Chapter Ten: Radagast, Jijimon and Babamon against the Spiders and Dokugumon
Far away to the East a man was quickly running through a forest. He was worried beyond his mind as he could feel as if a sickness was upon the forest. Radagast the brown, a Wizard wearing brown robes, brown fingerless gloves, brown shoes, a trail white bird mess in his hair and a brown hat that was flat on top, ran to a bush. While the majority of the bush looked to be healthy, a few withering stems and dying leaves stood amongst them. Radagast quickly snatched up a few of the dying leaves and examined them with worry. With a shake of his head, he frantically said, "Not good. Not good at all."
Radagast quickly hurried through the forest, passing the oddly dead bodies of a few forest animals, from foxes to rabbits. Radagast came up to some nasty looking mushrooms and plucked one before sniffing it. Smelling a nasty odor coming from it, Radagast took it with him to observe it. He then walked over to a large tree that appeared to have a large gash in it. In the gash looked to be some sickly sap. Carefully placing a finger into the gash, Radagast then felt the texture of the sap but it felt wrong to him and his flicked it off. The whistling of a bird made the Wizard look up. A small brown bird came fluttering down to him and Radagast removed his hat. The bird landed on his head before being joined by another and Radagast quickly placed his hat back on. Radagast looked to his left and gasped when he saw a friend of his lying on the ground and in pain. Radagast ran over to his friend, a hedgehog, and kneeled down, "Oh, no. Sebastian."
The hedgehog whimpered in pain from whatever was ailing him. Picking up the little hedgehog, Radagast held Sebastian close and said, "Good gracious."
Knowing that he needed help, Radagast quickly made his way through the forest again. His running scared off a few birds but he didn't pay them much attention. Radagast leapt over a log and around a few trees before passing by a few plants were a dead bird laid. Radagast ran all the way back to his home. A hut built around a tree. The Wizard ran through the open door and shut it behind him.
Laying a whimpering Sebastian down, Radagast went to work to help him. He got a little medicine in a spoon and tried to feed it to Sebastian while trying to calm him. Sebastian sniffed at what was in the spoon, but didn't take to it. A frustrated Radagast threw the spoon away before going to make another concoction. He scrambled to gather the right ingredients, "Come on!"
He glanced back to Sebastian but saw that a few other hedgehogs were getting to close. The Wizard shouted to them, "Move back! Give him some air, for goodness sake."
The other hedgehogs complied with the Wizard's wishes and backed away. Sebastian continued to whimper as Radagast came over with a new treatment. Once again, Sebastian didn't take to it. Radagast made another in a bowl and tapped it with a spoon, but it didn't seem to do much better. Thinking that maybe a different approach might be necessary, Radagast trying blowing a smoke-based remedy over the hedgehog. Deciding something else, Radagast removed a vial from his window and put some on his fingers, "There. There, Sebastian."
But once again, Sebastian would take to it. This truly confused Radagast as he flicked the substance off his fingers while saying, "I don't understand why it's not working."
The Wizard turned away and shook off the possibility, "It's not as if it's witchcraft."
But his words seemed to be the answer as Radagast put it together in his mind. Witchcraft was the only explanation that came to him, and he fearfully said, "Witchcraft?
He slowly turned to Sebastian, putting the pieces of the puzzle of his friend and the puzzle of the dying forest together. Only one thing could cause such chaos and death, "Oh but it is. A dark and powerful magic."
The sound of chittering came from the Wizard's left and he fearfully looked to the direction of his windows. He could see eight legged shapes moving about outside. The shapes moved all around Radagast's home and the Wizard was truly frightened. When he looked to the door, he could see giant spiders trying to break the door down. Radagast picked up a chair and moved it in front of the door to block the spiders. The sound of whimpering makes the Wizard look back to Sebastian as the hedgehog took one last breath with a shudder. Radagast felt saddened by his friend's suffering and even more sad when Sebastian released the breath and didn't move anymore. Radagast could feel as if his heart was breaking from the sight of his friend dying. He looked about as the giant spiders continued moving about his home. Knowing that there was still something he could do, Radagast moved to where his staff was and removed the crystal from the top. He looked about when the squeaking of mice came to his ears and could see the small creatures scurrying about in fear. They ran over the Wizard's body as he picked Sebastian up and placed himself into a chair. Then placing the tip of the crystal to Sebastian's lips, Radagast began chanting something in a foreign language.
Some of the giant spiders were able to punch a hole through the foliage that made up the Wizard's roof. But the Wizard kept chanting as his body seemed to relax and his eyes looked upwards in a trance like stare. A black mist left Sebastian's body and into the crystal as Radagast continued. The chanting seemed to slow down while the giant spiders kept trying to get in. The chanting ended when the black mist completely left Sebastian's body and he took in some fresh air. It seemed to bring Radagast out of his trance and he looked to his little friend and Sebastian grunted. The little hedgehog seemed to look as if he would be fine.
Radagast then looked to the windows and noticed at the spiders were starting to climb back down and away from his home. Placing Sebastian down on the ground, Radagast quickly exited from his home and ran to see where the spiders had gone. He followed a small bird around his house and then could see the last of them starting to move through the trees. He bewildered and asked himself, "Where on this good earth did those foul creatures come from."
Another bird flapped in front of him and started chirping something to him. Since he was a Wizard and a friend to the animals, Radagast could speak with them. He was shocked when he learned, "The old fortress?"
The bird gave a chirp that meant yes. Radagast then asked, "Please, show me."
