A bitch really do be reviving all her dead stories in lockdown

"I'm sorry, but only family can see him." The nurse said, crossing her arms. She looked to be sympathetic to Karma's plight, but also a little irritated by his constant badgering.

"That's ridiculous! I brought him into hospital, why can't I see him!"

"As I already explained, when he wakes up, you can see him if he gives permission." The nurse said. "Until then, you'll just have to wait. Don't make me call security."

"Fine." Karma relented with a huff, storming away from the ward. The past few hours has been a whirlwind; When Karma and Ren had arrvived in the hideout, bag of money in hand, Gakushuu had already been shot in the leg and Nagisa was being beaten to a pulp by the damn gang leader. Karma had ran up behind the bastard and smacked a chair across the back of his head, then the next thing he knew, he was in the middle of a brawl. Ren must of called the police while he was fighting, because the next thing he knew cops and ambulance crew had showed up, sirens blaring and lights flashing.

The cops had been chasing gang members, handcuffing them and throwing them into the back of a van. Nagisa and Gakushuu had both been whisked away in an ambulance. Karma was holding Nagisa's hand as he slipped in and out of consciousness. "He's going to be okay, right?" Karma asked, the paramedic gave him a reassuring smile.

"He'll be fine."

Following that, Nagisa and Gakushuu were rushed in to see doctors while Ren and Karma were left to give statements to the police. The whole thing felt like a blur, and the only think Karma could think about was Nagisa.. and he wasn't even aloud to see him until he woke up. At least all the staff had assured him Nagisa would be fine, so it was all okay.. right?

As he walked along the hospital corridor, a man stepped suddenly out of one of the side-rooms and straight into his path. "- And I hope you're pleased with yourself." The Man was saying to whoever was in the room as he walked out, his face twisted into a malicious scowl. Karma recognised him as the principle of the school- Gakushuu's Dad. The Principle didn't pay him any heed, simply storming away down the corridor. So. This must be Gakushuu's hospital room. Checking quickly for wittnesses, Karma quickly dived in through the door.

"I thought you said you were going home." Gakushuu said as he entered, he was facing away from Karma, out of the window.

"Wrong person."

"A- Akabane- What are you doing here?" Gakushuu squawked, turning quickly to face the other. He looked fairly healthy. Well, other than his leg which was currently heavily bandaged, and his pupils which were blown. I wonder what kind of pain medication they gave him.

"Of course I'm going to visit my beloved 'boyfriend' if he's in hospital." Karma sneered.

"Oh, cut the crap already." Gakushuu retorted, turning to face out of the window again.

"I didn't tell the police that you were an instigator. That I think you initiated Nagisa getting kidnapped, somehow. As far as they're aware, you're just a victim." Karma said, crossing his arms. "So I think I deserve the truth. What happened?"

".. I didn't mean for it to happen like this." Gakushuu said. "I have some friends who are thugs, I wanted them to threaten Nagisa a little bit- not actually harm him! Just so I could swoop in and save him, I thought maybe that would make him fall for me. To piss you off. But a rival gang got involved and we both ended up being held hostage. That's it, alright?"

"You really wanted revenge against me so badly you would put Nagisa in danger?" Karma hissed, standing over the other. He relished in the way Gakushuu flinched ever so slightly. He had to know, that he was completely helpless against him.

"Yes." Gakushuu replied. "I really wanted to hurt you."

"Bringing Nagisa into it is extreme even for you." Karma said, he put a hand lightly on Gakushuu's leg, the one that had been shot. "You better pray Nagisa makes a full recovery. I can't believe you went so far just because of some blackmail-"

"It wasn't JUST about the blackmail!" Gakushuu shouted, pushing Karma's hand away from him. "Do you know how badly the whole 'fake relationship' thing hurt me? Do you know how it feels to have the person you like pretend to be your boyfriend, and go on dates with you, and kiss you but you know he's only doing it because he likes someone else? and He doesn't care about your feelings at all. And you can't even save yourself from the pain by not taking part, because he's blackmailing you to take part in his stupid scheme."

"Gakushuu.. what the hell are you talking about?" Karma asked, confused. Gakushuu let out a frustrated sigh.

"I love you, you idiot." Gakushuu said, scowling at Karma. "And I wanted to hurt you as bad as you were hurting me."

Karma gawked at him, his brain literally unable to to compute what was being told to him. "But. I'm horrible to you."

"I know. That's the problem." Gakushuu sighed, a sad look in his eyes. "I'm probably only telling you this because they've given me way too much pain medication. You know how they say your attachment with your parents influences your future relationships, maybe that's why I ended up falling for someone who clearly doesn't like me. And even after everything you did- after forcing me to kiss you just as part of your stupid plan, I still like you. Even then, when you were practically threatening me, my heart was still racing."

Karma sat there, dumbstruck, taking everything Gakushuu was saying in. Gakushuu liked him, he said he loved him. His anger dissipated, and was replaced with guilt.. How would he feel if the person he liked was using him to make someone else jealous? He didn't even want to think about it.

"I'm sorry." He said. "I didn't know."

"Yeah. Well, now you do." Gakushuu said, he was blushing. It wasn't an expression Karma had seen on him before. "Are you going to laugh? I bet you think I'm pretty stupid."

"I think you probably need therapy if you fall in love with someone because they're horrible to you." Karma said after a pause. He wasn't joking about that.

"Ugh. Just get out. I'm sick of looking at you." Gakushuu said. "And if you tell anybody what I said, I'll kill you myself!"

"You see, how was I supposed to know you liked me when you speak to me like that- okay, I'll shut up." Karma said, noticing the other's death-glare. "You know, there's about a hundred better options for you than me. You know Ren is like, obsessed with you?"

