanting to do anything with my brother or me. You abandoned your own son to die out on his own! But when I thought you couldn't stop even lower, you decided to assault me after mom disappeared. For what?! Pleasure? Dominance? I don't know and could care less! You've hurt every single one of us, one way or another! But you've hurt me the most, father! You always liked to say that I'm weak? That I can't defend myself?! That I'm ugly and no one will ever love me?! Well, you're wrong! There are trolls here who are my friends, and they love me for who I am and what I do. They care about me and are willing to go through the fire and back just to make sure I'm ok. You only cared about your job and passions, while everyone else cared for one another. Being here...has helped me heal the wounds you've dawned on me. You may deny it, but I'll never forget what you've done to me. Not for a long time."
Marcus was trembling in fear as Laguna aimed the shotgun at his chest while saying, "It's kind of funny, really. The minute I finally stand up to you, you seem to lose all your intimidating energy, and your presence is no longer as daunting. I could easily use this and finally end the long "supposed" battle between you and me." Then, Laguna placed the shotgun by Melody before saying, "But there's no point. This battle is already over. You've tried to assert dominance over me for years, but now, I'm stronger, and I'm not going to take anything lying down! I anything, as weird as it may sound, I should actually be thanking you, father, because your assault on me gave me the chance to visit Trollstopia and grow better as a troll. I'm not your weakling anymore, and as far as I'm concerned, YOU are not, and never will be, my master! For years, I've had to hide my feelings and emotions, hide the things that tear me apart. But now, I can express them and mentally flourish, and thanks to that, I'm happier, a lot more confident, and I've gained something that you've never had: compassion. I've made the greatest friends I could ever ask for, I met the special love of my life, and I've finally found my place in the world. But you...the only place you belong is somewhere to consider the pain you've put your family through. And frankly, I hope never to see you again, father." Once Laguna had finished speaking, Delta, Holly, Barb, and Branch entered the caterbus with handcuffs and restraining equipment as Delta stated, "Marcus Tidepool, you are under arrest"! Marcus didn't even try to fight it as they handcuffed him while Holly signaled a jail cart to send him to prison.
As he was carted away to prison, Melody got up and hugged Laguna tightly, saying, "Oh, Laguna! Thank goodness you saved us"! Laguna hugged Melody back as she said, "I'm just relieved that you are ok. I was so worried that you would've gotten hurt." Then, both trolls heard someone stirring as they saw Aggie finally awaken, but she was in pain. Melody and Laguna ran over and helped Aggie up as Melody asked, "Aggie! Are you ok"? Branch, Delta, Holly, and Barb ran over and saw Aggie in pain as Holly shouted, "Oh no! Master Aggie," as Delta added, "What happened ta her"?! Barb ran over, shouting, "What did that trollstard do to her"?! Aggie started to open her eyes as she asked, "Melody...where are we"? Everyone felt relieved that Aggie was not hurt too badly, but became concerned again when Aggie let out a pained shout and gripped her stomach. Branch narrowed his eyes and saw that deep in the shredded dress, there was a gash on her stomach, and it was starting to bleed. Melody picked up Aggie and said, "We need to get help! now," as she and Barb hopped onto Delta. Laguna and Branch hopped onto Holly as Delta shouted, "Well, then there's no time ta waste! To the hospital"! Holly and Delta started to gallop as fast as they could towards the Trollstopia Medical Hospital. Arriving into town, they passed the rest of their friends as Melody shouted, "Make way, trolls! Hurt Master of All Music coming through"! Those words were what made everyone concerned as Essence shouted, "Oh no! My dear Aggie," as Trollex shouted in a panicked frenzy, "My sweet girlfriend"! Everyone ran after the galloping Country Trolls towards the hospital. Once they made it, Holly shouted, "Get ayy doctor out here! WE need help"! Dr. Moonbloom came out and saw Aggie in critical condition as she shouted, "We need a stretcher! Stat"! Two nurses rolled out a stretcher as Melody placed Aggie onto it before she was rolled away into emergency surgery.
