Departure

My visit to Glade City concludes where it started – in Eastport. I have boarded a steamship that departs for Almerois in a few hours. For now, that is the end of my itinerary, but I shall see how it develops in the coming days.

I go out on the deck to cast another look at the port. It is close to midnight, and the harbour is much quieter now, in contrast to how I remember it was on the day of my arrival. But Eastport has no time for sleeping – it carries on, just slower. The lamps are still lit; a few cranes are still turning, lowering and lifting baled cargo; a barge passes near, laden with dozens of some wooden reels – cable, probably; the reflected lights shimmer on the dark water, blending into something like tails of parading comets.

I hope that this book has succeeded in familiarizing you, dear reader, with Glade City and what you can expect to find there. The City Upon The Flames most certainly deserves a visit and will not disappoint a traveller seeking new sights and impressions.

I bid you farewell and wish you many safe and pleasant journeys.
