Ship
Maya, Kurama, Hiei and Puu were in a cabin. Kurama was sound asleep, his backpack beside him on the floor. Maya was wrapped in a blanket. Hiei was braced against the ship's beams, not weathering the storm well.
Maya whispered to Hiei. "Oh ... are you all right?"
"Fine, fine. Just riddled with envy., Look at him," Hiei indicated Kurama. "He can sleep through anything."
The ship tilted, timbers groaning. Puu climbed inside of Kurama's backpack knocking it over and The music box slid out of it and stopped near Maya. She picked up the Music Box. Maya immediately had a sharp recollection, a shock. She cradled the box lovingly.
Maya gasped.
"Pretty jewelry box, isn't it?" Hiei said.
"Jewelry box? Are you sure that's what it is?" Maya said.
"What else could it be?" Hiei said.
"Oh well, something else ... Something special ... something to do with a secret." Maya laughed. "Is that possible?"
Puu was licking Maya's feet, wanting attention.
Hiei climbed into his berth.
Maya laughed.
"Anything's possible. You taught Kurama how to waltz, didn't you?" Hiei said.
She secured the Music Box in the backpack.
Puu begged at feet of Maya to be picked up. She picked him up. She climbed into her berth, Puu climbed up on her tummy.
"Sleep well, your majesty." Hiei said.
Puu snuggled next to Maya.
"Sweet dreams, Puu." Maya said.
Underworld
Yomi and Kuronue gazeD at the image of Maria falling asleep.
"There she is master, sound sleep in her little bed." Kuronue said.
"And pleasant dreams to you, Princess. I'll get inside your mind, where you can't escape me." Yomi said. As he said this, smoky images began to collect around the Reliquary, images of faces, trees, a lake all blurred together.
Yomi chuckled with delight. He blew at the cloud of images sending them shooting skyward.
Ship's Cabin
From under the door smoky images silently slithered. They moved over toward Kurama sleeping on the floor. Recognizing that he was not the right person they floated across the cabin to her shoes then up over her berth and swirled around Maya.
The Smoky Images waited for the opportunity to enter her mouth when she yawned. She smiled as Yomi's dream began. Images of Butterflies appeared and circled around her face.
Forest Dream
Maya was sleeping peacefully in a sunny open meadow. Jin, Maria's young brother, walked up, surrounded by large Mystical Dream Butterflies. He waved to her, she waved back. He motions the Butterflies towards Maya. They approached her and flew around her.
Ship's Cabin, Reality
Maya's eyes were closed as she smiled in her sleep and sat, up in bed. The Dream Butterflies still swirled around her head. She got out of her berth following them, sleepwalking to the cabin door it opened and she exited. As it closed ...
Puu woke up.
Ship's Hallway
Maya sleepwalked down the hallway toward the stairs following the "Dream Butterflies". The ship pitched violently in the storm.
Ship's Cabin
Puu whined scratching at the cabin door, crying out for Maya.
Kurama was sleeping. Puu jumped on him trying to wake him. He just rolled over.
Ship's Deck
Rolling on a giant swell. Maya sleepwalked to the upper deck. In her dream, Jin and the three butterflies lead her up a rock embankment and through a field of daffodils. Maria's three sisters in swimsuits in the distance. Jin pointed to them as they leapt to the pool below.
Reality
Maya climbed over the railing of the deck and was looking into the black ocean. Smiling she slid back against the ships railing.
"Come on!" Jin said.
The sisters laughed.
Ship's Cabin
Puu begged for Kurama to wake up.
Kurama was still half asleep. "What, what, what, what, what Puu? Puu what?" Kurama looked up at Maya's empty berth and saw that she as gone.
"Maya, Maya, Maya ..." Kurama said.
Kurama scrambled from his makeshift bed and ran towards the door. Puu and Kurama burst out the door and ran towards the stairs. Puu remained stranded at the bottom of the stairs.
Ship's Deck
Maya, holding the guide line, was teetering on the ships railing.
Forest, Dream
Maya held on to a vine at edge of precipice overlooking a beautiful swimming pool. Little Jin pointed down towards the offstage swimmers, the family looking up, was waving to her. Maya watches as little Jin leapt towards the blue pool and she giggled.
"Hello, sunshine." Raises said.
"Come into the water!" Her sisters said.
"Hello." Maya giggled.
"Jump in, jump!" Raizen said.
"Come in!" Her sisters said.
"Yeh!" Jin said.
Ship's Deck, Reality
Maya stood on the ships railing, holding on to the guide wire, inching towards death.
Kurama raced towards Maya as the stormy sea crashed over him.
"Maya!" Kurama said.
Kurama was washed up into the crow's nest and suddenly saw Maya.
"Maya, stop!" Kurama said.
He grabbed on to a rope line and swung out to rescue Maya about to leap to her death.
Forest, Dream
Maya was in her dream. Raizen waved for her to jump into the clear pond and join them. Maya nodded and moved to jump in. Just as she was about to jump, Raizen, face turned hideous and frightening, suddenly becoming Yomi.
"Maya, NO!" Kurama shouted.
"YES, JUMP!" Yomi said.
"AH." Maya said.
Yomi continued to grow into an evil god-like figure as the dwarfed Maya rose on a column of skulls. Flying bat-like Minions swarm in a circle around Maya. She reacted in fear. A giant Yomi towered over her on the column of skulls. His harpy-like Minions were grabbing at her, encouraging her to jump.
"The Romanov curse. JUMP! JUMP!" Yomi said.
"AAH!" Maya shouted.
A Flying Minion grabbed Maya around the waist, from behind.
Ship's Deck
Kurama was holding her around the waist she struggled, rescuing her from the fall into the stormy sea.
"Maya! Maya! Maya wake up, wake up." Kurama said.
Maya jolted awake, terrified to see what almost happened to her. Kurama lifted her to the other side of the railing. Maya, shaking and almost crying with fear, still half in a dream, threw her arms around Kurama.
"The Romanov curse.. The Romanov curse." Maya said.
"The Romanov ... what are you talking about?" Kurama said.
"I keep seeing faces ... So many faces." Maya said.
Maya hugged Kurama and cried.
"It was a nightmare. It's all right, you're safe now." Kurama said.
