Sonic Legacy: Downfall
Chapter 12: Battle between worlds
At the realm of Evesar, between the tall, white and rustic buildings, among the trees and the bindweed that adorned them, over the white and rocky floor and under the dark blue, star filled sky, a great battle was taking place between the armies of three realms, Evesar, Ekil and Kcor, with the last two being allies as they were part of The Coalition. The realm of Evesar was being defended by its own army, being conformed mostly by echidnas and hedgehogs, who wore white armors that had golden details over them. The warriors of Evesar fought with the beams of light that they shot from their hands while Kcor´s soldiers confronted them with the thick rocks they generated. The warriors of Ekil attacked Evesar´s forces using their telekinetic abilities, lifting up the white armored soldiers, dropping them, crushing them against the ground, Evesar´s deadly and bright beams went through the flesh of the enemies, Kcor´s hard rocks squashed the warriors of Aleena´s realm and Ekil´s outlandish powers held, threw and broke Evesar´s warriors.
Silver the Hedgehog was hiding behind a nearby building, looking carefully at the battle as he poked his head out. "What the heck is going on?" He said to himself with a tone of great worry and confusion. Silver was wearing a dark blue jumpsuit.
"Silver." A female voice said all of a sudden.
"Yikes!" Silver screamed while jumping by the fright, then he sighed with relief when seeing his friend standing right before him. "Philis, you scared the heck out of me!" He mumbled with an upset tone.
"S...sorry." Philis, an orange furred female fox who was also wearing a dark blue bodysuit, was trembling while getting closer to Silver. Her hair was brown and not too long, also not too short. "Wh...where are we?" Her voice was broken and full of fear. She took Silver´s hand.
"I have no idea, Philis." Silver replied and turned briefly to keep looking at the battle. "I...I just appeared between those people." He pointed at the warriors who were using their telekinetic abilities. "I ran away immediately, of course." Silver looked back at her. "I won´t fight a battle I don´t even know about."
"Oh...that´s what I did too, but I was among those instead." Philis pointed at the warriors of Kcor, the ones that crushed their enemies with the hardness of their sudden rocks.
"Hmm..." Silver scratched his chin while witnessing the battle. "Why do we share powers with these people? What do we have to do with them?"
"Silver..." Philis squeezed his hand strongly. "...I´m very scared."
"Hey..." Silver looked at her and placed his hand on her shoulder reassuringly. "I don´t know what this is all about, but I won´t let anything happen to you." He hugged her. "Do you trust me?"
"I do." Philis said with a lump in her throat.
"Okay." Silver broke the hug then poked his head out again. He shook his head as the number of warriors that were fighting there was too big. Silver let out a sigh and looked around him, spotting a small peninsula down the cliff behind them. "There." He pointed at the distant piece of land.
Philis turned her gaze towards the peninsula. "Yes...it looks safe."
"Maybe only for a while, but that´s all we can get now." Silver gestured at the place. "Come on." He started to walk towards the edge of the cliff, finding a path between the vegetation and the ruins of an old edifice. "Watch your steps." He took her hand while walking down the rocky and sloping path.
An intense battle noise was heard afterwards, scaring Philis. "Silver!" Philis hugged him.
"Calm down..." Silver stroked her back. I´m here. Just keep walking."
Meanwhile, in the rustic city of Spagonia, under a bright sunset, the warriors of Erif, including Blaze and Spark, were fighting against the forces of Eria and Krad, power of light and fire against ones of wind and darkness. The guardians of Erif were of several species, including cats, dogs and wolves while the forces of Eria were mostly echidnas and Krad´s army was composed solely by foxes. Krad´s warriors made their enemies tremble over the ground while blinding them with an inner darkness and triggering a strong pain in their hearts, they also threw them with the gestures of their hands. The warriors of Eria battled Erif´s forces with windy blows, lifting some of their soldiers and crushing them against the concrete, deflecting their flaming attacks and bringing them down with medium sized tornadoes.
Spark was taking cover behind an overturned truck, along with his mentor, Zul the Cougar. "We are too few!" Spark said.
"I know!" Zul replied with desperation, she was wearing the long red dress that she always tended to wear. "We need reinforcements..." Zul screamed after hearing a loud explosion then let out a sigh. "...and quickly."
Spark looked at his side and saw his mother fighting a group of warriors from Eria. "Be right back." He stood up and hurried towards his mother.
