A/N I am completely overwhelmed by the support I am getting for this story. I assure you I am doing my research and trying to get things right. While this is Olitz, it is also exposing the difficulty women have in this country acquiring a government job, especially one that's considered "A man's job" such as secret service detail. Olivia is going to face challenges all while falling in love with the man she was hired to protect.
As for the Russian connection, it's a job duty for Olivia, chosen to do because of her knowledge of the Russian language. There may or may not be a "leak" in the White House for that.
As for the assassination attempt, trust me, this will take an unexpected turn and I've provided some details towards that in this Chapter. It is however, separate from the investigation Liv is currently conducting.
All this while trying to keep Olitz together. Imagine the faith America would lose in securing the secret service to protect the president and hiring women to do so if it is found out that one of the best agents has a love connection to this powerful leader? How will America react if this is revealed?
Stay tuned, and thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for reading and motivating me to continue with this story. It will not disappoint (Hopefully).
Chapter 11 Taking Action
When Olivia was in high school, her body started to develop when she was a sophomore. It was then that she noticed boys starting to notice her. Olivia had always been a straight A student. She never noticed boys as being attractive. She had a few friends, a few girls, a few boys whom she had known since grammar school. She was not very close to them. They were more like acquaintances. It felt, to Olivia anyway, they saw her as odd. That was fine with her. She spent her days with her parents, studying, and doing things she wanted to do.
When the boys started asking her out on dates, and she ignored them or refused, the student body started to question if she even liked boys at all. It really didn't bother her. Olivia was true to herself, had plenty of self-confidence, and never let the thoughts or words of others get to her. She was always self-motivated to do her best in everything, and this was supported by her parents.
Her senior year, Lance had asked her to the prom. She was very surprised he had asked her. He was very good looking, a star running back for the football team, and could have any girl in the school. She knew this and questioned him right away. He answered with a "you're the most beautiful girl in the class, I need to ask you first." His stare never left her eyes and her gut told her he was being sincere. She accepted, reluctantly, but she figured all the girls who truly wanted him would just have to sit back and accept it. They did have a wonderful time at prom, and Olivia did look absolutely stunning that night. It was that night when she shared her first kiss with Lance, but she didn't feel much when it happened. Olivia knew this was not meant to be and when the night was over, she thanked him for a good time, and he accepted her honesty. He went on to play collegiate football, and last Olivia heard he was married, had three kids, and was coaching at a high school in Virginia. Olivia sometimes wondered what would have happened had she lied to herself and started dating him. She realized she would never want to be with a man that she truly did not love.
Now, here, tonight, on her way to the airport, she rested her head on the shoulder of the most powerful man in the world. She can tell herself honestly, that he brought out a woman in her she never knew was inside of her. The more the days passed, the more she thought of him and the more she had feelings for him. There are times at night she doesn't sleep. She just remembers the warmth of his arms, the taste of his lips, and the feeling of her first time with him.
"I saw you push him away Livvie, is this guy going to continue to be a problem?" Fitz was inquiring about Brian.
"No, Fitz, he's not. He was never like this, I am surprised. But I am pretty sure after tonight, he's going to stay away. If he doesn't I am going to give a call to his parents and talk to them." She looked up at Fitz. "You know my plane leaves in less than two hours, I need to get to the airport."
"Oh that", he said, "yeah, you're not flying commercial. I arranged a plane to take you and Huck. We have time to get you there. I am not going to see you for a month, I don't want to spend any more time away from you than I have to. You'll be on a flight soon, just later than originally thought", and the smirk on his face reminded Olivia of a little boy who just received an unexpected gift on Christmas Day.
So, when Olivia tells herself Fitz brings out a woman in her she didn't know she had inside, this is what she means. In the back of the presidential limo, parked in a small, private airport parking lot, Olivia sat up, put one leg opposite side of him and sat directly on his erection. She ran her hands in his hair. She loved his soft hair, it was such a turn on to her, and she kissed him, deeply, as he met her kiss with his hand on the back of neck pushing as much of her into his mouth as he could. "He's all yours Livvie, don't let him go now."
When Fitz was in high school, he was quite the lady's man. He was rich, gorgeous, and was very popular amongst the student body. He dated several girls, was sexually active, but never committed to one woman. He knew he would be off in the Navy soon after high school and would be completing his law degree eventually. No way he would ever love a woman enough to be committed to just one.
When his father introduced him to a young law student named Melody, he knew immediately what his father was up to. He argued frequently with his father and told him he did not believe in marrying a person he did not love. His father would have no hearing of it. Fitz was getting married if he wanted any future in politics.
When Mellie's infidelity became an issue, Fitz was relieved. He didn't need to fulfill his marriage vows to a woman he did not love. Even though he yearned to be a father, he was happy he did not have any children with Mellie.
