"Power level of 25" Bulma said after Videl tried her hardest to power up. It was clear the young girl was very frustrated. She was trying to her absolute best to do what this Goku said but all it really felt like was useless straining. Goku could see the frustration with each subsequent attempt to control and harness her power. Then he thought back to his youth. He remembered how he did not know how to use it, sense it, or control it. Realizing this was all too advanced for her, Goku stepped back and asked Master Roshi to work with her on learning all about ki. Meanwhile, Gohan was back and having come so close to death he was no doubt much more powerful than before. A power up test confirmed it with a reading of nearly 5 million without any techniques.

Goku continued to push Gohan inside the chamber. Outside, however, Master Roshi took Videl through much of the training he put Goku through when Goku was a boy. The workouts, the tests, everything. Except he never sent her for his unique reading materials. He knew she needed to build up some endurance, strength, and speed before ki understanding could come. By the end of the month she was finally understood the relationship between body and ki. She could raise and lower it at will. The problem now is she is so far behind Gohan that catching up would take more than just training and practice.

Meanwhile, Goku continued to have Bulma increase the gravity under which he trained Gohan. After one grueling session, Gohan laid panting and gasping for air. His muscles could no longer strain against the heavy gravity of the chamber. Seeing his predicament, Bulma lowered the gravity to give the boy time to recover. Goku went and sat by him and said "You're amazing son. Absolutely amazing." Gohan had a love hate relationship with compliments like this. He loved getting them but hated how they made him feel like an imposter. The truth was he did not feel amazing. He was dedicating his life to become a warrior now, but deep down he knew this was an act of will. Not a reflection of who he really was.

After recovering for a few minutes, Gohan sat up weakly. He looked at Goku and said "Dad, I want you to teach me the instant transmission technique". Goku scratched his head, looking at Gohan thoughtfully. Then he said "Well Gohan I can try but not just anyone can learn it. It's more than just targeting a Ki signature and moving yourself there. Well I mean, that's what it is but…" Gohan looked at his father quizzically as Goku continued to try and explain. "Ok Gohan" Goku continued "It's like this. You know what my ki feels like. Imagine trying to turn your ki into my ki." Gohan looked at him dumbfounded. "What does that mean dad?" Gohan asked him. Goku replied saying "I'm not really sure how to explain. When I learned it on Yardrat, they had things that helped. I don't really know what they were, but they made practicing the technique easy. I never learned in words how to do it". Gohan looked down. "So, you can't teach me then, dad?" Goku scratched his head again and said, "Let me think more on it, son."

After Roshi's training, Videl could raise her power level to 78 and drop it down to 3. She could also now sense power levels, track them, and could even form extremely basic ki blasts. She had the basis by which she could be trained. He could take her further, but not much further. It was time to put her into the chamber. Bulma sectioned off part of it where she would slightly increase gravity and give the girl targets to shoot with ki and dodge. It would be a slow process, but the girl would grow. Frustration was quickly setting in for the girl though. Now that she could feel ki, she could feel the massive gap between her and Gohan. So what if she was getting closer to hitting a power level of 100? If her max power level was a candle, Gohan was the sun in comparison.

The next morning, Hercule went to wake her up only to find her sobbing. He went and sat by her and asked, "What's wrong, sweetheart?" She sat with her head in her hands and said "I can't do it dad. I'm not strong enough. The gap between me and Gohan is just too big and he's still no match for the androids!" Hercule smiled sadly and put his arm around Videl. "Listen to daddy for a minute. You may be from an alien race and all, but you're still a kid. It's great that you want to help. They know you can't help right now. I know it and you know it too. If you just focus on what you can't do you won't accomplish what you can." She looked up and said, "I know that dad, but it won't matter if the androids kill us." Hercule wanted to say something inspirational and uplifting but knew all too well that the stakes really were that high.
