Last update of 2020 and finally an end to what has been an..."interesting" year! Just a reminder that all the law enforcement rules have been revamped and revised for the purposes of this fic. I've no idea how long this fic will turn out to be and there is still no posting schedule - it's a case of I'll post as soon as I finish a bit!
Thank you to everyone who has read, reviewed, followed and fave'd so far - I really appreciate you spending time to read what my brain churns out!
Warning for some smutty smut ahead but not too much because - well, I like to tease our boys and see them roll their eyes at me!
Jack opened the door to his apartment after checking for the "Gonzo" response and allowed Kurt to enter in front of him. Huh, nice ass!Jack thought to himself as he took the opportunity to survey his date from behind. Shaking his head a little he went inside and closed the door behind them, taking care to secure the different locks and security chains. He turned around to see Kurt looking at him with a quizzical expression and a raise eyebrow.
"I swear I'm not trying to abduct you. Just security conscious. You know.." Jack trailed off not really wanting to say the words out loud, or even knowing if he was allowed to. What were the rules for dating FBI personnel who used to be your temporary handler for witness protection? Jack rubbed his forehead stiffly, this was making his head hurt.
"Why don't we start with that coffee?" Kurt suggested, seeing the internal struggle written on Jack's face. He smiled as the other man seemed relieved to be taken out of his thoughts.
It wasn't long before they were back in deep conversation when the subject of Kurt's former husband arose again.
"Would you mind telling me about him? If it's not too difficult?" Jack smiled kindly.
Kurt took a deep breath in and started from the day he met Eric.
"Oh gosh I'm so sorry! I didn't spill any in you did I?" Kurt tried to fix the lid on his coffee cup before he looked up into a pair of sparkling green eyes.
"I think you hit the floor mostly but it's all good. I'm Eric, you know me as "camera 2"." Eric held his hand out and Kurt smiled and extended his own.
"Kurt Hummel, you may know me as "which camera is it again?"" He laughed.
"Ah, so you're the one that we keep waving to!"
"That would be me! I'm still getting used to the whole TV thing. At home you don't realise just how much is happening off screen!"
Kurt and Eric chatted until Kurt was ushered off to hair and makeup ahead of his shooting schedule that day. As he changed back into his street clothes at the end of filming he smiled and thumbed the note Eric had slipped him with his name, number and a little doodle of a stick man waving beside a camera.
"From then on we were pretty much inseparable. We got married a few months after we met and started the surrogacy process when we got back from our honeymoon. It was fast but it was...it was perfect." Kurt smiled, "we both knew what we wanted and couldn't wait to get started. Then when Stephen was about 18 months old, we were at work and there was a cracking sound and...and..."
Kurt's face crumpled and Jack instantly pulled him into his arms. His heart was breaking for what Kurt had gone through. It took a few minutes for Kurt to calm down enough to be able to continue.
"I turned around just as one of the lighting rigs came swinging down. It knocked Eric over from behind and he just dropped." Kurt sat up a little, focussing on a button on Jack's shirt. "None of us knew it at the time but the force of the impact killed him instantly. That's the only good thing about what happened. The doctors said he wouldn't have felt a thing. Like, poof, lights out, life over." Kurt rest his head on Jack's shoulder never realising before just how much he'd needed a hug from someone other than his parents. "I tried to stay in L.A. to keep some sort of routine for Stephen but it just wasn't home anymore. After about a year or so I came back to Lima. And that's the story of how I became plain old Kurt Hummel again." Kurt shrugged his shoulders a little.
"There's nothing plain or old about you Kurt Hummel." Jack smiled rubbing his thumb across Kurt's back. Before he realised what he was doing he had pressed his lips to Kurt's and to his surprise Kurt started to kiss him back. Jack pulled Kurt closer and tilted his head a little as the kiss deepened and Kurt's tongue slipped into Jack's mouth.
The only sounds were heavy breaths and rustling of clothes as Kurt moved to straddle Jack's lap, sliding his arms over Jack's shoulders and tangling his fingers in the dark slightly curly hair at the base of his tanned neck. Kurt let his head fall back as Jack kissed down his neck.
"Oh, Jack...mmmm" Kurt looked up as the mouth disappeared from his neck, "why'd you stop?" He pouted.
"I can't...I'm not..." Jack rested his hands on Kurt's hips, oh my god he's sitting in my lap, he looked up into Kurts confused blue eyes and took a deep breath. "I am not Jack Davies. I was not born and raised in Boulder, Colorado."
