It's been a couple weeks; Lilith has managed to get them information about what's going on inside the castle. Thing's like guard scheduling, what he's planning, where the portal is being held. Lilith did her job, now it was time for Eda and Luz to do their job. They had to go to the castle and scout out the way the guards move and when it would be a good time to sneak in. They were going to head out in the morning. Eda went up to Luz room and knocked on the door.

"Hey, Kiddo. You okay in there?"

Silence. Eda opened the door and saw Luz laying on her sleeping bag.

"Luz? Are you okay?" Eda asked.

Luz looked over her shoulder.

"Yeah, I'm just... there's no going back after tomorrow. Tomorrow we take the first steps to war."

"You're nervous." Eda said.

"Is it that obvious?"

"Kid, you are about to become the face of a revolution. It's understandable that you would be nervous."

"Eda, what if something happens? What if-"

"Kid, if there is one thing, I know about leading a revolt, it's that you should never have thoughts like that. You don't want to show that you're scared, you try not to show any emotion. If you do, your enemy will try to use that against you."

"You sound like you've done that before." Luz giggled, "The Day of Unity is on the fifteenth of July, right?"

"Yeah, why?"

"That's my birthday."

Hearing this, Eda reached into her hair. She pulled out a Ka-Bar knife and handed it to Luz.

"Well, happy early birthday. Owlbert found this during a Human Treasure run, it's one of those things I keep for myself. Sorry if it isn't your thing, but I figured I might as well get you something."

Luz took the knife and smiled. She jumped and hugged Eda.

"I love it. Thank you, Eda"

Luz didn't know how to use a knife, but the mere thought of someone, other than her mother, giving her a gift instantly made it the best gift ever. Eda smiled and hugged her back.

"You're welcome, Luz." Eda said, "Still feeling nervous?"

Luz shook her head.

"I don't need to be when I have my friends with me."

Eda smiled until she was the look in Luz's eyes. She could tell Luz was still a little nervous. She knew what to do.

"How about this, Kiddo, why don't you sleep with me tonight? It could help prevent any nightmares."

"O-okay."

Luz followed Eda and laid next to her in Eda's nest. Luz clung to Eda and quickly fell asleep. Eda put a hand on Luz's head and kissed her forehead.

"I promise, nothing will go wrong. I won't let anything happen to you."

That would be horrible, if Luz had a traumatic experience on her birthday. Eda knew what that was like, her and Lilith were in the Coven try-outs on Eda's birthday. The day she first became the Owl Beast.
