Alex stood in the mirror as he buttoned up his crisp white dress shirt,with the miniature black buttons running down it ,and placed his silver with a blue-circle-front cuff-links into the sleeves.He turned up the collar of the shirt and looped his dark-blue,almost black bow tie around his head and knotted it.He slapped some aftershave on his freshly cut,but not- completely-shaved beard and sprayed on some cologne.Satisfied with his appearance,he pulled on his dinner jacket that was a shade of dark-blue,matching his already put on dinner trousers and cufflinks.The peaked lapels of the suit were black,creating a sophisticated contrast that matched with his dark hair,his bow tie matched the dark blue,bond-like suit,but was slightly darker than the suit itself.He lined the frontal pocket with a white silk square so that it was parallel to the top of the pocket,but barely peaked over,and buttoned only one of the buttons on his jacket.Finally ready to go,he grabbed his mask,laced up his black shoes and made his way to Meredith's house.

Meredith

Applying a final touch of lipstick and adjusting the strap of her sliver dress,Meredith walked to the door which was being profusely knocked on,and opened it revealing Alex.

"Well don't you look spiffy,"Meredith mocked him as he walked inside.

"Yeah,yeah you look nice,"Alex retorted,"You ready to go?"

"Two seconds,I'm just gonna grab my purse and mask,and say bye to the kids and the sitter,wait for me in the car."

Alex nodded and walked out of the house,with Meredith soon following.The two arrived at the venue and entered the building,a crowd of people doing the same.

Finally reaching the room where it was being held,the two side-barred and put on their masks.Alex's mask was black with blue and silver piping,it covered his eye-strip and matched his suit.

When the two were done,they strided into the grand room,it was elegant to say the least,and very filled with a lot of people they didn't recognise.After searching for a few minutes the two saw Jackson and straight away walked over to him,Meredith asked,"Jackson,isn't this a bit...fancy?"

"Meredith.That's the total point,"he sighed,"just try to get some funds okay?"

Alex chimed in,"Pretty sure you spent them all on this,"Meredith laughed before Alex caught sight of the bar,"Right,I know where I'll be this evening,"he said as he made a beeline for one of the many bars.

"Can I get a whiskey,neat?"Alex said as he leaned against the bar,Alex didn't intend to get drunk,he just needed something to take the edge of,he couldn't lie and say the reason he hadn't dressed up so nice was to hopefully impress Jo.

"Right away,"the masked bartender responded.A few minutes later,the bartender handed Alex his drink and he began slowly sipping it,but straightened his posture as to look more smart.As he looked towards the entrance,he was suddenly filled with rage as he saw Dean Harris walk in,in an all black suit and mask.Immediately he stomped over to Meredith who was busy trying to charm the money out of someone,"I need to talk to you,"he said as he pulled her away back to the bar.

"I'm so sorry, excuse me,"Meredith said to the woman she was talking to before yelling,"Alex! I was talking to someone to someone."

"Yeah yeah,what the hell is he doing here?"Alex said furiously pointing his head towards Dean who was now comfortably talking to people.

"Alex,he's good publicity for the hospital,I know he's a jerk but just..avoid him or something,it's a big room."

"I hate him.He's a jerk.He doesn't even work here."

"And neither do you technically,yet."

"Me and Izzie have been talking and we think we might stay,"he told her but clearly she was distracted looking to the side of him.

Meredith nodded then cocked her head to the side,lowering it,indicating for Alex to look in the direction,he spun round and his eyes were met with the sight of Jo entering the room.

She was wearing a black,plunging v-neck gown,that showed off the top of her abdomen and cleavage,parts of the dress were translucent and showed of her skin,the whole of her back was bare and uncovered completely.It had a thigh-high leg slit that showed of her long legs.It was like she was the only person in the room in that very moment to Alex,he was paralysed just by looking at her.The front of the dress had a black pattern embroidering it.Her heels and mask were both black,with the mask having an intricate silver pattern across it.She had long, dangly silver earrings that complemented her mask.Two frontal strands of hair were pulled around her head forming a miniature bun with the rest of her brown locs falling comfortably down her back.Her rouge red lipstick,completed the whole look perfectly and her tanned,glowing skin matched with her hazel eyes.Her appearance torturously enchanting toAlex,he worshipped her beauty and mannerisms.

