Shield continued looking for him. He had gone rogue and missing at the same time. Peter hated doing that to his new comrades in arms but this mystery Kwannon lady had made her request known. He had no choice but to trust her for now. And odds were his senses would alert him if she tried anything.
He stuck to tower building sides and stayed mostly in his civilian clothes but kept his mask on. He then made his way into the Tokyo city interior, using the same maneuvering dynamics he's done countless times in his native New York. He had no idea where she was but figured she'd guide him in further.
Come on lady where are you?! This is getting old fast. You know?
[peter?] [yeah! I'm here!] [Good. I'm near. Keep going the way you are. I'll meet you halfway.] [Wait!] Gone again. Damn it. This is really annoying.
He crawled along the side of a building before then dropping himself down to the ground in an alley. He saw forms move in the shadows. He tensed. His senses hadn't gone off. Either his senses weren't working with them... or they weren't a threat. He wouldn't take any chances. He crouched low and readied to fight; spider style. His signature.
"Peter." It was her and came from behind. He spun to face her. She was dressed like a ninja; face covered. Then, a group of similarly attired ninjas emerged from the alley shadows. Still no buzzing...
"Your precognition is correct Peter. We are not your enemy." Peter trusted this for now. "Who are you?" "Former ninjas of the Hand." "The hand? They're very bad news." "Yes. And I know they have plagued your city in the past. We are a rebel faction. Come. There is much to discuss." "Where's my sister?" "Please Peter. It is not safe here. The enemy is everywhere."
"Okay."
She turned her back to him and he followed after her. The ninjas stayed to his sides and rear. From there they did parkour maneuvers to get where they needed to. Hell as Spider-Man I'm one of the greatest natural parkour practitioners alive!
This was indeed true. The ninjas did so well but Spidey did so with superhuman ease.
It took them awhile though and they were cautious in their movements. Doing so in bursts. This reinforced her earlier statement that the enemy was all around. And given what just transpired in that heavily armed security building said it all.
They then used grappling hooks to climb over some buildings. Piece of cake for me! He shot out a few lines added some spider agility and was up and over them on a target rooftop before they got there. They caught up a little later. "Beat ya!" They just looked at him and kept going.
They finally arrived at an abandoned warehouse by a port. They entered and secured the site. When it was made so only then did Kwannon remove her mask. Long raven hair fell down her back. She then faced Peter. She was quite stunning. The other ninjas took up sentry positions.
"I helped your sister Teresa infiltrate hydra after learning they were working with the hand to dominate the world." "Okay. But the hand wants to dominate the world too, as daredevil explained it to me once." She nodded then sighed. "Indeed. Not long before this I grew disillusioned with them. I'd always been able to read their minds... but the hand's lust for power outweighed reason. Thus I left." "That took guts. I bet that didn't make you popular with the top ninja guys." She smiled a little and nodded. "You are correct."
"How do we save Teresa?" "That is hard. She is deep inside and isn't herself." "What do you mean?" "I used an ancient hand infiltration ritual to suppress her consciousness in place for another. Anything else would have been detected by both hydra and the hand. That's why she has not made any communication with shield since she went under."
"Why did hydra just attack that security tower?" "A show of strength. Hydra can easily do so and disappear. They were warning shield to back off their trail. And with the gentleman helping them... they have the best resources in the world at their disposal. Nearly unlimited." She walked off to the side a little and folded her arms over her chest in thought. "Getting her out won't be easy. But it is possible. She asked me to serve as a backup."
"Why did you wait so long?" "She told me to. She asked me to use my best judgment. And I have by reaching out to you now." "Why are you helping any of us?" She then walked up to him. "Redemption. Our sins are many. We here are the ones who said no more. We would use our training for the benefit of mankind. Not its detriment." Peter nodded. "Okay. So how do we do this?" "One step at a time. I know this is hard Peter but you must be patient. We will save her. Believe that." "Okay."
"I also put a tracking device on one of their craft. We can tail them." She shook her head. "They covered that base. It was disabled not long after they withdrew."
It now seemed she was the only way to get Teresa out.
"I usually try not to pry into others' thoughts without permission but I sense your skepticism. It is both natural and understandable. But you do have danger senses." "True, but things have blocked them before. And I heard the hand has magical means at its disposal. That could nullify any mutational advantage. It'd be like fighting Thor or doctor strange or something." "True. I can only ask that you trust us. Will you?"
Peter looked around at the other ninjas as they stood guard. "Don't have a better option. So yeah I will." "Good. Come, let us have some tea. It will help calm our spirits and provide time to plan for what must happen next." Peter pulled off his mask and joined her. He didn't want to keep shield in the dark but apparently this group of rogue ninjas wanted to retain their anonymity or similar. He'd do that for as long as he could. There was little he could do to fool her. She was a mind reader after all.
Go with the flow Pete. Go with the flow.