But before he could even move, a giant shadow loomed over him. Looking up, Radagast's eyes widened really wide at the sight before him. A large spider, even larger than the ones that had surrounded his home, was standing on the trunk of a tree. This spider had a yellow head with green eyes, red hair appeared to be holding its hair with two of its legs and had a giant skull and crossbones symbol on its abdomen. The giant spider looked down at Radagast before turning around and shouting, "Poison Thread!"
A web emerged from the spider's back side and the Wizard moved to protect himself when two shouts were heard from overhead, "Guard Stick! Dark Broom!"
Two shapes moved in the way of the web and with objects held in their hand, they were able to stop the thread from hitting Radagast. The shapes then landed in front of the Wizard. Said Wizard was a little weirded out by the beings in front of him. One looks like a short, old man with a long, white beard. He always wears rags for clothes and carries around a staff with a lion's paw at the end and the other looks like a short, old woman with grey hair styled in a Japanese bun. She always wears an old robe with a Tifaret around her neck and carries around a broom. The male creature looked up to the spider and said, "Didn't anyone ever teach you to respect your elders?"
"It's not very nice attacking someone whose so handsome." The female creature said while glancing to Radagast. The male creature looked shocked by this and said, "Babamon! How dare you look at another man!"
"Oh, please. Calm down, Jijimon." Babamon said with a wave of her free hand. Then she said, "You know that I wouldn't leave you."
"Not meaning to interrupt your lovers spat…" Radagast said, earning their attention. He then reminded and pointed, "But we do have other problems."
They all looked up when the giant spider jumped from its spot and turned to where its mouth faced them. The spider then shouted, "Poison Cobweb!"
A purple blast erupted from its mouth and came at them. Using his staff, Radagast was able to raise a shield that barely protected them from the attack as they all fell backwards. Babamon looked to him and said, "Nice save."
"I'll say." Jijimon agreed. The giant spider Digimon landed on the trunk of another tree. Looking to his fellow Digimon, Jijimon then said, "I'll bring 'em down and you two finish it off."
"Sounds like a plan to me." Babamon nodded. Radagast was about to stop him when Jijimon once again surprised him. The small Mega level Digimon was able to jump into the tree and twirled his staff before striking with a, "Claw of Doom!"
The lion's paw on the end of his staff opened up and slashed at the spider Digimon. The spider screeched in pain while falling from the trunk. Radagast and Babamon readied themselves. When it hit the ground, Babamon opened her mouth and unleashed, "Empress Haze!"
A stream of flame erupted from her mouth and completely covered the giant spider. It let out a pained screech and Radagast acted quickly. Twirling his staff in his hands, he then plunged the end with the crystal, which he had placed back on, into the spider. The giant spider tried to fight the Wizard off, but another Claw of Doom from Jijimon was able to stop it. Babamon then shouted, "Out of the way!"
Radagast and Jijimon got the message and moved away from the downed spider Digimon. Babamon once again opened her mouth and unleashed another Empress Haze at it. The spider gave one more screech before bursting into data, or particles from Radagast's point of view.
The three looked about to see if there were any others and it when it seemed that the danger had passed, Radagast turned to his rescuers and said, "My thanks, friends."
"Aw, it was nothing." Babamon said with a wave of her hand. Jijimon then said, "Dokugumon are mostly always causing trouble."
"Dokugumon?" Radagast asked, never heard of such a thing. Jijimon then said, "Yes, nasty Digimon when they're trying to kill you."
"I can agree with that." Radagast nodded. Then he asked, "What manner of creature are you?"
"Well, Babamon and I are known as Digimon. Beings comprised of data." Jijimon explained. Then he added, "And don't make me explain the bigger details such as data and all that, okay."
"Very well, then." Radagast agreed. Then he asked, "Where do the two of you and that 'Dokugumon' hail from?"
"From the Digital World, of course." Babamon said as if it were obvious. Jijimon looked to his wife and said, "Honey, we can't expect him to know that. We've been sent to see where most of the Digimon have gone off to."
"I'm afraid that I'm not following." Radagast said. Jijimon and Babamon both looked up to Radagast and the former said, "We were sent by the Digimon Sovereign when a portal connecting the Digital World to this world was found."
"We don't know why Digimon are being called here, but the Sovereign are starting to get worried." Babamon added. Radagast then remembered what the bird had told him, "I was about to go and see where some giant spiders had come from."
"You got giant spiders of your own?" Jijimon asked. Radagast nodded and said, "Perhaps all our questions might be answered should we go to a place that was thought to be abandoned."
"And what are your questions per se?" Jijimon asked. Radagast looked about the forest and asked, "What do you notice about this forest?"
"Mostly that it's green." Babamon said with a shrug. Jijimon then said, "But now that you mention it, there is something odd about the air here."
"I can feel it too." Babamon agreed. She looked a little worried and said, "It feels as if the forest is becoming sick."
"Then come." Radagast said starting to walk through the forest. Jijimon and Babamon both followed after him while he said, "The answer I speak of should answer why the forest may be sick, why giant spiders are coming and why Digimon are crossing over from one world to another."
"Then what are we waiting for, let's go." Jijimon said. Radagast gave a smile before making a whistling noise. The three all look to their left when a sled being pulled by rabbits came along. Radagast said, "You two ride in the basket. I'll drive."
Jijimon and Babamon all piled into the sled and Radagast got over to the back. When they were secure, Radagast shouted, "Hiyah!"
The rabbits started pulling the sled and burst through some bushes. They made their way to a fortress in the distance.

Author's Note: Sorry that this chapter's shorter than the others. But I will put their adventures in the fortress when they meet up with the Company, so don't worry. But it might be a little while until I come back, so just wait for me, okay. I look forward to reading your reviews. Be sure to leave a comment either about if I've done something wrong or if you want something specifically to happen. See you next time.