"Wait! Spark! Don´t leave m..." Zul grunted while standing up and flaming up her hands, heading to the main battle.
Blaze jumped and dodged with grace while throwing fire attacks at the soldiers, burning them until charred. A last warrior remained, the most skilled of that group, evading Blaze´s fire and trying to hit her with his wind. Blaze somersaulted towards the black armored echidna, with her hands burning on fire then she landed on him, bringing him down and burning his head until dead. She gasped before inhaling and exhaling deeply, slowly standing up. Spark approached her afterwards. "Hey, mom! These guys are sweeping the floor with us! That was cool by the way..." He shook his head. "The thing is...we need more, like, way more people to win this."
Blaze sighed. "They´ve recruited so many people from this world." She turned her gaze at the battle for a moment then looked back at her son. "That means we have to do the same."
"But who? Like, anyone?" Spark raised an eyebrow.
"Absolutely not." Blaze responded. "We need special people, people like us." She got thoughtful for a moment then nodded slowly while looking away. "There´s one that could balance things a bit." She let out a sigh. "It´s more a bet than anything, I don´t even know if he is still, well, alive."
"Who?" Spark inquired with curiosity.
"Vanik the Hedgehog." Blaze replied. "Sonic´s son."
Spark gasped. "Wait...like, for real?"
Blaze looked at him with a straight face. "Yes, Spark, for real." She placed a hand on her son´s shoulder. "There´ll be time for explanations later, for now, I need you to go find him. He lives in Timber Town."
"Never heard of that place." Spark said.
"Exactly." Blaze sighed. "Please, son. Just take the ship, set the destination and put it in auto-pilot, it will lead you there. That´s all you have to do."
"But, I mean, how does he look like? I can´t ju..." Spark was interrupted.
"Blue quills, green eyes." Blaze replied.
"O...okay." Spark scratched his nape. "So, I gotta go, like, right n..?"
Blaze hugged him all of a sudden. "I trust you, son." She broke the hug and kissed his cheek. "Just be careful, alright?"
Spark nodded hesitantly. "Alright, mom."
On the meantime, Tails and Tanya were fighting against more soldiers from Eria and Krad. Tails shot at them with his robotic weapon, strapped to his arm, electrocuting them with the red ray it expelled while dodging their windy and obscure attacks with the help of his two tails, flying to evade them. Tanya fought them with her agility and hand to hand combat skills, punching and kicking gracefully, blocking their hits and bringing them to unconsciousness with the strength and precision of her kicks and punches.
Shadow and Rogue had stayed in Evesar, fighting alongside Sonia and Aleena. Shadow ran with his super speed between the armies of Ekil and Kcor while punching their armored bodies, bringing several soldiers down while Rogue flew above them and lifted them in pairs before throwing them off a cliff. She also battled the soldiers with her developed fighting skills. Sonia hovered powerfully before the hordes, shooting beams of light from her hands, destroying them on mere seconds, same as her mother, Queen Aleena. "They are no match for us!" Sonia boasted.
"The war is just starting, daughter of mine!" Aleena shot her bright and deadly beams intermittently towards the soldiers. "Don´t trust yourself so much!"
Shadow was fighting hand to hand with a pair of soldiers from the realm of Kcor, a wolf and a coyote, protected with crimson armors, which weren´t strong enough to handle Shadow´s unmerciful fists. He crouched and jumped to evade their punches. "You´re too incompetent..." Shadow jumped and grabbed their heads, then brought himself down quickly, smashing their heads on the hard ground, killing them instantly. He dusted off his hands while looking at the blood that came from the cracks on their helmets. "...to call yourself warriors."
"You are all brave men." Rogue was surrounded by five soldiers, two from Ekil and three from Kcor. "Five against one." She provoked them with a daring gesture. "This should be fun." The five soldiers approached her rapidly, with their fists ready to take her down, but she flew upwards and made them collide with each other. The soldiers fell to the ground and stood up rapidly but Rogue started to throw flying kicks at them, hitting their faces strongly, denting their crimson and light blue helmets. One of them generated a big rock out of nowhere with his power, he threw it at her but she dodged it, flying barely above the ground and stepping on the rocky projectile briefly to take impulse then she landed with her two feet over the canine soldier, bringing him down. "Nice one, honey." She kicked his face with her heel, leaving him unconscious. "But not enough." She flew away, in search for more soldiers to deal with.