Kurt smiled softly leaning in to press a soft, quick kiss to Jack's lips.
"I know. I don't know anything about you before the day I first met you and I promised I would never ask. You don't have to pretend with me Jack." Kurt continued to run his fingers through the hair at Jack's neck, oh my god I'm sitting in his lap.
"Would you call me...call me Bee?" Jack look up at Kurt nervously.
"Bee? I think I can manage that." Kurt smirked as he moved to lean back in, halting when he felt a hand press against his chest softly. "What is it?"
"I didn't mean to kiss you when you were so vulnerable, I just...I just couldn't help myself."
"I kissed you back remember? But I'd really like to keep kissing you." Kurt smirked as the hand went back to his hip and the hazel eyes shone brightly.
As Jack-Bee's lips worked their way along Kurt's jaw and down his neck, Kurt groaned and pressed himself closer to the surprisingly muscular man beneath him. He felt his shirt collar being gently pushed to the side before soft lips kissed his collarbone.
"Oh god Bee..." Kurt could feel Bee's lips smile as he moved back up his neck and claimed Kurt mouth as his own once again. The kiss grew sloppier and more eager as the men grew more breathless until Kurt pulled back panting, his lips red and his eye heavy with desire. "We should..."
"Yeah..." Bee nodded, his now messy curls loose on his head moving in agreement. "As hard as that may be I think we should stop."
"Don't mention hard things, please!" Kurt whined as he moved himself back onto the couch beside Bee, nudging him in the ribs when he giggled. Bee pulled Kurt against his side and kissed his forehead softly. "Thank you for asking me out tonight."
"Thank you for paying!" Kurt chuckled.
"Thank you for making me feel like a teenager again." Bee smirked, trying to adjust himself without being too obvious. This elicited a loud laugh from Kurt who appeared to be having the same difficulties.
"I had a really good time tonight but I think I should be going if I want to maintain any pretence of innocence or virtue." Kurt grinned as he stood up and pulled Bee to his feet beside him.
"I had a really good time too. Could we do this again sometime?" Bee asked, suddenly feeling nervous of the answer.
"I'd love that, besides it's my turn to pay next time!" Kurt slipped on his jacket and watched as Bee sent a short text and stared at the screen waiting for a response. "Hey, is this okay? What we're doing? I mean, I don't know if we're dating or what, but are you allowed too...?" Kurt trailed off.
"Why Kurt Hummel," Bee held his hand to his chest in mock surprise "are you trying to ask me out after you spent most of the last 2 hours groping me on my couch?"
Kurt pretended to think about it for a while before shrugging, "yeah, pretty much!" As they both laughed, Kurt slid his arms around Bee's waist and pulled him closer. "So what do you think? Wanna date me?" Kurt wiggled his eyebrows comically causing Bee to laugh and drop his head to Kurt's shoulder.
"I think I've never been so successfully wooed in my life and I would love to date you." Bee grinned his response, squeezing Kurts arms as their lips met once again before the sound of a text message pulled them apart. Bee checked it quickly before he started to unlock the door.
"Hey," Kurt covered Bee's hand with his as he unchained the last security lock, "we take this at your pace, okay? Your safety is the primary concern here." Bee smiled and nodded as his shoulders sagged with relief.
They shared one last quick peck before Kurt slipped out of Bee's apartment and made his way back to the restaurant where he'd parked his car. Behind his once again locked door, Bee touched his tingling lips and grinned. I'm dating Kurt Hummel. I'm dating. I went on a date!
Kurt sent Bee a quick text to let him know he'd arrived home safely.
From Bee: Thank you for letting me know. I had a really great time tonight.
From Kurt: me too. Hey, does this mean I'm your Miss Piggy?! ;D
From Bee: hmm, I think she might be the bigger diva. I'm not sure you could live up to her standards ;p
From Kurt: Wait until you see me during the sales at the mall! :D
From Bee: it's a date x
From Kurt: I'll hold you to that! Goodnight Bee x
From Bee: Goodnight Kurt x
As they both went to their separate bed that night, the both shared a similar dream, reliving their time on Bee's couch whilst also sharing the same worry - would their budding relationship survive Bee's secret?
Yay! Our babies are together! This was quite tricky to write because they can't move too quickly but I want them to hurry up! Ha! Anyway, hope you enjoyed the update and have a good and safe new year wherever you are! The unicorns have already cracked open the prosecco so I'm off to join them! See you all in 2021!