As Aggie disappeared into the medical room, Melody had tears starting to form as she said, "It's all my fault! I ran off to hurt Marcus, and Aggie ended up getting hurt, trying to save me! I almost got her killed." Melody broke into a hard sob as Barb did her best to comfort Melody, saying, "Hey, it's alright, Melody. It's not your fault. If we were in your shoes, we would've done the same thing." Melody sadly retorted, "But it is! I could've prevented this from happening if I had just stopped and listened! Instead, I put myself in danger and dragged poor Agatha along with it! I don't even care that I said her full name because I know she's going to hate me anyway"! Melody's sobs grew louder and heartbreaking as Delta, Holly, Branch, and Barb had no idea how to help the sad pop/rock troll. Seeing Melody crying, Laguna came up to her and asked, "If I may inquire on this...why did you feel so strongly about this"? Melody ceased her sobs as she answered, "Because...Val and I...had a family member...who went through the same thing you did. Val's mom, my aunt, was also assaulted in the manner that you were when she was our age. However, she ended up being pregnant with Val, and after Val was born...everything went downhill. She lost it...and one day...just...no longer wanted to live in misery." Everyone gasped in shock as Melody sighed and tried to wipe away her stars, mentioning, "Even though I was only really young when it happened, I still understood entirely what something like that could do to a troll. That's why I felt so strongly about it with you...because...I didn't want what happened to my aunt...to happen to you. You're a special Techno troll, Laguna, and I didn't want you to go down the same path my aunt did. Val feels the same way, though she tries to hide it since it's really personal. But now, you guys understand a little better why...with stuff like this...I have a deep feeling about it...because I can relate to it, one way or another."
Everyone remained silent, unsure of what to say next, until Trollex's voice piped in, saying, "We understand, Melody." Barb, Branch, Holly, Delta, Laguna, and Melody turned their heads and found the rest of the leaders, ambassadors, and delegates, including the Snack Pack, Prince D, Mal, Evie, Twilight, Buckaroo, McJagger, Sid, and a still recovering Finn, entering the hospital. Trollex came up to Melody, saying, "We can understand how you feel. While we may not have gone through the same thing your family did, we can understand the pain and multiple emotions you feel towards it. Besides, I know that Aggie would never hate you. She understands that you were only acting this way because you wanted to protect your friend." McJagger came forward, saying, "Trollex's right. You were the only troll brave enough to go out and attempt something to right a heavy wrong. You wanted to protect Laguna, and that takes a lot of loyalty and passion." Val added, "You have more confidence and drive to help others than even we do, and you have loads of guts to do even the most daring risks to ensure that we're safe and happy." Twilight then came forward, walking to Melody as she said, "Crikey, I have to say you were even braver than even me. I was ready ta divorce him, then you went and decided to face him head-on without back-up. That takes guts, mate, and while things did not go as you planned, you were willing to give up your life just to protect us." Melody started to feel a bit better as she said, "Well, it's not just me, Ms. Tidepool. It's all of us together. We all were on the mission to protect you and your children from Marcus. So, we're all the heroes in this case. Everyone helped make sure you, Finn, and Laguna did not have to undergo his horrendous wrath. We'll stand by you guys as long as we live. Like...how Aggie would stand by us." Holly added, "Yeah, because together, we're friends ayn' family! Ayn' family sticks together, no matter what," with Barb adding, "No matter where you come from or what you represent, we always have each other's backs."
