Tig returns to the clubhouse with a bag full of breakfast. He pushes the door open and looks around. Chibs is laid up on the bar while Juice is sprawled out across the pool table, both with crow eaters. He scoffs as he looks around.
"Breakfast is here." He drops the bag on the table with a big thud.
He watches as Juice nearly falls off the pool table and Chibs tosses the woman off the couch.
The two men join him at the table, grabbing themselves a burrito from the bag.
"Damn where'd you run off to this morning?"
Juice shares a look with Tig and instantly, he knows exactly where he went. He smirks as he walks off down the hallway.
Tig follows behind him down the hallway to his own room, grabbing his work shirt from the hamper before he walks across the lot and into the shop.
Diana grabs her purse and backpack from the passenger seat as she walks into the office. She keeps her head down as she steps into her office, attempting to close the door behind her until someone's slips their foot in the doorjamb. It's her ex, Jonathan, and she inhales a deep breath.
"What do you want?" She ask as she circles around her desk.
Unfortunately, he seems to think it means he's welcome into her office. He closes the door behind him.
"You look like you've had a rough morning."
Diana rolls her eyes in response.
"On the contrary, it's been pretty damn good."
She goes to work, coding and typing, hoping that he'll take a hint. But he doesn't. He sits down across from her.
"What do you need?" She asks again, now annoyed.
Jonathan inhales a slow breath.
"A second chance."
Diana all but laughs out loud. They never worked. He didn't like her working in the bar. It was always a competition between the two of them, especially when it came to this job.
"There's the door."
She's nonchalant about it and she can tell that it infuriates him.
He sits there, his grip on the chair tightening as he grits his teeth.
Diana continues working. She's not here to discuss their relationship or the lack thereof. She's there to do her job and leave. Besides, she's got something much better than she could have ever asked for. Even though she's clueless as to what she's really got. She's enjoying it the best she can.
"I don't need you. I'm not here to talk about 'us', I'm here to do my job." She doesn't look up from her computer.
Finally he gets the message and he storms out of her office.
Just in time for Diana's phone to buzz. She picks it up to see it's Tig and she smiles.
"Wow, saw you this morning and you're already calling?"
There's a laugh on the other end of the line.
"Figured I wouldn't leave you hanging this time."
She hums happily to herself. She figured it'd be a few days before she heard from him again so this comes as a surprise.
"Appreciate it." She laughs softly.
She continues working.
Tig clears his throat on the other end of the line.
"Come to Charming this weekend. Bring Knox if you want. I'd love to see him."
Diana raises an eyebrow.
"You just want to see Knox again." She feigns disappointment.
Tig laughs loudly, enough to warm her heart.
"Yeah, maybe."
The two go back and forth for a few minutes until she looks up to see Jonathan again. She puts the phone down.
"Unless it's about work, I'm in the middle of a conversation."
The man opens his mouth to speak but instead he walks off.
She turns around in her chair, putting the phone back up to her ear.
"Sorry about that. I'll see what my schedule looks like."
She doesn't want to seem desperate, and who's to say that they're even remotely exclusive. Diana knows him, but she doesn't know him that well. She doesn't know what to expect. He could get what he wants then just disappear. A part of her worries but at the same time, she's enjoying herself.
"Let me know." Tig says before the line goes dead.
Diana knows her schedule is free but Tig doesn't need to know that right away. She watches as the time drags by slowly until it hits five o'clock. She packs up before she walks out of her office, locking the door behind her. She walks to her car to find Jonathan waiting for her in the parking lot.
She doesn't understand why he wants a second chance. They only dated for about six months until she ended it because she didn't see it going anywhere and she thought he felt the same but it was apparent there was something different for him.
"Let me take you out." Jonathan offers, opening her car door for her.
She hesitates to answer. She doesn't think he'd hurt her, but at the same time, the way he's acting has her a little nervous.
"I have to go work at my other job tonight but maybe later this week."
She sits down in the driver's seat and starts the ignition.
"Of course you do." Jonathan scoffs in response.
Diana rolls her eyes and slams the door before she throws the car into drive, nearly speeding out of the parking lot towards the bar.
She pulls into her driveway a little after two in the morning. It had been a rough night at the bar, considering they were a person short. She had barely been able to pull her phone out all night. She climbs the steps and pushes open the door to find Knox happily jumping at her return.
There's a bright smile on her lips as Knox nearly jumps up to lick her cheek. Even if her house was empty, Knox was the one who made it a home. She moves through the house, walking from room to room. She dumps her laundry in the washing machine and stops to feed Knox before she walks into her bedroom to change clothes. By this point, she was dragging on her feet and she still had another day like this.
She moves to let Knox out of the house before she stands in the kitchen, waiting.
Knox typically takes his sweet time and Diana lets him. It gives him time to run around the yard and it gives her time to get a glass of wine to wind down with. She pulls out her phone to text Tig.
"I'll be there Friday." She sends the message without a second thought.
To say that she was excited was an understatement. Between Jonathan and her night at the bar. She wants a break from it. Even though she just got back from Vegas. She didn't realize that this was what she was coming back to. She waits for a response but it is radio silence. She finishes her glass of wine as Knox comes running through the back door before she locks up and collapses into bed with the dog.
Tig doesn't return to the clubhouse until early the next morning. He walks back into his room and tosses the burner phone to the side, throwing his cutte off on the chair. The door behind him opens and someone's arms snake around his midsection. All he wants is to crawl into bed, alone. He grabs the girl's wrists, throwing them off of him.
"Get out." He points towards the door.
He collapses on the bed, face first into the pillow. He listens for the door to close before he rolls over to grab his phone. He sees a message from Diana.
"See you soon." He can barely type as his eyes droop from exhaustion.
i just want to say again how much i adore every single one of you