After his father passed, he had no desire to keep his father's wishes, he was free, and there was no need to live a life that wasn't his. He was a good politician; he didn't need a woman by his side to be successful. If he had to be the first single president in the White House, after many years of married ones, then that was a chance he had to take. He was honest with the American people. Cyrus was a big help also, selling his non commitment to a woman to more commitment to his country.
Now, here he is with Olivia Pope. A woman who he literally lifted into his arms and fell in love with instantly. She did things to his body he never knew he had inside. Just the thought of her would give him an erection. He wanted to spend every waking day next to her. He thought of her every day, when he woke up and when he went to sleep at night. He loved to touch her soft skin and her aggressiveness for being so sexually innocent was such a turn on. There is nothing he wouldn't do for her.
As they were kissing, in the back of a car like a bunch of ravenous high schoolers doing it for the first time, Olivia could think of one thing. She wanted to protect him, she wanted him to be the best president for this country, but she wanted him as weak as possible this very moment.
Fitz, as they were kissing could think of one thing. He wanted her protected at all costs, he didn't want her to lose her life protecting him, and he wanted her to lose all control this possible moment.
Olivia pulled back and look at Fitz, "we can't Fitz, we did it once without protection, and I am sure we're fine, but…."
"Livvie, you think I came to get you and send you off for a month without thinking of that?" as he pulled a condom out.
Olivia wasn't sure what the meaning of hot sex was, but this was pretty damn close to describing it. They weren't fully naked, but Fitz guided Olivia's bare hips right on to his growing erection. She was no longer surprised at how well he slipped right into her. She was slowly going up and down on him while he pulled her, once again, into his mouth. She really couldn't control the moaning coming from deep within her, as she felt him go deeper into him. Olivia would never want anyone else ever inside of her than this man, her one true love.
Fitz was in a state of complete weakness. He felt how deep he was inside of her, both down there, and in her mouth. He heard her moans, and he realized their surroundings, and he moved her faster as she wrapped her arms tightly around him and lost herself in her climax.
Having felt her body weaken right on top of him, Fitz buried his face deep in her neck and reached his climax. "Jesus, Olivia, what you do to me, it's amazing, what am I going to do without you for a month?"
Although she was in an awkward position, she rested her head on his chest, looked around and realized where may Burns have gone? Had he heard all of this? She quickly jumped off of Fitz and asked him about Burns. "Relax Livvie, he knew I needed alone time with you. I will call him when you're ready to get on the plane. He is with Huck right now discussing some things.
Olivia got herself together. "Fitz, I promise you I will not disappoint you. We will get to the bottom of this. I will call you everyday with an update. In the meantime, what's going on here? You ready to bring Cyrus into the plan?"
"I am, after my meeting tonight with the I put one of the guys on him for security. He's on our side Liv, I trust him. We're working on this also, amongst other things. You have all the equipment you need?"
"We do, Huck and I are ready. We will start bright and early tomorrow right after check in at the St. Paul field office. We have the list of agents we can trust and we will get started on the small businesses first. You will go down in history as getting a very big bust in your first year as president, I promise, now let me go get started fulfilling your legacy mister."
"I love you Livvie, you be careful, and I don't want you worrying about me. You focus on the investigation and get back here so I can have you on my detail and I can watch you all day."
Olivia rubbed his face, pulled him close for a gentle kiss and said "I love you, too, and I will worry. I will worry about you, I will worry about Abby, and I will worry about not doing a good enough job, but it will motivate me, and I'll be fine."
She exited the car and saw Huck and Burns sitting on a bench several yards away. They had the bags and the plane was beyond them ready for takeoff. Huck shook Burn's hand. If Huck liked the guy, he must be ok.
Fitz watched as the two of them boarded the plane. As his car pulled away, he got down to his first order of business. This administration was not going to look weak in any way to the American people. This was not happening under his watch as president, and Fitz was starting to clean house. "Cyrus, prepare for a meeting with the press first thing in the morning. They'll be hearing of some firings."
Jake Ballard was on the phone with the press secretary from the White House. After striking out with the Lauren, Fitz's secretary, he called the one person who owed him a favor, Kevin Maxwell, the press secretary. Maxwell, as he was called, was also a hire from the previous president. He needed the venue for Fitz for the next two months and he owed Jake a favor. Jake had helped Maxwell bury a body after Maxwell, drunk, had killed a pedestrian. Now, Jake wanted what he wanted, or he goes to the authorities on an anonymous tip because the woman is still listed as missing. Maxwell will have no choice but to help Jake.
In the meantime, Vincent Devirgil, Chief of Staff to the Secretary of Defense had stolen some programs off a highly classified computer. He was working with his brother to destroy Grant. Some of these files, if leaked will make this country look weak, and Devirgil was happy to be the man to do this. First, make this administration look weak, and then kill the president. It seemed so simple, especially now, when the administration was focusing on leaks within the secret service. This was a welcomed, yet unexpected distraction for Devirgil and his brother. Fitz is responsible for the downfall of Devirgil's brother and he would like nothing more than for Fitz to be taken down.
