Anna pulled into the driveway beside a line of motorcycles and her mom's Escalade. She inhaled a deep breath before she unbuckled her seatbelt. It had been a long time since she had seen everyone and the thought overwhelmed her. Inhaling a few deep breaths, Anna climbed out of the car and she started unbuckling Olivia. David's phone began to ring.
"I'll be in in a minute." David told her as he answered the phone.
Anna grabbed the food they had bought and carried it to the front door, along with Olivia on her hip. Gemma opened the door and pulled her daughter into a tight hug.
"I'm glad you made it." Gemma kissed her daughter's cheek.
Another girl walked up to Anna and pulled the food from her hands, carrying it into the kitchen.
Anna shouted her thanks towards the other girl's direction. Once she walked into the dining room, Jax was the first to approach his sister. He kissed Anna's forehead before he leaned down to kiss Olivia's cheek. Olivia was quick to rub her cheek and Jax laughed.
"It's nice to see you around." He told her and Anna nodded slowly.
The next one that approached her was Bobby and Half-Sack, which Anna had only met on one other occasion.
Bobby pulled her into a tight hug, nearly lifting her off the ground.
"I can't believe how much she's grown." Bobby looked at Olivia.
"Me either." Anna readjusted Olivia.
Anna walked around, visiting with everyone she could. Tig walked up to her. He threw his arm around her shoulder, a smile on his lips.
"Long time, no see, Annie." Tig muttered.
"Yeah, I know. Life's been crazy." Anna shrugged him off.
Olivia reached for Tig and Anna raised an eyebrow at the man. He happily took Olivia off her hands.
"Can you say Uncle Tig?" He chuckled, walking around the kitchen.
For once, it was nice to not have to worry about Olivia. It felt like she could relax. She listened as the women in the kitchen cooed over her little girl. Tara sat down beside Anna and a long sigh escaped her lips.
"Hey Tara." Anna smiled softly.
Tara took a swig of her beer before she raised an eyebrow at Anna.
"Sometimes your mother could drive someone absolutely crazy." Tara muttered, just out of earshot of Gemma.
Anna nodded her head knowingly. She knew all too well about it.
"Trust me, I know." She chuckled lightly.
The front door opened and Anna looked up to see David walking in.
David kept his eyes on his wife as he moved towards her. Everyone's eyes were glued to him. The constant gaze from everyone felt like it was burning a hole through his shirt. The room fell silent upon his entrance.
"What was that phone call about?" Anna asked quietly.
David shook his head. He didn't want to bring it up in front of everyone.
"Come with me." David told her, walking into one of the empty bedrooms.
Anna followed close behind him, the sound of wolf-whistles called after them. The woman rolled her eyes before David closed the door behind her.
"The phone call was about Luann." David's voice was barely above a whisper, just in case someone was listening.
"What about her?" Anna asked.
"They found her body off the highway, beaten to death." David sighed as he ran a hand over his face.
He wasn't scared of the bikers, he just didn't know how they'd take the news. Anna sat down on the bed beside him and she grabbed his hand.
"You're goin' to have to tell them and someone's going to have to tell Otto." She spoke softly.
David nodded his head. He couldn't even begin to imagine how Otto would take it. If he were in Otto's shoes, he would all but lose it. David inhaled a few deep breaths and he rose to his feet and Anna didn't let his hand go.
"I'm right here." She assured him, following behind him as he opened the door.
The pair returned to the dining room and Anna sat down, while David leaned against her chair for support.
"I have some news…"
Everyone in the room turned to look at the deputy, each person held their breath.
"Some officers found a body off of the highway, turns out it was Luann Delaney." He finished, swallowing hard.
Anna turned to see her mom as she collapsed into the chair. Instinctively she moved towards Gemma and she wrapped an arm around her shoulders. Nothing was said but Gemma grabbed Anna's hand, squeezing tightly.
"If you need me to stay with you, I will." Anna offered.
Gemma smiled up at her daughter sadly. The older woman had lost one of her oldest friends and it hurt her more than she'd ever show.
"No, no I'll be fine." She waved her hand off.
Anna knew enough about her mother to know how she was. Everyone around them was rambling, discussing retaliation.
David looked over at his wife and he grabbed her hand. His blue eyes were glued to her, trying to signal that it was a good time for them to leave.
"I'll be fine, I promise." Gemma wrapped her arm around her daughter's waist.
Anna nodded, leaning down to kiss the top of her mother's head.
"Call me if you need anything." Anna offered with a soft smile.
Her mother nodded her head. Anna moved towards the kitchen to find Tig as he still held Olivia. Except this time, she was asleep on his chest.
"My daughter is not your excuse to pick up women." Anna gently picked Olivia up, hoping not to disturb her too much.
"I'd never." Tig smirked up at Anna but the woman just rolled her eyes.
Anna moved towards the front door and she stopped in front of Jax.
"Hey, let me know if mom needs anything." She whispered, looking back at Gemma over her shoulder.
Jax nodded his head slowly and pulled his sister into a tight hug.
"I'm glad you came." He smiled as he kissed his sister's cheek.
"Me too." She returned the sentiment as she walked out the door.
David stood beside the SUV while he opened his arms for his sleeping daughter. Anna handed her off before she climbed into the front seat. The ride home was a silent one, Anna held David's hand tightly.
"Thank you for going, I'm sure it meant a lot to mom." She told him.
He only nodded his head. He was the one who ruined dinner but it wasn't like he had any other option. He pulled into their driveway and Anna leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. She climbed out of the car and walked towards the front door. David was left to grab Olivia.
Anna pushed the door open but she watched as David carefully pulled their sleeping daughter from her carseat. Olivia shifted in his arms but otherwise, she stayed asleep. The woman smiled softly as David moved towards the door.
"You're so good at that." She laughed softly.
He leaned forward to kiss his wife, a smile on his lips the entire time. Her hands fell against his waist, her fingernails grazed against his t-shirt.
"Let me get her to sleep." He whispered, moving past Anna.
Anna closed the door behind her, throwing the keys into a bowl before she moved into the bedroom. David's footsteps got closer to their room and he laid down on the bed beside her.
His strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her to him. David kissed her again and again, peppering kisses along her jawline and her neck.
"I'm all yours and you're all mine." He whispered against her lips.
Anna smiled against his lips, her hands moving to pull his shirt up and over his head. Her nails grazed his skin and goosebumps popped up across his skin. The air between them was electric and the passion between them held no boundaries.
"I love you more than anything, David." She leaned over to kiss him one more time.