Branch commented, "We stand for what's right," while Poppy added, "And defend against the wrong"! Synth and Stereo said in unison, "Through sickness," while Dante and Trollzart added, "And in good health," as Essence mentioned, "Through the good times and the bad." Quincy added, "We help one another out of whatever conflict we are facing," as Evie added, "Trollstopia's spirit lives on"! Low-Note Jones tipped his shades at Evie while saying, "You got that right, baby," while Trollex said, "Even if we may act reckless or out of whack, we're still friends, and we still care for each other through thick and thin." Sid even commented, "Even if you're an entirely different species," while Finn added, "Or one of your own kind," as Delta commented, "We're all in this together"! Melody smiled as she soon felt Trollex hold one of her hands and Laguna held the other. Every troll came together and started to form a huge circle, connecting hand in hand. Something started to come over them as in their hearts, a song was playing, and they felt like singing.

After everyone had concluded singing, they all gathered together for a huge group hug, and Finn, for once, allowed himself to be part of the hug. after a while, Dr. Moonbloom came out as Trollex, spotting her, asked the doctor, "Moonbloom! Is Aggie going to be ok"? Everyone listened in anticipation as Moonbloom looked at a clipboard, saying, "Well, Aggie is going to be just fine. Much like with Finn's condition earlier when you brought him to me, all Aggie needs rest and take it easy for a couple of days. Luckily, the cut on her stomach was not serious, only requiring a bandage. She should be fully recovered within 4 days." This brought a sense of relief to the group as Moonbloom then stated, "However, I would recommend she stays over tonight, just to rest up because when she was brought into surgery, she was desperately exhausted and sleeping off what seemed like a sleeping serum." Everyone nodded as Essence spoke up, saying, "Just do what you need to do to help Aggie recover," while Poppy added, "And thank you for helping her." Moonbloom nodded before replying, "It's what I do, Ms. Poppy. Now, normally, I'd allow visitors, but at the moment, we are swamped. so, if you all want to see her, I'd recommend coming back later on at around sunset." Everyone nodded and proceeded to start exiting the hospital. however, Moonbloom then stopped Melody, saying, "Hold on a minute, Ms. Song." Moonbloom waited for the rest of Melody's friends to leave before saying, "Aggie requested to have a private chat with you upon your arrival." Melody bit her lower lip and replied, "Really? Ok," while in her head, she was thinking. She's probably going to say something about no longer wanting to be my friend.
Moonbloom led Melody to the room Aggie was resting in as the pop/rock troll took a deep breath in before opening the door. Walking inside and closing the door, Melody saw the MMT resting in bed. She had band-aids over the cuts, and while it was not so visible under her torn dress, she had a large white bandage covering the cut on her stomach. Aggie looked up from the magazine she was reading and saw a nerovus Melody standing in front of her. she smiled and had her arms out wide as if she was giving a hug. A little confused, Melody walked over to Aggie, and the two hugged one another. Melody could not help but let out a few tears as Aggie felt them and asked, "Mel, what's wrong," while they both separated. Melody wiped her tears away as she said, "I'm just...I'm so sorry you got hurt...especially because of me. I ran off and failed to listen to anyone, including you, and when you went to rescue me, you ended up getting brutalized by Marcus. And I couldn't even do a thing to save you. I...I understand if you hate me...or don't want to be my friend anymore. And I get it. No friend would ever put herself or others in danger and...even if it doesn't seem like it...I failed you, Master Aggie. and...I'm sorry. I...should go." Melody turned and was ready to leave when Aggie stopped her, saying, "Mel, stop"! Melody stopped and turned to face Aggie again as Aggie slowly got up and limped her way to Melody while saying, "Melody, I could never hate you, not even if you did something really inexcusable. And you most certainly did not fail me. I get that you feel guilty that I got attacked, but you didn't fail. If anything, you saved me. If you hadn't acted quick enough when we were captured onto that caterbus, I would've gone through the same thing Laguna did and...I would've been scarred for life."
