DC III
...
I suppose the first sign that something was about to happen was the sudden way the lights in my 'room' started to flicker. The migraines pounding my head as the timeline crisscrossed around on itself trying to decide the path it should follow.
I wasn't entirely sure if it had anything to do with the fact the Asylum had seen a need to put me in the most isolated room in the building a while back- "Could you believe it? I killed his little boy wonder and"-
I smacked my head to get rid of the sudden interference. As much as I would've loved an update to that can of worms, I had visitors coming.
Judging by the pinpricks of my Observation, there were three- Four members of the elusive Justice League surrounding my 'home' for the past few years? Months? days?
Who knew really?
I didn't exactly bother to keep track of time anymore-
I snapped my attention towards the left-most corner in my room next to the door as Batman slowly walked out from the shadows.
I raised an eyebrow at him.
"Look who finally decided to show up? How was the funeral?"
No reaction, barring the few extra steps he took.
Idly turning my head around, I noted the fact the other Justice League members were intent on hiding for the time being. Flash himself seemed to be taking a lap around the building.
"I take it you haven't killed the Joker yet-"
I held in the urge to react as Batman promptly grabbed me back the scruff of my shirt, yanking me up to him at eye-level.
"Hello?" I stated instead, allowing a grin to bloom on my face, one that had his eyes narrowing.
"Did you have anything to do with it?" He questioned his voice level and not at all lowered as I was led to believe by The Dark Knight version of him.
"Maybe I did? Maybe I didn't. You'll never know."
I watched his eyes search mine for a moment before the man promptly dropped me back on the floor, a seat appearing from behind him as he put it down right in front of me.
Without hesitation, I took it and sat down.
"We'll see about that," The man stated as I watched a wary Wonder Woman walk out from behind him, a golden lasso at her hip.
"Is this legal?" I questioned with a chuckle. "I know farm-boy wouldn't approve." My words had no effect on Batty but Diana seemed, for a moment, to hesitate.
Seeing my chance, I continued.
"I mean really, I try to do you a favor and you throw me in the loony bin? Talk about trust issues-"
"I had nothing to do with your-"
"Bullshit and you know it," I stated, getting up off my seat. My actions not remotely effecting the Dark Knight, though Diana seemed to set herself into a stance. "Your mother and father should've taught you better manner-"
I found my head swiveling as spittle echoed out from the sudden punch.
"Touched a nerve-" Annnnd we're back to the holding up by the shirt. "You have really pretty eyes-"
"I am not here to play games with you!"
"Not clown enough for ya?"
Batman raised another, angered, hand, only for Diana's own to stop it, her eyes practically locking to his own.
"Let me use the lasso-"
"I don't consent." I deadpanned, earning narrowed eyes from the woman as the Batman literally dropped my ass onto the floor, again.
Idly getting up, I fixed a non-existent tie and sat back down on the chair.
"Then perhaps you ought to start talking of your own accord?" Diana remarked evenly, standing between me and the angry bat.
"Is this a date?"
"...No."
"Pity, I've always believed in been honest with your special someone."
Diana raised an eyebrow at the words.
"An admirable quality," The woman remarked carefully, mostly because of the sudden grin that graced my face.
"Says a lot about your coworkers doesn't it?"
"Were not here to talk about them. Now are you going to answer our questions willfully, or do you need an incentive?"
I shrugged. "I'll consider talking to his-" I pointed towards the still glaring Bat. "-mask."
An uncomfortable silence filled the room at my words, Diana tentatively taking a look at her colleague, wondering if he was going to say anything before she turned back to me.
"You already are..." She remarked uneasily when batman refused to say anything.
"Am I? Put the lasso on him and let's find out which ones the real deal-"
"We're not here to talk about ourselves, we're here to talk about the threat you made five years ago." Batman interrupted, almost immediately as he took a step forward.
"I thought you were here to talk about Red-hood."
When Batman's eyes widened, I finally understood the timeline I was currently on.
"You didn't know," I stated passively.
"...Use the lasso," Batman demanded.
"But-"
"Now."
Wonder Woman, to her credit, hesitated a moment before she threw the golden trinket around my neck, the lasso's shimmer increasing in shine in the process.
Though to my surprise, her first question had nothing to do with the conversation so far. In fact, it figuratively bought me back to my first, and only, meeting with one Ra's Al Ghul. Given he'd practically asked me the same thing.
"What do you know about Shimura?"
I held in the urge to laugh.
"Buy me dinner first," I remarked without a missed beat.