Alex's jaw dropped and eyebrows raised when he took in her appearance as he said,not really to Meredith,just thinking out loud,"Wow."Looking at her now he was so incredibly in awe of her beauty,speechless even.

"Have fun lover boy,I have money to charm out of people,"Meredith whispered as she took off.Alex stood at the bar for the next couple of minutes or so,not taking his eyes of Jo for one second,she was still oblivious to his presence in the room.

Jo walked over to another bar,retrieved a drink of what looked like champagne and began talking to people comfortably taking sips in between sentences.Meredith shot Alex a glaring look telling him to start talking to people,after taking another swig of his drink he approached the first person he saw and began talking to the man.

Alex began comfortably charming the person,telling him how he saved babies lives and in between words he'd throw glances at Jo seeing what she was doing,not in a creepy way,he just genuinely couldn't keep his eyes off of her,she looked absolutely stunning,it was like his eyes had a magnetic attraction to her.

Now scanning around the room,Jo finally saw Alex.She felt her breath shorten and a small gasp escape at the sight of him,he looked so handsome and attractive in his suit,she could see he was comfortably talking with another man,whom she didn't recognise,but genuinely couldn't keep her eyes of off him in that moment,the man talking to her was basically talking to a wall.

And then his eyes flickered up to meet her's,through the crowd of people dancing.Jo pulled her eyes down immediately,but then just as quickly pulled them back up to meet his again.The two stared at each other taking in the others appearance.He couldn't see her eyes that well due to the mask she was wearing,but he could see her lips part and her breathing become more deep.The man next to her was still engaging in conversion next to her,but she wasn't at all paying attention,and neither was Alex to the person beside him.

Their dual stare was interrupted when Dean Harris approached her causing her to pull her eyes away from Alex,who didn't pull his away from her for one second.

"I don't believe I've had the pleasure,and you are?"Dean said confidently.

"Dr.Wilson,Jo Wilson,"she clarified,"I'm a General surgeon Attending here at Grey-Sloan,"she responded intrigued by the man.

"Dean Harris,I'm a paediatric surgeon,and Dr.Wilson,might I add you look absolutely radiant tonight."

"Thank you, and I'm sure I've heard your name somewhere,"Jo smiled.The sight of the two together caused Alex's blood to boil,immediately wrapping up his current conversation and going to the bar.

"Jo Wilson?"he realised"Your work with Dr. Grey on the mini-livers was amazing,"he complemented her.

"How did you know about that?"

"I have my ways,"he said slyly,"Can I buy you a drink?"

Jo quickly calculated that this was probably the best way to avoid staring at Alex all night so she accepted,"Yes,yes you can,"she responded gesturing to the bar she'd got her drink from previously.

The two walked over to the bar and Dean greedily asked her,"So where's your boyfriend on a night like this?"

Jo laughed,"I wouldn't know,if I had one."

Alex watched from afar as the two talked back and forth.Meredith approached him,"Drowning in your sorrows?"

"Yep,"Alex responded.As Alex looked back at Jo again,this time he saw the two were dancing and his face went white."Why of all people in the room,does she have to be dancing with him ?"Alex asked,his voice laced with anger.

"Because he's attractive,charming and a surgeon.Alex."

"He's also an arrogant pig."

Dean's hand was comfortably resting on Jo's hip as the two danced and talked at the same time which brought out a surge of jealousy in Alex,but he dismissed in turning it into sadness as he knew he had no right to be jealous.

"So what brings you to Grey-Sloan?"Jo asked.

"I'm here for a case,with Dr. Karev,"he responded,emphasised his disgust when he said Karev.Jo immediately felt a wave of guilt,looking over at Alex and see the anger in him based on how tightly he was gripping his drink,his knuckles were practically white.

"He's a great surgeon,"Jo told him in admiration of his reputation.

"Not sure I agree with you on that one,"Dean responded arrogantly leaving Jo speechless,"But I like it here,I like the people,"he said referring to her."I might stay awhile I'm not sure."

Meredith quietly whispered in Alex's ear,"You know there is a thing called cutting-in," before she returned back to the social side of the night.Exhaling nervously and finishing his drink,Alex stood up from the bar and made his way over to the two,stopping a few metres short of the two due to nerves.Meredith nodded to him from the other side of the room urging him to approach the two.

"Do you mind if I cut in?"