Melody then realized that Aggie made a good point as the MMT then added, "Plus, I understand. You wanted to protect Laguna and Finn, and even I have to admit, I would've done the same thing. If anything, I was worried that you were going to hate me." Melody became surprised as she asked, "Why would I hate you? You decided to go after me because you felt like I was putting myself in danger." Aggie commented, "Exactly. I knew that you wanted to do this alone, And while I was trying to find you and Marcus, I felt guilty that by helping you, you'd be mad with me. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Because I wanted to apologize for going against your wishes." Melody ended up chuckling as she said, "Aggie, you didn't go against my wishes, not like I had any anyways. But you were brave enough to try and help. That's something I like about you: in a way, you're like me. Loyal to our friends and devoted to doing whatever it takes to help them. I get that if you did show up during my assault on Marcus, I'd probably have yelled at you, but even so, I would've been thankful that you followed. While things did not entirely as we hoped they would, we were able to stop Marcus. And...I'm grateful that you risked your own life to help save mine. Does this mean...we're still friends"? Aggie shook her head before saying, "No. It means we're still best friends. always have been, always will be." Melody felt a huge wave of relief as she and Aggie hugged one another again before Aggie smirked and commented, "Also, I overheard you mentioning my full name." Melody became terrified as she gulped in nervousness and prepared for a brutal attack. However, all she got was a small tap to the nose, as Aggie commented, "But because of what we went through, I'm willing to let it slide once. But just so you know-" Melody raised her hands and interrupted Aggie, saying, "I know! Mention it again, and I'm dead. Literally."
Suddenly, Aggie felt herself becoming dazed as she started to have yet another vision. This time, it was Sid, and he looked like he was telling Melody something. He said, "Melody, I...need to tell you something. I...I...I'm in love with you"! Suddenly, her vision ended as Aggie was close to stumbling, if not for Melody catching her while saying, "Woah there! Let's get you back into bed"! Melody helped Aggie back into the hospital bed before asking, "Did you have another vision"? Aggie nodded and replied, "Yeah, I did. It's nothing dangerous. Just...well...you'll have to wait and see." Melody was a little confused as she said, "Ok? Well, I'm going to join the others. Are you going to be fine by yourself"? Aggie nodded and said, "I'll be out of here by tomorrow, so don't you worry." Melody smiled in content as she slowly walked to the door and waved goodbye before leaving the room. As Melody exited the hospital, she was greeted by Val, Evie, and Mal. Val asked, "Is everything ok"? Melody nodded and replied, "Yeah. Aggie and I just chatted, and...well...we're still best friends at least. And I luckily did not get killed for saying her full name." Val snickered and came up to Melody before saying, "Good. Now I have to do two things. One, this." She gave Melody a bone-crushing hug as Melody gasped for air, shouting, "Can't...breathe...Val"! Once Val let go, she continued saying, "Two, this," as she punched Melody in the arm, the pop/rock roll rubbing her arm while saying, "Ow"! Val then glared at her younger cousin while shouting, "What in rockdom were you thinking?! Running off like that and almost getting hurt by that trollstard?! Do you have any idea how worried we were?! You could've gotten killed! What about what I said back at the hollow?! About you being careful"?! Melody sighed and said while holding her arm, "Sorry, Val. You too, mom and Evie. I acted recklessly and didn't even bother to think how you guys felt about it."
Val sighed and then commented, "Well, at least you came out unharmed, so I guess I can't be too mad at you. But you shattered the rock troll promise we made, and that's what I'm more upset about." Melody looked down sadly as Val then asked, "And do you know what happens to rock trolls that break their promise"? Melody gulped and asked, "What, and does it involve pain"? Val then started to say, "Those trolls...," before breaking into laughter and saying, "They owe the others ice cream. And the only pain you'd be feeling is brain freeze if you can't handle the chill." Melody sighed a breath of relief as Evie jumped up and down, saying, "Yay! Ice cream," as Mal asked, "So, shall we head to the ice cream parlor"? Both cousins nodded in agreement as Val said while putting an arm around Melody, "Man, you should've seen your face when you thought you'd be in a world of pain." Meanwhile, back on the ground, Laguna was walking with her mom na dMcJagger while Finn was riding on McJagger's back, the Trap troll saying, "Wow, McJagger. This was pretty kind of you ta offer me a ride back to Techno Lagoon." McJagger smiled and replied, "Well, you know me. I always love to help others, and besides, it helps take a load off your recovering injuries. You're lucky that it'll only be two days of bandages and rest.' Finn sighed and rolled his eyes while sarcastically saying, "Yeah. such great fun," as Twilight and Laguna snickered silently, Laguna saying, "Well, at least I'll be staying with you to help you heal, Finn."