Gakushuu sighed. "Yeah. I know. Anyway. Didn't I say get out? You should be with Nagisa.."

"I'm sorry." Karma said again, before leaving.

It took another hour, but Karma was finally allowed in the room with Nagisa; his mother had thankfully left to get him some fresh clothes, leaving the two of them alone. Nagisa was sat up on the bed, his face was bruised and his eyes were tired, but his smile still lit-up when Karma walked in.

"Karma!" He said,

"Hey, you." Karma said, his heart filling with relief. Nagisa may be bruised, but nothing permenant at least. He rushed over, giving the other a carefully light hug. Nagisa in turn, clung to him tightly.

"You came and saved me, didn't you?" Nagisa said. "I was so scared, Karma, I thought I would never see you again."

"I'm just glad your safe now." Karma replied, stroking the other's hair. After one final squeeze, Nagisa let go of Nagisa, sinking back into the bed.

"Is Asano okay? One of the gang members shot him in the leg- "

"Yeah. He'll be fine." Karma said quickly, not wanting to think about Gakushuu's confession at right this moment. "Knowing him, he'll be up and about in no time."

"Thank goodness." Nagisa said, breathing a sigh of relief. "You know, he distracted the gang members so I could escape.. Except I couldn't just leave him. That's how I ended up getting into that fight."

"Nagisa, you need to be more careful. You seriously almost gave me a heart-attack, you know." Karma said, Nagisa gave a coy smile.

"Sorry. If it's any comfort to you, I have no plans to get in any fights again." He said. Then there was silence for a few beats, both of them both having a lot they wanted to say, but unsure of how to start the conversation.

"Asano told me.. that you blackmailed him into a relationship with you." Nagisa said, his expression suddenly becoming serious. "Why would you do something like that?"

"To get back at Ren. I'm sorry Nagisa, I don't know if you actually like Ren, but you should know.. he was dating you just to make Gakushuu jealous." Karma explained. "I thought if I could show how jealous he was you would dump him. I couldn't stand to see him using you."

"So you ended up using Asano?"

"Yeah. I guess it's the pot calling the kettle black." Karma said. He scanned Nagisa's expression, he didn't seem particularly heart-brocken by the revelation Ren was using him.

"I was only dating Ren because he blackmailed me into it." Nagisa admitted.

"He WHAT? Why didn't you tell me!" Karma exploded.

"I didn't want you to hit him- Well. I guess you did that anyway, huh." Nagisa said, he let out a deep sigh. "Man. We're all a bunch of idiots, aren't we? All this deception and blackmail and not telling people what we really think. And where did it end up? Two of us are in this hospital. I swear, the four of us must have one brain-cell between us to end up in this mess."

Karma and Nagisa both ended up laughing at that. After all, Nagisa was right. Karma could hardly believe the convoluted nonsense they had all caused for themselves. Maybe it was time to be honest, Karma took in a deep breath, his heart suddenly racing.

"Nagisa... I like you. Like a lot. Like more than friends. I think I'm in love with you. I only didn't want to be with you because I thought it would put you in danger but.. You ended up in danger anyway." Karma said, speaking quickly due to nerves. He could feel his face heating up as he spoke. He looked over at Nagisa, who was currently bright-red, looking as if he was about to short-cirtuit.

"Y- You.. like me?" He said, eyes shining. Karma nodded.

"So, what do you say? Want to try and date somebody for real? No blackmail and no ulterior motives?" Karma asked. Nagisa nodded vigerously, and the next thing Karma knew, the two of them were kissing. Who said happy endings don't happen?

A month later, they're all on the school camping trip together. It's the type of think Karma would usually skip, he wasn't really a big outdoorsman, but Nagisa had been excited to go, so of course Karma agreed to tag along. You could pick a partner, but the groups were assigned randomly, and against all odds, Karma and Nagisa had been placed with Gakushuu and Ren.

Karma really hadn't spent much time with the other two since the gang incident; he had never spoken to Ren often in the first place, and until recently, Gakushuu just turned bright red and made an excuse to leave every time he tried to talk to him (Karma would be lying if he didn't find that funny).

The whole trip so far- from the hike to the site, setting up the tents and cooking the food, had been full of shenanigans and Karma had all but accepted that when the four of them got together, their clashing personalities meant there would always be highjinks and bickering (mostly between him and Asano). The four of them had just finished eating and were actually having a long moment after a long, long, day.

Karma was laid out on his rolemat on the grassy verge, Nagisa was cuddled into him next to him, and both of them were looking up at the sky. Gakushuu and Ren were a short distance away, also both star-gazing. Karma noticed how the two leaned in closer to each other when they thought he wasn't looking. He wasn't sure of the state of Ren and Gakushuu's relationship currently, the two certainly seemed closer somehow, but an official relationship hadn't been declared. For all his faults, Ren obviously really did care about Gakushuu, and if he could handle his control-freak nature, Daddy issues and slightly masochistic tendencies, then Karma hoped the two of them could end up together one day.

A million sparkling stars floated above them, the longer you looked, the more you noticed, every now and then, a shooting star would fly past. Karma turned to Nagisa.

"What are you going to wish for Nagisa?" He asked.

"That we can be this happy forever." Nagisa replied, before kissing him

Well, after an almost FIVE year hiatus. the story is finished, I doubt any of the old readers are still around but if they are... Hi.. sorry this took so long lol.

I remember the whole time I was writing this, I was going backward and forward on who Gakushuu should like, I was between Ren, Karma or Isogai (just to throw everyone for a loop) but ultimately decided with karma because... Drama...