Devirgil was born out of wedlock, a product of an affair between his mother, Annette Devirgil and her lover, David Nichols. David wanted nothing to do with Vincent or with Annette once he found out she was pregnant with him, so she gave Vincent her maiden name, and Vincent grew up never knowing his father. It wasn't until his brother found him through DNA tests that he found out his true identity.
As soon as Fitz became president and it was clear he had no first lady on his side, the talk began in California. It immediately came out that his Lt. Governor was screwing the new president's wife and the people put no faith in him as ever being governor . They called for a special election and Andrew Nichols was sent packing. Mellie wanted no part of him, either, she had her own ambitions, so off he went, shamed and angry. He now lived his days out in a trailer park thinking of ways to kill that bastard Grant and he was using all his cards to make sure this mission in accomplished.
The plan was in motion, now if only this idiot Ballard could get a venue and Vincent can start leaking some documents, this would be happening within a few months. This whole Russian attack and secret service distrust made this plan even easier to move forward. It was just a matter of time that Nichols would get to live in happiness in watching Grant go down, preferably in a hail of bullets.
During the flight, Huck and Olivia talked strategy. This investigation was already halfway solved thanks to Simms and her impeccable note keeping. It pained Olivia that Simms couldn't be part of watching this go down. It was clear she had no faith in the previous administration, otherwise, this could have been solved with some good investigating. Olivia made a promise to herself she would honor Simms and bring this to a close.
The day before Simms was killed, she had identified a warehouse in St. Paul where a high-tech money-making machine had been delivered. It had come through the ports of Baltimore, having the help of two of her own agents, unknown to her at the time, and transported to a truck that drove to St. Paul. Simm's had put it in her notes that she was calling the St. Paul office to get a warrant for a raid at that warehouse. The mystery was how anyone had found out what Simms had known because no phone records or emails indicated she contacted anyone about this, so why was she killed?
Once they were settled in St. Paul, Olivia would check in at the field office while Huck started some wiretapping on the phones of local businesses where the counterfeit money was passed. None of the owners cared to go forward with pressing charges, and it's Olivia's feelings they are being threatened. Huck would also pay a visit to the warehouse and put some cameras in the areas so they can monitor the activity happening around warehouse. Once he scopes out the place, he will find a way inside to install a camera.
After checking in, Olivia will personally pay a visit to the local businesses, identify herself, and see if any of them would be willing to talk. If she doesn't have any luck, she will at least let it be known that an investigation is going on, and this will cause the action to take off.
What Olivia doesn't know, but will soon find out, is she is not only dealing with counterfeit money. Once she enters these shops, she will see fakes of all kinds. Knockoffs being sold as designer merchandise. Olivia is about to enter into a world of counterfeit that has been in operation for years, and although she still has a day to figure out how deep this goes, she will be involved in one of the biggest counterfeit busts in history, or she will die trying to bust it.
Cyrus, Fitz, Maxwell, and a group of press met in the briefing room n the White House. Fitz addressed the eager journalists will a slew of breaking news stories. He stood in front of them and shocked them all with his announcement. They all took notes as quickly as they could having wanted their stations and outlets to be the first to report what President Grant was doing. In fact, his words even shocked Cyrus as he wasn't aware of how deep the firings would go. CNB was the first with the breaking news and America listened in and watched as the news hit the wire.
"This morning, President Grant announced drastic changes to be taking place at the White House effective immediately. Vincent Devirgil, Chief of staff to the Sec of Defense, Jacob Ballard, director of Homeland Security, Kevin Maxwell, Press Secretary, two members of Secret Service Paul Barth and Josh Lowery are all fired. Grant gave no indication why these men were stripped of their job duties, but he hinted that more terminations were to come.
Cyrus Beene will be making a statement later on today if there are any replacements for these individuals. In the meantime, CNB is learning that Grant is clearing the White House of any ties to the previous administration and said the cleanup was well overdue. We are already seeing a rise in Grant's approval ratings, as he is stepping up and being the bold leader the American people elected him to be. We will have more on this story as it develops throughout the day."
Within the hour the news had hit all over the country. He sat in the Oval with Cyrus and waited patiently, as one by one, everyone announced in the news report entered his office. He was ready to have some fun.
Meanwhile in St. Paul, Huck found the warehouse without any trouble and was beginning to install the first of five cameras. On the other side of town, Olivia met two agents, Callie Sampson, and Judith Perch. She had requested two women be her partners, no offense to the men on duty, but no women were suspected as being a part of this ring, and Olivia wanted to put her life and trust in to two agents she knew would be loyal. Together they left and entered the first store where a counterfeit bill was passed exactly one year ago. Olivia was ready to have some fun. "That's my girl"