Finn sighed and commented, "But dinkum, I don't want ta be babied like an overprotective crocodile mother, no offense, mom." Twilight tipped her fedora and said, "At ease, Finn. Besides, those two days are gonna fly by, and crikey, you'll wish it was longer. And, at least we'll get ta connect as a family." Laguna and Finn looked at one another before sharing a small smile as McJagger then asked, "Does that include me too, Ms. T? I'm only asking because of the circumstances since I'm dating Laguna." Twilight chuckled as she said, "Of course it includes you two, McJagger. after all, once you and my daughter get married, you'll be part of the family." McJagger and Laguna blushed in embarrassment as Laguna shouted, "Mom," while Twilight and Finn ended up breaking into laughter, with Finn being surprised since he's never laughed like that in a long time. McJagger noticed his grin as he asked, "So, you do smile from time to time"? Finn's scowl returned as he crossed his arms and answered, "Sometimes. And as for you, since you seem like you'll be my future brother-in-law, let me make one thing bloody clear between you and me. If you ever hurt Laguna in any way or form, if Twilight does not chew you out, I will certainly crunch you out of existence, fair dinkum! Capiche"? McJagger nodded and stated, "I promise Laguna is in good, caring paws. Funk troll's honor." He and Laguna shared a romantic kiss as they kept walking while Finn stuck his tongue, saying, "Can't you both get a room if you're going to be doing this often"? Laguna and McJagger broke into laughter as Twilight, who watched, smiled and commented, "Ah, young love."
At the ice cream parlor, Melody was eating a dark, dark chocolate ice cream on a sugar sprinkled cone when she saw Sid approached her as she said, "Hey, Sid. What's up"? Sid crossed his arms and replied, "Well, with everything that was going on, I figured that I might as well try and be a little more social. Last night kind of was an eye opener for me and well, helping Finn out a little bit was...nice. Ugh, still sounds weird to say. But, it did feel nice helping a friend out in a dire emergency like that. So, I thought, maybe I'd branch out more and...try talking to other trolls other than you, that Aggie girl, and Finn." Melody smiled and said, "Great job, Sid. Beocming more open to others is a great sign that your reformation is really working." Sid nervously chuckled as he replied, "Guess so. And...there's something else I wanted to tell you. It's not easy for me to say." Melody quickly gulped down her ice cream before saying, "You can tell me, Sid." Sid sighed and fiddled with his fingers, trying to find the right words to say as he slowly started to speak, saying, "I...I...I..." In confusion, Melody asked, "What's on your mind"? Sid's throat felt dry and he found himself unable to speak, so, he decided to let actions take over. With what little confidence he had left, he leaned over and kissed Melody right on the lips. Melody was stunned and shocked that this happened so suddenly, but she didn't fight back from the kiss. Sid soon stepped back and said while blushing, "Yeah. So...you see"? Melody was speechless as she was only able to nod her head as sid showed a small sheepish smile before saying, "I'm...going to go head back to Rock Hollow. See you later," as he nervously walked away, leaving a stunned Melody to stand alone. Val came over, saying, "Melly, what's wrong? If you continue standing like that, birds are going to mistake you for a tree." Seeing her cosuin still unresponsive, she asked, "Are you ok," as Melody looked at he empty ice cream cone before telling Val, "Sid just kissed me."
